Android's Dungeon is a podcast about board gaming, video games, and often times other things started by Jack and Joel in 2016 in Guelph, Ontario.
Whether you're new to the hobby or a seasoned grognard, there's something for everyone here.
Jack sits down with Jenn Haines, the owner and entrepreneur behind Guelph, Ontario's preeminent comic book shop, The Dragon. They discuss the business, life during Corona, what sells, what doesn't, and the 25th anniversary of an iconic location.

Jack and Joel discuss Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom and Jack is astounded at how many times Joel has played the former. Hint: it's more than one! The boys also discuss Civilization and how they both failed to achieve their aims of taking over the world on the weekend.
There is also some talk about those lame Survivor games as well as a taste, a hint, an amuse-bouche if you will, of the System Shock 1 remake review. Look at you board gamer, a pathetic creature of glue and cardboard, panting and sweating as you carry your collection to game night.
Jack and Joel give the run down on CottageCon 2023: SPRING EDITION. Joel talks about the Bios series and how the madman, the absolute madman, played through Genesis, Megafauna, and Origins over a period of 24 hours. Then they discuss the meat and potatoes of the show, Eclipse 2nd edition. It is Joel's favourite game now and Jack is envious about is lame old first edition that has sat unplayed on the shelf for 6+ years.

In this riveting episode of Android's Dungeon, the boys get into it a bit about two scintillating games they've discussed 30 times already but this time we swear it's different and also, we've only talked about 1846 like twice, maybe three times so chill. We also have a rundown of the session 0-1 of Joel's Ghosts of Saltmarsh mining expedition homebrew. Lots of taffing.
The boys get into it a bit about twilight struggle. Jack doesn't really get this game but he appreciates it. He forces everyone to enjoy a track from Copenhagen Cowboy because it's so damn good and he can't stop listening to it. 1846 is a very interesting game that Jack does not understand but can possibly grok it with enough plays. We also talk about Splendour Duel, an unnamed abstract rock pushing game, and do a rapid review of Resident Evil 4: Remake at the ~1/2 mark of the game. Hint: it's awesome!
If you like to hear someone talk about a popular video game franchise, this is the episode for you. If you don't, you should listen anyway because you might learn something and stop being such a cynical prick all the time. Geez.

I'll be honest. There's a whole lot of nonsense at the start of this one. If you want to hear jibbajabba this is for you, otherwise stay clear bucko. If you do make it through we've got some good chat about 1882 and the nature of randomisation in board games. If you hear Jack groaning and making sad noises it's because DC Deckbuilder is his favourite game of all time and he regrets whenever it comes up because it makes him want to play it over and over and ov
Apparently Tanner has seen like every movie or something, it sounds like a gag and he's just saying yes to every attempt to stump, which frankly comes across as insecure and petty so consider this his first and last appearance. Apologies for wasting our audiences' time. Frosthaven also sounds incredible and I wish it had come out 7 years ago, another Tanner screw up.
A24 is responsible for some very good movies but their successes creates slight resentment and brings out the contrarian in me. Aronofsky is overrated.
Bloodborne is the best From game of all time or at least top 3. Joel finished it but didn't do everything so it doesn't count and he has forgotten the face of his father. 18Chesapeake: Off the Rails is the most fun Jack has had with 18xx in a long, long time and that's saying something because Jack loves 18xx and almost always has a great time playing it. Be prepared for bankruptcy. Also, Dune is very good but a disaster of rules and requires a group of people who can bend not break when it comes to absolute nonsense. Jack learns additional rules following the show.
Jack and Joel have a friendly discussion about a game they feel vaguely indifferent about but that Jack enjoyed more, Clash of Cultures. An argument breaks out over proper ammunition storage and whether assassinating a random stranger who's down on his luck just for the heck of it after playing a board game is ethical or not. The results may surprise you.
In order to make good chili it's important to first disguise purchased chili as your own, preferably under the moniker of steamed beans. Afterwards, understand the Iosefka is replaced reasonably quickly and holds the invite to Cainhurst as well as 1/3 of the umbilical cord necessary to fight the true final boss. 1882 is a very good game and anyone who says otherwise is a jaded train enthusiast that has lost sight of the true meaning of Christmas. And Curse of Strahd reinforces the X-Files motto of trusting everyone and obeying the government at all times because it is correct, praise be to the Baron.

This game is a staple of heavy strategy, it looks very light but it is actually brutal and unforgiving, addicting as hell.

Jack and Caleah rattle off a bunch of games exclusively for 2 players, and also talk about our favorite games for two players.
Jack and Joel both have partners that play games, so two player games are highly sought after. There are a lot of classic games like Cribbage that run well with 2 players, plenty of good new ones too.
We teach the concept of the Intrigue game, very much an entry level party type concept.
The intrigue can be played with anyone, but can also ramp up to heavier intrigue games like Dark Moon and Wrath of Dracula.
