My hot slice of wife, Simoné Streck, loves movies as much as I do. We had a delightful breakfast today at the Zesty Lemon and chatted about the arse-looseningly appalling shitfest that was Scream 5 & Scream 6.

Zesty Lemon in Stanford is a bit of a gem. Homey, warm, welcoming, and the food is brilliant. The florentine is awesome. Simmy's more of a benedict fan. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, and Henry Golding star in this weird comedy and it doesn't suck at all. Directed by Paul Feig, it kept my interest throughout - which you'll all learn is not easy to do.

The Story: We've all been through things. We’ve all been through the wringer at some point. Everybody on the face of the planet has suffered in some way or another. Some people struggle with big issues, some people struggle with the small little niggling issues that happen throughout the day. I am the “I Hate Small Issues” type of a person. When something major goes wrong or a cataclysm happens, or if there's a huge catastrophe, I can handle it and I am usually the one who makes sure that everything is sorted out. I can get people through it. On the other side, when a ton of small things happen. I can't handle it. It makes me crazy when I'm having one of those days - like this morning - where it's just little thing, after little thing, after little thing, going wrong. It's enough to make me want to chew my own feet off. I could just go berserk and never come back. Just this morning, I started to get my day going at 3am, because I had a call with that client cancelled at the last minute. It’s annoying, but life happens. I sat down to start creating content and realized that all of my batteries were flat. I was pretty sure I charged them, but apparently not. I switched the batteries. Then, I couldn't find the cable for my microphone. I eventually found it, and started recording. 20 minutes in, I noticed that my camera-mounted microphone had run out of batteries just enough that the LED was still lighting up, but nothing was getting recorded. As you can imagine, I was annoyed. I replaced the battery. Then I forgot to switch it on, and lost another half an hour. I wrote this to convey that things go wrong. A lot. I want to give you the most useful insight into how to deal with times like that. We can say, “I'm not doing this anymore. I'm not interested.” We can sulk. I know that I can get through it. I know all of these complications could be happening for a reason, but I don't really care, to be honest with you, because all I care about is that it is happening. “Why,” in this case, seems less important than “what.” Fix the issue, move on. How do I deal with it? I do a bunch of things, I suppose. I have a handful of coping techniques. Listen in for more information.

Spencer told us about Thomas, and I agreed to meet with him, along with two of my colleagues. I had a good feeling about Thomas from the start. He was focused, he was eager, and he was extremely honest - to the point of overdoing it. He was gigantic, too. A house of a gent, with muscles for days and a close buzzcut that gave off the distinct impression that this was a man who could have done some serious damage if he had wanted to. He was a weightlifter and seemed to grow even more during the time I knew him. Despite his intimidating stature, he was easy-going, kind, patient, thoughtful, and very slow to anger. Our first meeting covered some changes he would need to make, including to his choice of words - but nothing major. His cultural profanity was charming in a social setting, but may have lost us some clients. He understood that, and agreed not to use that language in store. We agreed he would be a good addition to the team and brought him on board. On his first day, he was on time, tidy, and helpful. He mucked in, asked questions, and got on well with everyone on the team - except for the assistant manager of the store, David. David had an issue with Thomas’ social grouping and proclaimed that “Chavs have no place in retail.” It’s a common slur aimed at the hip-hop-centric London youth culture. It’s offensive as slurs come, and did not sit well with Thomas. He came over to me and asked me what he should do about David. I advised him to not rise to the taunting, to learn to outperform David, and to keep telling me whenever these incidents occurred. For months, Thomas dealt with David’s disdain and offensive language. Despite many interventions with David and Thomas, nothing improved. David kept up the offensive slurs, and Thomas’ patience wore thin. Listen to the episode for more.
