A Warhammer 40,000 podcast recorded in Glasgow, Scotland by two long time gamers and nerds - Dr David McMillan and George Quail. More casual and narrative in our play style, we talk about various factors of wargaming that interest us.
We have listener mail! We get to pretend people actually care about what we say!
This episode opens up with some comments from Twitter and email from @HellForgeProps, @HurricaneGirl73, @ShawnMLowrey, @StuartKinnaird2 and @CptCaaveman following on from last week's "How you started in the hobby" question. Then Twitter guides our next section as Dave has only discovered via @SkirmishGames the existence of the original 1st ed 40K supplement "Chapter Approved" - luckily George owns a battered copy and can explain a bit about what's inside.
This week's quiz follows with Dave guessing Warhammer prices - a succession of items with George asking what's higher or lower than the last item. Some are easier than others - you won't be surprised what's dearer out of the Forge World 40K Scale Titan or the Plastic Flying Stem & Base. Then we close out by talking not about a book or film that inspired Warhammer but a game, by addressing some shared DNA with D&D. (DNA with D&D would make a great documentary name, copyright George Quail and David McMillan)

Slightly later than intended but also slightly longer than intended so, um... that basically makes up for it, right?
Dave and George both share their hobby history, with how they first discovered Warhammer as kids in the 90s and how they returned to the world of Citadel Miniatures in their adult years. For those of you in the same age group as us you may hear some familiar words like "Space" and "Crusade".
This blast of nostalgia is followed by leaping to the modern day to discuss some of the 9th Edition 40K news, like the return of campaign experience rules and how long is acceptable to have between codex releases.
Topicality goes out the window after this when George sets another quiz, this time with a 2nd Edition Sisters of Battle theme. Finally, Dave suggests the Terminator film series and its impact on Warhammer 40,000 in visuals and in tone.

People actually listened to Transmission 1. I am as surprised as you are, but here we are doing some more rambling.
After a check in on our recent hobby project - and why Forge World might have stopped producing the kit George is trying to assemble - we address the topic of what inspires you to start a new army, which is something a few of you may be doing with 9th Edition launching. This discussion then meanders into some talk about starting wargames as a new player and the cost/time issues thereof.
There's a test of Dave's knowledge with a quiz about the very first Warhammer 40,000 rulebook ever, "Rogue Trader or Rouge Faker?", which you can play along with at home. Then we close out our show by talking about Judge Dredd, which has a well-known Warhammer connection as well as a less obvious one...

It's lockdown and we are two thirty-to-forty something middle class nerds. So naturally, we started a podcast to fill the empty void in our life!
With the recent buzz about Indomnitus and Warhammer 40,000 9th Edition we talk about new editions of games and the merits of big vs small edition changes; the appearance of "iterative units" that replace/improve on existing ones, like Primaris to Regular marines; and we close out on some chat about 60s classic novel Dune and it's impact on Warhammer.
