This one is a stange one, folks. The spooky news of the week went off the rails with the conversation of Summerween, Nicholas Cage not believing in Bigfoot, and satellites making fake daylight. However, when the lore of the week happens? We discuss a strange case out of England. It involves a vampire, mass hysteria hunt, a magicians duel, and exorcisms. This is one episode you won't want to miss.
According to Lorraine Boissoneault, "The circus had just completed two performances in Michigan City, Indiana, and was traveling overnight the 45 miles to nearby Hammond. The first train, carrying workers and many of the circus animals, cruised on to its destination with no problems. But engineers on the second train halted their progress to fix a hotbox. The overheated axle bearing could cause a fire on the train if not deal with immediately. It was around 4 a.m. when the second train pulled off onto a side track, but the last five cars— including four wooden sleeper cars—remained on the main track. As the engineers worked, and the performers slept, an empty train used to transport soldiers to the East Coast for subsequent deployment to the warfront in Europe came barreling down the main track. The driver blew past several stop signals, and then the lamps of several of the circus engineers trying desperately to stop the oncoming train. But the train’s steel-frame Pullman cars smashed into the wooden circus coaches, at speeds between 25 and 60 miles per hour, according to contemporaneous newspaper reports. The sound of the collision was so loud that nearby farmers awoke and hurried to see what had happened." What people came to see was one of the worst train accidents of all time. Many people were injured, and many people died that day. Some were burnt up from the crash so bad they were able to be identified. The dead performers, both identified and not were laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Chicago. That plot is now known as Showmen's Rest. The ghost stories attached to the area include people hearing ghostly animal noises, and circus music at the cemetery. Our quick investigation lead us to find if the crash site is haunted or not.

We want to introduce you to Chris Fleming. According to Chris's website, "Christopher Fleming is an internationally recognized paranormal investigator, spiritual medium, artist and speaker with over five decades of firsthand encounters with the supernatural and spiritual realms. Week two of Paranormal Researchers month, we welcome back to the show Rebecca and Pat from Ghostly Podcast. The story starts Cottage City Maryland in the home of the Ronald Hunkeler (Thanks Ghostly Podcast for the scoop.) There he learned about the spiritualism movement from his aunt Harriett. She taught the family how to use Ouija boards and the such. Upon her death, the family was experiencing some supernatural experiences around the home. Thinking it would help, the did a séance to see if it was the aunt. From there, Ronald began experiencing signs of possession. The monster also possesses no discernible head, The Grafton Monsters head was rested in the middle of his chest. The Grafton Monster has a very deep bellow, being heard for miles." According to the Encyclopedia of Crytpids, "The sasabonsam or asanbosam is a vampire-like creature in the folklore of Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, and Togo.[1] A sighting is reputed to have occured in 1918 or 1928, making it a true cryptid, specifically a flying humanoid. Sculptures of the sasabonsam depict it as a humanoid creature with a bearded human face, long hair, a pair of horns or pointed ears, a skinny body with protruding ribs, short forelimbs connected to "a pair of thin membranes resembling a bat's wings," and long, twisted legs." In West Africa, they tell tales of one of the most terrifying vampire stories out there. Meet David. David has been researching the paranormal for many years, and specializes in Sasquatch lore. He is what the community calls a, "Side B" believer, meaning that the sasquatch are spiritual creatures who can come and go as they please through dimensional portals. In recent news, California is attempting to make Bigfoot their official cryptid of the state. That got Bob thinking, is there a cryptid associated with his home state of Indiana? Well, low-and-behold...there is. Meet The Beast of Busco, an enormous giant sized snapping turtle. It was said to be 12 feet long, and 500 pounds. This week we look at SCP-097, SCP-149, and SCP 354. We also look at a zombie fungus that infecting cave spiders, and Adele's apparently haunted residence.
According to Yokai.com, "The baku is a strange, holy beast that has the body of a bear, the head of an elephant, the eyes of a rhinoceros, the tail of an ox, and the legs of a tiger. Despite their monstrous appearance, baku are revered as powerful forces of good and as one of the holy protectors of mankind." However it goes deeper then that. These things legit eat nightmares caused by evil spirits. However, if you summon a Baku, you best have legit bad nightmares. For if it is not satisfied? The Baku will consume your hopes and dreams instead. Also in this recording, Bob shares his fears over a creepypasta. This story is about the Pokémon, Hypno, whom was based off the legendary Baku. It is supposedly a large, 7 ft (~2.1 m) tall, hairy, black, manlike creature that eats dogs and cats, and emits a terrible odor. Some suggest it was a rogue black bear. Following sightings in 1972 beginning at 3:30 p.m. July 11, first reported by Terry, Wally, and Doris Harrison, and lasting for about 2 weeks, tracks were found and submitted to Lawrence Curtis, director of the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden. He deemed the tracks to be a hoax." But, was it a hoax? One of the witnesses went to her grave believing what she saw was real. That's right folks, over the weekend, we had drone footage going on and national scare of things. So, Bob did the best he could to wrap everything in a box wrapped with a nice ribbon. We look at NPR articles, even looking at a government issued statement from a general in our military. Then we take a look at the holiday season and tell some brief excepts from stories that involve ghosts and the holiday season.
According to Joseph Sherwood, "In the Thai version of the story, the krasue was originally a normal human woman who lived a very sinful life. Because of her transgressions during her previous life, she is reborn as a ghost that must live off of rotten or uncooked food. The krasue is cursed to always feel hunger and to only be able to feed at night. To satisfy its ceaseless hunger, the krasue flies around in the night looking for blood and raw flesh to devour. It is known to attack cows and chickens while their owners are sleeping. The krasue will also eat carrion or even feces if there is no fresh blood and flesh to eat." The best part? When it feeds? It legit is a floating head with entrails dangling from it's neck. We also talk about the December 3rd alien attacks, jogging robots, and mass graves.
Meet John Harrison. He is a Professor of Mathematics at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Doctor of Theorical Physics. John came on to the show to talk about Thermodynamics and ghosts. If ghosts were to exist, how would they appear? Would it suck up a lot of energy? He also talks about the belief in orbs, and how they could be more plausible than actual full body apparitions. The most interesting question asked is how science can or can not explain away an after life. Also, John is asked about how spiritual photography, spirit boxes, and EVPS work in the actual science behind it. This is one episode you won't want to miss.

