Van Dalen ran at Stony Brook for five years from 2008-2012. She made history as the school's first ever national champion in 2012 after winning the indoor mile at the NCAA Championships. She competed for her native New Zealand in the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics and finished her career as a six-time all-american.
Stony Brook's most famous baseball alum Joe Nathan hops on the pod.
Nathan played at Stony Brook under Coach Matt Senk during the division three era in the late 90's. He went on to become one of the best closers of his era, notching six MLB All-Star nods, the 2009 AL Rolaids Reliever of the Year Award and 377 career saves.
Nathan was Stony Brook's first MLB player, drafted in 1995 by the San Francisco Giants. He spent the majority of his career with the Minnesota Twins (2004-2011) and is the franchise's all-time leader in saves. He was inducted into the Twins Hall of Fame in 2019 and and the Stony Brook Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006.

Ohlmiller led Stony Brook to new heights as one of the nation's most lethal attackers from 2015-2018, guiding the Stony Brook to its first national number one ranking, two Elite 8 trips, and four more conference championships. She is the NCAA's all-time record holder in career points and assists and finished her career as a four-time all-american and two-time finalist for the Tewaaraton Award.
Kylie is a Team USA player and ambassador for the game through her personal brand, KO17 Lacrosse which has inspired the next generation of young LAX players. Her latest endeavor starts this summer with Athletes Unlimited, a brand-new women's pro lacrosse league that will debut on July 23rd in Washington D.C.
The GOAT of Stony Brook Basketball Jameel Warney joins Sam Neidermann on The Howl for episode one of the "Summer Legends Series", a five-part collection of feature interviews with some of Stony Brook's best former student athletes.
Warney finished his Stony Brook basketball career as the program's all-time leading scorer, rebounder, and blocker, and has his number 20 retired at Island Federal Arena. The New Jersey native was the centerpiece of a golden era of Stony Brook hoops under coach Steve Pikeill. Warney led the Seawolves to their first conference tournament title in 2016, putting up a monster 43 points and 10 rebounds on national TV against Vermont in front of a roaring Stony Brook crowd. The Seawolves went on to play Kentucky in their first NCAA Tournament appearance.
Warney became the first Seawolf to play in the NBA in March 2018 when he debuted with the Dallas Mavericks. He won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2017 FIBA Americup in Argentina and was named the tournament's MVP. He currently plays for the SK Knights in Seoul, South Korea.
