Grief is real, but so is resurrection. We do not mourn as those without hope, because our risen King is coming again. The trumpet will sound, the dead in Christ will rise, and no believer will be left behind. Until that Day, we live as children of the light: awake, alert, and assured. We put on faith, love, and the hope of salvation, encouraging one another and building each other up. The King is coming. God shaped Thomas with loyalty, thoughtfulness, and strength; not to doubt, but to depend. Even in his questions, Jesus met him with mercy and called him deeper into faith. Each day is a new chance to live a joyful Christian life. Colossians 1 details how we may live a joyful Christian life that honors Christ and allows our church and ourselves to flourish.
In our walk with Christ, we must be simultaneously cautious and confident. Cautious that we don't change or diminish the doctrine of the Lord. While also being confident in your faith and what the Lord has called you to.
Are you cautious in your walk with Christ? Avoiding the lies of the world toward our savior. Are you confident in your walk with Christ? Knowing that whatever obstacle you may face, as long as you face it with faith in the Lord's power and grace.
God's word fuels our spiritual growth in the same way food and water fuel our physical bodies. Psalm 119 describes God's word as a lamp at our feet that lights our path and gives us more understanding of how to live our lives.
Without God's word, we wander through our days as if we are walking in the dark. Through God's word and the community we are blessed with, we can avoid the spiritual stagnation that comes with isolation.
Are you allowing God to transform your life through scripture? Who can you be in community with to reap the benefits of the daily bread of scripture?
Giving to others isn't just a good deed; it's a way to emulate the life of our savior and grow in our faith. Luke 12 teaches us the importance of being Generous Givers, and it takes more than physical wealth to do it.
It can be easy to become anxious or jealous of our physical and financial state compared to others. However, anxiety and jealousy result from not focusing on what matters most: the kingdom of heaven.
Do you know what really counts? Are you trusting in the provision of God? The Lord calls us to be fearlessly generous because He's faithfully generous.
"Iron sharpens iron" is a phrase rooted in scripture. It is something we must do to become more like Christ. Luke 24 explores our need to be sharpened as Christians and what it means to be an Iron Sharpener.
We aren't called to live life alone, and we aren't cut out to be alone as Christians. We need people in our lives to sharpen us and push us closer to Christ. As others pour into us, we also have the chance to be Iron Sharpeners to others.
Don't allow yourself to lose your edge as a Christian. We are useless to Christ if we walk around like a dull knife.
Servant Leadership isn't the easiest form of leadership, but it is the best way to bring others and ourselves closer to Christ. Luke 22 shows us that servant leaders live to serve and lead others to serve.
Servant Leadership will involve struggles and suffering. Not everyone you encounter will share your vision of bringing others to Christ. But if you keep your eyes on the bigger picture of the kingdom of heaven, you can be the servant leader Christ has made us all to be.
Who in your community can you live to serve for? Who are you pouring into and pushing towards serving others?
We are called to bring people the good news of the gospel as ambassadors of Christ and let him change their lives. Luke 4 shows us what true gospel ambassadors look like and how we can emulate the way Jesus brought the gospel to the people around him.
There is a lot of darkness and bad news in today's world. But as Gospel Ambassadors, we have the chance to bring people good news and bring hope to non-believers.
How far are you willing to go to share the gospel with people who don't know Christ? Whether it's one person or 50, don't underestimate the power of sharing the gospel with each person you encounter.
As followers of Jesus, we are called to leave a mark and spread the gospel in all the places we go. Luke 4 exemplifies how we can leave a mark by building bridges with those who don't know Jesus.
Building bridges doesn't come easy. You will face internal and external barriers that may make it hard to build bridges. But with the power of the Holy Spirit in us, we can overcome these barriers and help bring people closer to Jesus.
Are you building bridges to Christ in your communities? Where in your life can you rely on the Holy Spirit to bring the love of Christ to the people in your life?
Worship isn't just for Sundays at Church. We begin our new study "Follow me" as we look to see how we can follow and be more like Jesus, by going through the 7 marks of a follower. Luke 6 details what it means and what it looks like to be a Daily Worshipper.
Daily Worship is a vertical and horizontal experience. We personally worship and grow with the Father and then express our response to and with others in our everyday lives.
Being a follower of Christ will come with hard days and tough decisions. But our vertical relationship with Christ will fuel our horizontal response to the world. Are you trusting in the Lord and fulfilling the mission he has called you to?
We are saved to reflect Jesus on Earth. Haggai 2 illustrates how our lives cleanliness, purity, and holiness matter to God.
Don’t believe the lie that holy works make you holy. Personal sin can contaminate all the good work you may do, if not dealt with.
Your life will get scuffed like a new pair of shoes. But if you come to the Lord daily, he will wash and make you clean again. Are you being stirred up to stay clean?
God's peace is the ultimate peace. Haggai 2 shows us why we can be confident in the Lord's work, not shaken up.
Don't let fear and discouragement steal your blessings and effectiveness to the Kingdom of God.
Are you confident in the Lord's power and presence? Or are you allowing yourself to be shaken but not stirred?
Delayed obedience is disobedience. Haggai 1 calls out our procrastination and how we put our own priorities before the Lord's.
Procrastination and preoccupation will lead you away from your priorities to the Lord. But, by taking a step back and looking at how we can be used for the kingdom of God we give ourselves a chance to overcome procrastination and preoccupation.
As we begin a new year, consider your ways and how you may use your time. Are you focused on your own house, or are you focused on building up the house of the Lord?
We are all broken people. John 21 shows us that there is grace in our brokenness and still a chance at a full life with Christ.
Ego and pride can be the biggest obstacles to living in the glory of God. It’s in our brokenness that God rids us of our ego and pride and allows us to submit to our savior fully.
Where in your life do you feel brokenness? How might the Lord be using that brokenness to bring you closer to him?
The King's Cry is the ultimate declaration of freedom. Matthew 1 sets the stage for why and how we have faith over our fears.
It can be easy to let our fears consume us, and it's even easier to let our enemies take control of our lives.
However, Christ's birth frees us from our fears and the power of our enemies. Are you firm in your faith and believe the Lord will deliver on his promises, just as he's done for centuries?
The King's Cradle is the beginning of the greatest story ever told. Matthew 1 gives us the prelude to the birth of our savior and the importance of where and how he was born.
But it raises two important questions, Who is this child? Why lies he in this mean estate?
Do you respond to those questions with the apathy of the people or the pride of the priests? Or do you respond with the obedience of Joseph or the worship of the Magi?
The Great Commission is a central teaching in the ministry of Jesus Christ. In Matthew 28, Jesus calls each of his followers to go and make disciples of all nations.
Every day, you have the opportunity to make disciples and join people on their journey to life's greatest potential in Christ.
Are you answering the call of Jesus in your life to proclaim the gospel through everything you do?
The Kings Cross offers us the best news we can ever hear. In Matthew 27, Jesus' death on the cross gifts us a forgiven and redeemed life, where we have the chance to be fruitful and offer that same life to those around us.
Life without the cross of Jesus is like the artificial trees we use for decorations and gifts, which often look better on the outside than real ones, but on the inside, they're fake and won't last.
Are you an artificial tree unable to bear fruit and is easily thrown away? Or are you a real tree flowing with the life of Jesus?
As we find our way back to Bethlehem, we look at the King's Coronation and Second Coming. Jesus will bring everything to completion.
We hear the importance of pursuing joy all the time. However, when we are struggling, pursuing joy can sometimes feel impossible. Pastor David teaches Psalm 51 to help us learn to pursue joy with a broken spirit.
Hypocrisy is the gap between what we portray ourselves to be on the outside and our private character. It’s putting on the church face, but personally choosing to do evil while no one is looking. It’s choosing not to practice what you profess with your lips.

