Key takeaways include the recognition that the enemy has no power over Jesus and that responding in fleshly ways leads to detrimental outcomes. Pastor Daniel emphasizes the essential role of the church within Christian doctrine, challenging the notion of a "churchless Christianity" as a contradiction, likening it to Christ without a body. Drawing from the Creed, he highlights the church's significance, not as a mere physical location, but as a collective body of believers.
Despite differences among denominations, the sermon emphasizes the unity of the church as one body, underscored by biblical references such as Ephesians 4:4-6. It addresses misconceptions regarding the term "catholic," affirming its universal relevance rather than sectarian affiliation.
Furthermore, it delves into the church's holiness, rooted in Christ's sanctification rather than human perfectionism, and underscores believers' identity as saints consecrated by God.
Moreover, the message stresses the importance of community within the church, viewing believers as part of a vast network spanning time and space, united in faith and purpose. It encourages believers to find strength and support within this community, especially amidst challenges and opposition in the secular world.
Ultimately, the sermon calls for a profound appreciation of the church's significance beyond personal fulfillment, recognizing it as a divine institution instrumental in advancing God's purposes and fostering spiritual growth and unity among believers.

The sermon, delivered by Pastor Daniel, challenges prevailing notions of cultural differences, suggesting a nuanced understanding beyond mere independence and interdependence. It reflects on Western culture's emphasis on self-expression and societal shifts over time. Drawing from personal experiences as an Uber driver, Pastor Daniel notes the prevalence of self-expression and its implications for societal norms.
Transitioning to a biblical perspective, the sermon centers on Proverbs 6's teachings on correction and instruction. Pastor Daniel contrasts societal values with the enduring truths found in God's word, warning against prioritizing self-expression over heeding divine guidance. Emphasis is placed on the Holy Spirit's role in guiding believers, correcting them, and empowering them to live according to God's will amidst shifting cultural values.
In conclusion, Pastor Daniel calls for a reaffirmation of faith in the Holy Spirit and a commitment to living out one's beliefs in a world where cultural norms may change but God's truth remains constant. He urges believers to anchor themselves in God's unchanging wisdom and to seek His guidance in navigating the complexities of modern life, finding value in humility, obedience, and reliance on the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is coming to judge the living and the dead.
The sermon centers on Parousia, the second coming of Jesus, emphasizing the belief in his return for heavenly justice. It cites John 5:25-29 and highlights Jesus' authority as the Son of Man to judge the living and the dead. The Apostles' Creed and the metaphor of a wedding feast symbolize the end of the world and divine intimacy.
Challenges related to end times interpretations are discussed, emphasizing the unique Christian story. The need for spiritual rebirth is stressed using John 3:3-18, and the first and second comings of Jesus are contrasted. The Lausanne Covenant underscores the significance of Jesus' return in Christian faith.
The sermon concludes with practical implications, urging believers to evangelize, endure trials, and encourage one another. Communion is presented as a symbolic reminder of the anticipated feast upon the Lord's return.

The sermon focuses on the Christ-Centered Perspective provided specifically the statement of the Apostles' Creed - "He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father." Pastor Daniel emphasizes the importance of perspective in shaping beliefs and actions, highlighting the danger of having a limited or misguided viewpoint.
The ascension of Jesus is discussed, acknowledging that it may have initially left the disciples feeling abandoned. However, the Christ-centered perspective assures believers that Jesus will never abandon them and has empowered them with the Holy Spirit. The application of this promise is emphasized, especially in times of life's challenges, grief, or failure.
The sermon contrasts the temporary nature of this world with the eternal promise of a Christ-centered perspective. Believers are encouraged to find purpose, value, and fulfillment in the Lord rather than seeking them from the world. The tension of being committed to serving the world while recognizing it is not the ultimate home is explored.
The message concludes by highlighting the hope Christians have in bringing peace, hope, and love into their lives and the lives of others, all empowered by the Holy Spirit. The supreme authority of Jesus, seated at the right hand of God, is emphasized as a source of hope, reminding believers of their eternal victory over sin and death.
The importance of maintaining a Christ-centered perspective, focusing on the things above, is stressed as believers navigate the challenges of life. The sermon ends with an encouragement to look up to Jesus, who intercedes for believers and empowers them to live with a perspective that acknowledges Jesus as King.

