Hey everyone- this was a busy weekend for me on multiple ends. So I knew in advance that I would not have a "mornings" episode prepared and ready for publication this morning. Thus, I recorded my Nehemiah 4 teaching, from the Adult Bible class I taught this past Sunday. It is my goal to ensure that I upload content four times a week... so this will have to do for this Monday morning.
There is a lot of good stuff we covered in this Nehemiah teaching including that of-- Can Christians curse their enemies? What's the difference between cursing and praying prayers of justice? Can you love your enemies and still pray for justice to come upon them? Also, how should we respond when faced with any type of opposition when doing the work of the Lord? All these things are covered in today's teaching so I hope you enjoy it!

This recording cuts out at around the hour and ten min mark. My entire teaching was an hour and twenty minutes long, and so the final ten minutes of the teaching is lost unfortunately-- yet there is still lots of good material we cover in the time that was recorded. I wanted to upload this teaching, because it is an important one pertaining to what many believe is one of the most controversial passages in the book of Romans. Enjoy! As I mentioned in my update recording-- our 1 Samuel study is being put on hold for this week. But I thought I'd upload my Romans 1:1-17 teaching that I recorded at my church a couple Sundays ago. Praying you are blessed by it!
Today's episode picks up the exciting narrative of Gideon, and how the Lord used him to deliver the Israelites from Canaanite control. See how Gideon struggled in his faith for a little bit-- before leading an army of 300 men into an enemy camp consisting of thousands. As always-- there will be many life applications for us to learn along the way.
I'm back! And we are ready to pick it up in Judges chapter 5, where we will examine The Song Of Deborah, and also get into the first half of chapter 6, which introduces us to the narrative of Gideon. Both of these stories deal with a recurring theme; obeying the calling of God, even when you may feel weak or outnumbered. Do you believe that the Lord is calling you to a particular battle right now? Is there a challenge that the Lord wants you to take on? If that's you-- then today's podcast will hopefully be of encouragement to you.
Attention: Next week, I will be taking a break from the podcast, but we will pick up our study the following week. This week's episode will deal with rather dark and violent subject matter-- so brace yourself! We will first look at the demise of Eglon King of the Moabites, by the hand of Ehud, one of the judges that God raised up within Israel. Then in chapter two, we will be introduced to Deborah-- one of the most well known female figures in both the Old Testament and the rest of Scripture. As always there will be many life applications for us to learn along the way. God bless you!
Today we are starting the book of Judges! We will begin with an introduction to the book-- it's historical setting, date, etc.-- and then we will dive into the first two chapters. There are lots of very important things for us to learn right from the outset of this book-- so you don't want to miss this week's study.
Today's episode will cover the final three chapters in Joshua. We'll read of a very interesting episode involving a great misunderstanding between different tribes of the Israelites. In addition to this, we will see Joshua's final farewell address to the people of Israel before his address. As always there will be many life applications for us to learn along the way!
The title of this podcast probably makes it clear that today we're gonna be covering one of those sections of Scripture that are more monotonous and repetitive. Yet, skipping over this portion of Joshua would cause us to miss out on some great theological insights for our Christian walk. We will do more of a skim over-- through these chapters-- instead of going verse by verse. Caleb's faithfulness will be focused on-- along with a number of other important things. Today's show will be a little bit shorter- than usual. It's been a pretty busy week for the West Coast Bible Teacher. But even so-- we will be finishing up studying through the great military journey of the Israelites under Joshua's leadership. This by no means will conclude the book of Joshua-- but rather we will be finishing up the narrative of the conquest of Canaan. As always there will be many life applications for us to learn along the way!
Today's episode will cover two interesting narratives. First, we will cover the deception put forth by the men of Gibeon. What were they trying to convince Joshua and the people of Israel? How can learning about their deceptive ways teach us about dealing with wolves in sheep's clothing today? Going forward we will then get into the famous story of the Sun and the Moon standing still. Is this an account meant to be taken literally, or is such too far fetched? All of these details and many more, will be covered in today's teaching!
