Rec.

On this episode we are joined by Jaume Balagueró & Paco Plaza. Jaume and Paco are directors of the movie Rec.

Rec (stylized as [•REC]) is a Spanish supernatural zombie horror film franchise. The original 2007 film was shot in Barcelona, Spain and the title is an abbreviation of the word "record", as it appears on a video camera.

Rec was followed by three sequels; Rec 2 in 2009, Rec 3: Genesis in 2012, and Rec 4: Apocalypse in 2014 as the final installment in the franchise.[2] Spanish company Filmax is responsible for the production of the REC franchise and released all four installments.

The first film was remade in the United States as the 2008 film Quarantine.[7] Quarantine 2: Terminal was released in 2011. Although the sequel's plot picks up directly from where Quarantine leaves off, it is not a remake of Rec 2. Quarantine 2: Terminal takes the series in a completely different direction with its own rules and mythology different from those of the Rec series.

Sleepless.

On this episode we are joined by Josh Mckeown from the band Palm Reader. Palm Reader in 2020 are almost unrecognisable from the savage, technical hydra that used to regularly see them described as the UK’s answer to The Dillinger Escape Plan. At this point, they use their brutal hardcore roots merely as a starting point; songs like ‘Ending Cycle’, ‘False Thirst’ and ‘A Bird and It’s Feathers’ are a conglomerate of disparate styles, the sort of compositions that can only be written with years of battle-hardened experience. They are songs that define a band not by constrictive genre boundaries but distinctive characteristics that mark them out as individual from their contemporaries. With ‘Sleepless’, Palm Reader are firmly establishing their own unique sense of identity.

King of Clubs.

On this episode we speak to Jamie Lenman. Formerly the frontman and principal songwriter for British alt-rockers Reuben, singer, guitarist, and illustrator Jamie Lenman launched a solo career after the band went on indefinite hiatus.
Lenman returned to illustrating, but continued to compose sporadically, and in 2014 decided to complete his unfinished song ideas with the help of a friend. The result was his debut solo album, Muscle Memory, which had a much broader stylistic range than his work with , incorporating jazz and folk elements. His second solo effort, Devolver, followed in 2017.

2019 saw Lenman team up with producer Space who had recorded Devolver to work on a collection of covers. Shuffle, which was issued that year, saw Lenman taking on not just a selection of his favorite songs by other artists, but an eclectic mix of spoken word pieces from novels, movie soundtracks, and video game music as well. 2020 saw Lenman returning to his songwriting roots with the release of the mini-album King of Clubs.

In 2010 Sam was the recipient of the award for New Zealand’s “Young Filmmaker of the Year”, the leading award in NZ recognising emerging film talent.

In 2012 Sam made the short film Lambs based on research on the lives of at-risk youth in New Zealand.
Lambs received official selection at many prestigious international film festivals and won the Jury Prize and Audience Award at the New Zealand International Film Festival, Best Director at Show Me Shorts, the Young Jury Prize at Sequence (Toulouse), and Runner Up at One Lens (Hollywood). The film provided the launch pad for the development of the screenplay for his debut feature film Savage

Silverstein are a Canadian rock band from Burlington, Ontario, formed in 2000. Their band name is a reference to the famous children's author Shel Silverstein, whom the band had admired and read the stories of as children. They have released a total of ten studio albums, four EPs, a compilation album and a live DVD/CD.
The band achieved moderate success with their second studio album, Discovering the Waterfront, which was nominated for a Juno Award and reached No. 34 on the Billboard 200 charts, with the following two albums charting at similar positions. Silverstein has sold over 1,000,000 albums worldwide.

The band left long-time record label Victory Records in 2010. Following a period with Hopeless Records and another with Rise Records, they are now signed to UNFD. They released their 10th studio album, A Beautiful Place to Drown, in March 2020

She is author of “A Wished-for Song, Portrait of Jeff Buckley” and has recently completed her second book “25 Years of Grace”, a project commissioned by Rowman and Littlefield. For both books, she created the photos, conducted interviews, and executed the graphic design as well. Her photography is represented by Morrison Hotel Gallery in New York City and Los Angeles.

On this episode we speak to William DuVall. William DuVall is an American musician, best known as the current co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the rock band Alice in Chains. DuVall has recorded three albums with the band, 2009's Black Gives Way to Blue, 2013's The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, and 2018's Rainier Fog.