We look to the example of Joseph in the Bible to see how he was a man of both vision and virtue.
Nehemiah used his influence for good. He examined the issues, exercised his power, and exemplified the truth.
We must speak the truth in love.
To have a full house, we must flee sexual immorality.
The enemy is common—the devil. In your marriage, it can be easy to fight with each other. Pastor David challenges us to fight for our marriage instead of in our marriage.
The words of marriage matter. Scripture clearly teaches that the words and actions of our marriage and relationships should be an act of worship.
Ephesians 5:1-2 says, "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."
Are you an imitator of God in your relationships?
When we read Ephesians 5 in the Bible, we see clear guidelines for the practice of marriage.
It's easy to see only what's right in front of us. Our problems can consume us, and we fail to keep our perspective on eternity.
This teaching is a good reminder that when we look at people, do we see that person as someone who the blood of Jesus has covered?
One essential practice of marriage is applying the forgiveness you have experienced in Christ.
God is working in your spouse's life to make them more like him.
Before your date, define your mate.
When we look at scripture, we see an emphasis on being in a relationship with someone who has a heart for God.
The truth is, you will not find a perfect person for you. But scripture lays out the relationship that should exist in a marriage.
What is the source of fuel in your relationships? It's easy to replace the Holy Spirit as a fuel source with kids, traveling, and other things. They are all good things, but they are not infinite. They will run out. The Holy Spirit is infinite, and he must be the source of fuel for our relationships.
There is a process we see in Acts 2 that will determine your destiny here on this earth. Through faith in Jesus, your eternal destiny has been determined. When you follow Jesus, there is a process that will determine your earthly destiny. But in order for this process to take place, you must begin.
Your greatest potential in life always involves loving and serving others. God has given you specific gifts to be used to become more like him and to love and serve others. As we study what becoming like Christ looks like, we must maintain a perspective that views God as the author and transformer of our life.
The Holy Spirit calls people through faith to fellowship in his church.
And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47 (ESV)

