The branding podcast featuring stories and lessons from entrepreneurs and brand builders, so you can get inspiration, insights, strategies and tactics as you create your own game-changing brand. Hosted by serial brand creator, entrepreneur, and founder of Antidote, Kendrick Co.
My next guest is Rajan "Piku" Uttamchandani, Founder and CEO of Esquire Financing Inc., the leader in Growth Stage Financing for SME's.
I first met Piku back in 2011 when EFI hired Antidote for their brand strategy. What was quickly clear to me was how much EFI's mission of empowering SME's meant to him and his team. Through several strategic planning sessions with him and leadership team, we ended up identifying their ideal client, the SME-for-now who has aspirations of growing out of being an SME. And with that, the brand positioning we developed was Growth Stage Financing, something that Piku truly embodied as evidenced by the over 20,000 SME's EFI has funded and guided to growth and success over the past decade plus.
In this episode, you'll hear about all of this and more as he talked about his vision for SME's and what he is working towards to continue enabling the growth of more SME's into big corporations that will ultimately lead to more growth for the country.
If you're an SME in need of financing for your business, head on over to Esquire's website to get more information on how to apply.

The accumulation of carbon emissions is on the rise in the printing industry, with approximately 1 gram of carbon dioxide produced per 1 page printed using a laser printer. For businesses, it can be tricky balancing productivity against sustainability, but in reality, the two don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
Epson’s EcoTank and Business Inkjet printers use a Heat-Free Technology that increases productivity and helps reduce environmental impact with no compromise. It even uses less power as there’s no more need for Epson printers to warm up! Even save time with its consistent high speed printing, and reduced amount of intervention required brought by its topnotch PrecisionCore Technology!

The Acid House is one of the country's most established motion animation studios, having done excellent work for both local and global brands over its long tenure in the industry. Ivan Despi, who founded the studio with his wife, joins me on this episode to talk about how he discovered his love for animation and the leap he took to start his own studio.
I love hearing stories like this because even for someone who has had a long history already with his studio, you can really hear the passion still going strong from creative entrepreneurs like Ivan. He tells the origin of The Acid House and how they built their name slowly but surely, all while keeping an extremely lean team backstopped by a network of collaborators and freelancers working harmoniously to produce the great works that the studio is known for.
We Filipinos have always had the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, and stories like this hopefully inspire the next generation to take the leap and create their own path to showcase the best of what our country can create and produce.

What an unbelievable honor to have the renowned, award-winning journalist and documentarist, Howie Severino on this episode. It's been almost two years in the making to finally record this and it was certainly worth the wait!
I've long been fascinated with Howie's life and career and has him on my original list of guests to have on the podcast. Plus, Howie (and his wife Ipat) are two of our dear Ninong and Ninang from our wedding, so this was a real personal treat to document an insightful and in-depth conversation with him. #grateful
Howie drops so much pearls of wisdom throughout this episode on a broad range of topics: journalism and its importance in society, how to be a good documentarist, parenting and supporting your kids' interests, why he learned and started teaching Baybayin, secrets to staying relevant and thriving decades into a highly competitive field, his passion for studying our national hero's life, and many more!

Finding a mentor is extremely important in one's journey to success, especially in business in order to learn the right steps in building a company while also avoiding the many possible pitfalls along the way.
In this episode, I had the great fortune to sit and chat with Jasen Ko, Chairman of Laborem, a group of 6 diverse companies that he founded and oversees. Apart from this, he also actively mentors several other entrepreneurs and CEO's privately as well as in exclusive organizations that he is a part of. After the conversation that we had, I can honestly say anyone he is mentoring is indeed lucky for Jasen is sharp, insightful, and carries himself with a calm that will put you at ease while talking you through your challenges. And certainly, his vast experience running multiple thriving businesses is filled with gems of wisdom like the ones he drops all throughout this episode.
Consider this episode a gateway to learning from someone who's not only mastered his craft, but is able to distill the process and teach it to other entrepreneurs both current and aspiring.

Extremely grateful to bring this episode out with Ken Jeswani, CEO of Scent and Beaute, the leading fragrance and beauty distributor and retailer in the country.
I’ve known Ken for a long time ever since he became one of Antidote’s first clients back in 2009. In the years after, we collaborated and helped bring his vision to life of transforming the fragrance category here through several disruptive concepts like Art of Scent, Fresh Fragrance Bar, Perfume Express and more.
Through all of it, we became really good friends who even helped each other propose to our then-girlfriends, now wives. So it was definitely great to reconnect recently and collaborate again, this time for this episode that will surely inspire you to think big and never take no for an answer especially when it comes to your life’s work. Enjoy!

