In the second of todays double drops, we introduce you to Riri Williams, also known as Iron Heart. This exciting character began her life in Marvel History by reverse engineering the Iron Man suit and eventually went on to be a part of The Champions. This series picks up a little bit after her last fight while a member of The Champions. She is balancing her time between MIT and Chicago, and throughout all of this, someone is interested in her. Or more specifically, something... The Ten Rings.

Today we're dropping 2 episodes (to make up for missing a week of black characters and creators for Black History Month). Our first drop is "Far Sector", which drops a brand new Green Lantern out in the far reaches of the universe to look into the first murder in hundreds of years. This series is a 12 issue arc, but we'll only be covering the first half in depth, hoping that you will choose to pick up a copy for yourself and read this great addition to DC's lineup.
Jo (Sojourner) Mullein came from earth, where she went from Princeton to the military to the police force before she ended up on "The City Enduring" as a member of the Green Lantern Corps. She brings a very unique perspective to the pages of DC Comics, through the words of N.K. Jemisin and the art of Jamal Campbell, who you may remember from our coverage of "Naomi" a while back.
This is a great story that really challenges you to think more than your average superhero story. We hope you will read and enjoy it.

In today's episode, the first of our Black History Celebration, we cover the beginning of the 2016 Black Panther run, and also a quick synopsis of the beginning fo the 2018 story as well. (Haha, we had a bit of a mixup due to the similarities of the cover art for the two runs.)
This series is a bit different than many of the series we cover. There isn't as much superhero fighting. Instead there's a lot of different groups fighting for their views of what Wakanda needs most.

I can't believe we made it! 100 Episodes! (Well technically, we hit 100 a few episodes back, but early on we had a few mini-sodes that I didn't number, so it messed our numbering up, and for whatever reason, our "channel trailer" episode counts as #1 even though we considered it #0, so if you've been listening on Apple Podcasts, the number we've given episodes has never matched the A.P.#...Well, we're gonna rectify that starting with next episode, shifting to "Legacy Numbering"
Anyway, on today's episode, we'll break down our ratings/rankings of Phase 1 of the MCU with the score sheet Alex devised for us. Have you been watching and ranking along with us?
Then we'll check in on the questions we asked each other on the first few episodes, and then the 50th. "Host Favorites", and many of our answers have changed over the years.
And finally, one of our loyal listeners asked us to see how quick we could name 100 heroes and villains, in honor of the 100th episode. And let me tell ya', it took us embarrassingly long. Things are always more challenging when you're under the gun.

In Today's Episode, the first of 2022, we make our first entry into our "Spider-Month" Event here on 2 Man Comic Book Club, with "One More Day", a story that we feel has definite parallels to No Way Home.
Spider-Man's identity revealed, the world is out to get him, and when one specific enemy puts Aunt May in the hospital, Peter Parker has to do everything he can to save her. This is quite a story arc, with an ending that just might break your heart. We strongly recommend you read the stories before listening. Also, this episode contains some slight spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home, so be warned.

It is an intense story, not for the faint of heart, but if you feel up to it, it is an amazing story that we really think you should check out. When I we first covered the first few issues of Hawkeye a while back we mentioned that we might come back to it. I didn't finish it right away, but eventually I did, and I came across a three issue arc that I dubbed "The Grills Trilogy", or "Grillogy", and I felt we had to cover it. We ended up needing to cover a few additional issues to really capture the essence of an unsung hero of this series, Grills.
We recorded this the week before the Hawkeye Disney + show came out, (Spoilers for episode 2 coming in the next sentence) but when it turned out the guy that ended up with the Ronin costume at the LARP event was Grills, I got really sad. If you haven't read issue 9 of the Fraction Hawkeye run that we cover in this episode, you'll see why I was sad soon enough.

