What's Important Now has been airing since 2003. Hosted by Tom Sears, the program takes a look at current events and applies biblical understanding to them. This program focuses heavily on America's Christian Heritage and the fight to ensure it's survival.
America is not having a political argument right now. It is having a foundational one. And those do not resolve the same way.
For as long as most people can remember, the assumption has been that the battles playing out in American culture are just the normal back-and-forth of a diverse democracy. Left and right. Liberal and conservative. The pendulum swings, and eventually it swings back.
That assumption is wrong. And understanding why it is wrong is the beginning of understanding everything else happening in this country right now.
In Episode 2 of the Battle Is On series, Tom Sears lays out the two visions of America that are competing for the soul of the nation. Not two political platforms. Two completely different answers to the most foundational questions of human life. Where do rights come from. What is a human being. What holds a free society together. Two answers so different they cannot permanently coexist. Only one of them can win.
Tom also addresses the hardest objection to America's Christian heritage head-on. The slavery argument. And he brings in the most powerful possible answer to it. Not a political argument. A historical one. Frederick Douglass was a man who had been enslaved and had every reason to reject the founding as fraudulent. He chose instead to wield the founding principles as the most powerful weapon against the injustice he had lived. His answer to Vision Two is the answer this episode is built around.
Tom also opens today's program with a full overview of everything available through Legacy Living Media. The books Into the Deep, Out of the Cave, Lay It Down, While It Is Day, and The Battle Is On, along with the interactive workbooks designed for personal growth and small group use. All of it is at legacylivingmedia.com.

The invisible war is the most dangerous kind. Here is why.
On Monday, we introduced the idea that America is in a war that was never declared. Today we go deeper. How does a culture actually get transformed without most people noticing? How do ideas move through institutions and reshape what an entire generation believes? And what does Scripture say about a people who do not know the time they are living in?
Why It Matters is the Wednesday edition of the What's Important Now platform, eight to twelve minutes of history, faith, and worldview designed to give you the deeper context behind what is happening in this country right now. Not just the headline. The history behind the headline. Not just the problem. The biblical framework for understanding it.
This week Tom Sears traces the strategy behind the cultural transformation of America, how the long march through the institutions works, why it has been so effective, and why the prophet Jeremiah and the Apostle Paul both issued the same warning to people living in exactly this kind of moment.
Peace, peace, when there is no peace. That is the condition of a people who are not paying attention. This program is for the people who are.

America is in a war. Not a war fought on any foreign battlefield. A war being fought right here, in classrooms, courtrooms, universities, and newsrooms, over the soul of this nation. And unlike every other war America has faced, this one was never declared. No shot heard round the world. No mobilization. Just the slow, quiet, patient work of cultural transformation that most Americans never saw coming because it was never announced.WIN Brief is the Monday edition of the What's Important Now platform: short, direct, and built for sharing. Six to eight minutes of timely commentary through a biblical lens, designed for the listener who wants clarity without the noise.
This week, Tom Sears opens the WIN Brief series with the one thing every American needs to understand right now. The battle is on. It has been on for a long time. And the first step to fighting it is knowing it exists.

America is in a war. And most of the people on our side don't know it.
Not a war fought on a battlefield. Not a war with weapons you can see. This is a war over the soul of America, over her identity, her history, and the foundation she was built on. And unlike every other war this nation has faced, this one was never declared. No shot heard round the world. No mobilization. Just the slow, quiet, patient transformation of American culture, through classrooms, courtrooms, seminaries, and newsrooms, over decades that most Americans were not watching.
In Episode 1 of The Battle Is On series, Tom Sears opens sixteen weeks of programming drawn directly from his new book The Battle Is On: America's New Civil War. Today he tackles the question that sets up everything that follows: what exactly is a culture war, why is the invisible kind the most dangerous kind, and what are the three foundational questions whose answers determine whether this republic survives?
This episode covers the shot not heard. The war nobody declared. The three questions that decide everything: where rights come from, what a human being is, and what holds a free society together. George Washington's Farewell Address. John Adams on the Constitution. And the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14 that has not expired.
This is not a program built on fear. It is built on clarity. And clarity is what this moment requires.
The Battle Is On is available now at legacylivingmedia.com along with all programs, resources, and everything Legacy Living Media produces.

