As of the time I'm typing this, THIS IS NOT A DRILL! All signs are leading to Messi actually leaving Barcelona this summer. Where is he going to go? We have absolutely no idea. We have some realistic targets and other "realistic" targets for Lionel Messi's future.

We also break down the original lead topic of this pod, the Champions League Final! Did PSG finally win their first title? No, they basically disappeared in the 2nd half.

The Quarterfinals have passed and there were plenty of surprises as Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and (almost) PSG faced elimination. PSG barely salvaged their best-ever campaign in the competition while Guardiola and Simeone were left wondering how they squandered such a great opportunity at reaching the Semifinals.

Barcelona barely even showed up as Bayern completely obliterated them.

Now, Lyon will face Bayern while Leipzig will face PSG to determine who will reach the 2019-20 Champions League Final.

To wrap up, we take a look at the Rivalry Phase 1 of MLS's return to the regular season. Hudson River Derby, Atlantic Cup, Canadian Classique, El Trafico, Texas Derby, Rocky Mountain Cup and so much more to look forward to!

We are back to give our surface-level thoughts on the end of the Premier League! Aston Villa were ultimately, quite literally, handed a gift in their goal-line technology controversy versus Sheffield United earlier in the season as they scraped by. United ultimately finished 3rd, while Leicester dropped out of the Champions League. What are the big takeaways?

Elsewhere, Juventus clinched their 9th straight Scudetto, but there is still places to be won in the form of Europa League positions. Milan, Roma and Napoli (not so much on Napoli)need to find out where they ultimately land in the table, and who is going to the Group Stage.

We then move to Champions League to give our thoughts on the upcoming games, and move to the U.S. where MLS and NWSL are back in action in their bubble competitions.

We are back as Spain finished it's delayed domestic campaign! Real Madrid took the title, Barcelona fell apart after the restart, and there were some wild scenes as European spots and relegation were decided in the final moments.

In England, teams like Leicester and Bournemouth shifted into positions that will be hard to shake. For one, Champions League will come down to the final day and for the other, relegation seems all but happening. And Chelsea won another WFT Derby in the FA Cup.

Moving on, we talk briefly about the Balon d'Or getting called off for this bizarre year.

We are back to discuss Liverpool taking the Premier League (finally), as the focus now shifts to the Top-4 race. Chelsea are in fine form after stunning Manchester City, but Manchester United are also in fine form. Who will take it?

We then shift to Spain where Barcelona lost out to Iago Aspas, but Real Madrid took advantage thanks to some more brilliance from Karim Benzema.

We wrap up the newest developments in Germany and Italy as another busy week of soccer comes to a close!

The Premier League is back and it returned with an absolute whimper as Sheffield United and Aston Villa played to a horrendous draw. It was punctuated, however, by some goal-line technological controversy. It's like football never left!

Arsenal did a bad thing as usual.

In La Liga, Real Madrid and Barcelona put together some crazy performances in their return, while Napoli stunned Juventus in the Coppa Italia Final. Ronaldo didn't shoot again in a decisive PK shootout!

We start off our return with a really important development that is hitting every walk of life around the world: coronavirus. It has the potential of shaking up the status quo across sports, including the Olympics, EURO 2020, international breaks, qualifiers, AFC Champions League, Serie A and much more.

We then move to the FA Cup where Liverpool lost yet again after losing their unbeaten season during the weekend. Where do their loyalties lie this season? What's next for Chelsea after dismantling the probable winners?

Following our thoughts on the conclusion of the 1st legs in the Round of 16 in Champions League, we move on to quick hits in MLS. Victor Wanyama is now with the Impact, Miami and Nashville saw their debuts, and the New York teams saw varying results in their first game.

We are back for a very streamlined episode!

Arsenal and Chelsea provided some theatrics as David Luiz made things interesting early on, but Chelsea forgot how to close out a game up a man for 30 minutes.

We then move onto the impact of Liverpool's win over Man United, before moving to the insane relegation race in the Premier League. Who of the current contenders will go down?

Chicharito has finally come to MLS! We discuss the impact of the Mexican's move to Major League Soccer and how the LA Galaxy made yet again another big splash in the market.

We then rebound back across the Atlantic as we touch on Haland's explosive debut with Dortmund and the chances of RB Leipzig finally dethroning Bayern.

Short and simple for this week:

What are the moments that resonate most with us from this past decade? Thomas can barely make a Top 5 of happy moments, so there's a lot of pain and suffering. Ryan helps out the happiness coefficient a little.