This story jumps around through all kinds of different points on the timeline, from the 1960's all the way to the 3400's. Smugglers transport all kinds of goods (and people) through time, for those willing to pay a small fortune. Today's episode is a short one. On the way back from a corporate filming gig, we decided to turn on the camera and discuss a few of the Twitter Superpower Polls from the past year.
As I said, we were driving while recording this so there is road noise. I did the best I could to reduce the engine and road noises, but there's only so much you can do. By the time we do one of these again, we might have a different mobile microphone setup that would make these a lot more pristine, but in the meantime, we hope you enjoy the impromptu episode.

In today's episode we dig into the lore of a character who has been on our radar for a while. Mister Miracle. We've covered Tom King before when we read Vision, so we knew we were in for a treat. This series deals a lot with the "New Gods", created by Jack Kirby. We will give a little background before we begin, but the more you know about them the better!
Mister Miracle, or Scott Free, is an escape artist (just like young Drew). He's escaped from all sorts of traps before. As the story begins it seems he's recovering from an escape that was rather rocky.
It's important to mention that this comic can be rather graphic, both in content and in the artist depiction of those events. If you or a loved one have any history or concern over the mention of suicide, this might be a comic series you will want to be careful with. Help is available. In todays episode, we close out the first arc of the 2020 Black Widow run. A lot of wild stuff happens, so we hope you're reading along with us, or at least enjoying the story as we talk through it!
Natasha has amnesia of sorts. She has forgotten her live as an Avenger/Spy/Former Assassin, and she has a new family, complete with fiancé and a son! Hawkeye and Bucky Barnes come to investigate and see what is going on. We find out a group of villains that have each been defeated or wronged by Natasha in the past have come together to plant her in a false, happy life, in order to torture her by taking it all away. But Yelena Belova, Hawkeye, and Bucky Barnes have all coming together to help her out.

With the new Black Widow movie makings its debut in theaters, we wanted to give Natasha Romanoff some love and cover the new ongoing series, which we really dig so far! We covered issue 1 in the last episode and today we jump in with #2 &3.

Well we planned a short hiatus during a busy time in 2 Man Land, and then the short hiatus became a little longer and then a little longer. Now, roughly 2 1/2 months later, WE'RE BACK!

Things got really hectic in 2 Man Land this week and we realized that if we didn't record an episode Wednesday Evening, we wouldn't be able to before release day. In episode 58, we jump way back in time to Flash #123 from 1961 to talk about a really important issue in comic book history, "Flash of Two Worlds", and the birth of the multiverse!!
We're trying to give a little backstory on Flash and Batman so we can work to cover "The Button" soon, which is all about different timelines/multiverses, so we wanted to go to the source.

It took a while but I finally made it to the CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover between Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, and Black Lightning.
I know it happened basically a year ago, but I was behind and I just now made it. Right after finishing I knew I wanted to talk about the different Earths that were presented in the lead up and the aftermath.
This contains massive spoilers for the shows, so if you are hoping to be surprised once you reach the Crisis crossover yourself, I would advise you to skip this episode and come back once you've watched it.
In this episode I didn't set out to discuss the overall plot of the story, but important points are discussed nonetheless.
I personally loved the crossover and how it tipped it's hat to so many different DC franchises.

In Episode 31, part 3 of our PHOX coverage, we cover what might be my favorite comic book that I read last year. If you haven't listened to episode 29 and 30, I highly recommend that you go back and listen to those first so that nothing is spoiled with this episode!
Issue 2 of HOX drops a bombshell on the X-Men continuity and I love it so much! So many questions are posed that will clear up some story bits from the previous issues, but at the same time, make you wonder about so many others.

On the way back from our #2ManRoadTrip to Oklahoma City to watch an NBA game between Oklahoma City Thunder and the Boston Celtics I had a question for Alex so I pulled out my portable mp3 recorder and we recorded our discussion.
If you had to pick a specific superhero based universe to live in, which would it be? Marvel? DC? Another Indie realm?
It ended up being a pretty fun conversation.