Estes Method: A technique that allows investigators to sensory deprecate themselves into a channel in which they could communicate with the dead. They use a blind fold and listening blocking muffs, and filter white noise into it.

Pendulums: A crystal that dangles by thread. Can be used to make the spirits move it in a direction to answer a question.

Ouija Boards: A piece of wood with letters and phrases on there. Idea is that people use a planchette to move around the board guided by spirits.
These are just three quick tools or methods people use to communicate with the dead.

According to the Business Standard, "They might knock on your door on a late wintry night. You may see them approaching your car while you are waiting at the signal or a gas station. It might seem like they need help or they might just stand still for no reason. These children do not look threatening. They would want to get in your house or your car. They will be persistent. Suddenly, you will notice something is not right about these children. Their eyes, pure black, from lid-to-lid, dead black orbs devoid of sclera or iris will chill up your spine; you have finally come across the black-eyed children. Black-eyed children or black-eyed kids is an urban legend of paranormal creatures that resemble children between the ages of six and sixteen. These creatures with pale skin and black eyes have reportedly been seen hitchhiking, panhandling, or at the doorsteps of residential homes." So, we look at some of these cases. Are they vampires? Now that we bored you with a history lesson of Estonia, how about some folklore. Including a ghost of a lighthouse keeper, a gentle giant, and other creatures.
According to the Villain's Wiki, "Jenny Greenteeth is a malevolent hag from English folklore associated with bodies of water such as rivers, streams and lakes - areas of land which the creature would haunt in order to lay in wait for unwary travelers to stray too close to the water's edge, at which point she would drag her victims into the water and drown them before devouring them : like many hags she had a fondness for killing and eating children but would attack any, regardless of age, that strayed into her path." What an interesting way to describe an odd creature. This week, Bob and Count investigate the strange case of Jenny Greenteeth, and several spooky news stories, including a black smoke ring, and haunted dolls. How exciting? What's the opposite of scary ghost stories? Well, not scary ghost stories! This week Bob went scouring the internet (mostly Reddit) to try and track down ghost stories that are not about demonic activity, or poltergeist activity. Stories of grandma's baked bread smells popping up when no one's cooking, hello's in dreams, and of course warnings from the other side that saved lives.
According to the BBC, "In August 1977, the police arrived at 284 Green Street in the north London suburb of Enfield. Peggy Hodgson, a single mother of four, reported that her two young daughters – Janet, aged 11, and older sister Margaret – had heard strange knocking. The source of the sound could not be determined. They called in the neighbours who were also disturbed by what they heard. Out of desperation, they rang the police, one of whom reportedly saw a chair move of its own accord. Next, they turned to the press. Over the next 18 months, stories of increasingly strange phenomena emerged from the house. Furniture was hurled across the rooms, there were reports of "paranormal whistling" and, most unsettling of all, Janet Hodgson was heard to talk with the rasping voice of an old man. The case came to the attention of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR), and two of its members, inventor turned paranormal investigator Maurice Grosse and writer Guy Lyon Playfair, were sent to investigate. Playfair would later publish a book, This House is Haunted, about his experiences." This case is absolutely batty! Steve Micheals joins us for a look at this haunting as we dissect the truths behind this case. Is this a Hooey case? Or was there something to the hauntings? According to the Cryptid Wiki, "During the early 1970s, something horrible stalked the small town of Enfield, Illinois. Although Illinois is already home to phenomena such as strange lights, phantom black panthers, and Thunderbirds, something even stranger briefly haunted the people of this town. On April 25th, 1973, Henry McDaniel was among the first to encounter this terrible aberration, the Enfield Horror." The story from here gets weirder and weirder. Not a lot is known about her, but the little bit we did find out is worth some interesting discussion. Bob has noticed an interesting trend in his early streams on his Twitch channel. A small surge of viewers from Ecuador and Chile! So, what better way to reward than doing an episode about a piece of spooky folklore from their neck of the woods. Meet the Pishtaco. Not to be confused with a fish taco, the pishtaco is a strange vampiric creature who lives off of, get this, human fat. These things drain the fat out of a person, and feeds on it. Then, even stranger, they sell this fat to the beauty care companies out of Europe. These are vampires who don't have the stereotypical look to a classic blood sucker. They look like everyday folk, but with something just...off about them. What is interesting is that this is the MAJOR big bad of that neck of the woods. To this day, rural areas in the Ande mountain area still believe in the Pishtaco. Also, Count Panek and Bob talk about the life span of a ghost, and Mothman rootbeer!

