Join Host Marguerite Tonery in the last episode of the series as she talks with Dr. Francesca Le Morgia on the importance of language in the household, busting myths on learning multiple languages, and the joy of joining Mother Tongues.
Dr. Francesca La Morgia is the founder and director of Mother Tongues. She holds a Ph.D. in bilingual language acquisition and has been working as a lecturer since 2010 both in Ireland and in the UK. She is currently lecturing in the Froebel Department of Primary and Early Childhood Education at Maynooth University and delivering teacher training in the area of language around Europe.

In this week's episode, Marguerite is joined by French translator Laly Wehbe.
Laly translated the Silly Sammy Picture Book written by Maria Breen-Fahey, and illustrated by Béibhínn McCarthy.
She explains the difficulties faced when translating something as small as a picture book into your own language as well as her journey living in Ireland and the importance of understanding colloquial terms. There is a great deal of skill in translating atmosphere, emotion, and maintaining the pace of a text from one language to another.
Today Marguerite introduces Ms. Ciara Begely. Ciara translated the Covid Monsters Visit into Gaelic.
In this episode, our Irish translator reveals the ins and outs of her regime and the tricky side of translating into our own native language, and how it is never too late to learn our own mother tongue.
The Irish language certainly is unique, but today Marguerite discovers as she talks with translator and editor Anet Rumberg, that the Estonian language has its own unique spin on phrases and slang.
Anet translated Covid Monster's Visit into Estonian. She shares the difficulties involved in translating many Irish sayings we may take for granted such as 'silly', or 'daft', and how much research must go into a book that holds slang so common to us.
In today's episode, Marguerite interviews Italian Translator Consultant, Claudia Maloney.
Claudia has worked for Tribes Press, reviewing the Italian-language version of Marguerite Tonery's children's picture book 'Covid Monster's Visit' ( La Visita di Covid Mostro). She explains the importance of communication with children about the virus abroad.
