God’s love for us has been clearly manifested through the action of sending Jesus Christ to be born in the flesh. The how of Christ is the birth of Christ. Selfishness has no place in marriage, so stop being selfish.
We have only one word of advice for you: it is time to get down from that high horse and do what is not only right for you, but for your marriage and overall quality of life.
Marriage comes with some responsibilities, including having sex with each other, managing your money well, and taking care of your health. Therefore, you cannot choose food and a sedentary lifestyle over fulfilling this crucial aspect of your marriage.
Therefore, choose what you are willing to die for: your marriage, or junk food and lack of exercise?
As dramatic as this may sound, this is a decision you have to make on a daily basis. When you get up each day, you have to choose whether to go out and exercise for your marriage.
Each time you are tempted to drink some sugary drink, you have to choose water and your marriage, or the can of soda.
You may be screaming out now that you will never sacrifice your marriage on the altar of food and drink and a sedentary lifestyle. But actions speak louder than words. What you do at the end of the day reveals what truly matters to you, and it determines the outcome you get.
Are you going to continue the path of poor health, impotence, and erectile dysfunction, or will you get on the path of good health and exercise?
When you get on this path of regular exercise and healthy eating, there is the potential that your overall health and marriage are going to not only change but be revolutionized.

Life does not end when you die. There is an afterlife, and I am going to use this opportunity to tell you about it. Talking about the afterlife is not an indirect way for you to disengage with the present life, but a motivation for you to make the most of your time on earth. While there are many arguments about which road leads to God and which of God is true, I am not going to dwell on these issues. The reason being that there is not enough room for us to do a comparative study of world religions.
It is important to note that while popular culture classifies Christianity as a religion and tries to compare it with other religions, the truth is that it is not a religion.
Religion is mankind trying their best to reach out to God and please him.
Christianity is the exact opposite because God is the person who is reaching out to mankind and doing all to redeem us.

I am not under any illusion that there is a magic wand that can be waved to make racism disappear. There is no silver bullet either.
The fact that we are writing about this troubling topic is a testament to how difficult it has been to eradicate it. This does not mean that there is no hope though. The solutions I presented in this book to the best of my ability are based on the Judeo-Christian teachings that have been passed down to us over the years as revealed in Holy Scripture. I will be doing you a great disservice if I do not present the information here because, on your own, you will not be able to make it.
Since racism is a manifestation of SIN, it is more profitable to eradicate sin because when that is done, racism will automatically be eradicated. To deal with this fundamental problem of sin, I will be presenting what has worked for me for your consideration. All I ask of you is that you read through it and decide for yourself.

I mentioned that in Bamumbu, White people are referred to as red. Therefore, we will have a Red and Black division, an indication that using color to classify people does not make sense.

When I was a little kid, I had a hard time understanding the meaning of Good Friday. How can the untimely death of a 33-year-old man on a bloody Roman cross be a “good” thing? How can death be good? When individuals identify and use their gifts, they rise up to the top. Unfortunately, many have decided to use skin pigmentation to determine who gets to the top because some believe that the color of their skin can hold them back. Daniel could have allowed the fact that he was not a Babylonian and a captive to prevent him from rising to the top, but he understood the power of using his gift because that is what matters the most. As we draw the curtain on this chapter, it is important to understand that no matter where you are, what you have been through, and what other people have done to you, God can still make a way for you. Light can’t be defeated by darkness, and it is not a good idea to fight darkness with darkness because it just does not work. While our natural tendency may be to seek vengeance and allow hate, bitterness, and resentment to lead us, we must resist this temptation. Anybody looking at Joseph while he was still a slave and imprisoned would have ruled him out because his circumstances did not seem to align with the dream that he had for his life. He was deprived of physical freedom, and there was no way, humanly speaking, that he would become the leader his dreams had predicted. But God was with him and was working out everything for his good.
To understand Joseph’s perspective, it important to factor in what the following psalms says about him:
Moreover He called for a famine in the land;
He destroyed all the provision of bread.
He sent a man before them—
Joseph—who was sold as a slave.
They hurt his feet with fetters,
He was laid in irons.
Until the time that his word came to pass,
The word of the Lord tested him.
The king sent and released him,
The ruler of the people let him go free.
He made him lord of his house,
And ruler of all his possessions,
To bind his princes at his pleasure,
And teach his elders wisdom. Psalms 105:16-22
It is worth noting that these Psalm was written a long time after Joseph had died. The writer of the Psalm understood who was truly in charge of the affairs of man. God!
To truly understand what is going on in our lives, community, and the world, we must factor God in the equation. Those who have decided to reject God have come up with some worldly solutions that have failed to deliver the peace, joy, contentment, purpose, and happiness that we all crave. Many have questioned why a good God will allow suffering, death, discrimination, hate, murder, and all the ills that we suffer from.
There are many excellent resources that handle this subject better than I can, and you can refer to those. It is important to note that the life of Joseph demonstrates a simple truth that God will make use of the good, the bad, and the ugly because all things mean all things. Are you willing to trust God to make the most of whatever situation you are in? You can choose life, victory, hope, and happiness by trusting God to work all things for your good.

