Driving dogs, Czech nudists, role playing sex cards - these are just a few of the things that co-hosts Anne and Crissy find outrageous. Each episode brings stories from around the world of life's oddities and eccentricities which the ladies then dissect. And as a special bonus, each episode features a segment inspired by the patron saint of this podcast, the outrageously under-rated Patrick Muldoon. It's a mixed bag to be sure but by the end, you'll be feeling nothing if not outraged, in a good way.
Coming off of last week's episode regarding "Along Came Polly", the podcast was inundated with messages regarding the man who is rumored to have inspired Philip Seymour Hoffman's character, Sandy Lyle in the film. So this week, we bring to you an exclusive interview with Steve, college housemate of the film's director, John Hamburg; past performer of Judas in a community theater production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" and former habitue of the NYC pick-up basketball scene. Take a listen to Steve's story and draw your own conclusion as to whether or not this tie is real or imagined.
Plus, Anne reveals something about her past that even Crissy never knew. It's a week of reminiscing and revelations!

This week will once again have you shaking your head at what goes on in this world. We start with the story of a man who broke into a convenience store but left something intentionally behind. Plus, we had the story of a new bill being proposed to lessen prisoners' sentences in exchange for what??? And the culprit in a string of animal kidnappings from a Dallas zoo has finally been found.
And after much debate, we chose the final "Sweetheart" of our "America's Sweetheart" month - Jennifer Aniston. We discuss her comedy with Ben Stiller, "Along Came Polly". Do you know which of Jen's co-stars was the only man she did more than one film with? (up until she just reunited with Adam Sandler in "Murder Mystery 2" - which is on Netflix so not sure that even counts)

Though this week we talk about the most "America's Sweetheart" of all the Sweethearts, Julia Roberts, one news story really stole the show. Anne was so outraged by this story that she nearly hyperventilated. It has to do with a wedding, the best man and his wife and that's all you'll get out of this description. The second story this week has to do with a woman who rebuffed a man's romantic overtures, agreed to go to therapy with him for 2 years (!) to discuss why she only saw him as a friend and after all that, he sued her. Think about it - that was the second most outrageous story this week. I mean the first one is a real doozie!
Plus, we discuss "Notting Hill," the romantic comedy that paired Julia with Hugh Grant. Not sure the movie held up over time but it did bring up an interesting thought - does it matter if Julia has chemistry with any of her leading men? Are they just appendages to her star power? See what we have to say about it.
According to "Horse and Hound" magazine ("Notting Hill" reference), this podcast gets 5 stars. So rate and review!

Is there anyone alive who doesn't like Sandra Bullock? This week we take a look back at her rom-com history with a focus on the one that arguably put her on the America's Sweetheart map, "While You Were Sleeping". Is everything about this movie unrealistic - from the basic premise to fact that Bill Pullman gets the girl? Yes. Do we still love it? Yes, yes we do. And see if you agree that "The Proposal", another Bullock classic, basically took the plot of this film, changed a few things and no one seemed to notice ( could have been called "While You Were Sleeping We Stole the Plot of This Film".)
Plus, we have not one but two stories about pigeons (one a victim of a Michael Bay film, the other, a drug mule or in this case, drug pigeon). And we talk about the man who spent thousands of dollars to have a very realistic wolf suit made so he could escape human relationships. You can't make this up.

For one month (the shortest one at that), Anne is allowing Crissy to pick the films. So get ready for a month of America's Sweethearts in their most notable rom-coms. First up is perhaps the Grand Poobah of them all, Meg Ryan and her classic, "When Harry Met Sally". If the film were titled, "When Anne Met Harry", it would have been a short as she feels nothing but irritation for him. But we discuss Meg's best leading men, if men and women can in fact be friends and also one of her lesser known films, "Joe vs the Volcano". It's jam packed.
Plus we cover all the news you may have missed this week such as the Florida burglars who called the police on themselves, a man given quite the value meal at a drive thru McDonalds and Mississippi toddler who ate the family pet (none of the blame goes to the toddler).

This week we have outrage a-plenty and in this case, it's aimed at our guest! Our very wonderful friend, Sydney suggested we watch "Fun with Dick and Jane," the 2005 Jim Carrey/Tea Leoni film. So naturally we invited her on the podcast to talk about it. Well, none of us could have predicted the outrage that Anne decided to launch in Sydney's direction for the audacity of suggesting the film. It's something.
Plus, patients of a medical practice receive a very traumatic holiday message...by mistake! A plane headed to Sydney winds up in Samoa (find out what happened next) and a woman on a New Delhi flight gets a very warm surprise - not a good one.

