In this podcast, I introduce my new co-host Joey Kim from the CreditKim YT Channel.

CreditKim: https://bit.ly/2QUvQPK

Joey does a lot of great work discussing credit cards and how you can maximize the value of credit cards!

One of the biggest things in the credit card game is the credit card card ladder. In most credit card ladders, there are 5 steps. You have the secured card rung, the no annual fee rung, the $95 annual fee credit card rung, the $450-550 annual fee rung, then you have the rung where you see players such as the Amex centurion or Amex Black card at. Knwoing how to climb the ladder is key.

Another thing is, are credit card points passive income? I disagree with with this point but lets see what the creditkim thinks!

The first step is to save 1 months worth of expenses. This gives you the financial cushion and buffer so when you go into the next steps, it doesn't push you back. It also works with your psychology that you can save money.

The second step is to pay off any consumer debt. I generally define this as any non-mortgage debt that you should pay off such as credit card or student loan debt. I also recommend using the debt avalanche method.

The next step is to save 6 months worth of expenses. The key word here is expenses, not income. I generally recommend putting this money into a high yield savings account.

The fourth step is to get your 401(k) match... well because it's free money and your employer is basically subsidizing part of your retirement.

The next step is to max you your Health Savings Account (HSA). If you want to learn more about an HSA, and what an HSA is, I did do a video on that so I recommend watching to that.

The sixth step is to max out your roth IRA. With this account you pay you taxes now, then you have the ability to pull out the money tax free which makes it a powerful tool to use.

The seventh step is the max out the remaining portions of your 401(k).

The last step is to invest in real estate or invest in a brokerage account.
