Luke 10:42 (NKJV)

42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

One thing – not two… one. It’s needed. And if you know what it is – you will not let anyone take it from you.

How could God send anyone to hell? Is there life after death? How does anyone know for sure? If God is good and loving it just seems so unfair for someone’s punishment to be forever!

Yes, those are comments and questions many have. But, life after death IS real, and heaven AND hell are real too!

The next two scriptures will be our foundation for this series…

Matthew 25:41 (NKJV) 41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV) 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Mark 16:15 (NKJV) 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

Simple instructions – one word – two letters – that just happen to be the first two letters in God – that just happen to be the first two letters in Gospel – that just happen to be the first two letters in Good!

Jesus came to the earth for one purpose, one goal, and one reason. It’s simple, not complicated, and is perfectly summed up in one Bible verse…

Luke 19:10 (NKJV) 10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Exodus 25:8–9 (NKJV)

8 And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.

9 According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it.

According to… the pattern… just so you shall make it.

Another title I could give this series is “God’s Prophetic Pattern.” The Word of God never ceases to amaze me. The truths I am about to share will amaze you too. Every word, every detail, and pattern we see in the Word is not without great significance. God instructed Moses to build a sanctuary for Him to dwell among His people. He gave Moses a pattern, a blueprint so to speak, with specific details that were very important to follow.

The New King James Version interprets it as, “According to all that I show you… the pattern… just so you shall make it.”

You might think this is a devotion on the flesh vs. the spirit, but rather, it’s a devotion on how we can use our flesh in a positive way to move to the Spirit!

Smith Wigglesworth said it this way… Start out in the flesh and end up in the Spirit

A Very Important Question

Mark 11:28 (NKJV) And they said to Him, “By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority to do these things?”

There is a lot that happened before the religious leaders asked Jesus this question. Actually they were asking two questions, and if we analyze them properly we find an interesting fact.

  1. By what authority are you doing these things?
  2. Who gave you this authority to do these things?

A Very Important Question

Mark 11:28 (NKJV) And they said to Him, “By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority to do these things?”

There is a lot that happened before the religious leaders asked Jesus this question. Actually they were asking two questions, and if we analyze them properly we find an interesting fact.

  1. By what authority are you doing these things?
  2. Who gave you this authority to do these things?

Exodus 24:12 (NKJV) 12 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you tablets of stone, and the law and commandments which I have written, that you may teach them.”

The important thing to understand is that God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses for one simple reason – to teach them. Teach them to who? Teach them to God’s people.

GOOD GROUND

If the ground is the heart… then we could say, “The good ground is the good heart.” If we have to prepare the ground, we could say, “we have to prepare our heart.” If another word for our “heart” is our “spirit,” then, the preparation of our heart is spiritual preparation. If the wayside, the stones, and the thorns, are the hindering issues, then the wayside, the stones, and the thorns represent spiritual hindrances.

There are three “thorns” mentioned by Mark - the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things.

  1. The cares of this world = distraction
  2. The deceitfulness of riches = delusion
  3. The desire for other things = defocus

Luke 8:14–15 (NKJV) 14 Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

Tribulation is the trials and difficulties of life. Maturity to handle these and to effectively walk through them takes time to acquire. Because of improper time priorities, the time to acquire them quickly becomes the time of impatience, discouragement, disappointment, and desperation. We have been so busy with other things and put the things of God on the back burner. Our root connected to Him has withered!

William Gouge – Of Domestical Duties – Written in 1622 The metaphor of a head declares both the dignity of a husband and the duty of a husband. As a head is set above the body, so is a husband to his wife. As a head, by the understanding which is in it, governs, protects, preserves, and provides for the body, so does the husband his wife. At least, he ought to do so, for this is his office and duty.

Abraham had the vision. So much, he became the “FATHER” of many nations. How? It says it very clear in Genesis 18:19. It all began with his “household.”

Genesis 18:19 (KJV) 19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

There’ve been a lot of teaching and books written about men being the King and Priest of their home. However, there’s a higher calling than King and Priest – it’s FATHER. Even THE KING OF KINGS is subject to His Father!

Hear and receive what? We need to pay attention very closely – this is a major key for us to be ready and prepared for His return!

The last prophecy of the Old Testament and the first of the New Testament both declare an end-time revival before the return of the Lord. They do not mention anything about large evangelistic meetings, massive outpourings of repentance, or an increase in amazing miracles. This does not mean those manifestations will not take place; however, they do mention one thing that definitely will – the hearts of fathers turning to the children.

Yes, there is the high rank of Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, however, God the Father is the highest rank.