Never allow the opinions of others about you to become your reality. If somebody says that you are a donkey and treats you like a donkey, will you accept? What you believe is what will rule over you. All people are created equal. If there is an alternative, please share with me. It is the truth that sets people free, not the traditions and cultural norms that are not based on facts! When did the amount of melanin in somebody’s skin become a base for defining that person? Can you determine the quality of the house solely on the paint on the exterior of the house? Stop believing and spreading this craziness. Is it not written that we are all one in Christ? One human race, created in the image of God. Who do you believe? Let God be true, and all others are liars! Focus on changing you, not the other person who has chosen to believe a lie and live in ignorance. If all the facts about the human race have not convinced somebody to realize that skin color is not enough to segregate us, then you might as well allow that person to wallow in their ignorance. Joseph did not become number two in Egypt because somebody pitied him or advocated for him to be given that job. Remember that the Egyptians detested the Hebrews and they would not even eat with them. This is discrimination at its worst. Nobody set up a committee to fight against this discrimination, but when Joseph cared enough for others to meet their needs, he was positioned to become the number two most powerful person in Egypt.
It has been said that the cream will always rise to the top. When you focus on the needs of others, you will be inspired with solutions to meet those needs. Unfortunately, many people are so wrapped up in their own issues that they have no time to think about other people. The way to get to the top is by solving other people’s problems.

Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men. Proverbs 22:29 Joseph had a gift to interpret dreams and he used it while in prison. In addition to being a dream interpreter, Joseph was a skilled administrator and manager. We are told that his master's business flourished under him. Even when Joseph was thrown in prison he excelled and was placed in charge of other prisoners. Please don't get me wrong, there is never any justification for the evil that is perpetuated against people. That said, it is important to understand how to overcome this evil. Joseph as we have already seen did not wait for his "oppressors" to create the ideal conditions for him to do well. Joseph skillfully used his gifts and that made away for him and brought him much needed liberty and freedom. There is nothing wrong with setting up advocacy groups to fight for the rights of others. The call for social justice and equality sounds great and it is highly necessary, but this alone will not do it. Government intervention and laws are great, but all laws are limited because a lot depends on the individual and what they do with their gift.

I can only guess that this story was shared with me because they believed I could make a difference in this young girl's life that is in need. We are bombarded each day by many needs, and times we can become overwhelmed because we feel that there is little or nothing in our power to do anything that will make a difference. The desire to make a meaningful change can become an obstacle to doing anything if it is not well channeled. You don’t need to do a lot for your effort to have a lasting impact. All you need is to contribute your tinny drop; if many of us put in a drop, it will become a mighty river that will move mountains. Imagine the mountain before this young lady and see the joy that will overshadow her when together we remove this mountain between her and her dream to become an engineer. If some stranger had done it, one would have had some understanding. You may be thinking that I am giving a pass to all the perpetrators of racism and those that have seized native lands, exploited, enslaved, and pillaged other cultures.
Those advocating for social justice and calling for reparations for past crimes are not looking at the complete picture because they are making sweeping generalizations about the past that are not so.
I strongly condemn whatever happened in the past and may still be happening. In the same light, anybody in this day and age who still thinks that the amount of melanin in somebody’s skin is a great criterion to divide humans into different races should wake up.
The color of somebody’s skin has nothing whatsoever to do with intellectual capacity, integrity, worth, and achievement.
Therefore, anybody who thinks that they can justify their hate, discrimination, and maltreatment of other people because of their skin color is the one that needs help the most and should seek help as soon as possible.

