Welcome to a brand new series, Rhythms of Grace, where we dive into chapters 11 to 13, and in this subsection, Matthew describes the different ways people respond to Jesus:
1) Some are positive, believing in Him and saying, “You’re the Messiah!”;
2) Some are negative, rejecting Him and saying, “You’re the king of demons!”:
3) Others are neutral, still asking, and doubting.
Our big problem is that we have small expectations.
We put God in a box, thinking we know it all. But God is bigger than our expectations.
God is bigger. His love is bigger!

2020 is now over and we can all agree that it's a year that we will remember because of what we went through.

In America, a huge survey was done among young people ages 16 to 29, and they were asked what they thought of Christianity.
Here are the shocking results: 87% of them said that Christians were judgmental, and 85% said Christians were hypocritical. And one out of four non-Christians said that modern-day Christians were no longer like Jesus.
Rick Warren explained it this way: “Christians are more known for what we are against than what we are for.”
In other words, we love telling people what’s wrong with them. We do that to our kids. We do that to our spouses. And we do that to our unchurched friends.
Friends, what are you known for?
Today, God is inviting you to make your very life a Feast of God’s Love so that everyone who needs mercy receives it through you.
Be the Feast.
Are you overthinking?
A lot of people are. Crisis or no crisis, worry has always been a huge problem. But this pandemic multiplied our worries through the roof. It’s ironic, because our bodies weren’t designed to handle persistent overthinking over the long-term. So many don’t get sick because of the virus, we get sick because of worry over the virus.
But Jesus says, “Life is more than what you see”. Life is bigger than your problems. God is bigger than your problems.
Surrender.Trust.Worship.

Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter… these are just some of the ways on how we connect to the world. And we love it when people like our posts or write comments or even sent us heart emoticons. There is nothing wrong with it however there are people who used these platforms to validate their self-worth and identity. Yes, receiving a hundred likes may give us joy and make us feel worthy and loved but at the end of the day, it leaves us empty. Because it only fills up our emotional hunger but not our spiritual hunger. Deep in our spirits, we only want one thing: Real Love.

Five months ago, we dove into the Gospel of Matthew where we saw King Jesus announce His new Kingdom. And just last month, we started working on the Sermon of the Mount, where King Jesus welcomed the powerless of society as His VIPs.
In this Sermon, Jesus peeled away the outer wrapping of six specific laws to expose God’s heart. The laws against (1) murder, (2) adultery, (3) divorce, (4) oaths, (5) revenge, and (6) hating your enemies.
All these laws are about human relationships. More than anything else, God values our relationships.
Today we will focus on the laws about adultery and divorce.
Believe me, it’s explosive.

Question: Have you ever encountered a snake in your life? What was your initial reaction?
Correct me if I’m wrong but my guess is that you usually don’t think about what you’ll do tomorrow, or next week, or the following month. You don’t think about the future, period. Because all you think about is how to get away from that snake now. That’s what happens in a crisis. And today, our snake is a huge COVID19 crisis. And a lot of people who are afraid don’t think about their future. But that’s precisely what I want you to do today, despite the crisis.
You must create a future for your future.
Speak good stuff into your future!

For today, we’re going to have a special talk because I believe God wants to speak directly to the crisis we’re in right now.
Here’s a fact: So many are afraid.
And this fear is understandable. Thousands are getting sick and thousands are dying. Thousands of OFWs are being sent home. Companies are shutting down. People are being laid off.
We ask, “Will we survive this crisis?”
I want you to know that God knows what you’re going through.
Dear friend, this crisis will end.
Your dawn is coming.
A lot may have changed but the love of God remains the same. And as we slowly unwrap the Gospel of Matthew we will learn of this love. As Christians, we are taught to follow God and for most of us, we do what we need to do out of obligation and fear. Now that we are in the middle of a crisis, maybe some have returned back to God out of hopelessness. In other words, our love is mostly conditional. But you know what? The love of God is unconditional. And once you are able to grasp this truth you will have that desire to love Him back. Not because you have to, but because you want to.
This miracle is what we’re going to talk about today.
Our big message today: LOVE IS THE HEART OF GOD'S LAW

