Whiskey Business is a podcast not so much about whiskey, as it is one WITH whiskey. Comedian and influencer, Dino Tripodis, discusses topics from A to Z while sharing a pour of whiskey with his guests. Join the Whiskey Business team for enlightening and entertaining conversations over a “good pour".

Bill Demora returned to Whiskey Business as we had to accommodate his annual rite of football passage and have him on to ensure at the very least…a winning season for THE Ohio State Buckeyes.  This time around the superstitious landscape was a little different as he is now a state Senator for Ohio and his commitment to the office could incur havoc to his firmly entrenched traditions. We discussed the season, the QB situation, what happens if Coach Ryan Day loses three in a row to Michigan and would he run for office again if for some reason the Buckeyes lost with this change in his work dynamic. Insane? Yeah. It was. But fun as hell to watch or listen to. Can a Buckeye season hinge on one man? He seems to think so.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Longtime friend of Whiskey Business, Jesse Hubbard returned to the podcast to talk about his recent book, Punk Rock and Cocktails Vol. 2 but of course the conversation drifted into so much more in respects to music. First concerts, fave concerts, what decade do you wish you could’ve musically lived in, and yeah…Barry Manilow confessions.  A good time shared over a bottle Willet Family Estate Small Batch Rye, it was another for the books along with a “book” you should add to you collection.  Learn more about your ad choices. Whiskey Business got reacquainted with itself as The Boys have been busy in their own worlds outside the podcast. Trips to Tulsa, vacations in Michigan, a taping for true crime episode for Oxygen, and a short stand in The World Series of Poker. Oh, and Greg’s dad joined us. A delightful chat with John Hansberry which gave us a little more insight into our audio producer, Greg who I affectionately refer to as “the son I never wanted.” A fun podcast with a bottle of E.H. Taylor Small Batch Bottled in Bond to go along with it. Enjoy.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Improv comedian, actor, and (yes) math professor returned to Whiskey Business for another fun and unpredictable visit that included unexpected encounters with Dave Chappelle, Tina Fey, making independent films, how to properly write off your gas mileage (See? Math!) and the trials and tribulations of taking your 85-year-old father to renew his driver’s license. Yeah, a lot of fun on this. Dare I say, something for everybody? I dare. Enjoy. Comedian Henry Allen joined Whiskey Business to talk about the current biz of comedy.  Henry started doing standup when he was 17 years old and now being the wily veteran at 30, he had some interesting and funny views about where comedy was when he started and where it is now; what’s funny, what’s taboo and how the politically correct chains may be loosening a bit.  As is always the case on Whiskey Business, we go down a few rabbit holes as well. All of it accompanied by a bottle of Bardstown Fusion #5.  Enjoy and as always thanks for listening and watching on YouTube.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Whiskey Business got a jump on Halloween with a live audience at 451 SPIRITS and our first LIVE Halloween Special.  Yes, we’ve had “spooky” guests in the past during the month of October, but this was the first time we’ve done it with a studio audience.  Enjoy Hope Madden and George Wolf talking about their soon-to-be seen movie, OBSTACLE CORPSE.  Stay riveted with E.R. Buckright, sharing tales of ghostly phenomenon from his new book, HAUNTED CEMETERIES OF OHIO. We wrap it up chatting with Jesse Hubbard, author and bartender extraordinary who made a special concoction for the evening and Chad Kessler of 451 Spirits as we enjoyed his BONE SHAKER whiskey throughout the night.  The show was great, the audience was fantastic and the night exceeded expectations.  Also…big thanks to GATTO’S PIZZA for supplying the all the pies! Scary good stuff.