It is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who said, “Sunday morning at 9:00 am is the most segregated hour in the United States of America.”
Today you can still hear people throwing this around as proof that racism is in the DNA of the United States of America and that white privilege is true and will never go away. This sentiment does not capture the whole issue.

Why is it that when a “white family” prohibits their own child from getting married to a person from a different ethnic background, it is blown out of proportion, and racism is invoked? Are the concerns of the African parent in any way different? Do some people think what is good for us is not good for others? Do you see how discrimination is a heart issue and found anywhere you have people? If these attitudes are not checked, they will continue to divide the human race. Some are going to argue that because discrimination is coming from a Caucasian, it is more egregious. I will say whoever thinks like this is refusing to remove the log of wood in their own eye and focusing on the tiny piece of wood in the other person’s eye. In the previous chapter, the whole idea of race was debunked because there is only one race: the human race. Any other divisions are baseless and mere social constructs. The idea of racism itself is based on a faulty understanding of the human race and the false assumption that some people are inferior. It is important for us to understand that the phenomena of superiority and inferiority complexes have existed in all human societies through the ages. Today, no matter where you go, you will find that society is broadly divided into two main groups: those that think they are superior to others and those who have been relegated, forced, or brainwashed to believe that they are inferior. We may be splitting hairs to get to the intricacies of these phenomena, but each society has different ways of classifying who is superior and who is inferior. In some cases, the amount of money and material possessions you have define your position. In other countries, the social class or caste in which somebody is born determines if they are considered inferior or superior. As a geoscientist, it is common knowledge that the color of a mineral is one of the most unreliable characteristics that can be used to describe it. The reason is that some minerals have different colors, for example, you have rose quartz, smoky quartz, milky quartz, amethyst, citrine, etc. The other reason color is not such a good idea is because different minerals have the same color. Therefore, any geologist knows that the best way to test the true color of a mineral is to use the streak of that particular mineral. The streak is the color of the power of the mineral.

Dr. Luther King, Jr. was correct, but it seems the society still has to catch up with the reality he was talking about. While society may be used to using all these labels to classify people for whatever purpose, these labels have caused more harm than good. There is a lot to a label or a name. When words no longer mean what they originally meant. This is an unfortunate reality, and it makes it difficult to have any meaningful conversation and come up with solutions. Each time you think you have nailed down the problem, the meaning of the words is changed into something else.
For example, the word racism the way it is being used by some in the United States of America right now is synonymous with being a member of the Republican Party. The term has even been expanded to include anybody that voted for President Donald Trump and also those who did not vote for him but have a slight inclination to support any of his policies. Before I do that, there is one more term that needs to be defined and contextualized. This is the word tribalism, and it is one of the words that many people use loosely without a second thought. Part of bringing tribalism into this discussion is because as I child, I was taught that my ethnic group and all other ethnic groups in Africa were tribes and still are. Therefore, any conflicts, discrimination, and animosities between the different “tribes” are treated as some sort of tribalism and are somehow in a different category compared to racism.
It seems that because tribal people are considered primitive, savages, underdeveloped and unsophisticated, whatever happens between them is not equal to the sophistication of racism, which is occurring in a more advanced, civilized, and sophisticated society. Therefore, let these tribal people do their thing because what else can you expect from uncivilized and primitive people apart from acts of savagery?
All humans bleed when cut. Discrimination, no matter who does it and where it is done, is equally painful, limiting, and destructive and should be called out and condemned by all. The time of a two-tier society is gone because tribalism is a bogus term that needs to be eradicated when referring to other people.

It is important to define tribe before tribalism because an attempt will be made to highlight the parallels between these words and how they have influenced and continue to inform our understanding of racism.
The English Oxford Dictionary defines a tribe as “a social division in a traditional society consisting of families or communities linked by social, economic, religious, or blood ties, with a common culture and dialect, typically having a recognized leader.”
This standard definition uses words like traditional, dialect, and blood ties. Unfortunately, this idea of the tribe is somehow different from an ethnic group has persisted over time because those who coined the term we're trying to distinguish between the more advanced western ethnic groups compared to the primitive, less developed tribal people in other parts of the word.