DuVall is also co-founder, lead singer, guitarist and lyricist for Comes with the Fall. Since 2016, DuVall is the lead vocalist for the supergroup Giraffe Tongue Orchestra. In his long musical career, DuVall has played a role in many bands playing in a variety of genres, an example being the influential punk rock group Neon Christ.

On this episode we speak to Emmy Nominated and Award winning Film, Commercial & Music Video Director / Producer / Editor Ian McFarland. Having started his career as a professionally touring musician and then a film editor, Ian brings a particular understanding of structure, music, pacing and emotion to his projects. The film has been on the festival circuit since November 2017 where is premiered at the DOCNYC 2017 Film Festival. Since then it has gathered momentum screening and winning awards at multiple well known film festivals as well as receiving press / reviews from major publications like Rolling Stone and UPROXX.

On this episode we speak to Cody Carpenter. Cody Carpenter is a third generation musician. His father, John Carpenter, is a director and composer and his mother, Adrienne Barbeau, is a star of film, television and the Broadway stage. His grandfather, Howard Carpenter, was a founding member of the Nashville Strings.

Cody was introduced to his first musical instrument around the age of three and has been playing and composing original music since. His most notable composing works include Cigarette Burns and Pro-Life in Showtime'sMasters of Horror (2005) movie series. In 2018, Cody joined his father and Daniel Davies in scoring the reboot ofHalloween.

Cody co-wrote, co-produced, and performed on the acclaimed Lost Themes (2015) and Lost Themes II (2016) with his father and Daniel Davies. From 2016-2018, Cody toured North America and Europe with his father and a 6 piece band, performing material from both Lost Themes albums and his father's films.

From 2012 to 2017, Cody released five instrumental progressive rock albums and one synthwave vocal album exclusively on Bandcamp. January of 2018 saw the release of Cody's first non-Bandcamp exclusive album entitledCody Carpenter's Interdependence, featuring a host of guest musicians such as Jimmy Haslip and Virgil Donati.

In the spring of 2018, Cody, working with composer Mark Day, released Shadow Spirits Vol. 1, a chiptune video game soundtrack to a game that never was. In the summer of 2018, Cody released his first album under the moniker Ludrium, his vocal synth-pop alter ego, titled Reflections.

Casually Dressed & Deep In Conversation.

On this episode we speak to Funeral For A Friend singer Matthew Davies-Kreye. Funeral for a Friend were a Welsh post-hardcore band from Bridgend, formed in 2001.

Funeral for a Friend's popularity rose in the United Kingdom with the release of their debut album, Casually Dressed & Deep in Conversation. Achieving both a gold certification and three top twenty singles in their home country, Casually Dressed & Deep in Conversation is often acclaimed as one of the landmark emo records of the 2000s. Hours featured a similar musical style to their debut, but also featured more melodic sensibilities, and Tales Don't Tell Themselves showed an evolution in Funeral for a Friend's musical style from the style which defined their debut, as the group began to diverge from their use of screaming vocals and post-hardcore influenced guitars, favouring a more melodic rock influence.

Funeral for a Friend self-released their fourth album, Memory and Humanity through their short-lived record label Join Us, the album arguably being their most eclectic to date. Following this the band tied themselves to other independent labels for Welcome Home Armageddon, Conduit, and Chapter and Verse, which showed the band returning to the more metal and hardcore influenced style of their earlier work. In September 2015 they announced their break-up and final tour in 2016.

Marilyn Ghigliotti comes from a Puerto Rican family background born in New York to Jeronimo and Luisa Ghigliotti and and raised in NY, Long Island and New Jersey. This Jersey New Yorican had to learn to survive many moves and many changes in surrounding cultures.

Marilyn got started late when it comes to acting, while going through life changes and decided to at least start to study acting at the Actors Training Institute in Red Bank New Jersey with John Eyd, a member of the Actors Studio in New York, where he brought those same techniques to New Jersey.

After studying for about 2 years, Marilyn then felt confident enough to start auditioning in the community theater circuit in Southern New Jersey, appearing in many classic plays. Being a middle child and after appearing in her first production and standing on that stage where people were actually listening to her words instead of being ignored as most middle children feel, she was hooked. During one of these many plays, is also where she met Brian before the two auditioned and landed their parts in Kevin Smith's Clerks.

Since moving to LA, Marilyn has worked as a freelance hair and makeup artist as well as keeping busy working both in front and behind the camera with hair and makeup, producing, and anywhere help was needed.

On this episode we speak to British screenwriter and film director Stewart Raffill.