Attorney Bret Adams and host of the podcast, Lawyers Are A**holes, joined Whiskey Business for a “spirited” chat about the problems with the legal system, being a sports agent and actually “buying a town” in order to help south eastern Ohio become a bourbon trail of its own.  A bottle of Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Rye loosened the chat up a little with hopefully nothing said that could be “used against us.”  Bret will most likely return as we just scratched the surface this time out, but until that return occurs enjoy the “good pours and good conversations.” Learn more about your ad choices. Whiskey Business went “dry” for only the second time in our history of podcasting, tossing a nod to those giving Sober September a shot and accommodating our guest, Jeff Gage who’s made a decision to stop drinking as well.  Good, hot coffee was served and provided the opportunity to discuss those times when drinking didn’t turn out so well. We’ve all been there. There was humor in the stories but also lessons in the mix as well. Sometimes it’s good to take a step back and see where you’ve been with booze and more importantly where you are. Hindsight CAN BE 20/20, but only if you able to see it. Enjoy a sobering Whiskey Business and take care of yourselves. We’ll be back with another good pour and conversation in the days to come.  Learn more about your ad choices. The Internet can be a helpful and wonderful place. But it can also serve as a platform for wicked and destructive deeds as well.  Peter Jon Ross, independent filmmaker, joined Whiskey Business to talk about his festival award winning documentary, SOCIAL MEDIA MONSTER. A still in-play-as-we-speak journey of an ongoing battle with an Internet Troll who’s wreaked his own personal havoc on Peter and countless others and continues to do so. It’s a fascinating story that will make you think twice before you “click” on something and maybe give you pause before you “send” something in return.  Learn more about your ad choices. Ok. We’re taking some liberties with the title of this week’s podcast, but not with our guest, Coyote Peterson.  The YouTube phenom and creator of Brave Wilderness graced us with an an amazing podcast that traced the roots of his success, the future of his wilderness enterprise and a few stops in between which include becoming crocodile snacks, Big Foot, the REAL dangers of his work and how what he does is so much more than just being bitten or stung by some bug, spider or creature.  And if everything goes to plan, Coyote may actually be taking Dino down a path that will force the Whiskey Business host to face a huge fear and phobia. We’ll see. Enjoy. And stay tuned…This adventure is just beginning.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Whiskey Business took a libation detour to focus on an upcoming “rum” release concocted by two gentlemen who know their spirits well: Chad Kessler of 451 Spirits and author and award winning bartender, Jesse Hubbard.  Chad who we affectionately refer to as the “mad scientist of distillers” in Columbus, Ohio joined forces with Jesse to create a new coffee infused rum that will delight any and all rum enthusiasts.  The story of how RAG & BONE came to its fruition and how two friends put it all together gives a whole new meaning to “demon rum.”   Check out this entertaining and thought provoking podcast that’s all about following your “muse” be it written, played, or in this case, eventually bottled and poured.  Learn more about your ad choices. You Never Forget Your First…Your first tattoo, that is. This week Whiskey Business went to TAT FRANKLIN and Dino got his first tattoo at 63 years of age and the whole procedure and conversation is on this podcast in real time, accompanied by a bottle of Master Distiller #1 from Jack Daniel’s (after I signed the paperwork granting permission.) Granted, Dino’s first tattoo wasn’t too elaborate or too intricate but it was appropriate: the molecular formula for whiskey. Mat picked out a cool manual typewriter font as well and Dino collects manual typewriters, so there was a lot of serendipity going on with this procedure. Give a listen or better yet- a view on YouTube and watch the whole thing unfold.  Get answers to questions you may have. Hear some outlandish tattoo stories, and watch Mat Franklin, a true master of his craft take you through it all.  Many thanks to Mat and his wife, Liz and Tat Franklin. They say tattoos are like potato chips and you can’t have just one. That may be true. Dino is already thinking of the next one. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Whiskey Business consisting of Dino Tripodis, Greg Hansberry and John Whitney, voluntarily went down their own rabbit hole this week talking about the Paramount Plus limited series THE OFFER.  It’s the 50th anniversary of the film The Godfather and The Offer tells the story about how one of the greatest films in history almost did not get made at all.  The boys separated the fact from the fiction, indulged in their favorite performances, and even attempted some bad impressions of famed producer, Robert Evans.  The Offer is Godfather candy and we ate it up. Enjoy what we enjoyed and check the series out for yourself if you haven’t done so already.  “Do it, booby. Trust me. It’s Grade A,” said the bad Robert Evans impersonator. Whiskey Business finally nailed down a conversation with comedian Kenny Mock, who’s been touring with fellow comedian and Tik Tok phenom, Jason Banks. To quote Jason, “Yeah, Kenny is getting too funny. He’s making my job harder.” One of the best compliments one comic can give another. The usually quiet and private Kenny opened up quite a bit with Dino, Greg and John and still kept bringing the funny as we covered family, life, how comedians source their material and if there’s such a thing as “unintentional racism” in these complicated politically correct times.  A great conversation accompanied by a bottle of Yellowstone Hand Picked Single Barrel made for great podcast that begs for Kenny Mock to return for another round of Whiskey Business.  Learn more about your ad choices. We certainly thought so as Dino and the Whiskey Business boys sat down with one of Dino’s oldest and best friends, Greg Dettorre.  The two friends will be celebrating their 45th class reunion later this year and took the opportunity to reminisce, pine and laugh for 90 plus minutes as they reviewed moments of their lives that seem liked they happened last week let alone 45 years ago.  Learn about “The Dognut Rule.” Who did Dino and Greg BOTH have a crush on but didn’t know until this podcast? What was “THE WALL?” And did you have a similar place growing up?  The guest bottle was also from the past: a bottle of Seagrams VO mixed with Fresca to capture the memory of what we thought were “cocktails” back in the day.  If you want to laugh, then listen or watch. If you want to remember fonder and easier times in your life, then listen or watch. Either way this installment of Whiskey Business is one for the Yearbooks! Enjoy! Learn more about your ad choices. No. Not jiggy. We’ve had enough of that this week. Dino and the Whiskey Business boys had an amazing chat with Jeb Bigelow, who some 30 years ago started his OWN awards show, THE JEBBY’S, which has now become a staple of recognition and achievement in the Central Ohio Theater community.  Picked entirely by Jeb there is no “BEST” awards. Instead there are “FAVORITES” and what’s more amazing is how many people now want the distinction and honor of winning one.  Jeb attends between 80 to 120 theater performances a year. A full time job which he is NOT compensated for. His real job? A pharmacist. Yup. We talk about that as well in this fun and insightful installment which also included some excellent pours from a one of a kind bottle of Old Forester Single Barrel/Barrel Strength Bourbon which was a private pick for the Columbus Italian Club. Oscar season is rolling around which meant another informative and entertaining podcast with our movie experts, George Wolf and Hope Madden.  Through the years their predictions have stayed in the 95 percentile of “nailing it” as to who would walk away with Oscar gold. But this year there’s an interesting twist as our usually “on the same page couple” split on what they think will be Best Picture. What did they pick? Why did they pick it? Hubbard paired 20 of his favorite punk rock bands with 20 unique cocktails to make and sip while you read. We also shared a bottle of Blue Note bourbon from Memphis, Tennessee which is quickly making a name for itself. They will be on the podcast in late May to talk more about their Memphis mix. This was also the return of “face to face” podcasting as we slowly get back to some sense of normalcy. Remote podcasts have been fun, but nothing compares to sharing a pour and conversation with friends in the same room. Enjoy this podcast. We sure as hell did. Cheers!