Another word that is of great interest to me because of its propensity to overflow into racism is ethnocentrism. While there is nothing wrong with having a strong affinity for your people who share the same culture, language, beliefs, etc., there is a cause for concern when the “ethnic pride” is turned into prejudice against other ethnicities.
Unfortunately, ethnocentrism is often turned into animosity and bad treatment of other people who do not belong to the dominant or the more affluent group.

Even in the age of the internet, which is some sort of an information superhighway, there are a few major actors, such as Google and Facebook, that control the traffic and at times, introduce bias.
The mass media houses are using this new information technology to get their messages out as well. In addition to traditional avenues like radio, magazines, and television, the internet is being highly utilized by different mass media organizations.
Mass media is guilty of propagating stereotypes that perpetuate racism because of selective programming and partial reporting. They pick and choose what news items to broadcast and for the sake of ratings, the news focuses on aspects that have a certain appeal to segments of the society, at the expense of other members of the society. Therefore, it will be difficult to talk about the origin and propagation of racism without looking at the role of mass media in deseminating information and the impact this information has on race relationships.

In the beginning, after God finished creating the universe and all that is in it was good. God, as we have already seen, gave the five senses so that mankind could enjoy the physical environment and all the good things that God had created. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned because the physical senses were used to break God’s law and have since then become the avenue through which the enemy uses to tempt people to disobey God.
We already saw how Eve engaged her five senses to disobey God. This first act of disobedience forever changed the wiring of our five senses because they are now susceptible to be used to do evil. If you trace any evil thing under the sun, it is connected to one of the five senses.
Racism is not a born trait, and there is no such thing as the racist gene. Racism is a learned behavior that is passed down from generation to generation by parents and society.

We all renounce racism because it causes harm to other people, and in some extreme cases, it has led to murder. This is something that the Encyclopedia of Human Rights states succinctly:

A lot of ink has already been spilled on paper regarding the subject of racism, but the issue seems to be as stubborn as a granite mountain that resists any attempts to be broken down by agents of weathering and mass wasting. Each time the issue of racism is mentioned, tensions are high, reason is thrown out the window and replaced by an emotional outburst that only makes the situation worse. We are in the 21st century and have made a lot of advances in technology, medicine, communication, artificial intelligence, and many other areas, but it seems we are having a lot of difficulties eradicating racism.

The American Constitution is a road map to the benefits of being a US citizen, and all immigrants are strongly encouraged to read it. You cannot defend what you do not know; that is why learning about the constitution will help the continuation of our way of government.
There is no excuse for not reading and understanding the basic tenets of the Constitution of the United States of America. It is a small document and will take you less than 30 minutes to read, but a lifetime to digest and apply.
It is tempting to jump over this as many immigrants do, but don’t try to participate in the political debate without any road map.
The United States is a republic; that is why when you read the constitution, the word “democracy” is not mentioned in it. But the constitution created a limited representative republic to avoid some of the pitfalls of a “pure democracy” where the majority can easily abuse the rights and privileges of minorities, an observation that the founders were aware of, and did all to prevent the country from

These individuals count the cost of going on vacation compounded by “loss of productivity,” and the option becomes too costly. The result is that they are working all the time and never taking breaks or any days off except when they are sick.

But coaching is specific and based on “how to,” and it is more task-oriented and limited in scope. Meanwhile, mentorship is a more encompassing, longer relationship that has an overall impact on your life.
A good coach will guide you and help you develop mental toughness, setting the framework and psychological support needed to achieve your goal. The greatest advantage of having a coach is the accountability that is built in the whole process.

This is not something that is sanctioned by the society, but it is not frowned upon either. Those involved say they are joking and laugh at it.
In the United States of America, such an action will land you into deep trouble. You will be charged with sexual harassment, and the repercussion is huge.
The American public does not condone sexual misconduct, and for those who have engaged in it, when caught or when their victims expose them, the fallout is usually swift and devastating.
Sexual harassment is not only physical, but it can also be
verbal, so give compliments carefully.

There are too many horror stories about some husbands killing their wives because they brought them from their country of birth, and after sending them to school, the woman became “too powerful” for the men to control. It is not just the men alone who are “dumped” after their wives get here. The women who get husbands from their countries of birth have also suffered a similar fate.