The sermon, delivered by Pastor Daniel, delves into the theme of overcoming fear and the significance of Jesus' descent to the dead and resurrection. Fear often hinders personal growth, and Pastor Daniel emphasizes that conquering it allows for a more authentic and satisfying life. He highlights that conquering fear doesn't mean all problems are solved, but it eradicates inner turmoil.
Pastor Daniel then transitions to a discussion of the creeds, focusing on the phrase "He descended to the dead" from the Apostle's Creed. He clarifies the meaning, emphasizing Jesus' genuine death and descent into Hades, not Gehenna. The significance lies in Jesus going ahead of believers, providing assurance in facing death without fear of solitude.
Addressing potential objections, Pastor Daniel refutes the swoon theory, emphasizing the physical death and resurrection of Jesus. The narrative from Matthew 27:32-28:10 is presented to highlight the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
The conclusion, presented by Pastor Daniel, connects the Easter story to Ephesians 2:1-7 and 1 Corinthians 15:42-55, emphasizing the forgiveness of sins through Christ's sacrifice and the hope of resurrection. Pastor Daniel concludes with a powerful statement about the knowledge that all sins were in the future when Jesus died on the cross, highlighting God's unconditional love and sacrifice for humanity.

In this powerful sermon titled "Why Does God Allow Suffering?" Pastor Daniel delves into the profound question that has puzzled humanity for ages. The sermon begins by acknowledging the historical atrocities of the 20th century, particularly during World War 1 and the Holocaust, leading to the emergence of Protest Atheism—a movement that protested against a seemingly indifferent God in the face of immense human suffering.
The sermon centers around an exploration of the Apostles' Creed, focusing on the section that states, "(Jesus) suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried." Pastor Daniel provides historical context, emphasizing that Jesus' suffering was not a mere story but a specific event anchored in real historical time.
The crucifixion of Jesus is described as the most barbaric moment in history, emphasizing its historical and spiritual significance. The narrative highlights Jesus' choice to lay down his life for the sins of the world, showcasing God's deliberate engagement with human history. Pontius Pilate's role is underscored as representative of the world's rejection of Jesus, implicating humanity as a whole in the crucifixion.
The gruesome details of Jesus' crucifixion are vividly portrayed, drawing parallels to contemporary Roman practices. The sermon contrasts the public's reaction to Jesus' crucifixion with modern events, using the example of Osama Bin Laden's death to illustrate the shame associated with crucifixion.
The sermon further explores the meaning of Jesus' death, emphasizing its purpose in paying for humanity's sins. The burial of Jesus is recounted, providing certainty of his death, and Pastor Daniel concludes by linking the suffering of Jesus to the broader concept of salvation.
In a final statement, Pastor Daniel asserts belief in Jesus Christ as the one who endured the most barbaric moment in history, bringing salvation to the world. The audience is encouraged to reflect on their relationship with Jesus, posing the question of whether he is their Lord and expressing the transformative power of Jesus' sacrifice. The sermon leaves the congregation with a sense of awe and gratitude for the profound act of salvation accomplished through Jesus' suffering.

In this week's sermon, Pastor Daniel uses the metaphor of a vast and turbulent ocean to depict the challenges, sins, and difficulties of life, with Jesus being the unwavering lifeboat symbolizing salvation, forgiveness, and eternal life.
The focus shifts to the historical context of the Apostles' Creed, emphasizing its role in summarizing essential truths contributed by each Apostle. Pastor Daniel delves into the significance of Jesus being both fully divine and fully human, drawing on biblical passages such as Matthew 1:18-25 and Galatians 4:4.
The dual nature of Jesus is portrayed as crucial for understanding and achieving redemption. The sermon further explores the idea that Jesus, as both God and human, serves as a mediator, understanding and healing humanity.
The power over sin through faith in Jesus is emphasized, encouraging believers to walk by the Spirit and love their neighbors, recognizing their freedom from sin.
Pastor Daniel concludes by urging listeners to reject doubts, embrace God's truth, and submit to the Holy Spirit, emphasizing the unique and exclusive role of Jesus in salvation.

Jesus alone has the power to bring healing to a hostile world. This week we look at the words of the Apostles' Creed which read, "I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord."
From this short sentence, we are able to see that Jesus is the Messiah, he is God, and he is in the place of authority as Lord. These are distinct beliefs of the Christian faith and help us understand with clarity who Jesus is.
We encourage you to memorize the Apostles' Creed in order to help strengthen your faith and always have an answer to others in what you believe.

The first four words of The Apostles' Creed immediately forge a wedge between our confession of faith in God and the world's denial of God's existence. "I Believe" is a statement of trusting in God, placing your confidence in, and allegiance to, God.
God is the source of all life, he is powerful and personal, and he is sovereign over all creation. We see all of this in this week's section of the creed which reads, "I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth."
We encourage you to memorize the creed and make it part of your devotional life. You'll be well-rounded in your faith and always be ready to share with others what you believe in.