Unless you've been living under a pop culture rock, you have no doubt seen or heard about the surprise box office hit, "M3gan". You know, the one with the doll with the killer dance moves and the killer instinct? This week we are beyond thrilled to have one of the stars of the film, Jen Van Epps on the podcast! Jen fills us in on this little movie that could - surpassing all box office expectations to be only second to "Avatar" several weeks running. We find out the inside scoop on the filming, the technology and people that brought M3gan to life and how moving to New Zealand changed the course of Jen's acting career for good. Jen is a sheer delight, the movie is highly entertaining and this episode is one not to be missed!

Two weeks in a row and "That's Outrageous" is reviewing another good movie - though as Anne says, all the movies we review are good to somebody. The object of our adoration is arguably a classic, "Moonstruck". Famous lines from this movie come fast and furious and it would be hard to find anything not to like (Anne does find exactly one thing though - and you'll never guess what it is).
Plus, we talk about the miraculous survival story of a couple who's car went off a California road and plummeted 300 feet, the story of a crazed Argentinian fan who hijacked a bus to see his country play a World Cup match and the young Nigerian immigrant who is making big moves in the chess world.
We are definitely on a roll to start the year and I hope we don't "snap out of it!"

Here we are in 2023 and the world does not disappoint to bring us more outrageous stories to ring in the New Year! This week we cover the story of a Florida man who decided to shoplift at a Walmart at a very bad time, a dog at a Walmart (this one in Texas), who decided to go for a ride and a British man and an American woman who decided to become pen pals over 80 years ago. Their feelings about the massive endeavor will definitely surprise you.
Plus, we re-watched the film, "Clueless" with Alicia Silverstone in her signature role. There is a lot that endures about this movie that's classic and a lot that rates pretty high on the cringe scale. As if! But we're willing to bet that as sure as Cher changes her outfits 62 times, you'll find this one charming.

Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah! This week we are bringing good tidings and cheer (very unusual for us). We start with Anne's list of the 12 Muldoon movies that should be on your list this season (it's not without controversy). Then we discuss the baker in the UK who's doing his part to help bring joy to his community, a dog named Van Gogh who's living up to his name and a Grinch who's not where he's supposed to be.
And we finish our Christmas movie marathon with Queen Latifah in "Last Holiday". This 2006 film definitely flew under the radar but could not be more delightful. As Anne would say, "It's got Latifah, LL Cool J, Gerard Depardieu - what more could you want?" Good question.

Each year, people clamor for Anne's "12 Days of Muldoon" list. In honor of that list (coming soon to our IG page), we have reviewed a Muldoon/Denise Richards TV movie, "A Christmas Reunion". The plot may sound familiar: big city gal returns home to revive the bakery her beloved aunt left to her though she has no baking skills and her aunt didn't bother to give her any notice that she was dying. Add to that, one Patrick Muldoon, her ex-boyfriend who (spoiler alert) was left as co-owner of the aforementioned bakery and flour will fly. You've got to hand it to these Muldoon movies, there is no shortage of things to talk about - and we do.
Plus, we talk about the monastery left without any monks for a very surprising reason. The woman who faked labor to force a plane to land. And that KPop star you love - is she/he human or riding the AI wave? We'll break it all down.

And...turn on the TV anytime this month and you're bound to stumble upon a viewing of the classic film, "A Christmas Story." Now it's sequel is out on HBO Max and the ladies decided to take in a double feature of the original and this new edition, "A Christmas Story Christmas." It's a tragedy that Pat left this world without knowing the mystifying crush that a young girl in Delaware was harboring for him. Was Pat Morita in "Teen Witch"? No, but Anne can't help but bring him up as well as another older man, the dearly departed, Alan Thicke. The Morita/Thicke rivalry would have been one for the ages but alas we'll just have to wonder who would have won the battle for Anne's heart.
Plus, a woman's weapon of choice is a swarm of bees, a man pees on his ex-wife grave every day, and a bear gets blamed for a crime he didn't commit. And how much alcohol is too much? Only your Uber Eats driver can tell.