The republic is not lost. But it will not be saved by those who are comfortable.
In the series finale of "250 Years: Did We Keep the Republic?" Tom Sears brings it all home with the hardest question of the series: can America survive another 250 years? And if the answer is yes, what is God requiring of this generation to make it happen?
Tom opens with three moments from history that tell the same story in three different centuries. King Josiah, who discovered the lost Book of the Law and tore his robes in grief before leading the greatest national renewal in Israel's history. Nehemiah, who wept over broken walls and then rebuilt them in 52 days. And Jeremiah Lanphier, a New York businessman who opened a room on Fulton Street in 1857, invited people to pray during their lunch hour, and watched it become a revival that swept one million souls into the kingdom in two years. Three ordinary people. Three desperate prayers. Three national turning points.
Then Tom gets specific. Not inspirational-poster specific. Practically, actionably specific. What does genuine revival actually look like in 2026? What are the five things every listener can do starting this week to be part of the answer rather than part of the problem? And what does Esther 4:14 have to say to a generation living at the most critical hinge point in American history?
Tom closes the series the way he opened it, with four words that have driven every episode. Did we keep it? His answer is honest, sobering, and full of hope.

If you want to defeat a people, you don't have to destroy their army. You just have to make them forget who they are.
In Part 3 of "250 Years: Did We Keep the Republic?" Tom Sears exposes the systematic effort to erase America's Christian heritage and how remarkably successful it has been. It didn't happen with book burnings or dramatic declarations. It happened in three quiet stages: omission, reframing, and replacement. And by the time most people noticed, an entire generation had already been shaped by the new version of the story.
Tom walks through the 1994 National History Standards that mentioned George Washington exactly once while dedicating dozens of references to McCarthyism and the KKK. He addresses the slavery argument head-on and shows why Frederick Douglass, a man who had every reason to reject the founding documents, called the Constitution a glorious liberty document and wielded it against the very injustice it had failed to prevent. He examines how Harvard, Yale, and Princeton, every one of them founded with an explicitly Christian purpose, became the engines of the secular worldview that now dominates every major American institution.
And then Tom says the thing nobody wants to hear. The erasure didn't happen only because of hostile forces outside the church. It happened because the church retreated. The schools, the universities, the media, the legal system, the public square, ground surrendered not because the enemy was stronger, but because the people of God didn't show up.
Salt that stays in the salt shaker preserves nothing.

They didn't just write a Constitution. They built a moral architecture — and we've been dismantling it for 60 years.
In Part 2 of "250 Years: Did We Keep the Republic?" Tom Sears walks through the three pillars the Founders built this nation on: the sanctity of the individual conscience, the necessity of virtue in the governed, and the covenant nature of the American experiment.
These weren't political theories; they were biblical convictions. And Washington, Adams, Madison, and Lincoln all said the same thing in different ways: without God, the republic cannot stand.
Then Tom asks the harder question. What happened to those pillars? From the prosperity of the Industrial Revolution to the theological liberalism that gutted the mainline churches, to the Supreme Court decisions of 1962 and 1963 that removed prayer and Bible reading from public schools, the unraveling didn't happen overnight. It happened the way it always does. Slowly. Quietly. One compromise at a time.
This episode also puts a human face on the cost of the founding, men like Thomas Nelson Jr., who ordered his own cannons fired on his own home rather than let it shelter the enemy, and Carter Braxton, who died in poverty having given everything to the cause. They signed that document knowing the price. The question Tom leaves you with: what are we willing to pay?

