Edward Poland sits down with Carina Bauer for 7 minutes of quick questions.
Carina entered the meetings industry in 2002 as the Marketing and Operations Director for IMEX in Frankfurt as part of the original launch team for the exhibition. Following the expansion of the IMEX brand into America in 2009, Carina was appointed CEO of the IMEX Group.
Throughout her career, Carina has been an active member of the meetings industry. She was Chair of the Marketing Committee for MPI’s European Meetings & Events Conference, London (2008), has served on the Board of the MPI UK Chapter, the MPI International Multicultural Committee and on PCMA’s Global and Advocacy Taskforces. She is currently President-Elect for the SITE International Foundation and a Director of the Meetings Industry Fund.

Interview with Alex Head

We spoke to Neil Soni about how you can use personalisation and bespoke elements to better tell your brand's story at an event.
clueQuest clueQuest is a company that runs escape rooms - fully immersive puzzle experiences designed to be solved by a team. The first escape room opened in Tokyo around seven years ago and today there are around 3,000 operating globally. We spoke to Alexis King about escape rooms as team building activities and what events can learn about audience engagement.
Draughts London Alongside immersive experiences like escape rooms, cities are seeing a rise in activity based venues with trendy spots like Flight Club, Bounce and Puttshack offer games like Darts, Ping pong and Mini-golf to create a more experiential way to socialise over places offering more traditional hospitality. Alongside these activities, board games are seeing a massive surge in popularity and dedicated board game cafes are opening up across the country. We spoke to Draughts, a board game Cafe in Hackney to find out whether the unique social experience of playing a board game is something that could be incorporated into events.

With Hire Space's Gender Equality Charter being put into place, and many events professionals discussing the matter, including Samme Allen and Helen Moon, we hope to see the industry make further positive steps on the issue.
This month marks 100 years since The Representation of the People Act received Royal Assent on February 6th 1918. This historic act gave women over 30 (who met certain property qualifications) the right to vote. The same act also extended the franchise to men of all classes over the age of 21.