Raffill made his feature debut as director with The Tender Warrior (1971), starring Dan Haggerty. Raffill also helped write and produce, and handle animals. It was shot at the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia. Raffill sold it to Warner Bros, was unhappy with what they did with it, bought it back, and re-distributed it.

His second script was Napoleon and Samantha, which he sold to Disney. Raffill also worked on the film, which starred Jodie Foster and Michael Douglas, as a producer and animal supervisor.

He wrote and directed When the North Wind Blows. He shot animal footage for the documentary Wonder of It All.

Raffill directed and wrote Mac and Me, made to provide royalties to the McDonald's Foundation and to have a lead with spina bifida, which became a cult favorite and won Raffill a Golden Razzie for Worst Director

All That Divides.

On this episode we speak to the singer of the band Black Peaks, Will Gardner.

The band formed in 2012, initially under the name Shrine, and released a debut self-released EP Closer to the Sun in 2014. After a run of UK and European festivals and tours, the band signed to Sony for the release of their debut album Statues in 2016.

The album was well received, and singles 'Glass Built Castles' and 'Saviour' brought the band support from Zane Lowe,Daniel P. Carter and daytime airplay on BBC Radio 1.

This increased profile resulted in a busy touring schedule across 2016-2017, including dates supporting Deftones, System of a Down, The Dillinger Escape Plan,Prophets of Rage and Mastodon.

Towards the end of 2017, the band announced that they had parted ways with bassist Andrew Gosden, replaced with new member Dave Larkin and were currently in the studio recording their second album, titled All That Divides. All That Divides was released in October 2018 and met with critical acclaim.

Bill and Erin discuss the movie “Book Club,” the Diane Keaton and Jane Fonda-starring romantic comedy that marks his directorial debut. It’s the story of four longtime friends who decide to tackle the E.L. James novel for their monthly, you guessed it, book club. Keaton and Fonda are joined by Mary Steenburgen and Candice Bergen, each playing a woman who is in some way inspired to change her life as she digs into the titillating trilogy.

Holderman, who co-wrote the screenplay with Erin Simms, wanted to make a movie in which “women of a certain age” are given rich character arcs, in which they can exist as romantic and sexual beings, in which they can learn and grow and change. He wanted to write them as complex, and in short, treat them with respect—and it all started with the “Fifty Shades” books, a Mother’s Day gift, and those long drives in Georgia.

Erin Simms was born and raised in Montreal. She went to St. George's high school that specializes in the arts. After learning acting for a couple of years she landed a small part in her first movie and then landed the part of Morgan on Student Bodies. She left the show to be on the Power Rangers. Palms.

On this episode we speak to musician and songwriter Dustin Kensrue. He is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist in the rock band Thrice

At the end of summer 2017, not long after Thrice had finished up a national tour, singer Dustin Kensrue woke up in the middle of the night and found himself fixated on the mental image of an open hand—a visual that instantly became his touchstone in the writing of Thrice’s tenth album, Palms.

In the spirit of that openness, Thrice created Palms with a free-form and fluid approach to the album’s sonic element. The result is their most expansive work to date, encompassing everything from viscerally charged post-hardcore to piano-driven balladry. To carve out that eclectic sound, Thrice enlisted trusted producer Eric Palmquist for the recording of the percussion and vocal tracks, and self-produced all of the guitar parts on Palms.

Much like its predecessor—2016’s politically minded To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere—Palms mines a great deal of inspiration from the literary and philosophical realm. In his lyric-writing, Kensrue drew from sources as varied as the lectures of philosopher Alan Watts, the writings of Franciscan friar Richard Rohr, and the process metaphysics of mathematician Alfred North Whitehead.

Thrice’s first release since signing to Epitaph in early 2018, Palms matches its raw passion with a measured intensity, a rare feat for an album so informed by the volatility of the times. Within that approach, Thrice reveal their profound commitment to making an enduring impact on the listener.

The first major role Suplee landed was as Willam in Mallrats, directed by Kevin Smith, alongside future My Name is Earlcostar Jason Lee. He also appeared briefly in the independent Kevin Smith View-Askew produced Drawing Flies. Smith cast both Suplee and Lee again in later films Chasing Amy and Dogma. They both make cameos in Clerks II. At the same time as the filming of Mallrats, Suplee also had a recurring role as Frankie "The Enforcer" Stechino in Boy Meets World, from 1994 to 1998. Suplee's dramatic performances include the roles of the ruthless Nazi skinhead Seth in American History X, a man who rapes a clown in Vulgar, Ashton Kutcher's goth college roommate "Thumper" in The Butterfly Effect, football player Louie Lastik in 1970s Virginia in Remember the Titans (a direct opposite on his racial views from his American History Xrole), Johnny Depp's buddy and initial drug-dealing partner Tuna in Blow, and the simpleminded Pangle in Cold Mountain. Suplee also had a cameo in the HBO TV series Entourage in the fictional movie Queens Boulevard. In 2014, he was cast in the TV Land original sitcom Jennifer Falls, which reunited him with My Name Is Earlco-star, Jamie Pressly.

