Filipeus
My work explores the relationship between new class identities and emotional memories. With influences as diverse as Derrida and Andy Warhol, new tensions are distilled from both constructed and discovered textures. Ever since I was a student I have been fascinated by the unrelenting divergence of the moment. What starts out as contemplation soon becomes corrupted into a hegemony of defeat, leaving only a sense of failing and the prospect of a new synthesis. As momentary phenomena become transformed through frantic and personal practice, the viewer is left with a clue to the limits of our culture.
