CrossRoads is a contemporary church located in Norfolk, Virginia made up of people from all stages of life and diverse backgrounds. We live as a family on mission bringing God’s Kingdom and gospel message to the Campus, Community, and World.
Suicide and depression have occupied the public consciousness with the recent losses of Kate Spade, Anthony Bourdain, and, most recently, Pastor Jarrid Wilson. Statistics further warn that, as we gather each Sunday to worship and sing praises to God, we may stand shoulder to shoulder with people who are battling great sadness or depression. This Sunday, Pastor Kevin comes to the end of the Jonah series and will discuss these important (but often undiscussed) topics and how the gospel gives us hope.

At some point in our life, we will all likely find ourselves exactly where Jonah did, at the bottom. It’s here that we find out "who" or "what" we put our trust in and where we learn more about the heart of God. Join us this Sunday, as Nigel Anderson helps us better understand the heart of God and the hope He gives during the hard times.
The story of Jonah is much more than a colorful and entertaining story about a man being swallowed by a big fish; it is the tale of God’s redemption for a lost and broken world. Through Jonah’s bizarre journey, Pastor Kevin will help us better understand the incredible mission of God and extend the invitation for each of us to follow God wherever He deems best.
The story of Jonah is really all of our stories. Each of us can look back at some point in our lives and see where we have attempted to run from God. What many of us "runners" have discovered is that, while we can run from God, we cannot outrun God!

The gospel is the greatest message of all time, however, parts of it are difficult to accept and live out. If we do embrace the whole gospel, it will result in the greatest change we can ever experience. As we prepare to celebrate Easter, we will look at the life of Peter and how he eventually embraced the whole gospel message, even the uncomfortable parts, and how it resulted in eternal and lasting change for him and those around him.

As many of you are aware, November is National Adoption Month. Each week we have heard touching adoption stories of couples in our church family and we have been praying for orphans by name. This weekend we are excited to host a foster/adoption conference, Entrusted, here at CrossRoads. Our conference speakers Nick and Kristle Davis will be sharing their moving story of adoption and how it is a picture of the spiritual adoption that we have into the family of God through His son Jesus Christ. Growing up most of us were taught to never talk about religion or politics in public. This week Pastor Kevin will do both. We will continue the Living Stones sermon series looking at how God appointed David to be King of Israel. As we approach the election next Tuesday, we need to consider the important role our faith plays in the public square, specifically the political process. This Sunday we officially Launch the Living Stones Building Campaign (well, since we were CLOSED for the storm last week!) in an effort to make some much needed renovations to our church building. 1 Peter says that through the gospel we are now “living stones”, being built and made into something that we could never be apart from God. On Sunday, we will start a sermon series called Living Stones where we will clearly see that God is not most interested in constructing buildings or things, but that He wants to build us, His people, into a spiritual house. We will have a special guest from the Virginia Beach Justice Initiative and he will share with us about VBJI and how to get involved with the work of justice in Hampton Roads. This is going to be an amazing morning as we explore how God is against injustice and causes us to act on behalf of those who can’t speak for themselves.
Due to the more mature nature of this discussion, there are some topics that are not appropriate for younger children.

This Sunday Pastor Kevin will continue the series EXILES WITH HOPE. We will be discussing how we as Christians engage the world without being like the world. We are also excited to conclude the "We Feed" food drive as we all bring our green bags back to church full of food and see how the Lord has provided for us to provide for others. Please join us as we worship our King together.
As many of you are aware, there was a march scheduled for the streets of Larchmont for this Friday. Our church loves the Larchmont community and wants to serve it in any way possible so the leadership of our church reached out to the march organizers last week to discuss the intent and desired outcome of their event. As the result of numerous conversations, all parties have agreed that it would be healthier and more effective to move the march off of the streets and provide an opportunity for healthy discussion and dialogue on the issues of race and equality. As a result, this Friday, July 22 from 6PM to 8PM at Crossroads there will be a moderated community discussion of these issues. The goal of this gathering is to promote more unity and understanding in the City of Norfolk. Although there are varying ideas, views, and perspectives both our church and the leaders of the march have agreed to have an honest and respectful conversation. We hope you will join the discussion as it is an excellent opportunity to serve our local community and hear different perspectives.