Disclaimers ahoy in this one, including finally putting names to people we are always referencing in the show! This is the time to remember the good, the bad, and the truly sad moments of the decade that resonated most with us.

The second Jose Mourinho Derby in a month took place between Chelsea and Tottenham in the Premier League. While the game was decided pretty quickly, the game was marred by another incident of racist abuse towards a player, this time the player Antonio Rudiger. There was a lot said about what the Premier League should do, with it being the second incident in a 3-week span. Who was spot on?

We then round out to Watford's "upset" of Man U, Man City's decisive win over Leicester and, while the latter was happening, Liverpool's first Club World Cup trophy in its history. The Club World Cup is a very underrated event.

We then touch upon the matchups to watch in the Champions League Round of 16 draw and close out with minimal talk of Atalanta's thrashing of Milan.

Finally a result to be happy about! Manchester United got another huge win in the Premier League with their 2-1 win over Man City at the Etihad. Where does this leave United after they took 6 huge points from Spurs and City? What's left of City's season now that they are 14 points back from Liverpool?

We then go over two teams in varying degrees of coaching rotations. Spurs continue the first act of Jose Mourinho's tenure in London, while the red half of North London are still trying to sort out their identity following the sacking of Unai Emery. They managed to take care of West Ham, but the danger signs are still there.

Once we venture out of England, we hit Italy to talk about the marquee matchup between Juventus and Lazio. The capital club got a huge victory over the defending champions, and now the Serie A table just got a whole lot more interesting. Do we have a 3-team race on our hands?

In this episode, we start from Wednesday's action and work backwards. That means the Jose Mourinho derby between Manchester United and Spurs. Solskjaer got the upper hand in this one, but which team needed this result more? Is Marco Silva on his last legs? Will he last until Boxing Day?

We then move to Balon d'Or 2019 and go over possible snubs and false placements in the final rankings. At least Messi won his 6th.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, coaching changes are afoot with Arsenal and Watford sacking their managers. Is Watford doomed to go down? Is Patrick Viera the answer to Arsenal's problems?

It's the night before Thanksgiving and all was quiet...wait, wrong holiday. It's the best food holiday of the year and it's time to end this Trash Turkey debate once and for all. Of course we don't agree.

There is soccer to be discussed as Chelsea and Man City met in the Premier League, while Arsenal and Man United are seriously considering their options at head coach.

We then move to another potential coaching change with Marcello Gallardo's River Plate as they utterly collapsed in the Copa Libertadores final against Flamengo. Is he now off to Inter Miami? Not so fast, apparently.

We then brush on Zlatan's Hammerby investment and what it means for his statue in Malmo before transitioning to the Champions League Group Stage MD 5.

I swear, Ryan has trashed the Group Stage before. I need help on this.

Big news came down the wire as we experienced a true glitch in the Matrix. Mauricio Pochettino was sacked from Tottenham. If that wasn't surprising enough, Jose Mourinho was named his replacement. Well, let's discuss that, shall we?

We then move to the USMNT quickly to look forward to 2020 before settling it with MLS. We go over MLS Cup and the event that led up to and made MLS Cup, as Thomas was lucky enough to go with MLS. Was it as spectacular as everyone said? Absolutely no bias, it sure was.

We then talk a little Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as they made their intentions for 2020 very clear for the world to see.

We knew this day was coming right? Christian Pulisic was bound to have a good game eventually. Ryan is ready, as always. After Chelsea, we hit on Liverpool vs Tottenham and the woes of Arsenal and Everton. Who is in the worst shape.

As we move on to quick hits, we touch on the MLS Conference Semifinals and the wild El Trafico that was.

The Carabao Cup is back. I know, I groaned as well. Ryan is pumped to watch a bunch of C and B teams pretend to care about a fake cup competition. It's a tough sell.

We are back with what we thought didn't amount to much this past weekend, but VAR ultimately reared it's beautiful head again. We start with United and Liverpool, complete with VAR decisions. We then move to Arsenal, Tottenham (2x VAR), and Aston Villa (VAR). After we round out the Premier League we decided to take it back across the pond.

The MLS Cup Playoffs started their brand new format and it resulted in some jaw-dropping contests. We focus in on Seattle vs Dallas, but touch on all of the results going into the Conference Semifinals.

The Reactapod is back! Making a fresh reappearance in this rare scenario is talk about the U.S. Men's National Team. In case you missed it, they lost to Canada. Yeah, I know what you're thinking: how can they let this happen?

