The Assiniboine tribe was one of the first tribes to settle in North Dakota. They are known by a few different names such as the Stoney tribe or the Nakota tribe. The Assiniboine tribe was a well-known tribe because they were one of the largest tribes, containing around 10,000 men, women, and children. The animals mainly hunted were venison, elk, buffalo, and wild turkey. Their homes were made out of buffalo hides stripped of fur.
