Public access to hiking trails in Susquehanna County was hard to come by for a long time. But times have changed. The old rail system on the eastern portion of the county is gone, and in its place is a great trail system that allows for recreational hiking, biking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and even sectional access to ATVs. If your farm is located in an Agricultural Security Area, contains contiguous acreage of at least 50 acres, contains at least 50% soils of a capability class I-IV as defined by USDA-NRCS, has at least 50% of the property’s total acreage in current use as harvested cropland (excluding timber harvest), pasture, or grazing land and is not part of a normal farming operation generating farm income, contact the Susquehanna County Conservation District before January 15th, 2019 to fill out an application to preserve your agricultural land.