Dino and the boys had the pleasure of welcoming Pat Byrne of Byrne’s Pub to Whiskey Business to discuss a much anticipated St. Patrick’s Day a year after bars and restaurants were shut down, AND...his own Irish Whiskey BUA.

BUA made its debut last February in 2020, but when the world shutdown so did the opportunity to share this fine whiskey in bars and restaurants. A year later BUA is making a name for itself and deservedly so. This smooth drinking, triple distilled, non chilled filtered whiskey can stand tall amongst all the other Irish Whiskey favorites out there. BUA is Gaelic for “win” or “victory”. Yup. That makes good sense. Enjoy the BUA. Enjoy the podcast and stay safe people. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Whiskey Business kicks of 2021 with some remnants of 2020 as Billy Demora returns to address some of his rather accurate predictions that came to fruition the last time he joined us and also speculates on the weeks and months to come in respects to sports, politics and life as we live it in these still uncertain days. We also opened our 151st bottle on the show: Heaven Hill 7 year Bottled in Bond. That wasn’t predicted so much as planned. A great bottle if you venture out of Ohio and find one. Whiskey Business went on location this week to one of the last bastions of public opinion: a barber shop. Thom Checkler, owner of The Olde Village Barbershop in Worthington, Ohio talked about how the barbershop has always been a “safe place” for opinion, rhetoric and debate and also how that’s been slightly altered during the current pandemic. Thom and Dino covered a lot of ground while he was in the chair: family, politics, Covid, sports, and some surprising insights into religion. The World’s Most Superstitious Buckeye Fan, Bill DeMora returned for his 5th appearance on the podcast (which we humorously refer to as Cinco DeMora). But this year he is "The World’s Most Disappointed Buckeye Fan" since the Big Ten has postponed their season. Filled with opinions, rants, ravings and unsound reasoning, this may be one of Bill’s best appearances yet. Coupled with an election year in the wings and his work with the Democratic Party this podcast holds back nothing. Well...art least Billy doesn’t. James “Buster” Douglas, the former undisputed heavyweight champ of the world, joins us for this special episode of Whiskey Business. The Champ has entered a “new ring” of sorts with "Buster Douglas 42-1" a new bourbon bearing his name(42-1 were the odds against him when he shocked the world 30 years ago by defeating Mike Tyson for the heavyweight championship of the world). Dino and the boys talk about how the whiskey came to be a silver medal award winner in the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and of course about those odds and that legendary fight. Buster gets candid talking about his career, his family, the night he beat Tyson and his loss to Evander Holyfield. Whiskey Business is back with “The Fight Club” of the whiskey industry...black market bourbon, or what purchasers prefer to call the secondary market. The one thing you can say for certain about Whiskey Business is you truly never know where the podcast may go or who might be on it. The Red Tent Revival is the charitable brainchild of Za Unit and Julia O’Keefe who are also the musical duo Tickles and Pokes. Their organization strives to put an end to “Period Poverty” making feminine hygiene products available to those women who because of their economic situation can simply not afford them. They join the show to share how their efforts have culminated into the repeal of The Pink Tax in Ohio. Oh...and they played some surprising music on the podcast that caught us all off guard. Also returning to the podcast was our friend and comedian, Jason Banks who’s been releasing funny videos to lighten our emotional load almost daily during this pandemic. So...we give you some comedic punch, an end to period poverty, and of course the podcast you’ve come to love and never predict from one week to the next. All of it pondered and played out with a bottle of Western Reserve Bourbon Whiskey from Lakewood, Ohio. Whiskey Business mixes the sweet with the salty when we sit down with Charly Bauer from Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream. He traces the humble beginnings of how Jeni Bauer started this now nation wide franchise in Columbus, Ohio. From a failed beginning to a grand return that set the stage for a national phenomenon, the Jeni's story is a testament to success, perseverance, and a reminder that dreams are only as strong as the person who has them. Charly's delicious samples mixed well with our guest bottle of Minor Case Rye Whiskey. Yeah...straight rye whiskey and sweet Jeni's Ice Cream. It doesn't get much tastier than this.

