We invite our friends because we love them and want them to know Christ. In Isaiah 39, we learned he did none of that when Babylon (the enemy) came knocking on his door. Hezekiah thought by showing the enemy around then he would have peace and security. Jesus teaches us to seek His Kingdom first. We are able to find true peace and security in Him only.

The great thing about our God is we don't have to be perfect and we don't have to live sinless lives for us to receive His love and grace! God will always pursue us, even when we aren't pursuing Him. The greatest things we can do is surrender our lives to God, fill the void left by sin with God, and show others the same love that God shows us. Whether we like to admit it or not, there is a hypocrite in all of us. The truth is hypocrites see hypocrites. The most hypocritical people in Jesus’ day were the religious leaders, but not all religious leaders are susceptible to hypocrisy. Ordinary people are also susceptible to hypocrisy’s deception and trickery. The biggest problem with being a hypocrite is a judgmental and critical heart. Jesus doesn’t call us to be hypo-critical, but hypo-compassionate. When we allow Jesus’ love to indwell us, we will become people who look out into the crowd, and instead of seeing a group of “sinners” or “failures,” we will have the eyes and heart of Jesus who see sheep without a shepherd.

There Will Be Pain by Pastor James Sabin
Jesus taught us that Hardship is unavoidable, but that it doesn’t have to be crushing. Pain is real, people often use it as an excuse to blame or not believe in God. In the moment, pain may seem unnecessary and cruel. Jesus wants to teach us that pain is not meaningless. God has allowed pain in this world to draw us to Himself. God has a plan and purpose for the trouble and hurt we experience. He is “for us”, even in our pain, and doesn’t want any hurt or hardship to be wasted, but used as a opportunity for growth and a deepening relationship with Him.

Since the beginning of time humanity has tried to keep a dark secret. There are clues of its existence everywhere, but we would rather not talk about it. We make excuses for its behavior. It’s the shadow we would like to ignore, but no matter how hard we try, it’s still there lurking, causing inward and outward conflict, and destruction wherever it is allowed to reign. We try and ignore it, and when ignoring it doesn’t work, we make excuses for it. When excuses fail we don’t give up so easy, we call it a mistake. We know it’s more than that; we know it’s sin; and we know something has to be done. But what? God’s word will show us the way.

Most of us are unaware of our fallen natures. Because of this, we overestimate our own goodness. Jesus helps us to see ourselves as we really are in relation to His goodness.