So what we have here is a sort of distant relative of Count Panek. It's a strange creature out of the Filipino folklore that maybe a bit scary for our younger audience, so viewer discretion is advised. We also talk about spooky chicken nugget shapes? What is the opposite of a yes deer? A Not Deer. ba dum tis. According to the Cryptid Wiki, "The Not Deer is a creature said to inhabit the Appalachian Mountains with most sightings being in the state of Tennessee." If you look at the common trends in the paranormal, a lot have to do with the high strange in the Appalachia areas. Specifically right around West Virginia. A lot of folk magik still be practiced in 2024, cryptid sightings up the wazoo, and occult like traditions like not to whistle at night. One of these stories is what we talk about this week. A Not Deer. A strange creature that looks like a deer, but does not act like one. Being able to run on its hind legs at fast speeds, incredible intelligence, and frightening features.
According to Yokai.com, "A terror from Western Japan, ushi oni is a class of monster that lives near water. The name literally means “ox demon,” and it refers to a number of different monsters with bovine traits. Most Ushi oni resemble an ox from the head up and a demonic horror below. Many variations are known to exist; the body of an ox with a head like an oni’s; the head of an ox on a body like a spider’s or a cat’s; or even an ox’s head on the body of a kimono-clad human (a Japanese version of the minotaur)." This thing is wild. It's one part siren, one part spider, one part ox, and did we mention it BREATHES POISION GAS?!
According to Galnet, "Walking Sam is an ancient being, according to Native American lore, tied in closely with spiritual beings known as the "Stick Indians." Stick Indians are the shadow people or dWark people. Even in childhood, children hear legends of these dark forces, demonic presences that will stalk reservations and try to lure unsuspecting victims to their doom. They have a cloud of death that hangs over them and follows them, no matter who they are stalking.You may know if one is nearby because you will hear it whistling to you. Is this tall whistling nightmare something that's mystery can be cracked?
Wisconsin is the home to many things. Beer, cheese, and cheese curds to name a few. However, what if I was to tell you that there was some dark lore going on in that dairy state. In the small mining town of Mineral Point, there was reports of people dressing like vampires running around scarring the public. However, one case in particular was a bit odd. One night, while chasing a caped wearing fellow in a cemetery, police stopped him and he ran off. They followed his foot prints in the snow until they got to a giant stone wall. Looking over the other side showed no foot prints what so ever. Was there really a vampire causing havoc?

Stop me if you heard this one before...guy picks up young lady walking down a dark road. She needs a ride. She gets in, is awfully quiet, and asks to be dropped off at a cemetery. She gets out, and vanishes. Looking in the backseat, the driver sees she left her scarf. Tracking down where he thought she lived? Turns out she has been dead for 10 years. This is a common trope in ghost stories known as the vanishing hitchhiker. Being in Chicagoland, the story around us is Resurrection Mary on the South Side. This story comes to us from Black Horse Lake in Montana. According to hwy.com, "Black Horse Lake is just a few miles north of Great Falls in Cascade County in north-central Montana. This is a major crossroads where several highways come together, including Interstate 15 and U.S. Highway 87." So this remote area is also seeming to be pretty popular during driving. Hwy.com goes on to say, "The various accounts almost always describe the hitchhiker of Black Horse Lake as a Native American man with long, black hair. He wears either a denim jacket or overalls and stands on the side of the state highway, signaling for a ride. However, just as the driver passes, the hitchhiker suddenly lurches in front of the car." According to Diana Yeado, "Once long ago and not so far away lived a lovely young maiden named Anna Story. She and her mother and the rest of their family lived in a little shack by the railroad tracks close to Leyden. About the same time there lived a Syrian peddler by the name of Sam Kalil who rode around the countryside selling from his wagonload of pots, pans and household items. He wanted to marry the beautiful Anna but her mother would have none of it. But she did have an eye for a good deal. So she told the peddler to come back when Anna was sixteen and he could have her hand in marriage...if...in the meantime she could help herself to his wares." We have an origin story with this. Long story short, Kalil murdered Anna and was sentenced. All these years later, some say that Anna haunts a stretch of road in Walhalla, North Dakota now called White Lady Lane. However, like most paranormal ghost stories? There are multiple origin stories to White Lady Lane. According to Dangerousroads.org, "The road has been found to be the most haunted road (or reputedly so) in Pennsylvania, with drivers reporting all sorts of strange goings on which have left them spooked. Located in McCandless Twp, in Allegheny County, it’s one of the most enduring urban legends in the Pittsburgh region. The road is also known as Blue Mist Road, because an eerie blue mist that covers the road from time to time. There's a cemetery on this street. It has “road closed - no access” signs posted at both ends of the three mile street. Along this unpaved road are only a few houses and some abandoned structures. Local stories of murders, mysterious floating blue orbs, lynchings and people being chased by ghosts and strange animals seem pretty easy to believe on a stretch of desolate road in the middle of a big, busy and well-maintained county park." According to the Cryptid Wiki, "The city of Toronto once had numerous streams and waterways that, as the city expanded, were built over and became a network of underground waterways, buried beneath the city and merging with the sewer systems. The Algonquian tribes of Canada spoke of man-like hairy creatures that thrived in these rivers before they were hidden away from the public. In 1978, a similar monkey-like creature was sighted living in an underground tunnel in Toronto." So what is the tunnel monster? We dive deep to see if it's an Ojibwe water spirit, feral creature, or perhaps even a Canadian Chupacabra.
According to Legends of America, "The Lemp Family began with Johann Adam Lemp, who arrived in St Louis from Eschwege, Germany, in 1838. Building a small grocery store at what is now Delmar and 6th Streets, he sold everyday household items, groceries, and homemade beer. The light golden lager was a welcome change from the darker beers that were sold at the time. The recipe, handed down by his father, was so popular that just two years later, he gave up the grocery store and built a small brewery in 1840 at a point close to where the Gateway Arch stands today. Lemp first sold his beer in a pub attached to the brewery, introducing St. Louis to its first lager. Before long, Lemp found that the brewery was too small to handle production and storage and found a limestone cave south of the city limits. The cave, located at the present-day corner of Cherokee and De Menil Place, could be kept cool by chopping ice from the nearby Mississippi River and depositing it inside, providing perfect conditions for the lagering process to run its course. Lemp’s Western Brewing Co. continued to prosper and, by the 1850s, was one of the largest in the city. In 1858, the beer captured first place at the annual St. Louis fair." Now how does someone who made beer to go to being cursed? " Scandals, secret child, and untimely deaths are all things to expect in this show.
Do you like being tickled? If the answer is no, then maybe you should avoid the Inuit demon known as The Mahaha. The Mahaha resembles an emaciated Inuit dressed in torn Inuk clothes. Their skin appears at least mildly blue (putrid and badly frostbitten), and their hair is often long, brittle and frozen stiff. Their eyes are often pale blue, or gray, or perhaps white without irises. They have a long, sharp set of fingernails, to boot. Their favorite way to torture their victims? Pin them down with some ice and tickle them to death. Wild stuff, eh? We also talk about the giant 10 foot creature supposedly wandering around the Miami Mall.