As cliche as it sounds, that well-worn advice about us only having only one life to live still holds so much truth, especially given the times we live in. In this episode, AJ Dimarucot and I talk about living life on your own terms and designing your life to live creatively without that other cliche of being a struggling artist. AJ shares everything from how he realized his true path, how he fought for it, taking the leap, mistakes he made, steps he took to work with his dream brands, and many more.
This is one of those episodes you will likely listen to multiple times if you're on a similar path of discovering how to take your creative talents and turn it into a viable and thriving business and lifestyle. AJ supplies not just the inspiration but the actual practical steps he went through to land his first freelance clients, how he networks and generates leads for future work, and more.

My heart is so full after this wide-ranging conversation with Robert Alejandro filled with so much joy and inspiration through the stories he shared. Entrepreneurship is clearly in Robert's blood as he talks about his beloved mother starting a business with no experience, but with grit and tenacity. Those lessons he received from his mom have shaped him and his siblings as they continue to thrive with Papemelroti for over 50 years now.
Apart from the entrepreneurship and business lessons though, what struck me most was the joy he lives with every single day, truly enjoying the work he does and appreciating every moment of the day. It's clear that Robert has found the meaning to life and I'm beyond grateful to be able to share this beautiful chat with all of you.
If you like this episode, please let me (@kendrickco) and Robert know by tagging him on Instagram @robert_alejandro when you share the episode. This is just a short solo episode to answer the most-asked question I've gotten from you guys this year, which is "Why are you not releasing more episodes?" Seriously, I really appreciate everyone who took the time to drop me a note/message on socials and even via email. Hope you can continue supporting the show and helping me build some momentum again. Let's go!
What's up guys! The pod is back with a brand new episode after a short (ok, lengthy) hiatus. And this time we are joined by Ed Bonoan, the General Manager for Marketing for Epson Philippines. We had an insightful conversation about building the Epson business here in the Philippines, both in terms of marketing and operations. Whether you're a solopreneur or running a start-up or SME, there's a lot of great advice here, especially in terms of leadership and growing your team.

This clip is from the very first episode of the podcast with my friend and early collaborator, Chris Roxas. In this short clip, he talks about how he views challenges in growing himself and the people he brings on to his team. For more on Chris, do check out Episode 1 for the full interview!
There's plenty of opportunities out there to help us break through. Sometimes, you just have to raise your hand to get a shot!
In this episode, I had a great conversation with Melissa Yeung-Yap on her journey into social entrepreneurship with Got Heart Foundation, as well as running and growing her family business makers of Katinko. This is filled with great insights from her experience running a foundation overseeing hundreds of communities nationwide, an organic restaurant, and a fast-growing consumer product.
Friend of the program Mark Del Rosario of Let's Eat Pare drops by to take one last look at the year that was for lessons we can take in the new year.
Losses are part of the entrepreneurial journey. It's what you take away from the loss that matters. After all, there's a Lesson in every Loss.
Very excited to finally welcome Jacqe Gutierrez to the podcast! If you're into branding and entrepreneurship (and cosmetics of course), you surely would be very familiar with Happy Skin and BLK Cosmetics, both of which are game-changing brands that Jacqe started and grew into leading brands they are now.
It's always a good idea to plan ahead and give yourself a headstart, whether through weekly reviews or using December as a springboard for an awesome new year!
If you find yourself in a rut or in a difficult situation, remember that this is just a chapter in your life. And YOU still have the power to decide how the rest of the story goes.
We are back with a new episode, this time featuring a conversation I had with Quark Henares, Head of Globe Studios. Really enjoyed chatting with Quark, who is one of the most humble persons I've ever come across despite his numerous achievements and awards. His quiet confidence comes across as well as his mindset of not assuming he knows everything, again regardless of what he has accomplished in his career.