The message of Divine Mercy is a powerful and moving way to come closer to Christ.
Most Merciful Jesus, whose very nature it is to have compassion on us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins but upon our trust which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape from It. We beg this of You by Your love which unites You to the Father and the Holy Spirit.
Merciful Father, we pray unto to you to heal those who are sick with the virus. May they regain their strength and health through quality medical care. Heal us from our fear, which prevents nations from working together and neighbors from helping one another. We pray for doctors, nurses, researchers and all medical professionals who seek to heal and help those affected and who put themselves at risk in the process. May they know your protection and peace. Lord God, be with the leaders of all nations. Give them the foresight to act with charity and true concern for the well-being of the people they are meant to serve. Give them the wisdom to invest in long-term solutions that will help prepare for or prevent future outbreaks. May they know your peace, as they work together to achieve it on earth. Whether we are home or abroad, surrounded by many people suffering from this illness or only a few, Jesus Christ, stay with us as we endure and mourn, persist and prepare. In place of our anxiety, give us your peace.
And lastly, we pray to heal us from our pride, which can make us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon all mankind and especially upon poor sinners, all enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion show us Your mercy, that we may praise the omnipotence of Your mercy forever and ever.

LENT DAY 11: Are you experiencing a very difficult situation in your life right now? Do you feel down? Lost? Broken? Take inspiration in this story today.

LENT DAY 10: What is a good leader?
1) A leader builds a relationship with his disciples.
2) A leader plants a dream in that person's heart.
3) A leader empowers that person to reach for his dream.
God is a good leader. Should this task be daunting for you, look at Him first and experience for yourself His leadership in your life that is near, believing, and empowering.

For 4 weeks, we talked about the Baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist, and today, we read how this amazing event ended: After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”(Matthew 3:16-17 NLT, emphasis mine).
This is the end of Matthew, chapter3. In chapter 4, Jesus is tempted by the devil in the desert. We’ll read about that next week.
But today, I want to introduce the devil to you.
Some of you may want to say, “No need to introduce him to me. I know him very well because my husband is the devil incarnate.”
But some of you would like to say, “Uh Bo, no thank you. Please don’t introduce him to me. I don’t want to get to know him.”
But you need to.
Because we’re at war.
And you need to know your enemy.
LENT DAY 9: Now we move forward in discovering who God is as a leader. As you learn about His guidance and ways, let this be your prayer: "Bestow on my heart the gift of submission and faith, Lord. Impart to me a humble love for the spiritual mentors You have provided for me."

LENT DAY 8: 1 John 4:16 says, "And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them."
God's love is in every fiber of your being because you are His beloved child. Let this love spring forth from your words and actions so that people, through you, may experience an extension of heaven here on earth.

LENT DAY 5: On the first week of Lent, we are learning about God as our Father. God is Emmanuel—which means He is with us.
Remember that in your darkness, God is with you. He will never leave or abandon you. When you're in pain, God embraces you and feels your pain. He weeps with you. Because He is your Father. He is Emmanuel. And today, silence all the chaos in your heart and remember that He is always with you.

In the past three weeks, we’ve been studying about John the Baptist. And we asked this difficult question: How can we call people to repentance? We said that if we want to be effective, we should call people to repentance from a place of (1) Mercy, (2) Authenticity, and (3) Practicality. And we now add the fourth “platform”: (4) Humility. (NOTE: In Talk 4, we use the word probinsyano for hill billy.)
We call people to repentance from a place of humility. We don’t invite people to repent in a condescending, “I’m better than you are,” but from “one beggar telling another beggar where to find bread.”
This explains the message of Talk 4: You’re Just the Front Act.
John himself said he was not greater nor better than Jesus. He was just introducing Jesus as the true Messiah. In modern theatre language, John was just the front act. The major performer was Jesus.
In the same manner, we who have embraced the mission to make disciples for Jesus are just the front act, too.