Choosing where to fellowship is important because it gives the worshiper an opportunity to plug in and build deeper relationships with others.
Unfortunately, by default, many people gravitate towards their kind because they want comfort; this is contrary to the missional call on our lives. Instead of assimilating, many immigrants end up in clusters that are not equipped and empowered enough to maximize their presence in the country. This unfortunate situation can be avoided.
This subject cannot be handled in its totality here because there are too many facets to it, but you are being challenged to dig deeper and understand God’s call upon your life.
The issue being raised here is dear to my heart and has been one of those things I believe the Lord brought me to the United States of America to speak and to write about.
The segregation in the body of Christ is an affront to the Gospel message of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

You are going to have pressure both here and from those in your country of birth to show your “love for country” by making some investments. Your friends and relatives will bring to your attention what others in the diaspora have done and are doing to “develop” the country. They will insist, and if you do not do something, people will say that you have abandoned your roots and are not showing appreciation for the hand that fed you.
They are appealing to your emotions, and most people fall for it and engage in projects without proper evaluation and planning. The result is a colossal failure.
If you must run a business in your country of origin, then do it properly. Make sure that it is a business, not a charity venture.

Contrary to what most people think and say, the cost of a sedentary life is huge, and you cannot afford it.

Making exercise a regular part of your life is not optional; it is a must, and you must start from day one.
Exercising regularly and consistently is one of the most difficult and challenging things you will ever do.

Alcohol is abundantly available in the US and can easily be abused. In other parts of the world, driving under the influence (DUI) is against that law, but these laws are not strictly enforced. This chapter reminds immigrants of the dangers of DUI and admonishes them to avoid it.
Since drinking alcohol is socially accepted, it is the drug of choice for most people. Therefore, many people are addicted to alcohol and seldom seek help. If you are trapped by alcohol, help is available, and you can regain your freedom.

This formula describes what happens to a majority of the population. Under normal circumstances and everything being equal, if you take in more calories than you use, you are going to gain weight. This weight gain is from the conversion of the excess calories and storing it as fat. Your body thinks taking in extra calories is an indication that you are preparing for a period of starvation, so the body must store this excess energy for you to use when the lean times come.

If something is not done, the relationship will be strained. This can be prevented by proper communication, and one of the goals of this chapter is to do
that.
There is no other option than getting out there and clearing the snow.
It may be true that you have never experienced snow, let alone talk of shoveling it, but
this is not an excuse for not learning how to do it and doing a great job. All you need is to show interest, ask questions and follow instructions, and you will be fine.

It can be quite challenging to learn how to move around in a big city, but the sooner an immigrant masters public transportation systems, the faster they gain their freedom and mobility.
Your first inclination will be to reach out to others to give you a ride and help you move around and conduct your business. This approach is comfortable for you and makes momentary sense, but it prevents you from growing up and gaining your freedom of mobility.
The sooner you learn how to move around on your own, the better for you. The good news is that you do not need to reinvent the wheel. Every major city in the United States of America has a metro system. Here I am referring to the network of trains and buses that move people from one part of the city to the other.
You may be intimidated by the complexity of the networks and scheduling. Don’t let this complexity prevent you from venturing out and learning how to move around.

This chapter is for followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, encouraging and admonishing them to obey the great commandment and carry out the great commission.
It is easy for immigrants to get carried away by the lure of material and earthly pursuits, especially in affluent societies. This chapter emphasizes the need to be missional in all the immigrant does.
By now, you know the United States of America is not heaven, and you are a foreigner and an ambassador of the eternal kingdom of heaven.
“Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.”40 (1 Peter 2:11)
“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”41 (2 Corinthians
5:20)
In addition to being a foreigner and an ambassador, you are not your own; therefore, you cannot live any old way and pursue your own agenda.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.”42 (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
It is tempting to think that now that you are in the United States of America, your number one goal is to pursue the American dream. In other words, the pursuit of material and earthly success at the expense of what is eternal and heavenly. There is nothing wrong with getting advanced degrees and accumulating wealth. But you must remember that the command is for us first to seek the kingdom of God, then all the things we strive daily to amass will be added to it.