Join me in welcoming multi-awarded entrepreneur Reese Fernandez-Ruiz of Rags2Riches for Episode 50!!!
Reese is the co-founder and President of one of the best and longest-running social enterprises in the Philippines. I first met Reese when my brother and I guest-enrolled in Ateneo for a Social Entrepreneurship course taught by Harvey Keh. And for that course, we all had to propose/pitch an idea for a social enterprise as the final requirement for the course. If I remember correctly, Reese and her group, got the highest mark for their idea that grew into Rags2Riches.
In this interview, we talked about the origin of that idea, why social entrepreneurship is important for her, and how Rags2Riches is coping with the current pandemic. We discussed her leadership style, how she manages her work and productivity along with her family. Of course, we also touched on this huge milestone for Reese and her team - landing a landmark partnership with IKEA! jaw dropped

Do you find yourself dwelling on the past? Shouldn't have done this, should have done that. While it's true the situation you find yourself in now is because of the past, nothing can change that now. Focus instead of what you can still change.
To say that my guest for this episode and I go way back is an understatement as Crystal Lee Gonzales and I were actually blockmates during our first year in UA&P. It's been great to see her successes in her career and especially with this new venture that she's launching this month called Pick.A.Roo, the premium all-in-one delivery app!
When we recorded this a few weeks ago, Pick.A.Roo was still in stealth mode but it's obvious I was excited to talk to her about this considering one of her previous stops was Honestbee. Yes, the Honestbee that everyone loved (I myself was a loyal customer) but unfortunately did not work out due to certain "challenges" which we also touched on during this interview. I certainly appreciate her openness to talk about that time as it was a very difficult time for her as the Country Manager who was leading things here successfully but had to suddenly explain to stakeholders and customers here why the service was shutting down. Her grit and resilience to overcome that and emerge stronger than ever is something we can all draw on for sure.
Watch out for the launch of Pick.A.Roo, I for one am looking forward to what Crystal and her team have been working on.

On this special Father's Day edition of Mindset Monday, I share what I consider the true measure of success and who I believe embodies this more than anyone I know.
Carlos Araneta is no doubt a familiar voice for many. Not only is he one of the fast-rising anchors of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), he is also an events host AND a podcaster as one of 3 hosts of From The Stands, a popular basketball-centric podcast. He also recently launched a brand new podcast focusing on parenting called The Dad Bud Podcast. It is indeed timely with Father's Day coming right this week!
In this episode, we go through his journey and how he transitioned from his corporate career in one of the major networks in the country to finally following his passion for sportscasting. His fast rise in sportscasting, and even in events and podcasting, is a testament to his work ethic and approach to building his brand. He talks readily about the mentors who have been essential in his growth as well as the challenges he has overcome along the way.
Follow him on IG @chuck_araneta and catch his podcasts The Dad Bud Podcast and From The Stands on all podcast players! Tag both of us to let us know you're listening to this episode. You can also post a screenshot of the episode and share on social to spread the word!

Having the mindset of not quitting when things are tough allows you the opportunity to learn from your failures in order to eventually learn how to win. After all, failure is feedback so repeat this to yourself as often as needed: "It's not over until I win!"
Being a wedding planner is one of the most selfless careers or business that one can get into. Your success, fulfillment and happiness literally hinges on the success and happiness of your couples on their once-in-a-lifetime special day. And if you know Christine Ong Te, or Achi Pooh, as she is widely known by everyone, then her success and longevity wouldn't surprise you at all because she is one of the most selfless, giving, and loving person you will ever meet. And if you're lucky (like our entire family lol), she'll also be there at your special day, making sure it goes according to plan.
In this episode, we talked about her incredible 20-year run in the event planning industry, how she started, how she grew, and how she has stayed at the very top of an ever-evolving and highly-competitive industry. Since we recorded this late May, we also touched on the state of weddings, and events in general, given the effects of this pandemic. It's during this trying times that my respect for Achi Pooh grew even more, seeing how she dealt with things positively and rallied her clients and colleagues alike. Entrepreneurship, leadership, life lessons, and more in this episode!
Follow her on IG @christineongte and COTE Events @cotevents for your special days! As always, if you haven't yet, hope you can head over to Apple Podcasts and give me a 5-star rating and review. Extremely pumped to share this episode with the legend himself, Alvin Aguilar - President and founder of the URCC, founder and head coach of DEFTAC Ribeiro Jiu-jitsu Philippines, and currently serving as the President of the Wrestling Association of the Philippines. Known for being the first home-grown Filipino Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Black Belt, Alvin is an incredibly accomplished and decorated martial artist, with numerous titles and medals won through the years. In fact, he is widely considered to be the Father of Philippine MMA!
Aside from being one of, if not the most successful martial artists in the Philippines, Alvin is also a pioneering and savvy entrepreneur, founding URCC and helping organize an entire industry and giving hundreds of Filipino mixed martial artists the opportunity to grow their skills and earn a living doing so. From humble beginnings, the URCC has continued to expand and is the longest running MMA promotion in Asia. With DEFTAC, he has trained several MMA champions as well with chapters all over the country teaching and training more future champions.
With all these accomplishments and titles, what really makes me respect and look up to Alvin though is his being a family man. In fact, listen to the very end of this episode to hear from him directly what he wants to be remembered for ultimately. Follow Alvin on IG @alvinaguilarknows, URCC @urccmmaph, DEFTAC @deftac_philippines, and Alvin's Youtube channel where he teaches martial arts, survival skills, and more!

