James Reilly is a DC native and a long time fan of the Hoos. He give us his take on what the upside of hoops and football. John has long believed that UVA is one of the top underachieving brands in college sports and asks James why...candid answers follow.

This week has been full of NCAA hoops scandal. The whole circus leaves us wondering what the NCAA has been doing. Why did the FBI have to come in to find all this? Why wasn't the NCAA doing its job? Even more curious, why does it seem to be better at staying on top of football? Seemingly every football blue blood has felt the NCAA's discipline in the last 20 years...and yet very few blue blood basketball programs. Why would that be? Then the guys let you know that they think this is the end of the NCAA as we know it. The Power 5 should not waste a good crisis and should take the opportunity to change the landscape. The time for them to clean up the game we love, end its association with less than scrupulous humans, and do what's right for young players who rely on this system.
