Catholic Forum began as a radio program in Wilmington, Delaware USA in 1939 making it the longest running Catholic discussion (non-liturgical) program in the United States. It is still on the air in the Diocese of Wilmington, but it is now available as a podcast. A new podcast debuts each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Eastern Time and includes an introductory reflection, the Gospel of the day, a musical selection and an interview.

WILK is a nonprofit organization that brings clean water, sanitation, hygiene, income generation and hope to the Massai communities in Southern Kenya. This year's winners - Nila Gopez, Carlos Kook, Greyson Pryslak, Lindsay Ewasko, and Ben Oliver, each receive a cash award in addition to presenting their essays on the Catholic Forum podcast.
Each year students in grades 5-8 in Catholic schools and parish religious education programs are invited to submit their essays on the importance or impact of vocations. On this edition of Catholic Forum, Sheila McGirl, Director of Development joins the show to discuss the 2026 Faith and Charity Catholic Appeal. 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the appeal being taken up in our diocese to support our community of faith in Delaware and Maryland's Eastern Shore! Sheila explains why giving to the appeal isn't transactional, every gift made to the appeal helps to strengthen and serve the people of the Diocese of Wilmington. Recently, it was announced that the Daughters of Charity are leaving ministry at the Cathedral of St. Peter. Happy New Year! On this episode of Catholic Forum, after a news update from The Dialog, we talk with Deacon Bill White from the Diocese of Rapid City, South Dakota. Deacon Bill is the diocesan posttulator for the cause for canonization of Nicholas Black Elk (1863 - 1950). Nicholas was an Oglala Lakota medicine man who fought with his cousin, Crazy Horse, at the Battle of Little Bighorn and survived the Wounded Knee Massacre. In the early 20th century, he converted to Catholicism and was baptized. For many years he served as a catechist to the Native People. He may be the first Native American man to be a canonized saint in the Catholic Church. We learn about him when Deacon Bill White is our guest today on Catholic Forum. About two-thirds of the way through the bishop's homily, we experienced a failure of the recording equipment, so Catholic Forum host, Bob Krebs, reads the conclusion of the homily from the text. Also, Father Rich Jasper (who never has recording equipment failure), will present another Modern Day Witness.