In 2016, he started playing D in Hulu's series Chance.

New Noise.

On this episode we speak to Dennis Lyxzén the musician best known as the lead vocalist for Swedish hardcore punk band Refused. He is currently the vocalist in INVSN.

Aside from Refused, he has been involved in numerous Swedish bands during his musical career, acting as vocalist, bass player, or guitar player. Since the break-up of Refused, his most notable bands have been The (International) Noise Conspiracy and Invasionen (Previously called The Lost Patrol Band). Lyxzén also runs Ny Våg, a punk record label. He acted as producer of the 2005 self-titled album by Swedish punk band Regulations, which was released on the label.

As a punk rock frontman, Lyxzén's songs are of a counter-culture nature, within line of his socialist political views. Despite his political views, he tends to maintain a level of lyrical variety throughout his various bands. Lyxzén was voted sexiest man in Sweden in 2004 by Elle Magazine and is also vegan.

In 2011, Lyxzén joined The Bloody Beetroots for their Church of Noise tour as a guest vocalist. Lyxzén is also featured in their newest single, "Church of Noise", and the accompanying music video.

In 2012 it was announced that Refused would reunite for Coachella, Way Out West Festival and Fun Fun Fun Fest 2012. They went on to headline Groezrock 2012 in Meerhout, Belgium.

Although Refused stated in 2012 that their reunion was only temporary, in 2015 they released their fourth studio album Freedom. Refused have continued to tour to promote Freedom. Dennis has stated that Refused will continue as an active band, "We’re not breaking up or anything, we’re taking a break to write a new record…

A Quiet Place.

On this episode we speak to English actor, Noah Jupe.

Noah is known for starring in the television series The Night Manager, the dark comedy film Suburbicon, the drama film Wonder, and the horror film A Quiet Place. He made his feature film acting debut in 2017 with the war drama film The Man with the Iron Heart.

Noah started his acting career in 2015/2016 by a little appearances in the television series Penny Dreadful and Downton Abbey. Later in 2016, he played a significant role in the spy thriller series The Night Manager along with Tom Hiddleston. In 2016, he also played a significant role in the series Houdini & Doyle.

In 2017, he started his career in films, with his first major role being in The Man with the Iron Heart, a World War II drama, in which he starred along with Jason Clarke and Rosamund Pike. Also that year, he appeared in the British film That Good Night, with John Hurt and Charles Dance had one of the lead roles, the son of Matt Damon's character, in the black comedy film, Suburbicon, directed by George Clooney and appeared in the comedy-drama Wonder as Jack Will, best friend to Auggie Pullman (played by Jacob Tremblay).

In 2018, he starred with Sam Worthington and Tom Wilkinson in science fiction film The Titan and alongside Emily Blunt and John Krasinski in the well-reviewed horror film A Quiet Place. Krasinski, who cowrote and directed the film, cast Jupe on the recommendation of Clooney.

Jupe will next star in the short film adaptation of Stephen King's "My Pretty Pony" along with Tobin Bell.

He will also star in the film Honey Boy opposite Shia LaBeouf and Lucas Hedges, an independent film based on LaBeouf's life. Jupe will play LaBeouf in his childhood

Gordan's Alive.

On this episode we speak to English actor, writer, presenter, and comedian Brian Blessed.

Boisterous British actor Brian Blessed is known for his hearty, king-sized portrayals on film and television. A giant of a man accompanied by an eloquent wit and booming, operatic voice, Brian was born in 1936 and grew up in the mining village of Goldthorpe in South Yorkshire. His father was a miner who wanted a better life for his son; Brian lost three uncles in the pit. At a young age, he displayed an acute talent for acting in school productions, but also had a penchant for boxing, a direction that would be short-lived.

