In developing basketball-the-remix, I attempted to remove all barriers that prevent consistent and sustained gameplay with the minimal unnecessary stoppage. The innovation of “roaming” makes the placement of the ball, not the player the determination of a dead or live ball.

When I was a teenager, my friends and I would go up to the local elementary school and play dunk-ball.   The court was a smaller court with shorter baskets. The games were competitive, intense, and fun.  Because the games were played on a much smaller court we never played 5 on 5.

The fact that basketball-the-remix is played without timeouts and is played at a faster pace than traditional basketball created a problem that required another innovation to solve.  How to substitute players when they get tired and you cannot wait for the next dead ball?  To address this issue I created the “running substitution” and the “running substitution box”