This is crucial for immigrants who may find themselves in situations where they are different from others and may not look, speak, or sound like those around them. If these immigrants are not comfortable with who they are, they will not rise up.
Do you know who you are? Have you put in the time, energy, and resources to figure out who you are? Many people spend their entire lives studying other subjects but never study who they are.
There is no other subject more important and fascinating than you, and you are being challenged here to figure out who you are. How far you will go, and the impact your life will have depends heavily on knowing who you are. Part of knowing who you are is uncovering your giftedness.

By default, most people will gravitate toward people that look like them, eat, speak, and dress like them. This is because people like what is comfortable, familiar, and predictable. Unfortunately, this attitude prevents assimilation and impedes how much the immigrant utilizes their skills and thus limits their impact.
You did not travel this far to settle down for comfortable, familiar, and predictable. The desire to grow prompted you to move from your country of birth.
Now that you are here, you cannot stop growing and expanding in all aspects of your life. A crucial and essential aspect of your life that you MUST grow in is your network.
The emphasis is being placed on you to expand your network because it is not going to happen if you are not intentional about it.
It is imperative that you give careful thought to this and do all within your power to branch out of “your people” and get to know other people. “Your people” here refers to people from the same country of birth like you and, in some cases, from the same ethnic group.

Air travel has brought the world closer than anything else, and people who were isolated in the past are increasingly interacting with others. This presents some challenges, and those who will thrive in such multicultural and multi-ethnic environments are those with a high QC.
The United States of America and many other metropolitan and cosmopolitan cities across the world are becoming more and more multinational and multi-ethnically mixed. Therefore, there is a great need to develop the skills necessary
to excel in such an environment.
It will take some concerted effort and intentionality on your part to increase your QC. This will not come naturally, and you will have to push yourself to grow in this area.

You might have migrated from a country where life insurance is non-existent, and even if there are any life insurance companies, only a few individuals have access to it.
In this chapter, the need for having proper and adequate life insurance coverage is highlighted. It is not uncommon in some of the immigrant communities for solicitations and GoFundMe accounts to be set up to repatriate the corpses of loved ones because they had no coverage. This can be avoided and should be avoided at all cost.
The best GoFundMe can do is help in the burying of your corpse, but it does nothing to provide for your loved ones you have left behind.
There is nothing more disheartening and traumatizing than to die and leave your loved ones destitute.
How do you expect your family to survive after you, as the main breadwinner, die? Where will they live?
What will they eat, and what will they wear? How will they go to school?
What will they do with your debts?
The questions can go on and on. You cannot turn a blind eye to these questions, and a deaf ear will not help either.

The contribution you as an immigrant will make in your new country will be highly affected by where and when you decide to retire.
Do not think that it is too early to start thinking about where to retire; after all, you just got here, how can you be thinking of retirement when you have barely started?
Starting with the end in mind will enable you to end strong. If you do not have the end in mind, you may find yourself in the predicament of the following gentleman and thousands of others who have gone before you. These are individuals who migrated and, in their minds, would go back to their countries of birth. Life happened, as is usually the case, and they never went back.
You may be tempted to think that you are different and that you will succeed where others have failed. Those who do not learn from history are bound to repeat history.
It is wishful thinking to assume that you will live here all your life and all of a sudden pack up and leave. Many have tried, and it has proven more difficult than they envisioned.

Many relationships have been ruined because proper boundaries were not set initially, and the expectations were not well defined. This tragedy can be avoided.
Setting boundaries and having a timeline and specific expectations from each party may be strange to you. The reason is that in your country of birth, your culture assumes that “things always work out as long as you are family or friends.”
To dare suggest that family members sit down and hammer out the terms and conditions for living together is sacrilege, unnecessary, uncalled for, and totally unaccepted.
The idea is even repulsive and should not be mentioned among families and friends. The assumption is that the closer you are, the smoother things will be, and the easier it will be to live together. The other reasoning is that agreements are made between people you know little about and not close relatives and friends.
If you are living with a host family who requires you to contribute financially to the cost of living when you work, you should not say they are “wicked.” It is for your
good, and be happy for the opportunity to practice living within your means.