We are days away from Halloween and so it was only fitting to have our resident horror film expert, Jack back on the podcast. Jack chose "Rosemary's Baby" which has been described as the "perfect horror film" to watch this week. This was repeat viewing for Jack and Anne - first time around for Crissy. It is the 40th Anniversary of the Steven Spielberg* classic, "Poltergeist". Why the asterisk? Because Spielberg is credited with writing and producing the film but not directing it. That is just one of the controversies that swirl around this movie - along with the tragic deaths of two of it's young stars and the use of real skeletons in one of its pivotal scenes.
To break it all down, we were joined by FOP, Tanya Jones, life coach and producer extraordinaire. Tanya brought her own bit of trivia to the discussion with this question: which global pop star's step father is one of the featured actors in this film? She stumped both Anne and Crissy. And with all sorts of movies and documentaries about Jeffrey Dahmer having a moment, we decided to also talk to Marc about his film, "My Friend Dahmer" which is the only film that can claim to have actually shot in Jeffrey Dahmer's childhood home. That is spooky in and of itself.

This month fear is front and center as we begin our 2nd annual horror movie fest! As everyone well knows, Anne likes to zig where others zag so this week we are taking a look at the films, "Slumber Party Massacre" and "Slumber Party Massacre 2" (there is a "Slumber Party Massacre 3" for those with who are into self flagellation but we didn't go there). These Roger Corman produced slashers feature a drill bit happy killer and his very dumb high school victims. We'd say keep your eyes covered but these movies telegraph what's about to happen from a mile away - it's pure camp at its low-budget finest.
Plus, we discuss the Florida man who tried to escape a hurricane via jet ski, the nursing home who might have gone too far to entertain its residents and CatCon! What is CatCon you might be wondering? Well we did too and were surprised to find an A-list actor at the center of it.
Next week we will have director Marc Meyers back on the podcast to discuss his horror film, "We Summon the Darkness". You will not want to miss that - but listen to this one first. It's scary good!

When you think of what to marinate your chicken in, do you reach for the medicine cabinet to pull out some Nyquil when perhaps a simple soy could do the trick? Because that's what "the kids" are doing all across America.
And when you think of how to wind down after a college football game, do you bite the end of the nearest nose to you? Because that's where the COO of Beyond Meat went - way beyond.

It took over 2 years but Anne and Crissy can finally claim to be "influencers". It's really remarkable and you'll just have to take a listen to find out how this came about.
Plus, would you give up your plane seat so a family could sit together? Have you ever gotten an email from a bunch of spinach? And would you ever guess that all a chimpanzee needs is a hug and a raincoat to make him happy? Or that a story about said chimpanzee would lead Anne to make a connection to the non-stop coverage of the Queen's funeral and thus send her into a rage? I believe the term "box of bones" was bandied about.
And no week would be complete without a discussion of an outrageously forgotten or forgettable film. I think this week we hit the mark on both counts with the 1985 film, "Just One of the Guys." Loosely based on Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," this high school comedy has Billy Zabka (of course) in his requisite role of bad guy opposite a James Brown loving outsider - guess who gets the girl...and the dance lessons?

Remember in 2005 when pictures were published of Brad Pitt on an African beach with Angelina Jolie while he was still married to Jennifer Aniston? You'll never guess who tipped off the paparazzi to get that shot. And how you would feel if you fiancé proposed with the ring of his former fiancé? And would you have the keys to your car surgically implanted into your hand? These are the burning questions we answer before things really heat up with our movie of the week, "The Chaos Experiment" (also known as, "The Steam Experiment" depending on where you view it - the sure sign of a quality film.)
At "That's Outrageous" we have been neglecting the film canon of our patron saint, Patrick Muldoon for far too long. So when Anne stumbled upon this 2009 film, only available on Amazon, she not only had to see it, she had to buy 2 of the last 5 copies (act fast to get one of those precious remaining 3). Along with Muldoon, the cast includes Kilmer, Roberts (as in Eric, not Julia) and Armand Assante. There's much to discuss about this film that features a mentally disturbed doomsday believer (or is he a scientist?) who throws 6 sexy singles into a steam room to prove that the world is on an irreversible course with annihilation via climate change. I mean, what more could you want from 90 mins?
If Kilmer is right and the end of the world is near, you'll want to hear this episode before it's too late!

Something's rotten in Hollywood - and this time it's reports of an A-listers stinky behavior on set. Any guesses as to who? Plus, a young woman endures calls from the internet to amputate her deformed, but functioning arm, LA has a new bridge and a whole new set of problems and we watched the 1980 film, "The Blue Lagoon". Neither Anne nor Crissy had seen this film starring a 14 year old Brooke Shields. It has now joined our growing list of childhood films that didn't seem problematic in the 80s but are fairly horrifying to the 21st century eyes. Kudos though to young Brooke for her sewing skills - that gal somehow managed to create several island looks from just the clothes on her shipwrecked back.