Reaching your greatest potential in Christ involves a person and a process.
The person? Jesus Christ.
The process? Believe, Belong, Become, Begin
Believe What? This is how we begin our study in Acts 2.
5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned

Jesus is the true vine.
When we keep Jesus' commands, we abide in him. The key to producing fruit in your faith is through abiding in Jesus.
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6 (ESV)
The primacy and preeminence of Christ must rule over all. He rules over your reasoning, your relationships, and your requests.
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 (ESV)
Jesus is the only light of the world. He makes a way to the Father through his light. As we look at what Jesus says, we learn the impact of his statement on humans on a grand scale and on you as an individual.
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst." John 6:35 (ESV)
What does Jesus being the bread of life mean for you? Jesus is the word of God made flesh, prepared by the Father. Through the bread, God gives us life in Christ.
Sin distanced us from God, but as believers, it is inexcusable to be intentionally distant from God. Everything we have is his and everything we do is for him.
John 15:4 says, "4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me."
Believers in Jesus must abide in Christ daily. We must continually seek the presence of God.
Exodus 32 talks about the Israelites worshipping the golden calf. The golden calf was an idol that did not bring God glory. In our own lives, we have idols. We have things we worship that are not God. But we know better. We know we shouldn't be worshipping those things, but we continue doing so. This teaching dives into the importance of remaining in awe and wonder of God, the creator of the universe.
Building the House of God requires the Holy Spirit. Each person has a unique calling to build the House of God. Will you use it?
The tabernacle is a shadow of Jesus. In Exodus 26-31, we see how it is a shadow of his purpose, perfection, provision, and people.
God wants to make a home within our hearts. As we continue on the journey with the children of Israel in Exodus, we see God desires them to build the Tabernacle. What does this mean in your life? Listen and watch now. Take notes, too!
What do a people who live under the reign and rule of God produce? They produce a community of joy and justice, and it all points to being a community of Jesus.
Grace brings us to God. We see this exemplified in Exodus 19 & 20 as Moses and the people of Israel continue on their journey and receive the Ten Commandments. This moment in history points toward Jesus in a fascinating way.
Moses’ leadership is tested in Exodus 18. In the story between him and Jethro, we see 5 key components of great biblical leadership. Each component points to Jesus in the way he led his ministry.
What does it take to win in the wilderness? We often get trapped by our circumstances and aren't sure how to get out. We learn three specific lessons at Wilderness U as we study Israel in a battle with the Amalekites and Moses building an altar for the Lord.

At the time when Israel found itself in utter despair under the rule of Pharaoh and the Egyptians, trying to work themselves out of the harsh reality of bondage, we can find ourselves in the same predicament. Each and every person is born into the bondage of sin, rebellion against God, and no amount of work could ever free us from an eternity of death. This is why we need Jesus. By trusting His work on the cross and His resurrection from the dead, we will be set free. We fight despair by trusting in Gospel promises.

Isaiah 9:6, Mark 1-5 | The four Gospels, especially Mark, provide incredible evidence to back up this name for the Messiah. Jesus is mighty to save us and send us.
Isaiah 9:6, Matthew 4 | Isaiah prophesied that a Messiah King would be born one day. But the kind of names He would be given declare so much more. In Matthew’s Gospel we see Him as a Wonderful Counselor who came to identify with us and guide us through His Word.