The area was often disputed, and as a result, many souls were lost in the bloody battle between the two nations. The Redcap was said to either take advantage of this conflict or be born from it, haunting the ruins of the Borders these fairy folk would murder any mortal foolish enough to get in their path." According to Legends of American, "The beast as a half-reptile, half-bird with a metallic-like beak lined with razor-sharp teeth. Sometimes it is described as having octopus-like tentacles. The earliest stories claim that this monster sucked the blood of its victims." This is one mysterious cryptid! Even has a presidential tie in with Theodore Roosevelt!
According to The Cryptid Wiki, "The Dover Demon is a small humanoid reported from Dover, Massachusetts. It was the subject of an intensive scare during the 1970s, when multiple witnesses came forward with their sightings. The Dover Demon is described as looking sort of like the "gray" variety of alien, except that it has rosy tan colored skin instead. The Dover Demon has a large head on a small, stick-like body. It can be bipedal, but it often travels on all fours or switches back and forth between the two modes of locomotion. It has eyes that glow, usually orange, or sometimes green. It does not seem to wear any clothing, and unlike the grays, the Dover Demon does not seem to be associated with any UFOs. It just wanders around on its own." It's the makings of a classic scary story, Children of the Night. Weird creature wandering around the woods, only teenagers seeing it, and it's eerie presence only while driving.

Freddy Krueger, whom was played by Robert Englund, is at the forefront of the series, killing teen agers while they sleep. It scared folk all through these past 40 years the franchise existed, but it's just a movie right? Freddy can't hurt you...can he? On this episode of BAD, the boys look at the lore behind the character and see if he was based on a true story.

It seems clear, however, that those who have had an encounter with this larger version of the beast are actually describing a run-in with a prototypical hairy humanoid and not the smaller, more primate-like Devil Monkey." On July 26, 2023 the United States Congress held a meeting with top ranking military personnel in regards to UFO sightings and debriefing that was made public. According to NBC News, "A House Oversight subcommittee held a hearing on UFOs — officially known as unidentified aerial phenomena or UAPs — and heard mystifying testimony about unexplained object sightings and government possession of “nonhuman” biological matter." They go on to talk about, "David Grusch, a former U.S. intelligence official, told the panel that he is “absolutely” certain that the federal government is in possession of UAPs, citing interviews he said he conducted with 40 witnesses over a four-year period. The former U.S. intelligence official said he led Defense Department efforts to analyze reported UAP sightings and was informed of a “multidecade” Pentagon program that endeavored to collect and reconstruct crashed UAPs." In short? This is the first time the American people were told, without secret, that there could be a potential about alien life, UFO's, and UAPs. The Wallowa Lake Monster, aka Wally, is said to reside in Wallowa Lake, Oregon. According to The Cryptid Wiki, "A local legend among the Nez Perce tribe states that when the Nez Perce and Blackfeet were at war, the daughter of the Nez Perce chief fell in love with the son of the Blackfoot chief. One night, the couple took a canoe from the Nez Perce camp and rowed out on the lake. Eventually, the rival tribes realized what was happening and set out after them. The monster then came up out of the lake and attacked them, killing them all. To this day, the Nez Perce do not venture out on the lake." There were also sightings of Wally all the way through the 20th century.