We take a look at how the game transpired, go player-by-player and give our individual ratings for the entire team, talk about Gregg Berhalter and his system and the implications of it on the team. We also give some credit to Canada, as they deserve every bit of it.

This episode is focused, raw, and let's be honest, it gets a little ugly. Enjoy some more of this over @WFT_Podcast on Twitter!

We are back and we are more miserable than ever, well one of us is. Let's just get this out of the way: Manchester United lost. Shocking, I know. Thomas is miserable.

Let's talk about that. Is Ole losing the wheel? Will sacking and replacing him actually change anything. Is Man U hurtling towards a fate not dissimilar to Milan? We know Thomas has feelings about that.

We also talk about Decision Day in MLS and how Carlos Vela and LAFC smashed a few records heading into the Playoffs.

Finally, let's talk about the USMNT. Let's try to be rational, shall we? Should we expect to see guys like Yedlin? What are we looking for in this set of games against Cuba and Canada.

WE ARE BACK!

Finally, Thomas is mostly 100%, so that means we will hopefully be returning to a fully 100% schedule!

We start of this episode hitting some big items from the Premier League last weekend, including Manchester United, Christian Pulisic, and some truly questionable goalkeeping.

We then kick it over to The Best Awards, since we haven't had a chance to properly rant about this year. It's our other tradition, so we had to go over the results. About 30% less rant than usual, some props to the winners, and of course we need to talk about the World XI.

We're back! So a weird confluence of events happened.

The international break deterred us (mainly Ryan) from doing an episode, but we still wanted to recap the action before the club scene picked up again.

However, a day before recording, Thomas got sick. Pretty sick. After going day-to-day for much of the last week, we've decided that my voice isn't horrific enough to the human ear that I can tag along to an episode anchored by Ryan.

That's right folks, Ryan's coming out party is finally here!

Breaking down the big results in the Premier League, then pivoting to the Champions League where it was an extremely eventful Matchday 1.

Again, apologies for the LONG journey without an episode.

Lots of good discussion to be had as there were interesting tidbits in the Premier League. Arsenal and Liverpool played in the marquee match, but it was VAR that took the spotlight once again. There were three decisions in the Manchester United and Tottenham game that grabbed the narrative and the headlines.

While we are talking about VAR, let's talk about its ineffectiveness in Serie A during the Milan game. We're still in favor of it.

We cap off with MLS Rivalry Week and Carlos Vela. He started the week sending multiple Quakes to the Shadow Realm and it ended with an exciting El Trafico. Goals, drama, celebrations, excitement. Unpack it all in a new World Football Talk.

We decide to break out the Panic Meter on some teams around the world. We are 1-2 weeks into the new season, but that doesn't stop us from feeling a little panicked about some teams.

We, of course, of course start off in England with Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal (yeah, that's right) and Newcastle. Then, based on initial results, Barcelona and PSG had rough starts to the season.

Where will the panic meter fall?

Nice and simple to start off the 2019/20 Premier League season. We take a look at the biggest moments from Matchday 1, including a battle of own goals, VAR "controversy" in London involving Manchester City, and the team that impressed us most to start the season.

Oh yeah, we had to talk about the first World Football Talk Derby of the season. I had to take it easy on Ryan unfortunately.

It's that time of the year, but we start off a little differently than usual. Alejandro Bedoya made a statement in the DC United vs Philadelphia game in MLS after he scored on Sunday night and called out for change following the recent acts of gun violence in America. We discuss this choice and how it has resonated around the soccer world in the United States.

We then shift back to our 3rd Annual Premier League Predictions. 3rd time's the charm for Thomas, right? Who is winning the league? Did Thomas go with United again? Will Ryan believe in the loan army for Chelsea? Is Sheffield United an actual Premier League team?

Will Moise Kean and Patrick Cutrone lead the Italian Striker Revolution? Yes. The answer is yes.

Between the New York Derby and El Trafico, there were plenty of crucial moments to talk about. At Red Bull Arena, the red side of New York took a controversial throw-in that was initially called a corner and capitalized for the win.

In Carson, Zlatan Ibrahimovic talked a lot of smack leading up to the 4th El Trafico. He certainly backed it up.

We didn't think we'd have enough to go on, but ultimately the transfer news rounded out the episode nicely. We even went longer than usual.

We then move to the doozy: the final day in Serie A. Seven teams were playing for something in 5 games on the final day, including a stunning, tense and ultimately devastating Champions League race.