DAY 4: God is "Abba" which means father. God is our Father, and He wants to have a personal relationship with us. As His children, let's put our full dependence on Him.

DAY 3: All of us grew up with different images of fathers. Some fathers are physically present at home, but they don't engage with their kids. Some grew up knowing their father as an important man doing very important things, but as he grew older, he realized he wasn't among the important things his father was busy about. And the list goes on.
God is your Father and let this be your sole reference of how a father should be. Today, may you be reminded that while people and earthly relationships fail, our Father in heaven never will.

Our spiritual life also has two main parts—religious behavior and relational behavior.
Fruits all about how we relate to the people around us.
Here’s the simple equation:
• Leaves = Religious Behavior
• Fruits = Relational Behavior
Message: God is looking for fruits-- not leaves.
To bear fruit, you need leaves. But all the leaves in the world cannot bear fruits without the most important ingredient. The leaves catch the energy of the sun and transform it into food for the fruits.
In the same way, all your religious behavior and human effort cannot produce the right relational behavior without the source of all Power—God Himself. Because you cannot give what you don’t have. You need to receive love to give love.
So here’s the complete equation:
• Leaves = Religious Behavior
• Fruits = Relational Behavior
• Sun = God Himself
John the Baptist’s entire ministry consisted of two actions: 1) he called people to repentance, and 2) he pointed people to Jesus.
Because repentance can only be fulfilled if you follow Jesus.
Because only Jesus is our Sun.
Only Jesus is the source of our power.
Move towards Him.
Prayer: Jesus, I thank You that You have given me all that I need to act out my faith. By your supernatural Power at work in my life, I choose to act, to move. In Jesus' name. Amen.
The Gospel of Matthew
Dawn of an Era
WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT:
Today, we start a new series within the Gospel Matthew, titledDawn of An Era. We’re now leaving behind the Christmas story and are now diving into Jesus’ public ministry. Yes, that’s a 30-year jump, and obviously, you must be asking, “Gee, what did Jesus do during those 30 years?”
Talk 1: Tough and Gentle
Talk I, Tough and Gentle, introduces us to the man called John the Baptist.
The simple but powerful message of Talk 1 is Receive His Mercy.
John’s message isn’t very popular today.
He said, “Repent of your sins and turn to God...” (v.2)
People don’t like hearing calls of repentance.
Talk 1 point out why most people don’t like calls to repentance.
Most people imagine John the Baptist to be an angry, hairy, scary guy. Talk 1 presents John the Baptist as tough and gentle as Jesus.
When Jesus called the proud to repent, He was tough, but when He called everyone else to repent, He was gentle.
Father, I live, breathe, and exist in, through, and by Your Mercy. Without Your Mercy, I die. So today, I open the doors of my heart very wide to receive an overflow of Healing Mercy. So that those around me who are thirsty for Your Mercy can drink deeply from the fountain of your Love, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
This is Talk 7, the last Talk of our series, Birth of The King. (Tell your friends that at the Feast, we celebrated Christmas until end of January. 😀)
Today, I’d like to preach on the message, “God sees your greatness.”
Let’s open the Word and find out how God defines a great person:
But when Joseph heard that Archelaus had succeeded his father Herod as king of Judea, he was afraid to go there. He was given more instructions in a dream, so he went to the province of Galilee 23 and made his home in a town named Nazareth. And so what the prophets had said came true: “He will be called a Nazarene.” (Matthew 2:22-23 NLT)
When God looks at you, He doesn’t see your external weaknesses.
He doesn’t focus your sins.
He only sees who you are deep inside you.
He sees your core value.
God sees your greatness.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for seeing goodness, and kindness, and holiness in me. Give me Your eyes, for on my own, I cannot see what You see. Free me from seeing only the present, help me to see my glorious future, in Jesus's name.
Today, I’d like to preach on the message, “Walk out of your Prison.”
Before we read today’s Bible story, I need to give you a little backgrounder for those who missed last week. Joseph and Mary, carrying baby Jesus, had to escape Bethlehem, travel some 65+ kilometers away, to hide in a foreign country because the insecure, cruel, paranoid King Herod wanted to plant a spear through the chest of baby Jesus. And the Holy Family became refugees for 3 years.
Here’s what happened next: When Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt. 20 “Get up!” the angel said. “Take the child and his mother back to the land of Israel, because those who were trying to kill the child are dead.” So Joseph got up and returned to the land of Israel with Jesus and his mother. 22 But when he learned that the new ruler of Judea was Herod’s son Archelaus, he was afraid to go there. (Matthew 2:19-21 NLT)