My next guest, Albert Ao, is not only a childhood friend, but is actually also a cousin of mine (our grandmas were sisters) so we spent a lot of time together growing up, whether in family gatherings and in school. Fun fact: we started off in the same school but he transferred early in grade school, but I later transferred to that other school for high school so that's where we got reunited.
Albert would go on to start Project Mayo 7 with our other childhood friend Joubert Tan. Along with our other friends Jackson Tan and Ken Yao, they've quickly established Project Mayo 7 as one of the country's top wedding suppliers for videos, pooling together their creative talents to capture and tell their client's love stories. In this episode, we talked about how they ended up in the wedding industry from the initial career paths they were on (Albert was in animation while helping out in the family business, and Joubert was a rising star in ABS-CBN's news team for animation) and how they were able to get and build on their client's trust. There's a great story in here about keeping commitments despite crazy storms and cancelled flights that you definitely need to hear.
Follow Project Mayo 7 on Instagram and tag them to let them know you're listening to this episode. And weddings might have gotten postponed for now, but if you're planning your special day, make sure to check them out too!

Huge honor to welcome today's guest, Ernie Lopez, President of ABS-CBN's Creative Programs Inc. and Host of G Diaries, the show created by his late sister, Gina Lopez. He's also a co-host of the new iWant show Wreck Hunters where he and Wowie Ong take viewers on an underwater expedition to see famous wrecks all over the Philippines.
In this interview, Ernie takes me through his childhood, the advantages and disadvantages growing up in one of the country's prominent clans, why one of the worst times in their family's life during Martial Law turned out to be a good learning experience for them, and the missionary trip that turned out to be an eye-opener for him. We also touched on the current situation of ABS-CBN and his career starting with ABS-CBN Publishing all the way to leading Creative Programs Inc. We also got personal talking about his family life, fatherhood, and the people who influenced his life the most.
Make sure to listen to the very end as Ernie and I got to talking about what the country can become and what the Filipino is capable of. Take a screenshot of this episode and tag Ernie and me to let us know you're listening and what you're taking away from this episode.

In this time of massive change and pandemic-related disruption, we keep hearing about the need to pivot, to adapt. My next guest, Raf Dionisio, has done just that and in record time too! When his core businesses in travel and tourism got hit hard early this year when the travel restrictions started, he quickly worked to shift his focus to supplying essential food sourced from the same farms and communities he's been working with for MAD Travel, his travel and tours company. Out of that came the pivot to MAD Market, where instead of promoting tours, he's now been actively promoting products including fresh vegetables, forest honey and more!
When I first met Raf a couple of years ago when we both guested on Senator Bam Aquino's radio show, I immediately admired his passion as a social entrepreneur and his dedication to sustainable tourism. It's great to finally be able to talk more at length about his journey, the spark that led to his foray into sustainability, and the lessons learned along the way. Check out MAD Market and follow Raf on IG @rafdionisio.

Very excited to bring on the people's favorite stock trader and author of the Stock Smarts book series, Marvin Germo! This was an insightful conversation where I got to learn more about Marvin's journey from his corporate career to pursuing his passion for finance and stock trading. He truly cares about sharing his knowledge and educating more people about stock trading, and it's no surprise to see how many people follow him and his advice given how down-to-earth he is.
For anyone looking to monetize their passions or turn your side hustles into a real business that can support you and your family, you're really going to enjoy this episode (and the next guest too)! When I first met James Pacaba a couple of years ago, we immediately hit it off as he is genuinely one of the nicest people you'll come across. We engaged with his company Morningtide (along with his partners Sevastian Romberg and Marvine Sy, a former protege at Antidote) to help us plan our financial strategies and growth plans. That he is also an expert in the world of finance is indeed just a bonus and just adds an extra layer in our shared interests.
So I'm excited to finally be able to record with him for the podcast because I know he has a lot to share for you guys whether you own a business or in your careers. His perspectives on finance and how financial literacy at the highest level is crucial for everyone to learn is something that resonates deeply with me as an entrepreneur. Finance is often the one area that a lot of entrepreneurs struggle with mastering so having advisors like James has been helpful indeed as I continue to grow in business.