We then fly across the Atlantic to talk about Alejandro Pozuelo's debut for Toronto FC as he pretty much ended Sean Johnson's career in their huge win over NYCFC. A panenka, a scoop chip, a dominant performance.

The Derby della Madonnina (Milan Derby) came and went and it was one of the more electric derbies of late. You may think there's a rant here, but you may come out surprised.

We touch on the FA Cup and how Manchester United put forth one of their worst displays under Solskjaer and then look at the draw. Spoiler: City got an easy one.

We then blitz through the Premier League and La Liga before talking briefly about a wild finish to Orlando City's game on Saturday in MLS and look ahead to the international window and Gregg Berhalter's first full camp with the USMNT.

It's certainly all been leading to this moment. Kepa refusing to come out as Extra Time waned in the Carabao Cup Final against Manchester City. In what is already being dubbed a "misunderstanding" between the goalkeeper and manager, they aren't fooling us. As our resident Chelsea fan, Ryan's got takes.

We try to decipher this incident, what came before and of course the penalty kicks afterwards as City snapped up their second consecutive League Cup.

We then move on to VAR decisions that would've, could've, should've been called in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League. Thomas gets pretty heated about VAR and the reasoning people have to keep it out of the sport.

Brace yourself, this one gets heated.

Ryan just can't catch a break. After hammering him about Chelsea's loss to Bournemouth, they follow that up with losing to Manchester City. Now, they double down and crash out of the FA Cup with a devastating loss to Manchester United. What can be done to fix Chelsea's tailspin? Ryan isn't optimistic it can be done.

We then move on to the best of the rest of the FA Cup Round of 16, if you want to call it that.

A spirited discussion of Real Madrid vs Ajax, Man United vs PSG and other Champions League Round of 16 1st legs leads to some debates on who surprised and who disappointed.

We then move on to some huge results throughout the table as Spurs took on Leicester City, Cardiff got a huge 3 points in a 6-pointer, Fulham and Huddersfield continue to be doomed and Arsenal...gets an expected win.

We take a look at the results, pick out the most surprising ones, break down Groups A-D and see if today's results shed any light on how the groups will finish in December.

It's been a bit! We are back (with better audio, relatively speaking) to break down the UEFA Champions League Draw and the Carabao Cup Round of 32 draw!

Who got the worst group? Which group is the Group of Life? Why did Manchester City, Bayern and Real Madrid all escape with easy draws again?

It's all here in another cracking episode of World Football Talk.

Thomas had to break out a beer for the first show ever. That's about as well as the Manchester United talk went.

Week 2 Premier League awards await you.

Also, we know the audio is a bit unbalanced. Can't seem to find that happy medium between Ryan's mic and Thomas's mic (despite what OBS tells me, the liar). Please bear with us as we sort this nonsense out.

Thanks for all of the recent onslaught of support, you all are the best. We will do our best to keep the content coming at a semi-high quality (again, the audio issue).

We are back for some more post-World Cup discussions as we talk about the nominees for Best Men's Coach and Best Men's Player for the, well, The Best (TM) FIFA Awards happening in late September. We also talk about some big transfer news, like Malcom's insane transfer developments, Andre Schurrle to Fulham, West Ham making smart business moves, and more.

We also take a look at the Merseyside Derby, Leicester vs Newcastle, Augsburg vs Bayern, and other results around Europe.

Finally, we dive into the action that took place in MLS, including Atlanta's 5-0 demolition job of LAFC. Is the expansion club officially in trouble?

We look ahead to the fixtures through Wednesday, as a lot of Champions League-related fixtures take place, both in league play and in cup play.

We then move to Major League Zlatan as the first El Trafico was a major success. If you somehow haven't heard, Zlatan did Zlatan things and this game was just all-around nuts. You have to check this section out and watch the highlights for this game.

We finish off looking ahead to numerous notable matchups this weekend. The derbies continue with the Madrid, Merseyside and Manchester Derbies, along with some intriguing MLS matches and Bayern's chance to clinch the Bundesliga title.

We kick off 2018 making up for lost time as a whole plethora of Festive Fixtures have come and gone. Did Zaha dive? Did Chambers or Yoshida hand ball? How long does Mark Hughes have? Are Swansea going to be safe? Is Bobby Madley amazing?

These are just a few questions that we try to answer in this edition of World Football Talk.

We are also testing out some new equipment. We are still getting adjusted to our new mic stands so we are still trying to find the perfect placement and mixing for our audio. Thomas knows he is too "off-mic." Thomas will fix. Have a great New Year!