Prayer: Father, I declare that You are my Liberator. You are setting me free. You are opening prison doors and breaking the chains that prevent me from living the life You want me to live for You. I receive Your gift of freedom, in Jesus's name, Amen.
Yes, life is unfair. Accept it. Don’t deny it. Don’t live in Lalaland.
Because even if your life is unfair, your problems will not have the last say. God will have the last say….
In due time, you will be rewarded.
In due time, evil will be punished.
In due time, you will receive your vindication.
In due time, God will have the last say, and it will be good.
I believe that every morning, God gives you an opportunity to press the reset button of your life. Especially now as we start a new year. And a new decade!
Let go of the past. Start anew!
You may have lost some battles in 2019, but that’s only from a short-term context. God never thinks in that way, and if we want to follow Him, we must learn how He thinks. God always thinks long-term.
And from the long-term context, you already won.
This 2020, will you be the good guy or will you be the bad guy? Warning: In the short term, bad guys win. But it will be short-lived. At the end of the day, good guys win. You already won.
In past talks, we shared about how Adam was called to be God’s Image-Bearer, His Representative, and thus, Channel of Abundance.
Alas, he bungled it. Instead of trusting in God’s Love, he took matters into his own hands and defined what was good and evil apart from God.
But here’s the good news: God never gives up on us. (Have you noticed this in your life? I thank God that I’m not God, or I would have given up on me years ago! Shucks, I wouldn’t have created me.)
Throughout the storyline of the Bible, despite repeated and massive screw-ups, you’ll see how God kept calling us to go back to our role as His Representatives on Planet Earth.
Practices Abundant Giving And Abundant Earning
God is raising up a generation of generous people who earn a lot so they can give a lot.
I want to invite you to think in abundance, to earn in abundance, and to give in abundance too. Earn as much as you can so you can give as much as you can.
Because the purpose of wealth is to love others.
In Talk 1, titled Head, we learned about negative messages we entertain in our head which make us blind to the truth that our God is a God of Abundance.
Talk 2 is titled House because aside from presenting God as a God of Abundance, the talk also presents a House: God’s House— which is a House of Abundance. And you live in God’s House. And since you live in God’s House, the message of Talk 2 isYou already have what you need.
Talk 3 is titled Hands because the key message is “God will prosper the work of your hands.”
I don't know who you are, I don't know how old you are.
But I know the lie you hear, that you're too young, that you're too old;
You don't know enough or you know too much.
But here's the truth, that courage you have in your heart doesn’t have an expiration date.
Courage doesn’t have a marker that says, “You must be taller than THIS to ride this ride.”
But for you to see yourself the way God sees you is the first step in being brave.
Be BRAVE for yourself, be BRAVE for your God and be BRAVE for the onlookers, the ones who will be inspired by you to inspire others.
God one's you to be BRAVE because HE did not create you to have a wimpy life.
In Talk 1, titled Head, we learned about negative messages we entertain in our head which make us blind to the truth that our God is a God of Abundance.
Talk 2 is titled House because aside from presenting God as a God of Abundance, the talk also presents a House: God’s House— which is a House of Abundance. And you live in God’s House.
And since you live in God’s House, the message of Talk 2 isYou already have what you need.
THE FOUR ANTIDOTES OF WORRYING:
1. Stop Worrying, Start Worshipping
Jesus says, But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. (v. 31)
Instead of pouring your energy, time, and attention to worry, pour your energy, time, and attention to seeking God first—and He’ll provide.
Because the antidote to worry is to worship the God of Abundance. this universe.
2. Stop Worrying, Start Working
Jesus wasn’t against work, he was against worry.
But how do you work?
3. Stop Worrying, Start Waiting
If you have an Abundance mindset, you can work hard and wait long. Grow organically, not artificially. If you believe that God is a generous God, why hurry? Pace yourself. Work in a relaxed state. Because you already have what you need.
4.Stop Worrying, Start Welcoming
If you have an Abundance mindset, if you believe in a Generous God that has opened His House of Abundance to you, you don’t need to claw and grab and steal. There is enough for everyone
Our talk series, titled HUSTLE: How To Live in God’s Abundant Universe defines what is real abundance.
The word “hustle” used to have a negative meaning: “conman” or “scammer”. For younger people, “hustle” has taken on a positive meaning: grit and perseverance. This series defines hustle as action— in having abundant financial resources as well as the real source of abundant life.
After this Series: You will choose to live a really abundant life.
Talk 1 is titled Head because it deals with one of our biggest blocks to abundance: our “Head”.
We have a wrong understanding of abundance. In our minds, we entertain hidden messages that blind us so we do not see the abundance God has intended for us.
The key message of Talk 1 is God wants you to have Abundance.