You know what we don't talk about nearly enough on Bob After Dark? We don't talk about the Japanese Yokai! Way back in episode 1, we talked about the Yuki Onna, the snowy ghost who shares similarities to the North American Wendigo. Yokai are, according to Yokai.com, "Over the years, many different English words have been used as translations. Yōkai can be translated as monster, demon, spirit, or goblin, but it encompasses all of that and more. The world of yōkai also includes ghosts, gods, transformed humans and animals, spirit possession, urban legends, and other strange phenomena. It is a broad and vague term, and nothing exists in the English language that quite describes it. Yōkai is one of those words–like samurai, geisha, ninja, and sushi–that is best left in its native tongue." It's a broader umbrella term than what we look at here state side. Bob has an entire Yokai panel he does at anime conventions, so why not look at one now? Introducing the Teke Teke. According to Yokai.com, "Teke teke is a ghost who appears in a number of urban legends. Teke teke are almost always women (though in a few versions of the urban legend, the ghost is male). She has no lower half; she runs about on her arms, creating the distinctive “teke teke” sound from which she gets her name." So, lets see if we can spook Count Panek a bit with this terrifying creature.
I was to say, "Dear listener, what do you know about lumberjack lore?" You may think to yourself...well I know Paul Bunyan and his oxe Babe. Well, what if I was to tell you that lumberjacks had their own form of cryptids? They are known as the fearsome critters, and they are bizarre. Usually, the concept of the creature is there to teach new woodsmen a lesson. Whether that be not to drink too much, or don't get caught out too late, these creatures tales were passed down from generation to generation.
Have you ever seen a waterfall? It's an awfully beautiful sight! Here in America we happen to have one of the move famous of all waterfalls and that is in Niagara Falls right outside Buffalo New York. The falls are considered one of the most beautiful sights in the world, and happened to be one of the honey moon capital of the world. However, like most places in the world, there are some haunted locations around Niagara. One of the oldest theaters, Rapids Theatre, opened in 1921 the building is home to several ghost sightings. Then, opened in 1929, we have the Red Coach Inn. It's a honey moon gone wrong place that has a ghost of a murdered bride kicking around. Finally, we look at the Cave of the Evil Spirit. A place where a Native evil spirit lives and whispers curses to those who hear.

No, not the garden tool! The Rake is a creature born of internet lore, on all places 4Chan. The post read as follows: Here’s what we’ve got so far: Humanoid, about six feet tall when standing, but usually crouches and walks on all fours. It has very pale skin. The face is blank. As in, no nose, no mouth. However, it has three solid green eyes, one in the middle of its forehead, and the other two on either side of its head, towards the back. Usually seen in front yards in suburban areas. Usually just watches the observer, but will stand up and attack if approached. When it attacks, a mouth opens up, as if a hinged skull that opens at the chin. Reveals many tiny, but dull teeth. It started as a joke, but quickly turned into a popular creature to talk about. It became so popular in fact that we now have hundreds upon thousands of videos of apparent sightings.

"Do you think I'm beautiful?" Could very well be the last words you hear. Let us introduce you to the creature known as the Kuchisake-onna. A Japanese Yoaki known to stalk her pray and ask a series of questions. It happens to be Bob's favorite Japanese ghost story, and shown in Constantine.
What do you get when you cross Bigfoot, and Mothaman? You get Batquatch. Batquatch is a flying bigfoot like creature that has bat facial features. It was first spotted during the eruption of Mount St. Helen's volcano, and since has been seen a few times after. Reports vary between it causing electrical failure and flying alongside of planes.
Bob's back from Magfest! So, we want to talk about a spooky video game story. Instead of a creepypasta, why don't we look at at a story that may actual be true. An Easter Egg in the background of Loki and The Simpsons, it's an arcade cabinet. The story dates back to the 1970s with kids getting sick while playing games, and men in black collecting data instead of quarters. It even leads back to MK ULTRA, a bizarre FBI and CIA mind control project.
We gave Count Panek a chance to pick an episode, and he chose a cryptid we never discussed before. This week we travel to Scotland to a big body of water named Loch Ness. This body of water is famously home to supposedly a prehistoric creature. Over the past hundred years, tourists have flocked there to catch a glimpse of the creature. Despite sceptics believing that it doesn't exist, there are some actual scientific research that proves something large can exist in those waters. The most popular theory is that it could be a giant eel. Also, circus elephants? However, the theory that interests us the possibility it could be something related to a prehistoric era. In this episode we take a look at the possibility it could be a Plesiosaur or a descendant of. Also joining us is Steve Michaels, pro-wrestler with Ohio Valley Wrestling.

The Eagles is a fraternity that does a lot of charity work, and their main headquarters was once in this building. Considered to be one of the most haunted places to play a concert, staff says there isn't one band who hasn't had a weird experience there. This is the most ridiculous concept to an episode we researched of all time. Easily. The first part of the lore comes to us from Bantu Folklore, and that is the Devouring Gourd. You read that right. The Devouring Gourd is a story that seems to have inspired Little Shop of Horrors. It is a gourd that grew to immense proportions, and ate people until it came into combat with an arrow wielding child. Since that bit of lore is a bit short, you get a two part episode! The second piece of our story is that of a humanoid figure that resembles a walking corn stalk. Did we mention this corn stalk could be extra terrestrial, and is vampiric?

Camels are strange animals. They have large humps, spit, and live in a constant state of heat. Now, what do you think about when you think of where camels may live? First thought maybe Egypt or some sort of desert country. While you are correct, we look at two strange cases for this episode where wild camels maybe wandering around Arizona. Once upon a time ago, the United States Military had what was called The Camel Corps, which was a camel caravan for US Troops. The project was left behind when the Civil War started, and some say to this day the remnants of that project exist being called Ghost Camels. A simple Cryptid, yes. However, there is a story of a more gruesome creature called The Red Ghost. A camel that carries a dead riders skeleton on its back that causes havoc.

