It’s important to me that I keep a positive mindset especially during the most challenging moments in my life. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know my struggles with weight loss. I’ve spent most of my life sliding up and down the scale from when I was growing up, college weight and then trying to lose weight after having my two kids. In fact, I started my @HealthyJenell page after giving birth to my daughter where I shared my post-baby weightloss journey.

As a wife, mom and entrepreneur, I know how difficult it can be finding time to exercise throughout the week. I’m here to tell you it’s not easy, but with some discipline and consistency, it IS possible.
In this episode, I share the 4 ways I stay motivated to work out.

There’s something magical about this time of year!
I love fall, but after the initial excitement of pumpkin-flavored drinks and sweater weather wears off, the shorter days and chilly temperatures can leave me feeling physically and mentally drained. If this is the case for you, too, you’re not alone. As the season changes, it’s natural for our moods to shift too. Experts have confirmed that a decrease in daylight can affect our sleep, energy levels, and social ability.
While it’s essential to take steps to protect your mental health all year round, the change in seasons may require extra support. We need to be proactive to prevent the fall and winter blues from setting in. This year, I’ve decided to make a commitment to protect my mental health by picking up new hobbies that support me in a positive way.
Today I want to talk with you about some of the hobbies I plan to take on and I’ve thrown in a few hobbies that I personally won’t be doing but I do think they will be great for you.

This episode of the Look on the Bright Side Podcast is sponsored by Prevent Child Abuse America
Healthy children become healthy adults. And healthy adults contribute to a more productive, equitable, and flourishing society.
Prevent Child Abuse America is the nation’s premier organization committed to preventing child abuse and neglect before it happens. A pioneer in the field for the past 50 years, PCA America is uniquely positioned to lead the movement to help children and families thrive—today, tomorrow, and for generations to come. Their approach works at two levels—boots-on-the-ground programs as well as actions that impact systems-level change.
Evidence shows that stress and trauma caused by childhood adversity can interrupt healthy child development, and affect how the body responds to stress, putting children and adults at lifelong risk for health issues, like mental illness, depression, heart disease, and substance use problems, as well as economic consequences such as diminished educational achievement and job opportunities.
Preventing childhood adversity is critical to building a more equitable, healthy and prosperous communities. And PCAA knows what works. Preventing adversity starts by eliminating the stresses that can overload parents.

Sex education has always been a difficult topic to discuss with our kids, and it's only getting harder. However uncomfortable this may be, you’re the right person to do it for your kids.
One of the most common parent worries is how do they start having a conversation about sex. Do you sit your kids down one day and have a serious conversation? Do you leave them brochures or books on their bed? What's the best way?
As a parent, you cannot rely on the school system to provide sex education for your children. In many cases, schools provide no sex education at all; in others, the information provided is often inadequate or one-sided. Even if your child's school provides a very good sex education course, it may not begin until a time when your child needs your guidance on this subject.
You should begin talking to your child long before they start asking you questions about sex education. If you do not, they will get their information from other sources that are unreliable, wrong, or incomplete.
In today’s episode, we’re joined by Casey Wike, a mom, wife, sex educator, and parenting coach who has been in education for the past 13 years. She has a wide range of subject area expertise and has taught Pre-K through college-level courses as well as training teachers and parents. Casey now runs her own business, supporting parents and caregivers one on one and in small groups to help them feel comfortable and confident when talking to their children about subjects such as sex, relationships, and their bodies.
This is going to be a fun but slightly uncomfortable conversation. However, I do feel this conversation is a great one to have with your children. Happy listening!

I love a good conversation! Especially when that conversation leads to actionable steps I can use in my business to make money. We know what the statistics say about WOC entrepreneurs. While we are the fastest-growing population of start-ups, our businesses grow slower, and many never reach the six-figure mark.
Let's change that by sharing our hard-won lessons.
In this episode, I've called on my peers to discuss the mistakes we've made on our path to six figures. Let each one of our mistakes be a guide for you as you grow your business.

