The record label Kscope was created in May 2008 to provide a home for the growing post-progressive genre and an evolving, flexible and adventurous style of music without boundaries.
In recent years, a growing movement of bands has started to reclaim and reinvent aspects of the progressive, post-punk and post-rock genres, re-establishing a desire to experiment with eclectic musical sources and state of the art widescreen sonic possibilities. Kscope was created to provide a home for this evolving and adventurous style of music without boundaries, and was launched in 2008 with new albums from its first signings The Pineapple Thief and No-Man. New albums have since followed from the legendary likes of Anathema, Steven Wilson, Porcupine Tree/Japan keyboard player Richard Barbieri, highly rated newcomers North Atlantic Oscillation and Lunatic Soul (the solo project from Riverside's Mariusz Duda). In addition to these releases the Kscope catalogue also now contains a series of deluxe reissues of classic albums from Porcupine Tree, The Pineapple Thief, Blackfield and No-Man.

Believe it or not, it has been 10 years since the release of Bruce Soord of The Pineapple Thief released his self-titled debut album, in honour of this Kscope are releasing a half speed remaster, of the original. It was worked on at Abbey Road Studios and will be on sale from today (30th May)
Our host Billy Reeves went to visit Bruce in his studio to hear about how he feels about the record a decade later and who he sites as supporting him along the way, plus there is a podcast exclusive acoustic performance from Bruce.
Tracks you will hear:
To coincide with the release of the Envy Of None album “Stygian Wavs”, our host Billy Reeves hears from Singer and lyricist Maiah Wynne about her thought processes and influences when writing and recording new work, and some sage advice for fellow women in the music industry.
We also caught up with guitarist Alex Lifeson, this is where you will find out where the album title and indeed the band name came from and how his style has evolved.
Overall we learn how the band came to be and how it is growing from strength to strength as they learn how each other work.
The new album is out now

In this episode we were lucky enough to catch up with two Kscope artists who both have new music to share with us.
Firstly, we hear from Iamthemorning's virtuoso pianist Gleb Kolyadin who is celebrating the release of his solo album Mobula which takes listeners on a journey through cosmic landscapes, where imagination transforms the ordinary.
Then our host Billy Reeves chats with Colin Edwin (ex Porcupine Tree) about the upcoming album from his band O.R.k, who have been teasing this release with singles for the last 6 months so it really is a long awaited release!
The new album Firehose of Falsehoods marks another chapter in the band’s ever-evolving exploration of progressive, alternative, and art rock and captures O.R.k.’s signature mix of spontaneity, intricacy, and supreme musicianship.
As this is the first podcast of the year, we are celebrating all things new!
We will hear from Jonathan Hultén about his new album which is out this week and hear about his experience of touring with The Cult recently.
There is a new album from Envy Of None on the way, so we hear the latest single from them.
You will also hear the new track from O.R.k which has arrived in the lead up to their new album in March, plus Gleb Kolyadin has a new album coming out, he is the piano genius from iamthemorning and this is the first music he has recorded in the UK.
Finally, if that’s not enough we also have a new live recording from TesseracT, recorded at their performance last year at Radar festival.
Track list:
Envy of None – Stygian Waves
Jonathan Hultén – Afterlife
Jonathan Hultén - Riverflame
Gleb Kolyadin – Dawnlight
O.R.k – The Other Side
TesseracT – Tender (Live at Radar 2024)

