Amanda spoke to Susan today about how some people think she is less important or that her time is not as valuable because she doesn't have a partner, she feels at times she is being taken advantage of. We had many calls from listeners on how to tackle this with colleagues, employers and family without causing a fight or appearing like a victim.
We spoke to Siobhan today about the recent diagnosis of her daughters Dyslexia. It took five years to get the condition confirmed and since then the Department of Education have not been very helpful to her. Siobhan tells Susan how difficult and expensive it is and how she feels more should be done to help. We also had many calls in reaction to this, telling us there stories.
We spoke to Lyn today about an awkward situation when she holidayed in Spain with her family this year. Through her kids, Lyn and her husband met up with another family and ended up spending several uncomfortable evenings at Bingo and Magic. This was not the plan, but they ended up spending lots of time with this other couple and their kids. They even went to a remote beach one day. They were a lovely family but it didn't mean she wanted to spend time from her precious family holiday making small talk with strangers. Is it anti social to want to avoid new friends on your family holiday? Or is it ok to just chill out with your own family?
Today, we got some parenting advice from psychiatrist Brendan Kelly. We heard all about difficult children when listeners got in touch and told us about their kids who are angels in public and abusive at home. We also spoke to one mother who thinks her son should be paying his own way now that he's working.