It's my biirthday!!! So today, I am getting super intimate with YOU - my community of supporters and listeners.
We're talking about the importance of your "why" and getting clear on the factors that motivate you. If your why is big enough, nothing will stop you from reaching your goals. But if your why isn't strong enough, then even the slightest obstacle will seem like an insurmountable hurdle.
Now, you know I'm all about Looking On The Bright Side, but I realize that the exercises that I take you through during this episode can bring up many raw emotions; however, my promise is that there is clarity on the other side that can be healing.
As you listen to this episode, I encourage you to go deep.
So ask yourself this: WHY, Why am I doing this? And more importantly, is my why big enough?

Hey Loves! Can I ask a personal question...
How are your finances?
If that question makes you squirm in your seat, we need to figure out why? Are you scared to face the credit report? Does the idea of investing send shock waves through your system? We waste time operating in fear mode instead of taking the actions that move our finances forward.
I love to talk about building your business and offering you solutions to common challenges around that, but today I'm switching it up just a little. I'm joined by a financial coach and friend, Bella Jones, and she's sharing Smart Money Moves that you should be making in your 20's, 30's, and 40's. Hey Loves, sometimes the biggest flex for every entrepreneur is finding the nerve to start and the motivation to stay consistent. These two factors are responsible for the success of every thought leader and change-maker like my next guest, Michael Artis, Media Advertising Executive and Designer/Creative Director of the street-wear label, MALL ANOMALY.
In this episode, Michael shares how perfectionism prevented him from launching his brand - despite having everything he needed at his fingertips - and his steps to get started. We cover everything from creation, industry -tools to producing your own quality photoshoot. This episode is for everyone AND anyone who allows perfectionism (which is really Imposter Syndrome repackaged) to prevent them from taking action on their million-dollar idea.

Hey Loves! Today I'm answering a question I'm often asked "why the heck did I quit my successful YouTube channel and begin selling courses?"
Leaving my YouTube channel wasn't a really hard decision and in this episode I share exactly why it was so easy for me.
But you know what was really hard? Making the decision of what I was going to do next. I knew leaving my YouTube channel would effect my brand revenue because my income was tied to the work I did on my YouTube channel. I spent a year brainstorming what I would do next.
Should I go get a job?
Should I do uber?
Should I just stick with this?
I was so unsure of what to do next!
After meeting a woman named Danielle Leslie at a tech conference, I was inspired to make my first online course. I had no idea what topic my first online course would be but I finally decided to create an online course teaching people something I knew how to do really really well.
Tune in for the full in depth story.

My first theme that we're going to dive into for 2020 is Start Before You're Ready. This is going to be so impactful because as a business coach, as a course creator, I am meeting so many people that I have to continuously motivate to do this very thing.
Today we are discussing the fear of starting. If you're someone that is often fearful and usually has a hard time with moving past your fear to make the decisions you want to make or do those things that you've set up for yourself to do here are the things that I do.
I'm sharing what I've done to make the transition from what I think I want to do and actually doing it and how this has guided me to move past fear. With these steps that I'm sharing I don't have fear and I'm always able to take the necessary steps in order to get from point A to point B.

I recently came back from a work retreat with my business partner. We visited Bonaire. I’m not sure if any of you have ever heard of Bonaire, it’s a small island not too far from Aruba, Curacao, and South America.
One of the things we did amongst all the fun in Bonaire was brainstorm ideas and layout the plans for my Digital Content Creation School for 2020. We came up with lots of ideas for trainings, webinars, freebies, masterclasses, courses, podcasts and more. All of this information is shared through my email list. If you’re not on it already, sign up here.
As we were coming up with ideas for podcast topics we came up with this idea for me to share the business tools that I’m using to run my business. And I loved this idea. I was so excited, I just couldn’t wait to record this episode. I know that there’s so many of you out there that want to become business owners and social entrepreneurs. Some of you want to start a blog and you’re not always really sure what tools you should use to help you do some of your day to day tasks.
And while I know that my line of work may not align with everyone’s line of work, but maybe you have a hobby or a side hustle where something that I’m going to share today can absolutely help support what you’re doing. If you’re a content creator or someone who plans to sell courses one day then all of the tools that I share today or at least most, will be in line with with tools that you need.