Most podcasts would be counting down until they reached their 100th episode...but not those of us at "That's Outrageous". This milestone crept right up on us. You might not believe it all but you can't help but go along for the ride - which is exactly what we did this week.

Yes, you read that right. And we discuss the viral video of an overzealous Disneyland park employee ruining a young couple's engagement for reasons that have never been made clear. Plus, the Aero 360 amusement park ride did anything but amuse its passengers on one recent trip.

"Top Gun: Maverick" just had the biggest Memorial Day opening weekend ever (and you better believe Anne was amongst those coughing up her $16 to see it. Money well spent, judging by her reaction). "What Lies Beneath" is a thriller featuring Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford that keeps you on the edge of your seat - before going off the rails. Crissy and Anne agree about a lot on this one - including Harrison Ford's abs - but definitely not the ending.
Plus the saying, "heads will roll" takes on a whole new meaning in a story about a stolen truck carrying boxes of human heads. We did not make this up. And we round it out with a reporter covering a hit and run, while a different hit and run was unfolding behind him.

This week there are not one but two podcast must-sees! First you need to see the Israeli experiment whereby a fish (in it's tank) navigates across a room to reach some food. Truly something out of a Dr. Seuss book.
And then you need to do yourself a favor and re-watch or watch for the first time, "Night Shift". This 1982 comedy starring Michael Keaton, Henry Winkler and Shelley Long is an oft-forgotten gem. The scene where Michael Keaton breaks down the meaning of the word "prostitution" is worth the price of admission. Which for now is like 3 bucks on YouTube - c'mon that's a no-brainer.
And the people of Paris are dancing in the streets that the 20 year battle to deregulate French dressing has finally been won. Actually the people of Paris probably are completely clueless about this but you heard it here first. And some cats have taken a Vitamix box hostage and they are not negotiating.

Based on this week's stories, we can safely say, the world is starting to lose it. First of all, in a story that makes the peacock support animal look strictly minor league, we cover the story of a woman who tried to breast feed her cat on an airplane. Winter has not yet officially started and yet folks around the world are finding themselves snowed in. Take the 60 people who went to see an "Oasis" cover band in England on a Friday and didn't leave until Monday. Or the shoppers in Denmark who involuntarily slept inside an IKEA. Spoiler alert: none seemed to mind and many seemed to enjoy the whole experience. We also cover the Italian dentist who fit himself with a prosthetic arm to get a vaccine and the woman who sued for being born...and won.
Plus we discuss the holiday film, "The Family Man". This sliding doors story tugged at both Anne and Crissy's heartstrings (and that doesn't happen often). And it is 1000 times better than the film they almost went with, Henry Winkler's "An American Christmas Carol". Henry Winkler is a national treasure, this production is decidedly not. This week Anne and Crissy came up with their list of "Top 10 Movies to be Thankful For". Not to be confused with favorite movies, this is a list of movies that they will stop what they are doing to sit down and watch. And what a delightful list it is - both Anne and Crissy were inspired by each other's lists to check out some of the movies mentioned this weekend. And since recording, they have been adding to their lists ("Analyze This", "Finding Nemo", "The Other Guys", "Look Who's Talking", "Casablanca" - it keeps on going). This is one that will stick with you!
Also, they discuss the Elf on the Shelf phenomenon, a Brinks truck that literally scattered cash all over a California highway, and the big discovery that a Guinness Book of World Records Day exists! This Guinness story is like an onion - we've only just begun to peel back the layers.

This Guinness Book of World Records thing is really catching on. This week we comment on a magazine's list of the most ridiculous records in the book. See if you think they top the list or if you've heard worse. Plus, a man leaves for a night out on the town and winds up in a search party for himself (this is a good one!)
And do you know which movie was the debut for Andrew McCarthy, John Cusack and Virginia Madsen? If you said the 1983 film, "Class" you would be right and you would have also read the header to this description. So congratulations on both counts. This week we watched the NBC movie, "Deadly Pursuits" starring Mr. Muldoon and a very young Tori Spelling. Nothing's getting past these two as they attempted to solve the mystery of who killed Patrick's mother and sister. It's classic Muldoon in every way. And are those real sparks we see between Muldoon and Spelling??