A strange request we get often to do subjects on are haunted transportation objects. Haunted cars, trains, and yes...even ships. How can a vehicle be haunted? If you're new to Bob After Dark, this episode will be quite the treat. Meet Steve Michaels. He is a professional wrestling superstar, and paranormal investigator. Steve is frequent co-host of Bob After Dark, and this time he comes with some friends. You see, Steve wrestles for a promotion called Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) out of Louisville. The promotion recently did a paranormal investigation of the midwest's most haunted locations, Waverly Hills Sanitorium. A few of the wrestlers call in to share their experiences with us. Once upon a time ago, there was a TB outbreak, and Waverly Hills was the quintessential treating spot for the disease, or rather...a place that was able to try to treat it. TB was a vicious disease, and during it's untreatable days a lot of folk died within those halls. Patients were subjected to experimental treatment that was sometimes worse than the disease itself. After closing it's doors, the hospital became a retirement home...which wasn't a pleasant place either. All of this leads one big energy foot print that may lead Waverly to be a haunted location.

What is evil? Well, we suppose that question is awfully suggestive depending on who you ask. If you ask Father Michael Maginot, he would answer it's a force that works in conjunction with demonic entities. You may recognize Father's name from one of the most high class paranormal investigations of the 21st Century, The Demon House in Gary, Indiana. The story goes that the home was haunted by several demons, and caused several members of a family to become possessed. The haunting caught the eye of paranormal investigator and TV personality, Zak Bagans, famous for his TV Show Ghost Adventures. Zak made a documentary about the story called, "Demon House" and has been seen millions of time by many folks. Father Michael was the Catholic Priest that was on scene for the case, and came on our show to discuss the side of his story. Learn how one man of the cloth went from being on call for a hospital chapel to diving head first into his first exorcism, and probably the most famous case the Catholic Church has had since the stories of the film, "The Exorcist."

Ivotres Littles is a Youtuber, and online personality known for her show, "Horror Movies and Beyond." A show, that I'm sure you can guess, is about horror movies. The spooky film genre is tied in with what we do in the paranormal extensively, and it is nice to tie it back in to what we do. Ivotres is a wonder personality that knows it all when it comes to the silver screen, and able to tie the spooky movies into lore that we talk about weekly on here. This week, we talk about films about dolls. Horror movies that are based on real life paranormal investigations such as, "The Conjuring" and how that will effect the paranormal world at large.
It's a new era on Bob After Dark! We are trying to get more interviews done, and get more stories being shared. This week, we feature a lovely artist by the name of Sam Sawyer or Sincerely Sam. Sam is a spooky artist who does work for tarot cards, and various other projects. This week on Bob After Dark, we interview someone a little different than what we are used to on the show. Meet Anthony "LibrarianNPC" DeMinico. Anthony is the creator of the RPG Game "GhastBashers" a game where you play a character you create that hunts paranormal entities. We have never talked about a RPG before, and for those whose are unaware, a RPG is a game where you play a game how you want in any style you want as a character you create. A roleplaying experience. The theme of the game meets Supernatural, Ghostbusters, SCP, and X-Files, and we couldn't let that go untalked about! Also, for the lore of the week we talk about the Tengu. A Japanese Yokai, or Deity, that is half man half bird. This creature is not one to be messed with. A master of martial arts, and combat.
Salt Lake City may have several mental images that come to mind when you think of it. Perhaps the scenic landscapes, or the former home of the Winter Olympics. Well, since it is the topic of this week's episode, you may have already guessed it has a spooky side to it as well. Salt Lake City is home to several haunted locations, and even a Bigfoot sighting as well.
Stop me if you heard this one before. You're driving at night, when you see a young lady on the side of the road walking. She's wearing a white dress, and typically has blonde hair. You pull over, being the good person you are, and offer her a ride. She has you drive over to where she lives, only to find out it is a cemetery. You turn to ask if this is a joke, only to see she disappears. Now, this story is a classic troupe of the vanishing hitch hiker in ghost stories. However, in the south suburbs of Chicago, you can find that same story with a girl named Mary. Mary is known to haunt Archer Ave in Justice, Illinois. Specifically right around around the area of Resurrection Cemetery.
The city of Fresno is known for a couple of things. The Forestiere Underground Gardens, the Fresno Chaffee Zoo, and the Fresno Blossom Trail. However, Fresno is also home to one of the goofiest cryptid sightings of all time. Imagine a pair of jeans just sort of walking across your lawn...and that is it. Well, the pants have a name...and that is the Fresno Nightcrawler. As silly and unthreatening as this maybe, it has won the hearts of many a paranormal fan. This week, find out why the Nightcrawler has become one of Panek's favorite paranormal stories.
There are 5 Great Lakes of America: Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario. From a natural stand point, these Lakes form some of the most breath taking sights North America has to offer. Like a lot of locations in the world, there is some high strangeness that goes on as well. Dating back to the Native tribes of North America, there are stories of the Mishibizhiw, or the Under Water Panther, that is said to be guarding sacred copper deposits, and the Great Horned serpent that is said to be a dangerous entity. Modern day, we have stories about the Lake Michigan Triangle, and the ghosts ships that sail along the lakes. Enjoy your summer trying to swim in them!
Secure. Contain. Protect. The SCP Foundation is a community based horror fiction series. It is a combination of Warehouse 13, X-Files, and Supernatural. The Foundation is responsible of containing and researching anomalous creatures, objects, and ideas that can cause issues within humanity. These can be as simple as a strange video tape, or more nefarious God-Like entitles that can cause the end of the world scenario. They are classified as: Safe, Euclid, and Keter. This week, Bob has two special guests on the show. Josh Shockley, a Master's Degree student specializing in 19th Century literature. Also, Sarge Pepper, Panel Director of Ohayo-Con, and swiss army knife of nerdom. These two have a collective knowledge of SCP Lore, and both have experience streaming games, so these are two very qualified guests. Each guest highlight a specific SCP case file. Josh talks about SCP-701, a play that when performed causes the audience and performers to go mad. Sarge discusses SCP-093 a mirror that transports personnel to alternative dimensions. Bob talks about SCP-106 an old deformed man that spits out corrosive material, and hunts people down to transport to a pocket dimension, and kills. During the discussions, other SCP lore is discussed, and it really is a good introduction to learning more about the community at large. This is one episode you won't want to miss.
Twenty minutes west of Elk Horn, you know, where the Beast of Bray Road is said to reside...there is lies a town called Whitewater. Whitewater is your typical quiet quaint town. If you go on a Sunday, it is a near ghost town. The downtown district is one that is very postcard worthy. Lots of small businesses, and parks. Not some place you would expect to be a hotbed for the paranormal. Once upon a time ago, the city was known for being one of the birth places of the Spiritualism movement, and thus got a reputation for being a witch haven. There are several stories that go into the history of the town: An old water tower known for witches gathering, three cemeteries that form a perfect triangle, and a haunted college campus. It also is home to a brewery known as Second Salem Brewery that serves up paranormal themed beers. More to come on that. The boys talk about this town this week.
If there is one spot in the world I wouldn't have thought it would have been haunted...I'd probably answer you a dam. Not much goes on there human wise. It will produce power, help water currents, and just be a place of work. However, in one place in Tennessee has changed my mind completely. From Native American Curses, tragic deaths, murders, and just strange bad luck...the Hale's Bar Dam Powerhouse has all the makings of a haunted spot.