Gems like this is one of the reasons why I make sure to seek advice from Rommel Ng. Not only has he been through a lot in his entrepreneurial journey, but he has gone through it with a generous and empathetic attitude of helping others rise up. It was no surprise that the moment the quarantine hit, Rommel was one of the first to hit me up to spread some positivity and encouragement. It's been busy but we finally found time to have a longer chat about how this pandemic has changed things for good and how one can best equip himself and his organization for the new normal. Lots of great practical advice here!

No doubt, this has been the hardest and most challenging time for most of us. And really, there's no blueprint for how to properly navigate the difficulties arising at this time as this is so unprecedented. So what can we do? Personally, after going through the initial shock and stress (and denial) for the first few weeks, I've found myself looking at this time as a way to Rest and Reset - mentally, physically, spiritually. To each his/her own of course on how to best handle this time, but just wanted to share some of what's been working for me.
Hit me up on DM to let me know how you're doing and what ways to cope you've found to be effective for you guys.
For the Free Resources I mentioned in the episode, you can head on over to www.antidotebranding.com/downloads to get either or both of the Game-Changing Concept template (for planning your new brand) or the Brand Audit Worksheet (to assess how things are with your current brand). Feel free to message me for any questions as you go through the worksheets too!
What's up guys? Hope you're all safe and in good health. It's a real tough and scary time now, more so for some others. Let's all pray for things to get better soon. If you need a distraction during the quarantine, here's the last episode I recorded about a week ago (although it does feel like much longer than that) with Marcelle Marcelino, better known as H.
I've been a fan of H-Audio's products for some time now and was very excited to see a local brand get into music and sound technology. But after hearing H's story, I was amazed at how he had a rough childhood in Houston but managed to turn things around when he moved here to the Philippines to reconnect with his Filipino roots. After a long and successful stint in the top radio stations here, he had great offers waiting for him in the music industry but chose to take the harder and uncertain path of starting a business creating audio products. That's the kind of story that's just inspiring to hear as a fellow entrepreneur!
Check out the episode and let me know what you think! Follow H-Audio on IG and shop their amazing products like the PH3 on their website www.h-audio.com. DM me on IG to let me know what you think of this episode! Stay safe everyone!

We have a beast of an episode for you today with none other than John Aguilar, founder of the newly-launched venture builder Dragon's Nest and the creator and host of The Final Pitch, the country's leading show for entrepreneurs!
I first met John in 2019 when we both spoke at an event by Canon. And even though it was a brief chat backstage, I was struck by how insightful and generous he was with advice, that I just knew I had to have a longer sit-down with him. This episode certainly did not disappoint as John shared his life story and humble beginnings and how that helped shape his entrepreneurial drive and work ethic at an early age, leading to his many successes today. We talked about his early career, his production company Streetpark Productions which is behind the country's longest-running real estate show and of course The Final Pitch, and lastly his newest company Dragon's Nest where he hopes to create not one but several game-changing ventures.
There's a lot of wisdom to unpack in this episode so give it a good listen and make sure to let me know what you find the most interesting about the episode. Follow John on IG @johnsaguilar and @thefinalpitch and be sure to catch episodes of The Final Pitch on CNN Philippines too!

Maya Angelou once said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” This speaks to our dreams and why it's important to live creatively so that we get to leave no story untold. My guest for this episode, Joyce Pring is certainly living up to this quote by fully exploring her creative talents and impulses. Across stints in TV, radio, on stage, writing, singing, and of course podcasting, Joyce has shown a creative courage to try her hand in different endeavors and to learn and master them along the way.
In this episode, we talked about how necessity led her to work while in college and how that eventually led her down the path of exploring her many talents. We talked about how getting rejected by a radio station she was auditioning for turned into a blessing in disguise. We also talked about the importance of creating art for art's sake such as music in her case and why it's not always good advice to turn a hobby into a business. And yes we even talked about branding and how thoughtfully she approaches this with her team as she navigates the changes in her personal life.
This was definitely one for the books and I can't wait for you guys to listen to this! Be sure to also check out Adulting with Joyce Pring, one of the country's top podcasts, and tag @joycepring to let her know the parts of this episode that resonated with you!

