There's no reason to assume that getting adjusted by your chiropractor will help you prevent the disease or decrease your symptoms. Here’s the state of the research and what we know about chiropractic and the immune system.
Dr. Noah Volz is the creator and host of DC2BeRevolution, a podcast and YouTube channel with over 100 interviews with the most influential people in chiropractic. To be contributors to society, it is not necessarily enough to acknowledge that we each have a different way of interacting in the world. To be truly effective, we must understand and grow from the richness that others offer to the social fabric. – Claire Johnson, et al. Multiple views to address diversity issues: an initial dialog to advance the chiropractic profession.
The most successful people in the world have one thing in common: they read. And they read a lot.
Warren Buffett, the richest man in the world, continues to read up to 500 pages per day.
Bill Gates has reportedly read a book a week since high school.
Elon Musk devoured books of all genres when he was a kid, and has credited physics and engineering textbooks with getting him up to speed on rocket science - literally.
Dr. Scott Haldeman, DC, PhD, MD, a reknowned spine specialist, thinks you should be reading at least 5 hours per week to keep up with the latest spine research.
"I don't think you're capable of offering care to patients if you're not reading 2-5 hours per week. If you're not reading the research 2-5 hours each week, you're going to very rapidly become outdated.” – Scott Haldeman, DC, PhD, MD
“Read 500 pages every day. That’s how knowledge works. It builds up, like compound interest. All of you can do it, but I guarantee not many of you will do it.” – Warren Buffett
It’s no question that reading is a skill and a habit that must be developed and honed. And there’s no better time to start than before you go to chiropractic school.
Here is my list of must-read books for pre-chiropractic students. I’ve either read the book, or had it recommended by guests on my podcast.
Of course, if you’re already in school, it’s not too late to start. Each recommendation includes links to the book on Amazon, Kindle, and where available, the audiobook on Audible or the summary on Blinkist.

Stay tuned for part 3 for more hilarious stories about his time in school.
The Western States ® 100-Mile Endurance Run is the world’s oldest 100-mile trail race. Starting in Squaw Valley, California and ending 100.2 miles later. Following the historic Western States Trail, runners climb more than 18,000 feet and descend nearly 23,000 feet before they reach the finish line at Placer High School in Gordy’s hometown of Auburn, California. It is held on the last weekend of June each year. I got to volunteer at the race and witness this spectacle of endurance last year, and was lucky enough to meet up with Gordy a couple of days later. In the next few episodes, you’ll hear my extended interview with Dr. Gordon Ainsleigh, which I recorded just after last year’s Western States 100. Part 1 In this portion of my interview, Gordy tells the story of how it all started, how the horses actually held him back, and why caffeine is a recipe for disaster in ultra runs.

The Subluxation - The displaced bones of any luxated joint may impinge upon a nerve, or by their displacement cause a nerve to be stretched, thereby creating inflammation. Palmer, D.D. (2007-09-03). The Chiropractor (p. 48). These conditions may be relieved by adjusting the displaced vertebrae which impinge against the nerves. Palmer, D.D. (2007-09-03). The Chiropractor (p. 62). …but A displacement displaces vertebrae, spreads them apart, does not draw them together. Palmer, D.D. (2007-09-03). The Chiropractor (p. 69). Do you not see that the long, wide gap between the atlas and axis affords no possible chance for nerve compression—no more than there is between the atlas and occiput? If you think the first or second spinal nerves can be pinched, compressed or squeezed by the approximation of the atlas and the axis or the drawing together of the occiput and the atlas, just try to explain such a condition to your next prospective patient. Palmer, D.D. (2007-09-03). The Chiropractor (p. 50). The intervertebral disks are not compressed, made thinner, the nerves are not occluded, pinched or impinged upon. We, as chiropractors, have no use for such unscientific terms as “The spinal windows are occluded, closed up.” Palmer, D.D. (2007-09-03). The Chiropractor (pp. 89-90). The importance of bone pressure, nerve impingement, nerve tension, the all important fact that the position of the osseous frame, the neuroskeleton of the human body, has all to do with the amount of nerve tension, normal or abnormal, known as nerve strain, the amount of heat, is never mentioned, in fact, is never thought of by the teachers of medical or chiropractic schools. Palmer, D.D. (2007-09-03). The Chiropractor (p. 107). but then… Knowing the structure of bones and nerves, the names of each and all their surfaces, the descriptive terms, nomenclature and classification, their location and functions, do not inform us of the importance which chiropractors should attach to the position of bones. Palmer, D.D. (2007-09-03). The Chiropractor (p. 108). Why remain satisfied with a meager knowledge of the science, art and philosophy of chiropractic? Why not advance onward and upward toward perfection[…] Palmer, D.D. (2007-09-03). The Chiropractor (p. 16).

Quasi-Religious "The knowledge and philosophy given me by Dr. Jim Atkinson, an intelligent spiritual being, together with explanations of phenomena, principles resolved from causes, effects, powers, laws and utility, appealed to my reason. The method by which I obtained an explanation of certain physical phenomena, from an intelligence in the spiritual world, is known in biblical language as inspiration." Palmer, D.D. (2007-09-03). The Chiropractor (p. 5). Referring to Richette’s (Ricket's Disease) "A natural insight of your teacher, untrammeled by superstition or education, assisted by revelation and an investigation from a chiropractic viewpoint has enabled him to throw an illuminating light on the etiology of this heretofore mysterious disease." Palmer, D.D. (2007-09-03). The Chiropractor (p. 37). "It was quite mindful and generous of those who framed the California Medical Act to coincide with the Constitution of the United States in not allowing the Medical Act to conflict with the Constitution of the United States nor interfere with the religious duty of chiropractors, a privilege already conferred upon them. It now becomes us as chiropractors to [assert] our religious rights." Palmer, D.D. (2007-09-03). The Chiropractor (p. 1). vs… "I do not propose to change chiropractic, either in its science, art or philosophy, into a religion." Palmer, D.D. (2007-09-03). The Chiropractor (p. 6). "Physicians deal with the physical only; chiropractors with both the physical and the spiritual." Palmer, D.D. (2007-09-03). The Chiropractor (p. 9).
Dr. Lona Cook is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as Northwestern Health Sciences University for her Doctorate of Chiropractic. She is the author of the book “Just Tell Me Where To Start - Insight on Blasting into Chiropractic Practice” in which she details how she paid of all of her student loans in exactly 2 years. In my interview with her we talk about: How did you manage to pay off $150,000 of loan debt in 2 years? Why weren't you content just doing what everyone else does and sticking to the 10 year plan? What was the feeling like that month after you had paid off your loans? You had an extra $10,000 in expendable income! What should students do right now to prepare for practice? How do you manage to afford technique seminars and extra courses while in school? How did you provide for yourself during those 6 months post graduation? Is paying off your loans early dependent on a high volume principle based practice?
School has really picked up and I haven't had time to edit the 3 or so interviews I have in the feed. eek In the meantime, I'll be sharing some thoughts on one of my 'Tic Picks.
