Yovana Mendoza Ayres introduced her blog Rawvana in 2013 to share how our raw vegan lifestyle had helped her get her life back in order. She built a fan base of 2 million followers on her YouTube channel who turned to her for tips on exercise, routine healthy recipes, clean beauty practices, and an eco-friendly lifestyle. Before she transformed her life, Yovana was a young student living in Paris where she struggled with her health and addictions to substances. On today's podcast, we welcome Amy Duncan, founder of Mowellens, beauty and wellness company dedicated to creating a range of clean CBD-infused products. Her journey as an entrepreneur started after learning that her husband's brain tumor had returned. Originally from Saint Louis, Missouri, Amy moved to California with a job promotion in health and biotech research.
At the time, Amy was testing for pure cannabis and discovered that products were being obstructed with butane and other solvents. With a deep knowledge and passion for the plant, she saw the opportunity to create a line of CBD goods, free of pesticides, additives, and synthetic and toxic compounds. Her brand has been featured in major publications like W magazine, US Weekly and Forbes. While her story has also been inspiring people all over, sadly, her husband, a former professional baseball player for the Saint Louis Cardinals and World Series Champion passed away this September at the age of 38, but his memory will forever live in Amy and her company.
Johnny Ramirez may be a high-school drop out, but he is considered one of the top colorists in the United States. In prayer, he asked God for guidance. He had a daughter and was making $300 dollars a week when he met the person who introduced him to hair. Johnny seized the opportunity, and in the face of racism and tough conditions, he paved his way to the top. He now collaborates with big brands like L'Orèal and travels the world teaching his technique that has helped many hairdressers and salons around the world to shift their reality–like his housekeeper, Maggie Garcia, who went from scrubbing floors to buying a home for her and her daughter.
