Did you know that going outside for just 20 minutes a day can have great positive effects in your brain and even helps with your moods? It does. Imagine if we could do more every single day, what kind of an impact that could be on our souls. In our study of James, he is going to tell us to get outside, but not the outdoors, but outside of ourselves. Listen to the very important message from the book of James about our need to "Get Outside".

We are back in our study of the book of James. Today we will be learning about the muscle that can move mountains. What is the strongest muscle in our bodies? Pound for pound, it would either be the quadriceps or the glutes, but James tells us that the strongest muscle in our bodies is our tongue. He tells us in 3:2 that if we could control/tame our tongues, then we would be perfect. Wouldn't that be nice?!

As we continue our study, highlighting passages of scripture through the book of James, we come to our next section in James 2. The title of the message comes from the thought process of those who go camping or backpacking, where you pick up all your mess, don't take anything with you, so that all of those who come after you, won't be able to tell that you were there in the wilderness. But you see, that is not what happens when God moves in to your life when you get saved. You will definitely be changed.

We begin an overview study in the book of James in this message called "The Call Of The Wild." It takes a lot of work to stay wild. We will see what it takes to stand our ground and why it is so important to do so, besides God telling us to.

In this final chapter of Jonah, we see that it's just weird. We have a cliffhanger. We don't know the end of the story. Yet, there is much to say in this chapter for us today. We all have had our emotions get the better of us. How do we deal with that? We are often tempted to trust our emotions and our heart before we trust God. That will only lead to misery. We must trust the Lord with our whole heart and lean not on our own understanding (or emotions), then God will direct our paths.

We continue our series in Jonah, by coming to chapter 3 and seeing living proof that God is not done with you. Even if you stray from the Lord, God is not done with you. Jonah 3:1 tells us that the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time. Praise the Lord for a God that gives second chances. Well, let's be honest: second, third, ninety-third, etc. chances.

We are in our second week in the study of the life and book of Jonah. Last week we saw that Jonah didn't want to go to Nineveh, so he ran as far from Nineveh as he possibly could, Tarshish. Storm comes and Jonah is thrown overboard and a fish swallows him. Now, he starts praying, but God doesn't immediately answer. So what do we do when we are waiting on God?

We have finally made it to the end of our study on the Sermon on the Mount. As exciting as that may be, we must not take Jesus' final words as easy, for they are hard, they are important. Jesus is still speaking to those who consider themselves religious. They are the ones who go to church and give, and they might even be in positions of leadership, but they do not have the right foundation. They have been deceived, either by a false teacher or themselves. Jesus warns us of empty hearts. We need to be doers of the Word of God and not hearers only.

We are coming close to the end of our sermon series on the Sermon on the Mount. In this message, we will be dealing with those who have empty words. That means, that they say one thing, but they don't believe it. They may call God the Lord of their life, but they do not truly believe it. They have been self-deceived by their own self-righteousness. That will never get them to heaven. We need to make sure that we do not have empty words.

As we are nearing the end of our study of Christ's great Sermon On The Mount, we come to the apex, the climax, of the message. Jesus has be comparing two ways of life throughout this message, human accomplishment vs. divine accomplishment. The human kind is all about how self-righteous a person is, doing all they can to make their own way to Heaven or their version of it. The divine kind is resting in that God has already done it and we can't add to it. Those that follow the divine will make it to heaven, those that don't, will not, no matter how 'religious' they are. There is only one way to heaven. Which way are you on? Which way will get you to heaven?

Yes, we are still in our series on the Sermon on the Mount, but we have learned a lot over the last several months as we took a deep dive into this passage. This message will be no different. We are digging in one of the most quoted verses in the Bible, Matthew 7:1 (NKJV) - "Judge not, that you be not judged." There is a lot of misconceptions about that verse, which we will talk about today, but we are going to see that many have the wrong view of God, the wrong view of others, as well as a wrong view of self. What we need is the right balance.

We are going to see 4 things that worry is from this passage: unfaithful, unnecessary, unreasonable, and unwise. Join us as we learn that we need not worry about every little thing, or even the big things.