What a thrilling journey it has been!
Today, I’d like to preach on the message, “You’re pregnant.”
I know some of us—I included—look pregnant in varying degrees, some in the first trimester, or in the second trimester, and others, they’re already having labor pains; But that’s not what I mean when I say, “You’re pregnant”.
In the 4thcentury, in the Council of Ephesus, they called Mother Mary Theotokos. Theotokos means God-Carrier. (Literally, it means “One who gives birth to God.”)
But to a lesser degree, aren’t we all God-Carriers? Because St. Paul said, And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. (Colossians 1:27 NLT)
Here’s my real one big message to you: “You’re a God-Carrier”.
THIS is the third installment of our grace-packed series, THE WAY OF SAINTS: How To Be God’s Representatives On Planet Earth.
Today, I’d like to preach on the simple message, God will fill you with better things.
In Talk 1, we explored the Greek word Hagios, which means “set-apart for God”. In Talk 2, we explored the Hebrew word Tselem, which means the image or statue of God. Today, in Talk 3, we explore another Greek word… Kenonsis which means Selflessness.

Big Message: Your Beliefs impacts Your Behaviour
When we are restless, it’s time to surrender everything to God. We need to take time to reflect, to step back, to take a deep breath and tell God in an honest prayer that we are tired. God didn’t design us to have superpowers so that we can do everything all at once. Let God take control and remove all your fears – fear of not being enough, fear of failure, or any other fear that creeps in whenever we are restless. Allow His love to overshadow you and be open to His embrace, for in Him we will find true rest.
The presence of thankfulness in trying times that enables us to conclude that gratitude is not simply a form of positive-thinking or technique of happy-ology but rather a deep abiding recognition and acknowledgement that goodness exists under even under the worst that life offers. But there are no long-term quick fixes for increasing your happiness. You need to be patient and practice grateful thinking every single day for it to work... and it's not a remedy for everything.
Sometimes, it might feel like you’re fighting against the negative. Do your best. Gratitude is not a cure-all for negativity. Frustration still happens. Anger, disappointment, sadness, and stress happen, but they can coexist with the knowledge, deep down, that beauty is the light in the soul. Gratitude doesn't erase painful emotions, but it does loosen their grip on your life.
Take Time To Care For Yourself
In some parts of a previous life, I used to think this was blasphemous. “How dare I should think of myself?” I reasoned, “On the contrary, I should forget myself and focus on others and God!” But Jesus took time to care for himself, escaping to the sea or a mountain, away from the rush of crowds. He also went home to friends (Mary, Martha, and Lazarus) in Bethany.
You have a “love tank” from where you scoop up and dispense love to others. If you keep on giving love to others, our love tanks will soon be empty—so we need to replenish that tank. In fact, when the hemorrhaging woman touched Jesus and got healed, Jesus said, “power had gone out of me.” That was why he retreated into the arms of his Father and recharged and refilled his love tank.
Today, we end our series in Burn.Open your heart to God. He will speak to you, heal you, and empower you.
May your dreams come true
If you’re struggling with burn out, anxiety, or depression. You are not alone. And whatever you feel right now, it's okay. Feel that feeling but follow your faith. Pray it to God, give it away to God,. Surrender it. Run to Him in prayer. Don't let your feelings dominate your life, Don't let your worry rule over you. Take all your worries, fears, and struggles to God and lay them at His feet.
Pray to the Lord:
Heavenly Father, thank you for your love and mercy. thank you for the gift of awareness, thank you for the gift of family and friends. Father God, I don’t understand why you’re allowing me to go through these challenging circumstances. I don’t know why you’ve allowed me to be pressed on every side and overwhelmed by the waves of life. But what I do know is that you are good and loving and faithful. I know that nothing can get to me without first going through you. And I know that you are working all things together for my good and your glory. I lay all my worries and struggles at your feet Lord as a gift of living sacrifice Lord. Help me to trust you more and worry less I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