At a time when most people have a voice or platform to share their opinions, what value does the ability to listen hold? This is one of the highlights for me from this conversation I had with Roby Alampay, founder and CEO of PumaPublic Productions, the company behind PumaPodcast along with several other shows.
As a multi-awarded journalist who has served as editor-in-chief of BusinessWorld and Interaksyon, as well as serving as an anchor of Cignal TV's One News Channel, Roby has long been a storyteller at heart. This calling has led him to starting a podcast production company to explore and grow this burgeoning medium. Apart from their own shows, they also offer production services to aspiring podcasters.

If you have ever experienced the dreaded Metro Manila traffic, then you no doubt are familiar with James Deakin, not because he causes the traffic, but because he is one of the few good men who are fighting the good fight to help make the traffic situation better for all road users and commuters. He's also been a long-time advocate for road safety through his work as a writer, vlogger, show host, and personality.
Above all, whether it's through his writing, his appearances in Senate hearings, and anywhere else, James comes across as highly sensible and earnest in his desire to make things better. Yes that includes the generous giveaways he hosts on his Facebook account, which is a genuine slice of good vibes on the Internet. In fact, I told him during this interview that he is at the top of most people's list of "people we hold in the highest regard and would be utterly shooked if he is not who we see him to be". I know that's an incredible pressure to put on someone, but it certainly seems to fit James Deakin perfectly. After all, I'm sure all of us who follow him consider him the ultimate Tito peg!
This was a great honor for me and I hope you guys enjoy this as much as I did recording this with James. Tag him and me on social to let us know you're listening to this episode!

Legendary Coach John Wooden said, "I may not be the best or brightest coach. But the one thing I do better than most is my ability to teach a group of individuals to work with ONE HEARTBEAT."
Coach Chot Reyes personifies this quote more than anyone as the man responsible for making "PUSO" the national battlecry during that legendary run as Head Coach of Gilas Pilipinas, leading the country to its first Basketball World Cup stint in 40 years back in 2014. After a storied 30-year career coaching and winning at every level of basketball, Coach Chot has transitioned to coaching and impacting executives and professionals in the corporate world. He brings with him not just his wealth of experience in sports but in his myriad corporate stints as well including as CEO of TV5.
Just spending an hour talking to him gave me so much insight and inspiration so I can just imagine how being coached by him extensively can bring someone's level of performance to new heights! You guys will definitely learn a lot from this episode!

I'm always impressed when I meet with entrepreneurs who have joined or taken over their family business and helped take the business to new heights. It's not often easy balancing family dynamics on top of the actual challenge that every business faces. But this next guest of the podcast has been an entrepreneur practically since he was a kid so it's not a surprise that he has handled this responsibility quite well.
In fact, prior to joining their family business, Mega Global, makers of the #1 canned sardines brand in the country, Marvin Tiu Lim had already started honing his entrepreneurial instincts, skills, and experience through his other ventures like Autokid and Laptopkid, both of which he has grown with his partners for years before finally taking on his current role in Mega Global.

20 years into an amazing career as a "keeper of personal history" as he puts it himself, Jason continues to astound with his creativity and work that has kept him as still the industry standard. That is no small feat considering the growth of the wedding industry with incredibly talented creatives getting into the field year on year. Despite his competitive drive to be at the top of his game, Jason has also been generous with teaching and sharing with others as a way to elevate the entire industry.
We've had the chance to chat years before when we first met for our wedding but of course that was part of his process of getting to know Ellen and I as a couple. This conversation though was enjoyable for me on a different level, being able to pick his brain especially how he approached building his brand through the years is indeed a fascinating case study for any creative entrepreneur. There's so many stories and revelations too that he shares for the first time about his entrepreneurial journey that just made me respect him a whole lot more.
This episode has been a long time coming. Jason and I have been circling each other's schedules since last year but given how high in demand he is for weddings and other events during the -ber months, it's fortunate we finally got to sit down and chat at the start of the new year. This is guaranteed to inspire you out of your mind! Make sure to tag me and Jason @jasonmagbanua to let us know your favorite parts of the episode!

Podcast peeps we've made history with this episode as we have brought Virus (his company) and Antidote (my company) together! My very good friend and founder of Virus, Miguel Quesada is my guest this week and we enjoyed lots of laughs just like old times back in college when we were often partners in projects and presentations.
We talked about where our paths after college took us and how it led to both of us starting our companies in the same year (a major coincidence) and even what we named our companies (an even bigger coincidence LOL). I really want you guys to hear his story about turning what most would consider a huge setback (company you work for closing unceremoniously) into a starting point for his company. Knowing that story from way back and seeing what he has achieved with Virus and how much the company has grown over the years makes me so proud as a friend for sure. It's a great example of what can transpire if you focus on the positive despite the negative situation staring you in the face.

