Up In Arms Recordings is home to MC and Producer/DJ duo Touch and Nato.
How does a virtually unknown Albertan group reach number one on Chart Attack's top 10 hip hop albums?
The answer is by making incredible music, something recognized by campus radio stations across Canada as Touch and Nato's "Intelligent Design" snuck into the number one spot this past summer, topping efforts by well-known artists like Dizzee Rascal, Moka Only and Madlib.
Their hilarious video for "Adult's Story", a Slick Rick-meets-Maury Povich riot has already received thousands of plays on popular sites like YouTube. A growing list of positive album reviews include respected websites like HipHopCanada, Urbnet and CDBaby. They've even been played on CBC Radio 3's popular podcast, with good friend Cadence Weapon singing their praises.
So, just who are these guys?
"From the land of the pickup truck and black rubber puck" (also known as Edmonton, Alberta) comes Touch, an aggressive, passionate emcee with swagger to spare, and Nato, one of the nation's best kept secrets at making beats and manning the turntables. These two don't care about anything except making booming, raw hip hop music- pop considerations are left at the door.

http://www.ugsmag.com is the home of Meet Junkyard but I want to give my podcast people a taste of this beautiful little feature that I put together.
Meet Junkyard takes you into the world of a regular guy who happens to have twelve children, three ex-wives, more scars than Christ, a lengthy criminal record, and been involved in two Vietnam tours. Junkyard has never had a bank account and he doesn’t have a phone, so sometimes he stops by his best pal Nato’s house to chat with friends.
This episode, Junkyard talks with Frek Sho alumni DJ Kutdown. Look for Kutdown’s Stay Down mixtape out soon on Foultone Records. Kutdown is also finishing up production on albums with Ismaila, Influence (Influence & Kutdown are the Bruise Brothers), and Royal-T.

Tracklisting:
PART 1 of 2 (22:30 min)
This is the first release from Up In Arms Recordings and features 13 guest MC's over instrumentals selected by Nato along with some remixes of classic songs.
The tracklisting for this segment is as follows:
"We're keeping it grimey but we don't give a shit" is what I think is the quote from JYD on this 30 minute promo of (then) unreleased material from the Up In Arms camp that was released in 2004. The Inglewood Junkyard Dog makes an appearance on here as well as Touch and Nato, Punch Bros, and Max Prime. Check the really long freestyle at the end that was recorded live on CJSR 88.5 FM in Edmonton on February 22, 2004.
TRACKLISTING:
This is the 22 minute-Nato mix taken from a mixtape that was released in 2005 by Nato, Mumps, and Touch; the trio of DJs held down the legendary Beatdown DJ night at Blackdog on Whyte Ave in Edmonton between 2005 and 2006 but unfortunatley got canned because the establishment didn't like the crowd. That was a really fun time.
Tracklist:
The Intelligent Design Promo is 11 minutes of music that is unheard on Touch and Nato's album and intended for you, the people, for free.
Featuring Nato on the beats, and Touch on the rhymes. The Inglewood Junkyard Dog hosts this sheeit... he is a 60-year old vietnam vet/ex heroin addict and is semi-crazy.