Part podcast. Part comedy show. Part gameshow. You get it all when Whiskey Business presents The Premise recorded live on The Upfront Stage at Shadowbox Live in Columbus, Ohio. The Premise made its grand return on 1/16 and will be back on the third Thursday of the month through July. Two comedians are handed a “premise” they haven’t seen or heard until that night. Then they have 20 minutes to write 3-5 minutes of standup which they then perform in front of a live audience. Comedian Nickey Winkelman, a Shadowbox regular and one of the hosts of Quiz Box, returned to try and notch a win. She went up against Jeff Gage, one of Columbus’ best comedic improvisers and teachers of the craft. The results were a no-lose situation for the audience. Guest comic, Kenny Mock rocked the house and sat down for a one on one with host, Dino Tripodis. Kenny Mock is one of the hosts of the podcast Comedians on South High, a touring comedian and a regular performer on Norwegian Cruise Lines. An amazing night of comedy, conversations and unpredictable craziness awaits you. The Premise is back!

Whiskey Business welcomes back Arch Madness from the podcast Vinyl Analysis to talk about his 5 part series "Pantera. Dimebag. The Alrosa Villa. A Fan's Journey." His series revisits the mass shooting at the classic rock venue, The Alrosa Villa which took the life Darrell “Dimebag” Abbot and others. 12/8/19 marked the 15th anniversary of the tragedy. This episode isn’t all about that tragedy as Dino and the gang go down some other rabbit holes as well, including: Santa Claus, teen masturbation (no, they’re not related) all while sharing a bottle of Early Times Bottled in Bond bourbon. An appropriate bottle as we discuss good times and bad times on this week’s Whiskey Business.

November is Men’s Health Awareness Month, a month focusing on men’s prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s mental health issues. This week on Whiskey Business, Dino and his crew talked with a recent survivor and a current fighter. Dan Skinner, a professor at Ohio University is a survivor of testicular cancer. Russ Hubbard is currently battling Stage 4 prostate cancer. Both men had unique perspectives as to where they are and where they are going in their personal battles, both emotionally and physically speaking. As is the case, on Whiskey Business we discussed it all over a good pour of Old Scout 107 American Whiskey. While Russ wanted to partake, he could not as he had just gone through another round of chemotherapy that same afternoon. Both men were open and honest and quite frank about their battles. And yes, their was humor as it always seems to be a medicine we need no matter what the illness. It’s a special episode and one that everyone can relate to as sadly we all know someone who is fighting or maybe have lost someone in the battle. Please join us in sharing the awareness and in the process learn something about the human spirit. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