Within today's episode, we will see how often the Lord will allow us to experience moments of humility and weakness, after attaining great victories in our Christian walk. How can the story of Achan apply to our Christian walk today? Did victory over Jericho serve to humble the Israelites or exalt confidence in their mere human strength? All these details and many more, will be covered in today's teaching.
This week, we will get into the famous and exciting narrative of Jericho's destruction. What spiritual applications can Christians get from God's instructions to Joshua during this event? What can we make of the disturbing descriptions of genocide that follow the destruction of Jericho? All these things and many more, will be discussed on today's podcast.
In this week's episode, the Israelites finally arrive at the Jordan River--- the great body of water which is the only thing separating them and the promised land (not counting all the pagan nations they now have to fight against). How can the account of the Jordan crossing, apply to our Christian walk today? We will discuss these things and many more, in today's teaching.
Very excited to dive into the book of Joshua! Today, we will provide an introduction and overview of the major themes of the book, and then we will move through chapters 1 and 2. How are Christians supposed to respond to the rather hostile depictions of God within the book of Joshua? Can our God be both a God of love, and a God of judgement? Also, was Rahab committing a sin, when she lied to the men of Jericho? All these details, and many more will be explored in this week's teaching!
This week's study, finally wraps up our journey through the book of Deuteronomy. We will learn about the poetic Song of Moses found within chapter 32-- and how the poem not only serves as a warning, but also as a prophetic utterance that Moses is delivering to the people. We then will read of the blessing that Moses imparts upon the Israelites-- as well as his subsequent death-- and the interesting details surrounding his passing. Praying that you are blessed by today's teaching!
We are almost finished with our study in Deuteronomy! This week, we'll be reading of Moses' appointment of Joshua-- to take over leading the Hebrews into the promised land. We'll also touch on a number of other interesting things including prophetic foreshadowing that is found within the book of Deuteronomy-- concerning the future of Israel. Enjoy this week's teaching!
Today we're only getting through two chapters-- but there is a lot that is covered within our study this week. We will read of the ceremony that was to take place amongst the Israelites upon arriving at the promised land, to affirm all the stipulations that Moses established for the covenant. Then we will read of the proclamations of blessings and curses that correlated with obedience to the covenant. This will actually take us into an examination of the parable of the Ten Virgins and the Parable Of The Talents. Praying that you are blessed by today's teaching!
In this week's episode-- we're covering all sorts of topics-- including Moses's stipulations on divorce. At the end we will wrap up chapter 26 of Deuteronomy-- which marks the end of this rather long section that deals with the many laws, rules, and regulations of the Mosaic Covenant. Hello Everyone! It is good to be back, after what turned out to be an unforeseen two weeks off from podcasting. Life hit me hard-- but it is good to be back, continuing our study in Deuteronomy. This week we get through chapters 21-23, and we'll be covering a wide variety of laws and regulations-- as Moses continues his long admonition to the second generation of Israelites.
Hey everyone-- I'm so sorry, but yet again, I am postponing the podcast for next week. Keep me in prayer-- things are fine. But it has just been one of those months. Pray though that the Lord continues to have His hand upon this ministry. I'm feeling good and confident about the future. James 5:16.
As made obvious with the title of today's podcast-- there will be lots discussed this week as we move through three chapters in Deuteronomy. Quick overviews will be given by Moses concerning multiple different things-- including-- the stipulations for those claiming to be prophets of God, the purpose of the cities of refuge, and also how the Israelites were to conduct themselves towards the various pagan cities that they would come across in their travels.
We cover a lot of ground today (though only getting through two chapters this time)-- as I will open with touching on what we discussed on last week's podcast; 1 Corinthians 6, and Paul's instructions concerning church disputes. Then we'll move into Deuteronomy 16, which gives us a recap of the feasts the Israelites were to celebrate, most of which commemorated their deliverance out of Egypt. Afterwards, we will learn about the chain of command within the judicial system-- and we'll end with looking at God's requirements for the Kings who would reign over Israel.