Why are you not considering going to school? Millions of students have moved from various parts of the world for a great education in the great educational institutions in the United States of America.
Now that you are here, do all you can to go to school if you are not yet a working professional. Even some of the working professionals may need to go back to school to get their skills updated for them to get into the American workforce. How much money you will earn throughout your working life will be directly proportional to the amount of schooling you receive.
Going to school and getting an education is not just to obtain a job; the first and most important reason is the empowerment that a good education brings to you and the limitless possibilities that will open up to you throughout your life.

Don’t think that asking is easy; this issue is being brought up here as a reminder that it will take some intentionality on your part for it to happen.

When you stop learning, you stop growing. As an immigrant, you have been thrust into a new environment and have a lot of learning to do. If you do not keep learning, you will not grow and will not reach your full potential.
Nobody captures this more than Henry Doherty, a successful American businessman who held close to 140 individual patents and founded the Cities Service Company in 1910, which later became CITGO in 1965, and eventually, Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. in 1990.
Henry Doherty said, “Be a student as long as you still have
something to learn and this will mean all your life.”1
To be a student for the whole of your life will require you maintaining
humility and an open mind, without which you will not be a good
student.
Mahatma Gandhi states, “Live as if you were to die tomorrow.
Learn as if you were to live forever.”
The willingness to learn and to remain a student will
not come naturally; you have to cultivate it if you have not
already done so.
The most successful immigrants are those who have made learning daily a part of their lives.
When you meet immigrants who are lifelong students, they are positive, appreciative, and fun to hang around with.

Many illegal aliens move here, and the stress, strain, and inconveniences of being undocumented are disheartening. We can prevent this unnecessary suffering by ensuring that the incentive for them to move here is taken away.
The millions of illegal aliens living in the US need to be reached out to. We cannot continue to live as if they do not exist. It is in our best interest to ensure that we get them integrated into society so they can contribute and pay their fair share of taxes.

I am not against people moving freely and settling wherever they wish and doing whatever they want, but unfortunately, every country in the world has immigration laws that are enforced.
Those trying to hold America to a different standard are being disingenuous. Most of them come from countries that do not even have a path to citizenship for people from other parts of the world. And even if they did, outsiders would have a hard time fitting in because of ethnic divisions that are prevalent in these countries.

It is said that people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Many people currently living in the United States are quick to condemn the US for being too restrictive with its immigration policies while forgetting that their former home countries have draconian immigration laws in place as well. For example, in most
countries being born there does not guarantee citizenship, but a child born in the US is considered a citizen immediately, regardless of the immigration status of the parents. That is why so many people take advantage of the United States and have “anchor babies” here.
Only after I moved to the United States and experienced the inconveniences of living in a foreign country without proper documentation did I begin to understand what immigrants were going through in Cameroon, my own country of origin. Children born in Cameroon to parents from other countries are not automatically considered Cameroonian. When these children grow up and apply to attend state universities, their tuition is usually close to twenty times higher than that of Cameroonian students.

Coming to America: A Journey of Faith is Eric Tangumonkem’s story of wrestling with these thoughts and doubts. God called him to America from Cameroon to pursue graduate studies at the University of Texas at Dallas, but he had no money to put towards this dream. In this book, Dr. Tangumonkem shares his journey of learning to trust God as he stepped out in faith and came to America despite a lack of funds. He also shares some of his formative experiences prior to this call—experiences that will encourage readers in their faith. Dr. Tangumonkem’s life is a testimony to the faithfulness of God, and he is careful to give Him all of the glory.

“Reading Dr. Tangumonkem's book was a fascinating look into how God does provide for us, but most important is the growth in faith that accompanies His provision. Our growth in faith starts the process of our growth in prosperity, i.e. growth in wisdom comes before growth in wealth. As a fellow disciple of Christ and a fellow author, I, too, have had similar "deep dives" into trusting God having authored my own book from my own research, HWJDB How Would Jesus Do Business?: Bible Secrets for Startups and Entrepreneurs that echoes what he has learned: God wants us to grow and have the moral backbone to do what is right. Dr. Tangumomkem wrote about his sock blessing story, about it being a little thing, but he says the same thing God wrote in Luke 16:1-13 that if He can't trust us with a small amount of unrighteous wealth (and small blessings), how can He trust us with larger amounts He is willing to give us? We have to learn, then earn, before God can trust us with larger amounts. Learn, then earn, then God promotes you.”