Join us in a celebration of the Kscope Hits and highlights of 2024, as host Billy Reeves revisits his chats with the likes of:
Amos Williams (TesseracT)
Mike Vennart (Oceansize/Biffy Clyro)
Vincent Cavanagh (The Radicant, Anathema)
Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree/O.R.k.)
Tim Bowness (No-Man/Henry Fool)
Nick Beggs (Kajagoogoo/Mute Gods/Steven Wilson/Trifecta)
Bruce Soord (The Pineapple Thief)
Plus! New music for 2025 from Gleb Kolyadin and Jonathan Hultén
Thanks for another year of supporting our Podcast and we will see you on the other side, Happy New Year!
This month we catch up with Mike Vennart of Oceansize, a timely chat ahead of our reissue of the momentous and cinematic “Frames”, but not just a standard reissue, we have of course given it the Kscope treatment, it is presented on gatefold 3LP and includes extra tracks and rarities plus unseen photos.
Nowadays Mike enjoys success with his latest project Empire State Bastard as well as touring with Biffy Clyro, But host Billy Reeves asks him to go back in time and reflect about his time with the hugely influential Oceansize and even wonders what it would take to get them back on the road.
PLUS the latest single from O.R.k and a reminder that The Pineapple Thief are hard touring in the USA so we thought their topically named single Election Day deserved a spin!
An episode packed with treats (no tricks) to celebrate Halloween. We have a couple of spooky teasers for you as Envy Of None release a new single which sets the tone for things to come from them and you’ll hear the most recent release from Jonathan Hultén, who is currently on tour in the UK in support of The Cult while he builds momentum to his forthcoming album in January.
We hear from Bruce Soord about the thoughts behind the upcoming The Pineapple Thief EP before they head off on tour in the USA.
And as if that wasn’t enough, we also mark the 10th Anniversary of “Distant Satellites” by Anathema, which is being released on sparkle Vinyl plus the beautiful remaster of a collaboration between Mariusz Duda and Steven Wilson on the 10th anniversary of “The Old Peace” penned by late Alec Wildey which is getting it’s digital debut through Kscope.
In this bumper episode we hear from Colin Edwin of O.R.k about their latest run of releases and since we also spoke to Richard Barbieri we took the opportunity to talk to them both about their time in Porcupine Tree and what it was like during the making of Fear Of A Blank Planet, a timely chat ahead of the release of and a 116 page hardback book 5 disc edition packed with rarities.
Plus, Andy, Phil and Clark from the newest band to the label, Ihlo, talk to Billy Reeves about their excitement of having their debut album “Union” get the Kscope treatment with a beautiful CD and double LP out this week which is remastered by Acle Kahney of TesseracT. Ihlo are on tour this Autumn and getting along to see that will be a decision you will not regret!
As we reach the end of summer in the UK, TesseracT are coming to the end of the latest leg of their mega tour which was in support of their album War of Being (which incidentally is a year old this week) so we thought we would have an overdue catch up with bassist Amos Williams about life on tour away from loved ones, making up for lost time and future plans.
This week also sees the release of "Powder Dry" the long awaited new album from Tim Bowness so we thought his song "Summer Turned" would be well placed in this episode falling on the cusp of Autumn.
You will also hear from The Radicant, Storm Corrosion and our most recent additions to Kscope IHLO
Kscope are releasing the debut EP by The Radicant who you may know as Vincent Cavanagh, the former frontman of Anathema.
The Radicant is a solo project of sorts which includes collaborators from many disciplines, informed in part by Vincent’s composition work for recent multi-media installations by fine artists; so this is pop music presented as aural sculpture.
The EP is out now, so it was time for Billy Reeves to catch up with the man himself, in a Grade II listed north London church, recommissioned as London’s newest art gallery. Where else?!
Join us for episode 171 of the Kscope where our host Billy Reeves catches up with Tim Bowness ahead of his upcoming album “Powder Dry” which is out on 16th August.
We will hear about his influences, collaborations and future plans and why he decided that Kscope was the label for him.
There is also an opportunity to hear the first single from the highly anticipated EP from Ex Anathema front man Vincent Cavanagh’s new incarnation “The Radicant”

THE TIME IS NOW for… The all new BIG SOUND
Empyre and Klone have been scheming and plotting during lockdown (and the worst of the pandemic) and are now fit and ready to go! We hear from Henrik from the former on how they approach gigs both small and large as one has to at this point, i.e. festival crowds and support slots in big rooms, and. conversely. entertaining the packed sweaty club gigs.
We sent Kscope’s roving reporter Tris to catch up with Klone backstage (at the De La Warr Pavilion, one of the most quintessentially English venues), for some important advice on the advantages of the singer doubling up as the merch guy.

Episode #154 - Into the Woods with Jonathan Hultén
The pandemic accelerated the internet as a portal for musicians, but you need visuals too. No one does that better than guitarist, performer, songwriter, and animator JONATHAN HULTÉN. During lockdown as many retreated inward, he got outside and performed to the trees.
The music from those sessions is out now as an audio + visual album, on vinyl, CD & DVD.
Jonathan talks to Billy Reeves about Swedish roaming law, ‘The Forest Sessions’ and what he plans next…
Plus new singles from EMPYRE and KLONE, news of some excellent releases next door and, in keeping with the forest theme, some classic PORCUPINE TREE…

What is a “half-speed master”? Can artificial intelligence write a hit? How have Gazpacho stayed together for 25 years? Are Norwegian winters that bad? Why are we obsessed with authenticity in art? Is the first time Roland Barthes has been mentioned on the Kscope podcast? All these questions answered by Thomas Anderson of Gazpacho, as the band are well into their vinyl audiophile re-issue campaign. Tunes from same, and a new Anathema half-speed master, a new-to-vinyl O.R.k, and a new signing…
A long chat on the Kscope sofa with COLIN EDWIN, who you may know best as the bassist of PORCUPINE TREE as there’s a new O.R.k. album out entitled SCREAMNASIUM out now. The band features award-winning vocalist/composer LEF, KING CRIMSON’s PAT MASTELOTTO and the unique guitar of CARMELO PIPITONE as well as Col’s bottom end.