250 years ago, 56 men signed their names and changed the world. But did we keep what they built?
In Part 1 of this special 4-part series, Tom Sears digs into the faith that founded America, the biblical worldview of the Founders, the Providence they believed guided the Revolution, and the forgotten story of the Black Robe Regiment preachers who made it all possible.
As the nation celebrates its 250th anniversary, the question every American needs to face is this: do we even know what we're celebrating?

What happens when loyalty becomes more important than truth?
In this episode of What’s Important Now, Tom Sears tackles a growing issue in our culture, and even within the church, the danger of elevating loyalty to a level that overrides discernment, accountability, and truth.
When leaders are only supported if you agree…
When disagreement is labeled disloyalty…
When silence replaces conviction…Something is off.
This episode challenges listeners to think clearly, stand firmly, and examine their own hearts:
• Have you allowed loyalty to override truth?
• Are you thinking clearly or reacting emotionally?
• Have you elevated any person beyond accountability?
• Are you standing in conviction or drifting in silence?
Scripture reminds us:
“For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45 NKJV)This is not about politics.
This is about integrity.
This is about discernment.
This is about standing in truth—even when it costs you.

Pressure is not your problem.
It’s your mirror.
In this episode of What’s Important Now, Tom Sears dives into a truth every leader, parent, and believer needs to understand: pressure doesn’t create who you are, it reveals who you are.
When life gets hard, when expectations rise, when emotions are tested… what comes out of you was already in you.
So what has pressure been revealing lately?
This episode unpacks:
• Why pressure is a spotlight, not a source
• The danger of ignoring what pressure exposes
• How drift happens when we stop being intentional
• Why you don’t rise to the occasion — you fall to your preparation
• The connection between your thoughts and your responses
• How God uses pressure to refine, not destroy
• The gap between who you are and who you say you want to be
Scripture reminds us:
“For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45 NKJV)
If you want to lead well, live intentionally, and grow spiritually, you must learn to respond correctly to what pressure reveals.
Don’t ignore it.
Don’t excuse it.
Grow from it.

We are living in the most distracted generation in history.

Opinions.
News cycles.
Opportunities.
Noise.
Everyone wants your attention, but what is it costing you?
In this episode of What’s Important Now, Tom Sears challenges listeners to confront one of the greatest threats to purpose and leadership today: distraction. Because whatever consistently holds your attention is shaping your direction.
Are you busy but unproductive?
Are you active but misaligned?
Are you reacting instead of leading?
This episode dives into:
• The hidden cost of divided focus
• Why distraction is more dangerous than opposition
• How drift happens slowly and silently
• The power of saying no
• Why clarity from the top creates confidence below
• How guarding your focus protects your legacy
Scripture reminds us:
“Let your eyes look straight ahead…” (Proverbs 4:25 NKJV)
If you don’t decide what’s important now, something else will decide it for you.

Gold and silver prices are rising and fluctuating at a pace that has many people asking an uncomfortable question: Is the dollar still stable?
In this episode of What’s Important Now, we take a thoughtful, clear-eyed look at what the movement of precious metals is really signaling about confidence, currency, and the economic foundation we are standing on today.
We explore:
* Why gold and silver historically rise during times of uncertainty
* How the U.S. dollar moved from being backed by precious metals to becoming a fiat currency
* What it truly means for a system to depend on confidence that debt can “always be serviced”
* Why rising debt, inflation, and monetary expansion quietly affect everyday people
* A biblical perspective on wealth, trust, and building on foundations that endure
This isn’t about panic or predictions, it’s about discernment. Economic systems change. Currencies fluctuate. But wisdom begins by understanding what is happening beneath the headlines.