When Jesus said "Repent and believe in the gospel," he meant for that belief to be more than simply agreeing with the truth. The word believe means to place confidence in, or trust in, the good news.
This new series leads us to explore The Apostles' Creed for a few weeks in order to build out a rounded, grounded faith in Jesus as Lord. Today's message reminds us that believing in Jesus changes us.
We are changed as we come into agreement with God and other followers, trust Jesus as Lord, commit to Jesus fully, and walk in obedience to him.
Join us as we learn this creed and use it to draw closer to Jesus. Below is the creed we are using.
THE APOSTLES' CREED
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy *catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

We are freed by Jesus in order to help others through serving. We are only able to do this because of what Jesus has done for us. Galatians 5:13-15 and John 13:12-17 are the key passages of today's sermon.

The Spirit of God is life-giving, life-transforming, and life-renewing.
Adam was created and given life by the breath of God. Ezekiel 37 gives us the transforming work of the Spirit, and Jesus breathed on the disciples telling them to receive the Spirit.
God has instilled his breath in us and comforts us with his very presence.

Some moments in life define you. The day you were born, moving, marriage, losing a loved one, or having a child are just a few. Moses had a defining moment with a burning shrub in the desert. Seeing a bush on fire was common, but what was uncommon was that it refused to disintegrate like a normal bush would.
God got Moses' attention that day. What does God have to do to get your attention today? God will give you defining moments in his place, for his people, for his purposes, according to his plan. The ultimate defining moment is what Jesus did for the world by sacrificing his own life so we could have life eternal.

When you come to faith in Jesus you are born again. God's Holy Spirit lives with you so that you have the DNA of Almighty God within you.
And this is the God who spoke the world into existence, created the universe, and all the stars in the sky. He is all-powerful. And the one true God loves you!
Romans 8:37-39
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Today we want to speak this truth over our lives. “I AM LOVED.” Sometimes we will say this while believing it, and other times we will need to say it IN ORDER TO believe it.

If you say "I am blessed" only when things are going well in your life, then you're missing the power of knowing you are blessed no matter the circumstances of life. You are blessed because of who Jesus is and what he says about you.

Praise God! A new year is here, but a new date on the calendar does not guarantee better circumstances in our world. 2021 is not something we can control, but we can trust that God has the world in his hands.
Prayer empowers us to flourish no matter the circumstances as it fills us with the presence of God's Spirit. Today's sermon encourages us to allow the Lord's Prayer to guide our prayers, since our prayers are the lifeblood of our faith.
THE LORD's PRAYER
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever.
Amen!

If you think 2020 has been rough, then you're exactly right. In some ways this year is unprecedented. But one thing we can count on is that God is awakening our world to the sins that have been hiding under the surface. It's not just the sin "out there" in the world, but it is also the sin hiding in the dark crevices of our hearts.
Pastor Daniel talks about finding joy in the midst of the pandemic, economic crash, and heightened awareness of racial injustices. Where do you look for joy? What do you think you need in order to be joyful? The answer is Jesus, but thankfully the answer is even more specific than this. Jesus tells us in Luke 10.

Listening to Our Lord Jesus in Prayer | Living Out My Purpose
There's no point in learning about God if you're not going to put what you learn into action. Faith in Jesus isn't a school project where you learn facts, take a test, and get a grade. Faith is action. Faith is personal. Faith is obedience to God's commands to (1) love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to (2) love your neighbor as yourself!
Angela and Pastor Daniel discuss racial biases and tensions, and also what #saymyname means. As a church, we must live out our faith in a broken world in a way that acknowledges the brokenness AND leads people to trust in the promises of God that say reconciliation is on its way.
Pastor Daniel encourages us to take 10 minutes each day this week to be silent with God... to be alone with him and let him be the sole focus of our attention. With so many voices speaking in the world, it is imperative for the followers of Jesus to designate the voice of God as the primary one we are listening to. Prayer is not confined to us talking to God, but God reveals himself to us through prayer, Scripture, and the Spirit of God.

Sharing your testimony is one of the most powerful and effective things you can do as a Christian. It encourages fellow Christians to hear it, and it gives non-Christians a story to help them understand the good news (gospel) of Jesus and how they can also trust him as Lord.
Many people feel like their testimony is not as good as others, but each testimony is different, powerful, personal, and miraculous. Today's sermon shares 3 truths for all people regarding our need for Jesus, and we also hear from 3 different people as they share the story of how they came to faith in Jesus.
Connection Church is starting a new sermon series called, "Living Out My Purpose." Our purpose statement is "Connection People to Jesus and One Another." For 8 weeks we are going to focus on how we can live this out in our lives. We hope today encourages you to be ready to share your testimony!

When you feel like proving yourself, setting someone straight, or putting people in their place then it's the perfect time to look to Jesus! He has the power to put us in our place, but instead he uses his power to bring us to his place - to lift us up and to serve us! He laid down his life for our good and his glory. Allow the gospel to soothe your soul so that you can serve others as Jesus did!