Why don't you run screaming from the cinema during a horror movie? Why rescue a baby on the train tracks? Just what is it deep inside your psyche that's controlling you? Why ON EARTH would anyone want to make a concept album based on a play by Ibsen? All these questions and more answered by Thomas Anderson of GAZPACHO in response to just the one question posed by Billy Reeves which was "so what's the album about, man?"
Three sections of the mega track from 'Fireworker' - the new Gazpacho LP - are interspersed with the philosophical conundrums explored within by the aforementioned Anderson,

Los Santos City Map featured in Grand Theft Auto V
With Recurring Dreams, the new generation of Tangerine Dream pay homage to the band's timeless beginnings with captivating and emotional renditions of selected classics, such as "Phaedra", "Stratosfear", "Tangram" and "Yellowstone Park". These new recordings are not just re-recorded covers but heartfelt and individual interpretations, featuring all generations of synths and sequencers, added layers and new arrangements, applying Froese's new quantum dream to these highly influential tracks. Recurring Dreams also includes the new version of "Claymore Mine Stalking" that was used in the popular 2018 black metal movie Lords of Chaos.
Tangerine Dream have been a fundamental influence on electronic music since Edgar Froese founded the band in West Berlin, 1967. Providing the groundwork for multiple electronic music genres including ambient and electronica, inspiring musicians and other art forms, from The Future Sound of London to Porcupine Tree, the widely popular TV show Stranger Things (for which their music also featured in) to seminal video game Grand Theft Auto V (for which they helped to write the soundtrack). The group have also received seven Grammy nominations, written over 100 studio albums and were led by Froese, who developed an instantly recognisable synth-based instrumental music based on a meditative musical experience that came to prominence in the 70s and 80s. Fast-forward to the present day, when popular culture is rediscovering synthesizers and sequencers, and Tangerine Dream are in the mix of an exciting time for an evolving electronic music scene.

The Silent Flight of the Raven Winged Hours' is a bonus track on Daniel Cavanagh's album - Monochrome/Colour (special edition). Order/ save now: https://DanielCavanagh.lnk.to/Monochr...
Inspired by internal feelings of love and loss, Monochrome is a deeply reflective and personal offering. Cavanagh elaborates: “The album has a late night, candlelit feeling, evoking the light of dusk as the summer sun sinks below the horizon, setting the scene for thoughts and meditations that many people will relate to. A lot of this material could easily have made it on to the last Anathema album or any future album; that's how highly the band rate it. There are several highlights: "The Exorcist" and "The Silent Flight of the Raven Winged Hours" are among some of my best works of the last decade. Taking them from the band was not an easy decision but I am glad; they're so personal as to not need more input.”
Monochrome features Anneke Van Giersbergen – ex-vocalist for The Gathering, who has since sung with Devin Townsend, Árstíðir, Anathema and Arjen Lucassen – and the exceptionally talented Anna Phoebe provides violin on three of the album tracks. Recorded at Grammy Award-winning Parr Street Studios, engineered by Andrea Wright, mastered by Anathema’s Daniel Cardoso, and with artwork by illustrator Danny Branscombe, this album is a special addition to the Kscope family. Released as a CD presented in a digipack packaging complete with a 12-page booklet.
JONATHAN HULTÉN releases the first single & video for “The Mountain”
Taken from his debut solo album Chants From Another Place Due for release on Kscope – 13th March 2020
JONATHAN HULTÉN, the darkly enigmatic Swedish Grammy-winning songwriter has released the first single & video for track “The Mountain” taken from his debut solo album Chants From Another Place, due for release on Kscope on 13th March.
“The Mountain” taken from is a potent yet minimalistic ode to loss and hope. Telling a tale of soul in distress, goes forth on a journey and faces death, transformation and rebirth is accompanied by a stunningly emotive animated video, created by JONATHAN HULTÉN himself, taking visual influence from the likes of Tolkien, Tove Jansson and art nouveau illustrator Aubrey Beardsley.

The “stupidest album ever released by a pop group” according to chart-topping singer-songwriter Paul Draper, is his own sophomore effort ‘Six’ from his band Mansun. Hear Paul’s memories of a sprawling literate-prog meisterwerk paid for by The Beatles’ label; The Doctor from Doctor Who, the world’s leading glass orchestra, and Eric Clapton’s beans on toast. Does he like it, 21 years on? “It’s too early to say”, apparently…