When you think of Indiana, the last image you think of could hauntings. Images of the Indy 500, corn, Indiana Beach, and perhaps the home of Bob After Dark may come to mind. Well, nestled in the states capital in Indianapolis is a historic home built in 1858 by Alexander Hannah. This beautiful home still stands today as a relic of the era. Wide open rooms, old furniture, and the original carpeting still sit the home today. Thinking past the architectural aspects of the house, the idea that this place fits every stereotype of a classic haunted house story. If that was your thought, then you would be absolutely correct. The original residents of the house are still said to be inhabiting the home, and others as well. Upon further inspection, you find out the basement of the home was used to hide slaves away as they escaped slavery of the south, and move them along on the final parts of freedom of the north.

St. Patrick's Day is around once more, and we figured we would celebrate Fae Lore Month with something very special. Probably the most popular Fae creature of all time, the Leprechaun, is this week's topic. Join the BAD team as they look at this being's past. Everything from sightings in Portland Oregon, and even the Mobile Alabama Leprechaun has a moment to be shown.
A horse is a...uh...horse of course? Right? Well, maybe not all the time. This week kicks off Fae Lore month! The entire month of March we celebrate all things lore from world of the Fae Realm. Now, we are conditioned to look at Fae as creatures such as a tiny being with wings that children tell fables about. Truth is, not all Fae are considered equal. In this episode, we look at a horse type Fae that have a dangerous side. The Kelpie is known as a Fae creature that is known to lure in people by shapeshifting, and well...bringing them into water to eat them. The Kelpie originate from Scotland, and their stories and abilities vary from region to region.
We got a couple guests this week joining Bob and The Count. Lara Bates and Emma Rose of from The Challenger Learning Center. The Challenger Learning Center is a space simulation learning experience where they take people and simulate a real space exploration mission. From the communications at ground control, to the life support crew, and even the people that take care of controlling the experiment equipment, this is a real immersive experience. Lara and Emma have asked to come onto the show to help promote their Center's big fundraising time, and they did not come empty handed. Bob found an article discussing some of the unexplained and spooky occurrences found in space, and asks our panel of experts to discuss their reasonings for what was seen. Everything from space snakes, to weird knocking noises, this is one episode you won't want to miss! Imagine you are hanging out in a familiar spot. Mall, arcade, or even just a friends house. Maybe you are at some location for work, or even your own home. You are lazily leaning against a wall, when suddenly...You clip out of existence. Yo are transported to an area that looks like just a forgotten add on to a room. Old non-finished carpet, old dried wall paper, and just a feeling of being some place forgotten. Some place forbidden. You call out for help, but only a hear growl back. You hear that growl coming closer...You try to run but only find yourself running through an area that look very similar to the last. This is loop. You are in a plane of existence...the Back Room. The back room creepy pasta structure is common story telling trope online which someone falls through a wall, clipping themselves out of reality and end up in these backrooms. Once there, writers create a universe using this area. Some stories leave their characters a lone, some are pitted against some sort of monster type creature. Either way, this place is not one you would like to come into. Bob reads two stories about the backrooms from aspiring paranormal writers, and shares his thoughts on how this sort relates to the SCP Foundation's Never Ending Ikea. Bob also has three news stories this week. The first one is about a young poet in Scotland, Len Pennie, whom is raising a campaign to help remember folks who were executed during the Scotland Witch Trials. The second story gives us an idea of what and how the dinosaurs came to being extinct. Finally, Bob and the Count look at a mysterious hole that opened up on Mars.