As we continue our series on the Sermon on the Mount, we come to Matthew 6:19-24. God wants all of His children to keep their eyes on the right treasures, the right vision, and on the right master. Seeing that there are right versions of all of these, means that there are wrong ones as well. It takes observation, discernment and dedication to make sure that we are eyeing the right prize.

As we get back to our series on the Sermon on the Mount, we come to everyone's favorite topic, fasting. Now, biblical fasting has nothing to do with losing weight, and all that intermittent fasting. It has all to do with worshipping God and seeking His will, direction, protection, etc. in our lives. This message will show us from God's Word what true fasting is all about.

As we pause in our series on the Sermon on the Mount for the last Sunday before Christmas, we are going to cover, "Waiting on God". People have been waiting on God's timing for millennia. We are going to see in our message today that when it seems that God is not doing anything, He is doing something. Whether it be in the situation or in you, God is doing something. God's delays are not God's denials. We just need to be patient and wait on the Lord.

As we continue through the Sermon on the Mount, we come to a portion of Scripture where Jesus teaches us how not to pray. There were those in His day (as well as some in ours) who wanted people to think of them as spiritual as they prayed, whether they used big, verbose words, or that they prayed really long prayers, or other things, their goal was not to commune with God, but to please men. God says that for those who do so, that's all the reward that they will get.

When we do a good deed, it is not to be heralded, it is to be done on the down-low, maybe even hidden. We should not do good deeds only when others can see it and we get praise from it. It should be done for the glory of God, not for the glory of man or especially not for the glory of ourselves.

We are just now finishing up the Matthew 5 in our series on The Sermon On The Mount. Today we are dealing with the last part of the law that Jesus expounded upon. The law says to love your neighbor as yourselves. The religious leaders of the day made a sin of omission by making it easier on themselves by removing the "as yourselves." Then they had a sin of addition where they added to the law that they had every right to hate your enemies. That command is found nowhere in the Bible. Then Jesus totally rocked their world of thinking by telling them that they should love their enemies. Yes, He addressed the Jews of His day, but He is addressing us as well.

As we are nearing the end of Matthew 5, Jesus is expounding yet another law from God's Word, that of the law of retaliation (an eye for an eye). He takes this law of retaliation and he expounds on it for us to not be so quick to take vengeance, instead to sacrifice a little bit of our right to vengeance and forgive them, even allow it to go further. That's why we see Him tell us to turn the other cheek, give them your cloak as well, go the extra mile, and to give to the one who asks. All of these teach us that as followers of Christ, we need to let God take care of our offenses.

As we get back to our series on the Sermon on the Mount, we come to Matthew 5:33-37. We see that Jesus brings up the law of not swearing falsely and whatever oath you make, to fulfill it. This idea does not have to do with cussing, but about being a person of your word. That is why I titled this message "Be a Person of Integrity." We need to be people who will say what we mean and mean what we say. We should be truthful enough that our word should be enough for others to believe.

This message is titled "Indivisible." It will speak to how we as the body of Christ need to be indivisible, set aside the attitude of division. We need each other and we will love each other as Jesus loved us.

The Old Testament Law says that you must have a certificate of divorce, and Jesus expounds on that law. Is divorce a sin? What if I've already been divorced? What if I want a divorce? These questions and more will be answered in this message today.

This is part 2 of the last Beatitude in our series. As was stated last week, persecution is not something that most of us experience in America. There are those around the world who experience it almost daily for their belief in God. Yet, if we live out the beatitudes of Matthew 5, we will be lovingly confrontational to this world's beliefs. As a result we will be reviled and persecuted.

If we are living out the beatitudes that we have been talking about over the last several weeks, we will be oppositional to this world's beliefs. As a result we will be shunned, talked about, even persecuted. "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 5:10 (NKJV)

We need to face our questions as well as why we are doing so. We also need to value the truth in love. Too many err on one side or the other, but God calls us to address the truth in love.