Is the world quietly positioning itself for another global conflict?
In this powerful episode of What’s Important Now, Tom Sears takes a clear-eyed look at the growing geopolitical tensions reshaping the international order. From Eastern Europe and the Middle East to Asia, Latin America, the Arctic, and the Caribbean, alliances are hardening, militaries are rearming, and long-frozen conflicts are heating up. History reminds us that world wars don’t begin overnight. They build through pressure, power struggles, and regional conflicts that pull major players into confrontation.
In this episode, Tom examines the warning signs we are seeing today, the flashpoints where global tension is rising, and why the world may be entering the most dangerous era since World War II. This is not fear-driven speculations; it’s a sober look at history, strategy, and reality.
If you want to understand what’s happening beyond the headlines and what it means for America and the future of global stability, this is an episode you need to hear.

What happens when a nation forgets the foundation on which it was built?
In this episode of What’s Important Now, we take a sobering look at America’s spiritual journey, beginning with George Washington’s public dedication of the nation to Almighty God in New York City, and contrasting it with a modern moment that signals how far the foundation has shifted.
This is not a political rant.
It’s a spiritual examination.
Drawing from history, Scripture (NKJV), and insights from Jonathan Cahn’s The Return of the Gods, this episode explores what happens when biblical faith is removed from the center of public life, and what rushes in to take its place.
We examine:
• America’s original dedication to God
• The power of symbols, oaths, and public authority
• The spiritual dangers of shifting foundations
• Ancient patterns repeating in modern culture
• Why revival without repentance can leave a nation worse than before
• And what responsibility now rests on the Church
This episode is a call to reflection, repentance, and return, not outrage. Because what’s important now is not who holds office. What’s important now is who we bow to.

As a new year begins, Tom Sears asks a sobering but necessary question: What happens when a nation forgets God? In this episode of What’s Important Now, Tom examines the historical, biblical, and cultural pattern that emerges when nations drift from God.
From Scripture to the rise and fall of civilizations, this conversation explores how prosperity often leads to complacency, how moral clarity erodes, and how spiritual forgetfulness leaves nations vulnerable from the inside out. But this is not a message of despair. Tom challenges listeners to look beyond politics and headlines and instead focus on the personal and cultural responsibility of remembering God in our homes, families, churches, and daily lives.
As the new year unfolds, this episode offers a timely call to return to truth, humility, responsibility, and faith. This episode also introduces additional podcast-only content available exclusively on podcast platforms, where deeper discussions and extended conversations continue beyond the radio broadcast.

In this powerful installment of the America at a Crossroads series, Tom Sears exposes one of the greatest failures of our modern era, the failure to pass down America’s Christian heritage to the next generation.
From the biblical command of Deuteronomy 6 to the early foundations of American education, governance, and culture, this episode reveals how deeply Christianity shaped the identity and direction of the United States. Tom walks listeners through the New England Primer, Harvard’s Christian mission, Congress printing Bibles for schools, and the spiritual worldview that influenced America’s founders.
But Tom doesn’t stop with history. He uncovers the national shift, the rewriting, the removal, and the replacement of America’s heritage, and shows how the consequences are visible in today’s culture, classrooms, and homes.
This episode is not just a diagnosis. It’s a call to action. Tom lays out a clear path for families, churches, and communities to reclaim what has been lost, rebuild spiritual foundations, and restore truth in a generation starved for identity, meaning, and direction.

🎙️ Podcast Description – America Is Dying*"Is America dying?
In this powerful extended episode of What’s Important Now, Tom Sears takes you beyond the headlines and into history. The Roman Empire—the greatest superpower of its time—collapsed not because of enemies at the gates, but because of corruption, debt, decadence, and decay from within. In this deep dive, Tom unpacks the five warning signs historians say led to Rome’s fall: political corruption and division, economic instability and debt, military overreach, moral decay and family breakdown, and the loss of civic virtue and faith. Then he asks the hard question: how closely does America today mirror those same signs? This isn’t theory. This is history—and it’s a warning. Can America wake up before it’s too late, or are we walking the same road as Rome? If you want the full picture of what history can teach us about our present—and our future—this is the episode you need to hear."*