As the one who has been struggling with depression, I know just how important prayer and worship is. I know, it is hard to pray when you’re consumed with negative thoughts and often this is very last thing you want to do especially that you become emotional. But in fact, praying is the most important thing a person can do in the midst of struggle.
When you are struggling or whatever you are going through, all you need is to pray. Feel your feelings. It's okay. If you feel hopeless, seek to god because God is hope. So if you’re feeling overwhelmed and burdened with the things of this world or the situations you’re in, pray.
When hard times come, and you reach that point of seemingly no return, cry out to your Savior through prayer. Verbally and fervently pour out your heart to your Jesus. He knows you, He cares for you, He’ll comfort you, and He’ll answer you.
Choose to keep praying, keep seeking, and keep knocking because God will answer! He will open doors, He will heal, He will intervene and He will give you a breakthrough!
Father, there are times when I feel frustrated and depression starts creeping in. Give me peace and strength Lord, to press on and not complain. Grant me wisdom needed to understand at all times that every disappointment is a blessing in disguise. Lord teach us how to worship You in the midst of our pain. Help us to understand that when these test and trials comes, it’s a testing of our faith and it’s only to make us stronger. I lift up my heart and voice in prayer to you.

Burn In
No Wonder There’s So Much Pain
St. Augustine said our deepest thirst is for God. Nothing else will satisfy. But sadly, we spiritualistic thirst.We get the signals all wrong. When our souls are longing for God, we think we just need a new phone. Or a new boyfriend. Or more likes on Facebook. Or more success in our career. Or more pleasure. Or more distractions.
Can I scream these three words into your ear?
They won’t work!
Can I whisper another three words?
You… need… God.
Because you were made to be God’s forever.
And this is the first root cause of burnout: We expect from stuff what only God can provide.That’s why everywhere you look, there’s an insane amount of pain in people’s lives. So much frustration. So much anguish. So much burnout.
Because we’re not meeting our real thirst.
This was the invitation of Jesus to the rich young man. If I were to paraphrase Jesus, He was telling the guy, “Your hierarchy of values is all wrong. Wealth is on top, but you can’t find what you lack in wealth. Instead, come, follow me. Satisfy your real thirst.”
(Testimony of how you—or someone else—tried to satisfy your lack by things, people, etc., which all proved futile, until you turned to God…)
Remember, you were designed to be God’s forever.
That’s your DNA.
That’s your purpose.
Be His forever.
Our talk series, STAGES: Finding God Where You Are, is about the various phases of life and how one may know and feel the Presence of God in each of those stages.
The first episode we talked about the first stage: Explore. and it is all about the first 20 years of your life, and its purpose is to explore, to discover who you are—specifically, your calling, your values, and your identity. The key message is God is right here, right now.
Now, we are now on our Second Stage:The next 20 years—from 20 to 40 years old—and its purpose is to expand your life. In this stage, you develop your calling, your craft, and as always, your character. You also enter into new territories.
But here’s a warning: When you expand, you’ll meet push back. You’ll face resistance. The key message: “God fights your battles.”
Lesson: Let God do the fighting for you. If it’s a battle that you should fight, remember that God fights your battles BESIDE you. If it’s a battle that you should avoid, stand and watch because God fights your battles FOR you. But in both scenarios, remember: God fights your battles. And you shall have the victory

