In an effort to promote effective communication and ensure the optimal use of emergency services, Santa Fe County is launching an educational campaign to inform residents about the appropriate times to make non-emergency calls. From January 2023 to July 2023, the Santa Fe Regional Emergency Communications Center has handled a total of 223,997 calls. Of those calls, only 102,349 of them were dispatched for service. That means, 121,648 calls were not related to services needing emergent or non-emergent Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS, or Animal Control.

Indoor dining, salons, gyms and indoor shopping malls may open today on a limited basis and in accordance with required COVID-Safe Practices, in addition to drive-in movie theaters, nine additional state parks, and additional hotel capacity (up to 50%).

Reopening our economy is not an invitation to forget about the risks of this virus – it is a mandate that we be more cautious and careful about our choices and decisions than ever before. Just because you can go doesn’t mean you should. Ask yourself: Is this business operating with safe practices? When in doubt, err on the side of safety and stay home.

Mass gatherings and congregations are still unsafe and prohibited, and face coverings must be worn in public settings.

Santa Fe County to Allow Trash Disposal at No Charge

SANTA FE, NM – Santa Fe County continues to find ways to help county residents during the COVID-19 public health emergency. On Monday, April 20, 2020 County Manager Katherine Miller signed into effect a Notice of Action, calling for all punches on solid waste punch cards to end until further notice.

County staff will continue to document visitor’s names, valid punch card numbers, vehicle license plate numbers, confirm county residency, and follow all other laws, rules, and regulations at the Collection Centers. Please note, all centers have limited the number of vehicles allowed on the tipping floor and in the recycling center at a time, only one trip per day per resident is allowed, and punch cards are nontransferable and must be presented by the owner of the card. Bag Tags are not affected by this change.

If necessary, punch cards can be purchased by county residents Monday thru Friday at the Public Works Department from 10 a.m. to noon, the Treasurer’s Office at the Administrative Complex by appointment only, and the Pojoaque and Edgewood satellite offices on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon. Public Works and the satellite offices will not accept cash or cards, all payments must be in the form of a check or money order.

Santa Fe County understands the economic impact some residents may be facing at this time, and continues to assist in relief when possible. If you need additional Solid Waste information, please contact Les Francisco at 505-992-3068.