If you want to treat yourself to 99 mins of a bitchin' to the max good time, then sit yourself down down for "Valley Girl". This 1983 classic had Anne and Crissy longing for days lost at the mall shopping for bad clothes and checking out rad dudes. (OK, Crissy was likely shopping for rainbow mobiles but Anne was doing the other stuff). Nicolas Cage in his first starring role is all charm and hair products. And almost 40 years on, Crissy was able to surprise Anne with some movie trivia she did not know (that is hard to do).
Plus, we talk about the winners of this year's Ig Nobel Prize (ignoble - get it?). Anne has big feelings about this one. And find out why a marathon winner wound up a loser and what a fearless cat is doing at a Miami football stadium.

There was a lot to talk about this week. It seems the world has gone Guinness Book crazy as there were no fewer than 3 (that we know of) records made in the last 7 days. The big question is why? The bigger question is: how do we get in on it? Plus, a woman used a fake vaccine card to get into Hawaii, James Corden is annoying everybody and Barbie is getting a big makeover.
And then of course, there's this week's movie: the Bruce Willis/Jane March erotic thriller, "Color of Night." Not only does this movie fall into Anne's favorite film genre, but it also was given the award for "best sex scene ever" by Maxim magazine. Somehow this movie slipped by Crissy in 1994 but now she'll never forget it.

The Olympics kick off tomorrow (maybe) but we are kicking them off today with a look back at the 1986 film, "American Anthem". This forgotten gem starring former Olympian, Mitch Gaylord is an 80s delight from start to finish. Sure no one in it can act and the guy who looks like "Simply Red" is inexplicably emotive but if you want lots of synthesizer, lots of greased up bare chests and lots of overly dramatic confrontations that lead to more greased up bare chests, then you really need to sit down and revisit this movie. It is an hour and 40 mins of time well spent.
Plus we talk about the mac and cheese ice cream craze sweeping the nation, the spicy job where you can make some fast cash (sounds way more elicit than it is) and you've heard of snakes on a plane...how about under your bed?

Little did Anne know when she casually mentioned that she preferred "Grease 2" to the original, that Crissy would take it as a personal challenge. So in this episode, Crissy pleads the case (very convincingly) that "Grease" is the far superior film. Anne sticks with her greased up guns that the sequel is better. Will this film feud break up their friendship?
Plus we learn that octopuses are a belligerent bunch (we also learn the plural of octopus), we decide if we'd barter a teddy bear for a sausage roll and we confirm our worst fears about the perils of using an outhouse.

As if Texans did not have enough to worry about right now, they can add to their troubles that Chucky is on the loose. Yes, that Chucky, the one from "Child's Play". And somehow Chucky is not the only creepy doll making news this week. There's another one in the UK. And spinach can now send emails and a 15 year old Katherine Heigl is telling people that Gerard Depardieu is her lover, not her father. This is the story line from the 1994 film, "My Father the Hero" which is the tip of the issues iceberg with this movie. (Confession: it also has a few very funny scenes.)
Once again the world is in a crazy state and the ladies have opinions on all of it.

So much to talk about this week! But hands down my favorite story - perhaps out of any story we have done - is about a mom who has crafted a doll that looks like her son to cuddle. It's totally creepy but somehow I can relate.

This week we welcome fellow podcaster, David Ngo. David's podcast, "The Best Story I Never Told" has one guest come on per week and do just that, tell a story they have never told in public before. Our own Anne was on recently (check it out) and so we asked David to pick a movie of his choice to come on and discuss with us. David chose, "Just Friends" and wound up not only discussing the plot line but unexpectedly offered up a story/confession of his own that he's never told! It was like the Fonz going on Laverne & Shirley. Minds were blown all over Milwaukee.
Plus, in a nod to Valentine's Day, we discuss pink Mac & cheese and free divorce offers (there is a flip side to the holiday). AND we cover the story of a UK teen who has woken up from a coma to discover the world is in a pandemic. Anne and Crissy are writing up the movie version now - it will of course star Patrick Muldoon.

It's Christmas Eve and as you settle in with your family over the warmth of a zoom call, we here at "That's Outrageous" are celebrating with a very special guest, Aaron Augenblick. Aaron is the founder of animation house, Augenblick Studios which created and produced the Snap Original Series, "Death Hacks" as well as partaking in the upcoming Netflix's series, "Headspace" (Jan 1), among other projects. Aaron is also a huge fan of the 1980 movie, "Christmas Evil" and we were delighted when he agreed to come on the podcast to discuss it. Spoiler alert: the man is passionate about this film.