We will be covering lots of incredible information in today's podcast teaching-- from the punishments for leading family members into idolatry-- to learning how remembering who we are in Christ, is the key to overcoming our desire to sin. Within today's study, we continue reading through the promises and admonitions that Moses is giving to the Hebrew people. Our podcast this week will take us to various sections of the Scripture, including the rich man and Lazarus, and the story of Elijah. Though the text of Deuteronomy can at times be repetitive, there is stills as always lots of wonderful applicational material for us to gain from in this week's Bible study. Be blessed!
Within today's Bible study, we're covering Moses's warnings against the sin of pride. God was giving the Israelites assurance and certainty that they WOULD be successful in destroying their enemies. But they were not to perceive their success as being because of their own power, might, or righteousness. There are many ways in which this can be applied to our own Christian walk. We'll learn these things, and many more, in today's teaching.
Within today's episode we will take a hard look at the prophetic admonitions given by Moses in chapter 4 of Deuteronomy-- concerning the nation of Israel. Can we find allusions to the end times within this fascinating passage? Are there any parts of Scripture that tell us if God still has a future plan for ethnic Israel? Has the church replaced Israel? These things will be examined in today's study. We will also see Moses give the Hebrews a recap of the Ten Commandments-- and part of today's podcast will allow us to look into the parable of the Sower found in the Gospel narrative.
Within our final study of handling Narcissistic people in this life, we will focus more on how to deal with the pain/aftermath of experiencing Narcissistic abuse. How can we grapple with the fact that those who've hurt us, don't appear to be suffering the consequences of their actions. This will be the crux of what we talk about today, in our final study of handling Narcissistic individuals.
We will be covering lots of exciting information in this week's episode. Just as the Israelites were able to break down the walls and gates of the pagan cities they invaded-- we will learn how WE as Christians can break down the strongholds within our lives. Also, who was Og King of Bashan? Do Bible scholars ACTUALLY believe that fallen angels procreated with human women back in Genesis 6? All these details and many more, will be covered in this week's teaching.
I'm back everyone! Thank you for your prayers and patience as I took a break from teaching last week-- while dealing with some busy things happening in my life. Today we're getting back into our study on dealing with Narcissists-- and how we are to look at this from a biblical perspective. This week we will begin looking at how we as Christians can and should respond to Narcissists who we come in contact with in our everyday lives. Instead of focusing so much on Narcissistic people and how they behave-- today's study will be focused more on ourselves, and how we as Christians can cope with dealing with such difficult people.
We are starting the book of Deuteronomy today! In our first study-- we'll have a brief introduction to the book, and what we can expect to learn from it in the coming weeks. Then we will read through the first two chapters-- where Moses recounts to the New Generation both the great failures and victories that they had experienced up to that point. A great emphasis is placed upon the grace of God to the Hebrews-- and we will learn how this can be applied to our lives.
In today's episode we are continuing our study on the biblical ways of dealing with Narcissistic people. We will touch on everything from hiring Narcissists to how one should operate when working under a Narcissistic supervisor. Praying that you are blessed by today's teaching! Hurray! We have reached the end of Numbers--- and this week we are finishing up the final six chapters, which cover everything from the war against the Midianites, to cities of refuge. As always we will have plenty of life applications to learn along the way! Today's shorter study will be the first of perhaps a few that will be focusing on the subject of handling those who are deemed as, "Narcissists." Have you ever come in contact with a Narcissist? Are you dealing with one right now in your life? Believe it or not-- the Bible actually gives us solid information as to how we can and should conduct ourselves when engaging with these kinds of people. Perhaps this study can serve as a blessing to you-- if you currently are-- or maybe one day in the future-- dealing with a Narcissistic person.
