What is up all you beautiful farmers, it’s your boy, professional cowboy and owner of Eweknit, Karol Devaney.

Happy new year to you, yes you, I mean you. I really hope it’s a good one. I hope it’s both peaceful and prosperous and I hope Covid f*&ks off.

So we’re starting off the new year with a bang. This the 2nd of the Christmas podcasts that I recorded and it is with none other than the farmer, the shearer, the scanner, the youtuber, the fellow professional cowboy, Cammy Wilson of The Sheep Game.

Now I don’t want to get cancelled for the fact that I decided to just interview 2 Scottish white males over Christmas, I had another 1 planned with the lovely Fiona Bergin but we couldn’t make it happen because Fiona is on the move but we’ll certainly do it at a later date.

Cammy for the 3 people who don’t know is a well known youtuber from Scotland, his channel "The Sheep Game" is today currently sitting on 43.7k thousand subscribers.

We had a hell of a chat and jammed on some great topics including Cammy’s time as a police officer and how he was nearly stabbed not once but twice. We talked about the importance of perspective and having a positive mindset in farming and in life.

We talked about depression and suicide and how the holidays while it’s such a happy time, can also be a very sad time and can compound mental health problems.

But we also jammed on some more positive topics too so don’t worry, these include, shearing, farming, Youtubing, travelling, Cammy told me about going to Japan, America, Ireland, United Arab Emirates, about how unbelievable Mia Khalifa uh I mean the Burj Khalifa was.

This was so much fun to do, we had a great laugh and it was fascinating to get a window into the mind of a man that’s making some serious waves in farming.

This is Cammy as you’ve never heard him before, enjoy.

If you've been a fan of The Agricast for awhile then this weeks guest needs no introduction as we've talked on the podcast a few times before. Alice Hodges is a 25 year old dairy farmer originally from England who now lives and works in Kildare calf rearing and relief milking on a number of farms.

We had a fantastic conversation about different topics such as her new blog which she launched a few weeks ago surrounding her work and her farm life which is very interesting! We also talked about her experience working on a farm and she gives great advice on how to build your reputation in the industry, what you should expect when working on a farm and any red flags to look out for when working for somebody. COVID has been the topic on everybodys mind for awhile so we also touched on the stress its causing people and how because of it Alice unfortunately wasn't able to go home to her family as planned.

They also farm 500 acres which is split between a dairy to beef operation and tillage. Phil also makes YouTube videos and now has over 36,000 subscribers!

We had a great chat about the awful year that 2016 was for tillage farmers and how the Stewart family had to get out of suckler cows to be able to keep the ship afloat, calf rearing, how automatic feeders work and how to keep them alive and turn a profit on them. We also talk about Phil's YouTube channel, how he first started putting up farm simulator videos to be the next farming version Pewdiepie and how he's handling his newfound fame.