We all know the detriments of putting ourselves down. When we tell ourselves we’re not good enough too many times, we truly begin to believe it, and for many people, mornings aren’t the easiest. The feeling of getting out of bed to exercise, go to work, or take on any other responsibility we feel obligated to do is tough. But that’s because we make it tough. We tell ourselves Mondays are the worst. We tell ourselves it’s too early to exercise. Thoughts begin to circulate in our heads regarding all the things we have to do, all the things we should be doing, and all the things we actually want to do but don’t feel like we deserve or have time for. This negativity only brings on stress.
Mantras are words or phrases meant to be chanted either internally or out loud as a means of meditating. They originated about 3,000 years ago in India, at least to the Vedic tradition, in which they were used to influence and control the gods. Throughout history, they have continued to be used in various ways to promote transformation. In our modern day Western world, they are often seen as a means to shifting our perspectives in order to welcome a new sense of self. In the words of Buddha, “What we think, we become.”
To help you find the beauty in each day, and at every moment, try changing the way you view yourself in this world by incorporating these 31 motivational mantras. You can read one every day for the month, write them on a sticky note, store them in your phone, tweet them or just say them to yourself.

Um, if this is your first episode that you've ever heard of me of mine, then um, let me just take one second to tell you that I am the founder of the digital content creation school and I started this school in December of 2018 as a way to help content creators that are coming up. Like I did get the support that they need and get the tools because content creation is a field that many people create on their own. We're not necessarily going to college for it, we're not getting degrees in it, but we typically are self taught and I wanted to help speed up that process of elevation for my members by giving them the tools that they need to figure it out.:
Whether you're doing a blog, whether you're doing a youtube channel, a podcast, or selling online materials like an ebook or a course. I wanted to make sure that my community had those tools and I knew that they wanted it because they were asking me for it. So I already had that available to me to know like there is a need. And so I just aim to deliver and I have a very giving spirit as you guys know. So creating this new business venture

Take My Digital Content Creation Training Course
Training courses help build self confidence and wisdom but most importantly they get you inspired to achieve your goals. I have a FREE 1 week Content Prep School training that will teach you the essential skills and techniques you need in order to grow your digital brand from the ground up. My training answers the question "How do I start?", giving you clarity on how to grow your brand so that you can make money. After 1 week you will have wisdom and self-confidence.
If you think great leaders are born and not made, think again. Successful leaders have a clear, sound vision of where they want to go but they had to develop this ability. Training gives you the chance to step back from your daily responsibilities, to examine your brand, and to think about how the future may unfold. You’ll learn how to communicate your vision in a way that truly motivates the people around you. I want to empower you to succeed. My training course uses various techniques and examples to emphasize the point that with a little hard work we all have it in us to be great leaders.
My trainings take place on Mondays, take the first step and enroll now. You will be well on your way to success come Monday.
Ready to grow a 1k followers on your Instagram in months? Here's how!
Seek Out A Professional Mentor
If you have goals that scare you it's time to get mentoring. You can reach out to someone like me who works with women to scale and monetize their brands or someone who does something that you want to be doing. You never know if someone offers mentorship or what they charge for it until you asked. My first mentorship program was $1k and I made 6 figures as a result. Wouldn't you say that was worth the investment? Set up a call with me here.
Whatever you do, make sure you make the best out of this new year!

If you choose to be in a committed relationship such as marriage, you must accept that you will have disagreements. I don't always agree with my mom, my best friend or even my business partners. Disagreements are part of relationships, it's very unlikely that you will always agree with your husband.
Some disagreements will escalate into fights and when this happens our emotions go wild and at times we lose control. Logic and reason go out the door and we become so upset that we resort to cursing, extreme emotional reactions and in the worse case we become violent and physically abusive.
In podcast episode #2 I share with you how I've learned and practiced fair fighting in my marriage.