This is our last episode for 2019 and it is fitting that I have RJ Ledesma as my guest this week as he had a great year winning multiple (read: a lot of) awards for Mercato Centrale not to mention personal awards as an events host. A true multi-hyphenate, RJ is someone I look up to for how well he's managing all that he has going on - a pioneering and thriving food market and incubator for food entrepreneurs, hosting events and weddings, speaking engagements advocating entrepreneurship and more. It's always been fascinating to me how he balances these responsibilities and fulfills them with his trademark energy.
In this episode, we talked about all these and what inspires him and what he has in store for Mercato Centrale. Listen till the end to find out the unique opportunity that RJ is offering all aspiring food entrepreneurs. Fitting as we head into the new year if you've been sitting on that idea and waiting for the nudge to get started!

So pumped to share this episode with you guys! This was a fun and insightful conversation with none other than Vince Golangco, founder and CEO of the uber-influential When In Manila. When In Manila has been an essential part of the fabric that defines and dictates what's great and cool about the experiences you can have in Manila, and it's a testament to Vince's vision and passion.
In this episode, we talk about his background, why he joined the US Navy, why he came home and how that led him to start When In Manila all the way to what it has become now. "We came from the slums." I was shocked when I heard it, and inspired at the same time. This episode has everything you need if you're aspiring to be an entrepreneur, create your dream business for yourself and the country.
Nico Moreno is a genuine inspiration for what he has overcome when his parents' business failed and led him and his siblings to strive harder in school and in their endeavors. In starting Ibarra Watches, Nico aims to revive the long-lost art and industry of watchmaking in the Philippines and empower a new generation of watchmakers and watch aficionados to appreciate Philippine-made timepieces. Really love seeing a fellow entrepreneur who believes strongly in building a Filipino brand despite the odds being against him. Always great to catch up with my good friend Mikko Barranda. He's a co-founder of one of the pioneers in coworking spaces in the Philippines, Acceler8. In this episode, we talk all about how he got started in real estate and how it led to Acceler8 and his other ventures. He shares how he manages all his commitments including what he does to stay productive. No entrepreneurial story is more inspiring than one that starts with humble beginnings and blossoms into success through vision and hard work. That is why I've been wanting to sit down and talk with Jose "Jomag" Magsaysay Jr. of Potato Corner, the ubiquitous flavored french fries brand that all potato lovers are surely familiar with. How can anyone not dream of finding their own success story after hearing how Jomag started with barely anything to his name but a willingness to work hard?
His story is full of grit and determination leading to the massive growth of Potato Corner, crossing continents as a true international Filipino brand. In this episode, he also talks about what's keeping him busy nowadays, what he looks for in up and coming entrepreneurs, his secret to success, and more!

Thoroughly enjoyed this conversation with Rommel Ng of Buffalo's Wings 'N Things. I've been a long-time fan and customer, and meeting Rommel has only amplified my respect for the brand, the company, and of course, the people behind it. Not only is Rommel managing a successful and growing business in the hyper-competitive food industry, he is also very generous with his experience and knowledge with The Resto Coach, with his advocacy of helping fellow food entrepreneurs learn how to better start, manage, and grow their businesses.
In this episode, you'll hear him talk about his humble beginnings, using his work ethic to rise up in established restaurant chains, and how all of his experiences eventually led to him co-founding and running Buffalo's. Definitely a lot of great insights here plus practical day-to-day tactics and advice for entrepreneurs!

Truly honored that I got to sit down with Toby Claudio as anyone who loves sports in the Philippines has no doubt been a customer of Toby's Sports. It's been amazing watching the evolution and growth of Toby's as a retail concept and a company as a whole over the years to keep its position at the top of a hyper-competitive category. Aside from Toby's, he has also developed a dedicated concept for running called Runnr as well as a lifestyle concept store called Urban Athletics. In this interview you'll hear from Toby himself how he has led this growth with his team, lessons he learned from his father and uncle, how his early exposure to the business (it's his name on the signage after all) gave him the training and perspective needed to eventually run the company, and so much more!
Having worked with Toby's Sports for our sports recovery brand A-Game, I've witnessed first-hand the level of professionalism and care that Toby and his team has for their business and brand partners. I'm truly humbled to have Toby as a believer of A-Game and to have this opportunity to get to know him as an entrepreneur and family man. Enjoy!

