On Thursday evening, we welcomed the Mayor of Solihull, Council and other visitors for a civic service to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day. Richard was the preacher, speaking on 2nd Corinthians 5:16-21.

This morning Richard spoke at our all-age morning service on Acts 5:27-32 and John 20:19-31, and the gifts Jesus gave his first disciples as he met them on the evening of that first Easter Day with the words “Peace be with you”.

This morning we continued our series “The Rest is Worship” and Richard was helping us to think about Luke 10:38-42, and the importance of putting aside distractions to spend time with God. In the reading, Jesus visits the home of Mary and Martha, and Martha gets distracted with all the busyness of preparing for his visit.

Over the summer we’re looking at Luke chapters 5 to 8 in our new series “Luke: Good News for Everyone”, meeting a whole range of people who encounter Jesus and discover him to be good news.