Today, we have guest speaker, Harold Rinehart bringing the Word of God to us today. May you be challenged and encouraged. He spoke from Romans 12:1-2 about how we are to be growing in our relationship with the Lord. We can't just be doing nothing thinking that since God loves them just as they are that they don't need to progress in growing closer to Him. That's heresy. That's a false gospel. We are expected to mature as a believer.

We are in our 3rd week of our series, "You In Five Years." One of the best things we can do to be drastically different is make small changes that will take hold of that compound interest that we talked about in the first week. Something small that over time will lead to something amazing. You don't have to be a Billy Graham in your witness. Just start with one. You don't have to be a health guru, just start with limiting your biggest craving. One by one, they add up, to make a difference in 5 years. As the old proverb says, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

We close our series on "Doubting God" by looking into what we should do "When You Feel Abandoned By God." Things come up in our lives and we think, "If God loves me, then this wouldn't have happened," or "If God is good, why does He allow bad things to happen?" The thoughts can go on and on, but we need to remember when we feel alone or that God has forsaken us that God is always with us. As believers we should turn our "Why, God?" questions to "What, God?" As Spurgeon states and as the old song sings, "When you can't trace His hand, trust His heart."

We think that when we go through a difficult time in our lives that God is sleeping, that He's silent. Today we will see that He is with us through the storm and we are there because God has a purpose for us in the midst of the storm.

One of the most potent offenses against anxiety and worries is prayer. Pray should never be our last option. Prayer not only moves the heart of God but it also, literally, changes our brains. In this message, we will learn how to give God our worries and leave them with Him, because He can deal with them a whole lot better than we can.

We continue our series on "Winning the War In Your Mind" by looking at how we are to deal with the negative thoughts in our mind. It doesn't matter how successful or decent your life may be, we can all still complain about something. Instead of focusing on the negative, we need to reframe our thinking to the way that God and His Word would have us to think. We are to think on that which is good and lovely and pure and more according to Philippians 4:8.

We continue our series on "Winning The War In Your Mind," by looking at how we need to renew our minds. Scripture explicitly states that the way to renew our minds is to think on that which is pure and holy and the like from Philippians 4:8. God's Word is all of those things, and that is what is going to renew our minds, so we can take it back from our sinful self, and win the war in our minds.

Today we start a new series on winning the war in your mind. Most of our life's battles are won or lost in the mind, so it is important for us to strengthen our mind in the Lord. It is so easy to get caught up in the worries and negativity of this world. God would have us to be peaceful and more positive, but mostly, eternal minded. This message is about how God can win the constant war in our minds.

It is similar to hypocrisy but it's the attitude that we are self-sufficient, self-important, and that we participate in self-exultation. Jesus wants to undo all of that, and have us empty ourselves of us so that we can be filled up by God's grace and be used by God.

What Would Jesus Undo? He would undo the hypocrisy in our lives. Hypocrisy is not the inconsistency between what we do and what we wish we could do. Hypocrisy is the gap between what we show and who we really are. Jesus doesn't want that in our lives. He was constantly against the Pharisees of His day, mainly because they were hypocrites. If we have in our lives, we have to remove it, no matter how much it hurts.

In this series, we are going to ask a different question, "What would Jesus undo?" There are things that are going on the lives of many Christians that would be considered them spiritually indifferent. We will talk about what causes it, what are some indicators of it, as well as one thing that will help us get out of Spiritual Indifference.

Today we learn what happens when we get control over our thoughts.

As we study what a disciple of Jesus Christ does, we see that, just like Jesus, a disciple will wash other's feet. To most of us, that sounds nasty, but it was a reference in the Bible to humbly submit and serve one another. No one is better than another. Jesus, the Son of God, humbled Himself in servitude to the disciples and washed their feet. Who do we need to serve today? What is keeping you from serving those God has called you to serve?

Today, we are looking at what it really means to be a disciple of Jesus.

