Black Fatigue is available now! | The Winters Group

Black Fatigue is the first book to name and describe a phenomena Black people know well: the multifaceted physical and psychological damage wrought by simply living, day by day, in a racist society. This is a vital resource for Black and non-Black people who are looking for ways to heal, learn, and have productive and supportive conversations about racial injustice and trauma. To move forward, we need to know where we came from and where we are — Black Fatigue is the foundation from which we can begin to imagine a better world, together.

This week we have the beautiful Marissa Msefya one half of the Forever Marriage brand. In 2017, God called Marissa and her husband Joseph to launch Forever Marriages and become marriage coaches. Their ministry seeks to encourage a forever mentality by sharing God's vision for marriage and equip millennial married couples with tools and community we often lacked during the engagement and newlywed stage. Their belief is that a forever marriage requires each spouse to be Christ-centered, committed to investing in their marriage, and to be surrounded by a community of village-minded couples. As we know in 2020 many were professionally displaced, lost jobs, accepted pay-cuts, and were forced to quickly adapt to the "new normal" which included expanding our knowledge on digital media tools to stay connected with customers, friends and family members. Navigating the digital media space can be very tricky especially for young entrepreneurs who have been struggling with the management of their digital assets (social media pages, blogs, podcasts, YouTube channels). This week we have Ashleigh-Ann coming to share her comprehensive digital media survival checklist for small businesses. While the information is specifically useful for entrepreneurs, it is a valuable guide to personal branding online.

Ashleigh-Ann is the program coordinator at IrieVybz Radio and manager of Live Well Jamaica (livewellja.com) Blog. She is an experienced journalist and a communication consultant. She has held several executive positions in media; she’s a former Editor in Chief of Wealth Magazine, a former executive producer of two weekly youth programs on ROOTS 96.1FM and a former associate with Transformative Communications Partners where she trained 30 police officers in radio broadcasting and audio editing skills.

Ashleigh-Ann has lent her marketing and communication skills to the redevelopment of the marketing program for a multidisciplinary rehabilitation centre in Jamaica. She currently coordinates the program schedule at IrieVybz Radio, operates a wellness blog, LiveWellJa.com and contributes monthly articles to Jamaicans.com. With her multi-faceted skills and a genuine passion for her craft, Ashleigh-Ann is confident that she can bring a unique flair to any marketing plan which will essentially drive traffic and increase revenue.

Topics Discussed: * Video Resumes * Content Maps * Spring Clean your Social Media Pages (and friends) * Participate in online campaigns that are relevant Connect with Ashleigh-Ann http://livewellja.com/

Stephanie Josiah is the voice of many who may feel they are alone and/or identify being raised to shy away from "airing out dirty laundry." Stephanie has identified it being the very reason, a cap has been put over hurts and traumas that might have otherwise healed. Stephanie demonstrates in her work that wounds require cleaning, air, and light.

Stephanie has experienced family trauma and even the seeming dead end of losing a child. She writes about her traumas for healing and, in doing so, she hopes to help heal others. Stephanie has been a self-published author and public speaker since 2011 and a frequent spoken word artist at local churches and events. Stephanie's books will make you laugh, cry, have you ask the hard questions, find comfort in the midst of loss and heartache, find humor in the sadness, and break free of negative self-talk.

Check out Stephanie on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Her books are available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and LuLu.

Stephanie shouted out fellow author: Yvonne Marie M.Ed. author of Kill The Busy Save the Bee.

In this week's episode I am sharing my pregnancy story; keeping the Mother's Day Vibe going! Enjoy :-)

At two months postpartum I decided to record this episode while my experience was still fresh in my mind. Pregnancy is amongst the top life changing events a woman can experience in a lifetime if not THE MOST. No birth story is the same. No pregnancy is the same. I am just sharing my story of how I found out I was pregnant, what it was like being pregnant for the first time, and being diagnosed with gestational hypertension at 37 weeks pregnant. Yes it was overwhelming at times, but I knew in the end it would all be worth it!

It’s time to set the record straight! This week's episode focuses on the Millennial Facts and the oh so wrong and misinformation that is constantly circulated about Millennials. I even pulled some research that provides the numbers if you enjoy data like me :-)

The flow of this week's episode will be:

  • Who are we?
  • Why are we so unique?
  • Myths
  • Facts

According to #Pew research

“Millennials are the largest generation in the U.S. labor force”.

“Early Benchmarks Show ‘Post-Millennials’ on Track to Be Most Diverse, Best-Educated Generation Yet.”

“Millennials stand apart from the young adults of the Silent generation when it comes to education, employment and home life.”

According to an article released by forbes.com Andrew Pietro

“Loan forbearance is not payment forgiveness or even deferment. Instead, all the missed payments, plus interest, are often due when the forbearance period ends; If the loan is federally backed—and about 70% of mortgages in the U.S. are backed or insured by a federal agency—then the mortgage servicer is supposed to grant it.” — You can read the full article here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/andrewdepietro/2020/03/31/banks-deferment-mortgage-coronavirus/amp/

—Remember that extra coverage of payment-protection insurance to cover your account if you become ill or unemployment offered by credit card companies? Check to see if you opted in!

—Auto Insurance payback!! Did you know some auto insurance companies are issuing a partial refund of premiums and/or monthly payments?

—Payment extensions

—Deferred Payments

While credit cards, loans or lines of credit are valuable resources, there may be other ways to meet your financial obligations:

**Is it possible to have another source of income that could temporarily help satisfy your financial need?

**Can you work out a plan with creditors or renegotiate payments or terms with them?

**Are there places in your budget where you can cut back or pool resources with others? For example, you could cut out nonessential services (like Subscriptions, Memberships, cable TV etc), find lower-cost options or swap services (like lawn maintenance).

**Some utility companies may work with you to set up a plan to spread your costs evenly over a year. So instead of fluctuating payments each month with some high months and some low months, you’ll have one average payment that you can expect to pay each month.