Creepy Pasta Story Month is upon us, Children of the Night. This is the month were we celebrate all things internet spooky telling. Creepy Pastas are modern lore written by writers who have the foundations for creating stories that will last a long time and be the building blocks for paranormal stories in the future. Some of these leave you with the idea that this could be potentially true. Some are just stories. This week for kick off, we look at a infamous creepy past, Sonic.exe. The Dullahan is very much dangerous entity that is said to bring chaos wherever it goes.

Creepy Pasta Month is full affect! What could the topic be? Dolls...it just had to be dolls. Minus a certain Raggedy Ann doll, this particular subject is probably the most famous of all haunted dolls. Meet Robert. The sailor dressed doll who lives in a glass case in Key West Florida. Robert's origin is explained in this episode, and we look at his current wereabouts. Robert gets letters from all over the world, explaining that people are sorry for taking his photo without permission as bad luck as fallen onto them. Robert is an entity that deeply scares Bob, so we get to hear him squirm in this episode.
In the year 2012, the world became infatuated with a modern day mythology figure known as The Slender Man. A tall male humanoid, dawning a suit and tie, and having no face. Stories vary if he has tentacles coming from him or not. Regardless of the stories, Slender Man has one MO, his desire to stalk and devour children. During this time, a lot photo shopped images emerged of Slender at playgrounds stalking children. However scary he might be, he is created entirely in fiction. Slender Man was created in the Something Awful forums by one, Eric Knudsen, in the year 2009 during a create a new monster post. Little did Eric know that this creature would become a huge influence in pop cultural, spawning video games and movies.
In the year 1817, a family had run into some bad luck with some sort of entity. This entity was said to torment the daughter, kill the father, and come back every generation or so to torment the family. This family's last name was Bell, and this entity would be come to known as The Bell Witch. This is one of Bob's favorite paranormal stories of all time, and we look at what could have exactly went on at that farm. We get insight on what could have been a guardian demon, and even a familiar John Bell shot at. This gets so wild, that even a former president could have been involved.
The Bob After Dark team answers a challenge issued to them from their friends at the Ghostly Podcast. They were challenged to talk about an old Chicago legend, The Devil Baby of Hull House. Join them as they look at the facts of the story and try to learn the weird history of it. This was a major news frenzy story of its time. Word got out that there could be some sort of demon baby being harbored at the Hull House, and there was a constant barrage of news articles being written about it. This was one of the first time we see the paranormal making it into main news sources. We also tell a tale of what could have happened to the Baby, when a mysterious hooved and horned man danced the night away at a Bridgeport Dance hall and escaped into the night.

The Italian Bride. Live from the Southside Podfest. We had a blast at this festival, and had everyone there. The Italian Bride story is one of Chicago's most famous ghost stories. In short, The Bride is buried at Mt. Carmel cemetery. Upon her death, her mother was haunted by dreams saying that she was still alive and needed help. Getting permission to dig up the grave, the body was in no way in any state of decay. This is also the origin story of the Easter Island Massacre!

She is a mostly forgotten part of Christmas traditions past. Only to rediscovered by your rag-tag team of podcast hosts. This episode may not be the most suitable for our younger audiences.
In a far off place called Italy, they believe their gifts comes from a witch. Why a witch? In this episode, the boys are looking at La Befana. A witch, whom getting lost on her way to the birth of Christ, ended up staying where she was and handing out toys to the children. This episode is a tear jerker for Anthony. Whom, at one point, lived in Italy, and celebrated the coming of La Befana.

The St. Nick counterpart that punishes the naughty children of the world. In old times Germany? This was standard tradition. In recent years, this creature of lore became a pop cultural phenonium. Around the holidays, it is not hard to walk into a store and see Krampus merch. He even got his own movie. A friend of the show, Kael Star of KS Paranormal, calls in and shares historic beliefs. Kael is also a member of the Milwaukee Krampus, a costuming group who makes Krampus suits and dresses up to help raise money for charity and toy drives. Kael also tells us about a festival she helps put on called, "Milwaukee Krampus Nacht" a festival celebrating the Krampus on the eve before his trip.
Fear is an emotion that can drive us. Sometimes these fears can seem so trivial. Things like dolls, spiders, or even stairs. There can be deep rooted reasons why these fears exist. This week on Bob After Dark, we look at what scares the BAD team. We also get word from various of the fans to find out what scares them. Bob, as some of you know, if absolutely horrified by dolls. On this episode, we do unbox a doll with a mysterious origins, that was sent to Bob. He conquers his fears, and tries to figure out if this doll is indeed haunted.
Sometime during the Muromachi period in Ancient Japan (1336-1573) there was a poet by the name of Sōgi. He claimed that he saw a woman appear during a snow storm, and then just vanish into the snow fall. This was the written account of The Yuki-Onna. The Yuki-Onna is a type of Yōkai, or a Japanese classification of ghost, demon, or even cryptid. The Yuki-Onna is a female spirit whom has supernatural abilities. Some of which relate back to some of the Native Tribes in North America call The Wendigo. Those are the deer like creatures that are able to throw their voices, cause snow storms, and various other powers. The Yuki-Onna has similar. She waits for wandering hikers and lumberjacks. Causing the sound of a woman in distress, or even a baby crying. The Yuki-Onna then waits for said person to investigate only to cause insane snow storms, and freezes the unsuspecting victims alive.