A festive episode of World Football Talk sees Ryan and Thomas reminisce on either a horrible Festivus or a fantastic Festivus, depending on which of us you ask.

El Clasico saw some optional defending by Real Madrid's full backs, Arsenal-Liverpool some optional defending and goalkeeping, while Manchester United's games led to some optional goals and acceptable results.

Overall, a Festivus to forget for Thomas. Boxing Day can only get better, right? RIGHT?

We start off with our recap of the most recent Premier League fixtures, including who we think could still be going down (we recorded before Paul Clement was sacked, making him the third manager we've jinxed).

We then move on to the hotly contested social media post that Antoine Griezmann put on social media showing him dressing up as a Harlem Globetrotter to an 80's party. Definitely could've been handled better with about 100% less full-body black paint.

With El Clasico fast approaching, we look back on the last edition of this fixture and the soul-lifting and soul-crushing (depending which one of us is talking) nature of Messi's goal.

We go back to basics this week as we talk about the two biggest games of the weekend: the Merseyside Derby and Manchester Derby. Both saw some highly controversial moments, especially in the tunnel.

We also take a look at the Champions League Round of 16 and Europa League Round of 32 Draws that took place on Monday. There most certainly is a Ryan Linder Derby, but Milan drew complicated opponents. Then again, Milan is just complicated in general.

As promised, here is the delightful graphic Daily Mail came up with: https://i.redd.it/9zettqq1jd301.jpg

We are back as the Champions League and Europa League Group Stage has now completed and the advancing teams have been determined.

How do we assess the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich? Who does Ryan want Chelsea to draw considering they have incredibly limited options. Is Milan really as screwed as Thomas thinks?

It was very much a build-up week in the Premier League as fixtures such as United vs Arsenal prepared us for Derby Sunday. Paul Pogba received a bit of karma with his sending off.

Manchester City also decided to become the biggest teases in England after looking like they would drop points twice to Southampton and West Ham.

We also look into the progress of Chelsea and Tottenham. Mark Clattenburg had something to say about the game between the two a couple of seasons ago, and Thomas is pretty heated about it.

Oh and Milan capitulating against Benevento.

La Liga, ESPNFC 100 and a special announcement about the podcast all await inside as it is another episode of World Football Talk. Be on the lookout for our Champions League Group Stage roundup as we look at how our predictions stacked up, as well as potential Round of 16 clashes going forward.

A huge week in the Premier League saw Liverpool and Chelsea share the spoils, Manchester United scrape by Brighton and Manchester City survive a scare against Huddersfield.

Refereeing decisions have become a big focus between potential suspensions for simulation or even the simple fact of correctly calling a goal in the Barcelona game.

We also talk about the constant yo-yo effect with Premier League managerial candidates and the Ruhr Derby that ended in spectacular fashion.

The North London Derby came and went and Arsene's Arsenal came out on top in rather convincing fashion. Where was this all season?

Plus, the rest of the "Top 6" eased to victory and that meant the end of the Tracksuit Tornado Tony Pulis.

The Derbies continued around Europe as the derby della Capitale and the Madrid Derby came and went and saw results that impact the top of both Spain and Italy's tables.

Also, see what came of our mock World Cup Draw as we anticipate the official World Cup Draw from Saint Petersburg on December 1.

We start off with a little thank you to YOU the listener for helping us achieve 1,000 downloads. We love you all!

We then go over the horribly-named "The Best" awards and how Olivier Giroud didn't deserve the Puskas one bit.

In this episode we also cover: - The week in Europe and how some surprising fixtures are leading to some equally surprising tables. - All of the big Premier League results, including United's loss to Huddersfield and Watford and Chelsea's slugfest. - The sacking of Craig Shakespeare and Ronaldo Koeman. - The big results around Europe, including Napoli v Inter.

Finally, as always, we give our "unique" insight on the week of games ahead including United vs. Spurs and a double feature of Leipzig vs. Bayern.

We pick up the international pieces to start the show. Between Bruce Arena resigning, the World Cup Seedings and the UEFA Playoff Draw, there is some housekeeping to be done.

We then move to league action as we talk about the absolute early sneezefest between United and Liverpool and talk about how scared we are of Man City. We also, of course, talk about Arsenal and Chelsea's respective losses.

We also move around the world to a testy affair between Dortmund and Leipzig (and it gets testy between Ryan and Thomas). Barcelona stole a point, but Real Madrid closed the gap.

And, of course, Thomas takes the criticism following the heated Derby della Madonnina in Italy.