Working various blue-collar jobs from undertaker's assistant to plasterer, Brian managed to attend the Bristol Old Vic and was off and running. He has lent his musical talents to several productions - from playing "Old Deuteronomy" in "Cats" to "The Baron" in the more recent "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". In the 1970s, he began appearing more and more on-camera with both classical and contemporary performances. In costumed television movies, he has played "Porthos" in The Three Musketeers (1966) and The Further Adventures of the Musketeers (1967), "Augustus" in I, Claudius (1976), and "Long John Silver" in John Silver's Return to Treasure Island (1986) and has been a part of various reenactments including Catherine the Great (1996), Lady Chatterley (1993), The Hound of the Baskervilles (1983) and Kidnapped (1995).

On film, he has appeared in robust support in several William Shakespeare adaptations, including Henry V (1989), Much Ado About Nothing (1993), Hamlet (1996) and Macbeth(1997). He is married to British actress Hildegard Neil, who made an appearance with him in Macbeth (1997). More recently, he appeared in Oliver Stone's epic-scale Alexander(2004) and in Kenneth Branagh's film version of William Shakespeare's As You Like It(2006).

Originally a gymnast and dancer, he began his career as an actor in 1996. He rose to fame in Denmark as Tonny the drug dealer in the first two films of the Pusher film trilogy, and in his role as the brash yet sensitive policeman, Allan Fischer, in Peter Thorsboe's Danish television series Rejseholdet (Unit One)

Mikkelsen became more widely known for his role as Tristan in Jerry Bruckheimer's production King Arthur, but achieved worldwide recognition for playing the main antagonist Le Chiffre in the twenty-first James Bond film, Casino Royale. He has since become known for his roles as Igor Stravinsky in Jan Kounen's French film Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky and his Cannes Film Festival Best Actor Award-winning role as Lucas in the 2012 Danish film The Hunt. In 2012, he was voted the Danish American Society's Person of the Year. He starred in the television series Hannibal as Dr. Hannibal Lecter. In 2016, Mikkelsen portrayed Kaecilius in Marvel's film Doctor Strange and Galen Erso in Lucasfilm's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. In 2018, he starred in Joe Penna's survival drama Arctic. Mikkelsen is set to portray Mayor Prentiss in Doug Liman's Chaos Walking and Duncan Vizla in Polar by Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund.

Mikkelsen will star alongside Norman Reedus in game director Hideo Kojima's upcoming title Death Stranding, portraying the main antagonist via voice acting and motion capture.

I can Climb Mountains.

On this episode we speak to Hell is for Heroes frontman Justin Schlosberg.

Hell Is for Heroes are an English post-hardcore band from London. Founder members Will McGonagle and Joe Birch (previously of Symposium) were joined by James Findlay, Tom O'Donoghue and later Justin Schlosberg.

After two independently released singles, Hell Is for Heroes released their debut album in February 2003 on EMI. The Neon Handshake was produced and recorded in Los Angeles at Sound City Studios and mixed in Umeå, Sweden at Tonteknik by Pelle Henricsson and Eskil Lövström. The band and their A&R left EMI in 2004. The band released its second album Transmit Disrupt independently, before signing a deal with Burning Heart Records, who subsequently re-released it in 2006. Their final self-titled album was released through Golf Records in 2007.

On the 15th of August 2017 the band announced through their Facebook page that they would be touring the U.K. as part of The Neon Handshake's 15th anniversary.

He was a founding member of the Music Managers' Forum and has lectured in music business at William Patterson University and New York University. For the first time since Jeff Buckley's untimely death on May 29, 1997, his manager Dave Lory reveals what it was like to work with one of rock's most celebrated and influential artists. Go on the road and behind the scenes with Jeff, from the release of his debut EP Live at Sin-é to the second album Buckley never completed.

On this episode we talk to Jamie Lenman, best known as the singer, guitarist and songwriter for underground heroes Reuben. Reuben released two albums with Xtra Mile and joined bands like Biffy Clyro, Fightstar and Billy Talent on tours around the UK and Europe. Upon their return, they founded their own label, Hideous Records, through which they released a live DVD documentary and their third, critically acclaimed album, ‘In Nothing We Trust’. In 2011, after over a year without playing any music, Lenman began working on an ambitious double solo album of folk/blues and thrash metal, which was released in 2013 to critical acclaim. After a dazzling live tour featuring a three-piece brass section, Lenman returned again to his illustration work and began recording new music with Prodigy and Idles producer Space in his Guildford hideout. He shortly signed with indie giants Big Scary Monsters and released his sophomore record 'Devolver' to widespread critical acclaim, following a lengthy and innovative pre-order campaign.

Prey at Night.
