Hosts Aditya and Srinivas are back after a brief hiatus. In the latest episode they discuss two Oscar winners 'Parasite' and '1917' along with the Telugu film 'World Famous Lover' starring Vijay Deverakonda.
The discussion kicks off with 'World Famous Lover'. This Kranthi Madhav's directorial and Vijay's next after the box office debacle 'Dear Comrade' doesn't seem to have impressed Srinivas even to the least bit. He says 'Vijay experiences love, frustration, heartbreak, anger and other emotions, but audience go through nothing but annoyance all through the film, annoyance that erupts when there is no emotional connect with the protagonist on screen'.
Then they jump into the best cinematography winner at the Oscars, '1917'. Aditya says it is one of the best war films he has ever watched. The film seems to have shot in one single take and you can only imagine how much work goes when you make such an attempt with a movie that is set against world war. And finally, they delve deeply into Bong Joon Ho's work 'Parasite'. This classic tale of horrifying inequality in our society leaves you with numerous points to ponder on. The master filmmaker unequivocally showcases ultra rich lives juxtaposed with slum dwellers by using cinema as a tool. Aditya, appreciating the genius of the director, says 'In the film, if you notice, the staircases symbolize socio-economic backgrounds of the two families. You always climb up when you are to go to the rich man's mansion and it is always downwards to reach the poor man's doorstep'. Check out the episode for lot more insights!

This week on The Awful and Awesome Entertainment Wrap, Abhinandan Sekhri is joined by Amrita Roy and Aditya Relangi to discuss Season 3 of the series Atypical, Tamil movies Asuran and Kaithi, the album Khulle Naagde by the Bandish Projekt, and three advertisements which have become the talk of the town.
Referring to Atypical, Amrita says the sitcom series is “more representative of the world we live in”. “It’s brave to pick up a subject like this because it’s very easy to get it wrong,” she adds. Aditya applauds the makers of Asuran for the intense visuals of the film.
Up next is the Knorr soup commercial starring Karan Johar. Amrita argues that it is a “fine, lowkey and funny ad” that is also progressive. “KJo maintains his way of making fun of his wishy-washy stand on being homosexual,” she notes.
The panellists also laud the latest Australia Tourism ad as having the perfect ingredients to attract an Indian audience.
The discussion moves on to a major Tamil release of 2019, Kaithi. Aditya argues, “Kaithi is a gritty film, a suspense thriller, they were able to hold the suspense through the entire 2.5-hour film.” This episode also features the bilingual Netflix documentary American Factory, the Citibank ad plagiarism row, and Bandish Projekt’s Khulle Naagde album.

As one of the regular hosts, Aditya was away, we had invited Akhil to join Srinivas Kondra. While Akhil delves into how the master filmmaker Bong Joon-ho was able to capture the naivety of rich and how they got exploited by a poor family in 'Prasite', Srinivas talks about how the writer-director of 'Gang Leader' Vikram effortlessly turned revenge drama into a comedy entertainer. For the 17th episode of ‘In The End’, hosts Aditya and Srinivas pick up 1997 Telugu movie ‘Sindhooram’. Directed by Krishna Vamshi, the film earned National Award despite being a debacle at the box office. In the conversation, both of them try to look at this 90’s beauty of the movie as it stands out in every aspect from the template-driven Telugu movies of the decade. Be it the colloquial dialogues, natural performances, music and most importantly, the story –an important social subject. Srinivas says that probably Sindhooram might have been the first film in Indian cinema that shown the Naxal movement and its relationship with the government in the right light, by not taking any sides. It just shows how the movement operates, its motivations and the turns it takes owing to inescapable situations, he opined. Aditya points out Krishna Vamshi’s brilliance when it comes to the dialogues (written by KNY Pathanjali) and the native flavor that he brings on to the screen. He explains it by juxtaposing dialogues from ‘Sindhooram’ and Trivikram’s directorial ‘Attarintiki Daredi’. A lot more has been discussed in detail. Listen up!

While Aditya bashes the makers of 'Saaho' for splurging crores of money only to end up with a film that has lots of style with zero substance, Srinivas on other hand seems to have impressed by the stylish 90-year-old Harry Dean Stanton from 'Lucky' directed by debutant John Carroll Lynch. In this 14th episode of 'In The End', hosts Aditya and Srinivas talk about recently released Telugu movies 'Evaru' and 'Rana Rangam' along with much touted second season of Netflix series 'Sacred Games' and a documentary, 'The 90's: India Rediscovered'. While Aditya takes a dig at how Rana Rangam fails miserably with its cliched underdog story and a weak anti-hero, he seems to have pretty much liked suspense thriller 'Evaru'. On the other hand, Srinivas, who had not much impressed by the first season of Sacred Games goes on saying that the second season is a must watch. Discussing about the documentary, The 90's: India Rediscovered which talks about the significant events that happened in the decade of 90's, Srinivas says that those events truly led up to the country we are seeing now. He further explains how LK Advani's Rath Yatra and its subsequent result of Babri Masjid demolition paved path for BJP's unprecedented victory in consecutive general elections in 2014 and 2019.