What an incredible honor it was to sit down with the OG of modern graphic design in the Philippines, Jowee Alviar! Together with his co-founder Mon Punzalan, Jowee launched Team Manila Graphic Design Studio in the early 2000's and soon after Team Manila Lifestyle Store with their iconic rendition of our national hero Jose Rizal wearing shades. To say that Jowee has been influential in shaping the graphic design industry into what it is today is an understatement.
In the almost two decades since its inception, Team Manila has continuously innovated and evolved both as a design studio and in their lifestyle store, staying relevant through the changing landscape of the Philippine market. Jowee talks about what inspired them to start Team Manila, using design for the higher purpose of nation building, and the importance of showing up and making the most of one's talent. If you love branding and design, you'll really enjoy hearing these stories and more in Jowee's own words.

This is an absolute FIRE episode with quite possibly the most #contentgoals content creator there is today - Patrick Martin! He is the founder of Litlab Studios, the digital content creation studio responsible for churning out memorable online campaigns for the country's top celebrities and brands. We met last year when we collaborated with Mond Gutierrez for our sports recovery brand A-Game and I've been a fan ever since that time after seeing his talent, vision, and work ethic up close. It's no wonder Litlab Studios is very much in high demand and given the ultimate free reign in crafting the campaigns they work on.
In this episode, Patrick takes us through how he started creating stories through videos to how he started Litlab (just a year and a half ago!), and where he plans to take Litlab in the future. We also go in-depth as he shares his leadership approach, his creative process, challenges he's faced and how he's overcoming them, his vision as a storyteller, and so much more! This was an incredible chat and I'm certainly looking forward to seeing what Patrick and his team has in store in the coming months!

A true definition of a "man for others", Mark is an entrepreneur who literally serves others in the form of the communities he has created and the values he has fostered in these communities. With an extensive corporate career in the food industry, hands-on experience with this own restaurant, plus an authentic yearning to lift the industry, Mark is indeed the right person to start Let's Eat Pare. In the short time since the inception of LEP, the positivity and encouragement it espouses in the community have been felt in the industry and certainly bodes well for the continued growth and evolution of the F&B industry in the Philippines.
Throughout this interview, you'll hear Mark's real passion for serving the community in every story he shares. I'm sure you'll find yourself equally amazed and inspired as I was that someone with his background and credentials has foregone a more traditionally-capitalist tendency to maximize his own returns in lieu of being in service of a bigger goal and purpose. Conversations like this really inspire and give perspective that entrepreneurship can really be a force for good if good is the enterprise's main purpose.
If you're still not part of the Let's Eat Pare community (and the other interest-based communities since launched by Mark and his team), head on over to Facebook and join. You can also follow them on IG @letseatpare. As always, let me know what you think by sending me a DM on IG @kendrickco.

Oly Ruiz of Metrophoto has been one of, if not, the top wedding photographer in the Philippines for the better part of the last decade. In fact, 7 years ago for our wedding, he was my wife's one and only non-negotiable wedding supplier, as he is for most couples. Such demand for his services is a testament to his incredible talent and relentless drive to deliver memorable shots that will indeed last a lifetime.
In this episode, we talk about how he got started, how he created and built the Metrophoto brand, the struggles he faced in 2016 and how he overcame them to bring Metrophoto to new heights, and other stories from his journey culminating in the launch of his new book, WILD. Had a blast chopping it up with Dan Matutina, an internationally-renowned designer and illustrator, and the founder of Plus63 Design Co and Hydra Design Group. Dan is someone who I have long admired not just for his works but even more so for his humility and generosity in sharing his talents. We recorded this episode during a holiday and true to form, Dan was generous with his time, sharing his experiences and insights on the creative industry, his most memorable projects such as the work he did for his alma mater the UP Fighting Maroons, a client presentation he won't ever forget, what he still plans to accomplish over the next years, and many more!

Chris Egan Roxas is the multi-awarded creative and the founder of XS Multimedia Group. Really enjoyed having him on as my very first guest for this podcast. Our paths crossed way back 2008 as he was actually the one who designed Antidote's first logo and calling card when I started the company. Since then, he has established a creative powerhouse in XS and in this episode, we talked about how he started and how he has grown his company by focusing on his people's growth.