Set Up Yourself For Change
That’s the key: Set up yourself for change. Set up your world so that it’s difficult not to change.
Your set-up means how you pre-arrange your environment.
I highlight two things in your environment…
1. People
Obviously, the first thing you pre-arrange are the people you hang-out with. Paul says,Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”(1 Corinthians 15:33 ESV).
2. Perspectives
Your environment also includes the stuff you read, watch, and listen, all of which impact your perspectives. Heed the Word when it says, “But test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.”(1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 ESV). Here’s the first question: Are there books, programs, and photos that are evil?
Pre-Design Your Environment
There’s a new buzz word I hear a lot today: Curate. I hear it everywhere. It’s become popular because people are overwhelmed with the endless choices given to them. So they want experts to curate their choices for them.Curate means to“organize a collection of items where each item is pre-designed, pre-selected, and pre-arranged to produce a specific experience”.
Friend, I believe God has given you the power to curate your kingdom. You have the power to curate your friendships, your schedule, your activities, your itinerary, your values—so that everything is a set-up for victory. Set up your world so that it will be difficult not to grow. Give your kingdom to the King.
If you want to get rid of bad habits, you need to get real. You need to stop your alibis, your excuses, your lies. You need to admit, “I’m totally helpless. I need help from God.”
Why did Jesus reenact the fall? To help Peter come face to face with his failure, get real, admit his sin, and be humble for God. To help Peter submit to God.
Let me circle back to our key passage: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7 ESV). To trust in God’s Leadership, you need humility. To have the capacity to receive His Love, you need humility. You keep changing, you need humility.
Every God-Follower Must Have
Open yourself more to His power.
How? Create these 4 essential habits into your life:
1. The Habit of Prayer
Spend daily time with the Center of your Life, if He’s really the Center. Commune with Him. Let Him fill you with His love.
People think I pray 3 hours a day. Not true. (They also think I levitate and chat with Moses and Elijah every 3am.) I pray a few minutes every morning, and at different times during the day, I keep connecting with God.
2. The Habit of Meditating The Word
Chew on Scriptures. Many are spiritually malnourished. Because Jesus said, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4 NIV)
Use the Daily Mass Readings. (Use Companion or Didache or Gabay to guide you on what to read.)
3. The Habit of Serving The Church
Make the Feast your priority in your weekly schedule. And join a Light Group or a Feast Light or ministry. Journey with fellow God-Followers. The Bible says, Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more, since you see that the Day of the Lord is coming nearer. (Hebrews 10:25 GNT)
4. The Habit of Sharing God’s Love
Wake up each morning and become God’s Love in this world. When people experience you, let them experience Jesus. Care. Give. Serve. And tell people about Him.
- Because for God to use you as a leader in your country, or company, or ministry, or family, you need to change your heart. You need to turn over your selfish heart and get a new selfless heart from God.
- There is a desperate need for selfless leaders in government, businesses, churches, and families. Here again is the thesis statement of our entire series: The only long-term solution for changing our nation is changing our hearts—one heart at a time.
Choose a Leader because it points out how to discern what kind of leader a country really needs. What we need is a leader who is moved to sacrifice his own needs for the country. The big question is: How do you transform selfish persons into selfless leaders? The only solution is a change of heart.