Today we will be taking Communion after our worship service. What better time to learn about what Communion is all about than on the day that we join together worshipping God with it. We are going to learn that there are 3 things that Communion teaches us to look at. So instead of just taking it because we have always done it, let's learn why we do it.

God calls us and even challenges us to be generous with what He has blessed us with. It is truly amazing to see that when we are faithful to Him over what He has already given us, that He entrusts more to us. Some people believe that they have to wait until they are "rich" or "wealthy" to be generous, but that's just not true. Join us today as we find out what happens "When You Stop Holding Back."

This Friday is referred to as Good Friday. Why is that? It is because Jesus Christ died on the cross. I know that doesn't sound good, but because Jesus died on the cross, that was when everything changed. Because Jesus died, we now have access to God through His perfect sacrifice for us. Jesus' crucifixion has changed our past, our future and our present.

The middle is the hardest part of any task or journey. The beginning is fun and the end is fulfilling, but the middle is where drudgery can set in. When you are in the middle, we can get testy, frustrated, and doubt may set in. Jesus shows up in the middle, as He tells us that He will never leave us or forsake us.

We all have asked God to do something for us, that He didn't do. Does that make Him less than what God should be? No. Does that mean that He let me down? Maybe? No, He didn't let you down, because He's still in your corner cheering you on. He wants you to succeed in this life. Because He didn't do what you wanted Him to do when you wanted Him to do it, does not mean He let you down. He is with us and will never forsake us.

God commands us to forgive one another. That includes that person who hurt you or your loved one. That includes the ex who emotionally abused you. That includes the parent who didn't show their love to you, and instead physically abused you. That includes everyone who has done anything against you or someone you love. To forgive them doesn't mean that you belittle the hurt. We are to forgive them as much as God has forgiven us, which, by the way, if you didn't know, is everything. This message could offend you, but I pray that it is a message that will, instead, set you free from unforgiveness.

Bitterness is like drinking poison and expecting it to hurt the other person. It doesn't work like that, it really only hurts us. In this message, we will learn how to kill the root of bitterness in our lives. It won't be easy, but following God isn't always easy. If we are able to let go of that bitterness, we can truly enjoy our walk with God so much more.

"I'm right and you are not. My way is smart, yours is dumb." These are the thoughts of people who think that they are always right. The problem with always having the need to correct or just yell at someone for not being right (in your eyes) is that Jesus never called us to be right. He called us to be loving. Who cares if you are right, if you are not loving and kind? Our desire to be loving should be more prevalent in our lives than our desire to always be right.

The problem with that is, if we are too focused on our past or our future, we will totally miss what is happening right now. We need to be present, to be here, right now, in this moment. We're not talking about not planning for the future or learning from our past, but we are talking about being present in the now. If you are able to do that, then your best days are now!

But sometimes, that leads us to a life of constant busyness, that's not what God wants from us either. He does call us to rest. We need it. If we do not slow down on our own, He may have to make us slow down.

How are we supposed to pray when we are in the middle of a trial? How can we worship Him when things are good? God calls us to pour our hearts out to Him, even if it's in frustration. God can handle it. Hopefully as your worship Him through your pain, it will turn to praise.

When the Wise Men came to see Jesus from afar, they came to worship Him. They worshipped Him by bringing gifts to Jesus, gold, frankincense, and myrrh. When we come to worship God, we need to bring gifts to Him, too. We can bring our gifts of material possessions, but most importantly, we give Him the ultimate gift of our lives.

Once you realize that I'm Invited, and then that I'm Invaluable, and finally that I'm Influential, the natural response for the child of God is that I'm Invested. Yes, this is a message about giving, but for the child of God, this is just a part of what God desires from us. Does God need our money? No, but if we fail in this area, we are hurting ourselves and those to whom we could be a blessing. Don't rob God, nor yourself by not being generous with what God has given you.

Many people think that if they have been done wrong or hurt, they have the right to hold a grudge, to become bitter about it. As believers, we do not have that permission to do so, even though we still do. God has commanded us time and time again to forgive. Today, we focus on how we can forgive even when it hurts.
