Many people do not know the story of the Corvette SS and maybe have never heard of it. It was the first purpose-built GM racecar and personal project of Zora Arkus Duntov's.

It was raced in 1957 at the 12 Hours of Sebring by John Fitch. A number of technological features were first tested on this car, including fuel injection. This car will be sold at auction at Sotheby's in Miami in February 2025.

In 1960, Briggs Cunningham took 3 Corvettes to France to race at Le Mans.

After that race, the cars were brought back to the United States, put back to original and sold to consumers.

The #3 car was recovered about put back to the way it was when it raced in 1960 at Le Mans and is owned by a private owner.

The #2 car is owned by Bruce Meyers of the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

But what happened to the #1 car?  After a long legal battle, Kevin Mackay from Corvette Repair in Long Island, New York, has been putting this historic Corvette back to it's original 1960 livery for the past year (after it was purchased by Briggs Cunningham's family at auction).

Kevin comes back on CORVETTE TODAY to tell the story of the #1 Cunningham Corvette and to tell you when and where you can see this car...will it's two siblings!

It's one thing to hear Corvette stories from enthusiasts.  But it's another thing to hear legendary stories from the man who actually made the stories happen himself.  Steve Garret has the honor of talking to the legendary man who drew the design for the iconic C2 Corvette Sting Ray, Mr. Peter Brock.

It was Peter's original design that wound up becoming the C2 Corvette.  Peter tells you, first hand, about Corvette almost being killed in the late 50's and early 60's.  He also tells you how Bill Mitchell single handedly saved Corvette from extinction!  Mr. Brock also recounts the story of how Zora Arkus-Duntov hated the 1963 Split Window Corvette.
