Bnar Sardar is a first female photojournalist born in Kirkuk Iraq and forced to flee to Iran with her family in 1991. Bnar worked with Metrogarphy agency, the first Iraqi agency for photography. Bnar currently lives and works in Bristol England and is the freelance photographer for National Media League. With her ever expanding portfolio, Bnar has had group exhibitions in various countries, including the UK, Norway, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Egypt, Turkey and Pakistan. Recently the UNHDR has selected Bnar as the middle-east photojournalist with the exhibition in (Venice), Italy.

In this episode Rudan Balay talks to Huje Balay about the recent social media campaign of #challengeaccepted initiated by women in Turkey against femicides. Huje Balay shares her story of posting a black and white photo of herself on social media account in support of the campaign without knowing the true meaning behind it- which was revealed later by the activists. They both say Kurdish women’s identity got lost in translation when it was revealed and discuss whether Turkish feminism has ignored Kurdish women’s identity and their problems in Turkey.