This will be our second to last study in Numbers. We are almost there! This week we will learn about the second numbering that took place nearly forty years after the first census was conducted. What was so fascinating about the total number of younger Israelites? Also, what made Joshua such as fantastic contender to replace Moses as leader in Israel? All of these things and many more, will be discussed in today's teaching.
In this week's shorter study, we will look at a passage that some consider to be one of the most famous of the NT. It's Paul's exhortation concerning the renewal of our minds, which is found in the first two verses of Romans 12. How does renewing our minds connect with knowing God's will? What does any of this have to do with our worship towards God? All these things and many more-- will be examined in today's 15 min. study.
This week's study in Numbers will be finishing up the narrative of Balaam and Balak. Will Balaam finally cave to the king of Moab's request to curse Israel? Or will God cause the opposite to occur? These details and many more will be covered in today's teaching. Also-- we will cover a rather brutal and disturbing account in chapter 25-- and will see how it relates to the seriousness of Israel's apostasy against God.
Listen Up! God has commissioned you to a special purpose and calling! Learn about this, in today's 15 minute Bible study-- where we will explore the first eight verses of Isaiah chapter 6, and learn about how the prophet's initial call to the ministry correlates with OUR calling as followers of Christ.
This week, we're slowing it down a bit-- only going through two chapters-- both of which deal with fascinating subject matter. First we'll learn about the plague of snakes which was released upon the Hebrew people for their constant complaining-- and then we will get into the narrative of Balaam and Balak. Why do scholars have a hard time concluding whether or not Balaam was a sincere believer? Are there Messianic implications with the brass snake that Moses constructed to heal those who were bitten by the serpents? All these details and many more will be discussed in today's teaching.
Just FYI-- these 10-15 minute Bible studies will officially be scheduled for Wednesday-- with the exception of certain rare weeks where I need to post on a Tuesday. But anyways-- this episode will be a brief look at the suffering that Job experienced--- and the perspective that he hung onto during this time of pain. Perhaps you are going through a difficult trial right now. I hope and pray that this podcast will serve as an encouragement to you--- so that you stand strong, and hold onto your faith in the midst of difficulty.
Today's episode will cover a wide variety of things-- the affirmation by God of Aaron's authority over the priesthood, the special ordinance that was conducted after a person was made unclean by a dead body, and then the great disobedience of Moses which famously resulted in him being prohibited from entering into the promised land. We are nearing the end of Numbers-- but there is still lots to learn! I hope and pray that everyone has been enjoying the study so far!
This week's shorter study-- will take us through the second portion of Paul's exhortation to the Ephesians concerning spiritual warfare. We will read through verses 14-17 which describe the full armor of God-- and will breakdown each piece of the amor-- and what it means to wear them within each day of our lives.
This week-- we will be focusing primarily upon the fascinating narrative involving Korah-- and dozens of other men-- who were plotting to overthrow Moses and Aaron from their positions of authority. Did these men have any legitimate reason for being unsatisfied with their positions within the camp of Israel? Also, how can this narrative relate to our Christian walk? Such details, and much more, will be covered in today's Bible study.
This week's 15 min. Bible study will focus in on the subject of the full armor of God-- as written of by Paul in Ephesians 6. We will be covering a wide variety of subjects in this week's podcast teaching-- since we are moving through five chapters-- most of which still deal with the preparation that the Israelites went through before Leaving Sinai. We'll be covering everything from husbands suspecting their wives are cheating-- to the law of the Nazarite-- to the cloud and pillar of fire that would guide the Israelites on their journey to the promised land. Today, we will be going through a brief introduction to the book of Numbers, followed by an exploration through the first 4 chapters of the book. We will learn about what the Hebrew people titled the book a long time ago, and the significance of this. If they took heed to His Word, He would bless them-- but if they rebelled against his commands, they would be sent into exile. In this week's episode, we will be reading through the serious punishments that were waiting for those who transgressed against the laws that God had laid out in chapters 18 and 19 of Leviticus. As we continue our study in Leviticus this week, we will wrap up the detailed overview of the offering procedures which were conducted by the priests.
