Ty Javos is a Canadian actor, director, producer, and writer based in Vancouver, BC. Known for his prominent roles in Punjabi cinema, Ty has made a significant mark with performances in films such as Jindua (2016) and Snowman (2022). His diverse talent extends beyond acting, with his short films and music videos being featured at numerous prestigious festivals, including The Rio Grindfest, Toronto Off-lift Him Festival, and The Oniros Film Awards.
In addition to his artistic endeavors, Ty serves as the Vancouver Short Film Festival Outreach Coordinator, where he plays a vital role in promoting and supporting emerging filmmakers. He is also an outspoken advocate for mental health and recovery, using his lived experiences to profoundly influence his art and engage with audiences on important social issues.
A graduate of the University of Gloucestershire in England, Ty continuously pursues his passion for storytelling through various mediums, contributing richly to both the local and international film industries. With over 100 theatre and stage credits to his name, Stuart has been acting and occasionally singing on stage and in film since his teenage years. Shortly after arriving, he discovered a sense of community at the Workshop Theatre, where he served on the board for ten years, including four years as President.Stuart is committed to continually honing his craft and has taken advanced acting classes with renowned instructors such as Dr. Mark Schoenberg, Chantal Perron, Joe Norman Shaw, and others. His notable awards include the Best Supporting Actor Award for his role as Tommy Quick in Norm Foster's Bedtime Stories and the Best Actor Award for George in David Mamet's The Duck Variations.Some of Stuart's favorite roles include Richard Nixon in the stage play Frost/Nixon, Caldwell B Cladwell in Urinetown: The Musical, and Uncle in Fargo Season 5. Once upon a time, in the year 2019, a young woman named Harjeet found her life taking an unexpected turn. She had been trying to conceive a child with her partner for several months, but their efforts were in vain. Confronted with the growing worry and doubt, Harjeet decided to seek out the help of a fertility specialist.
It was in the sterile environment of the doctor's office where Harjeet's heart sank with the weight of the specialist's words. Her fertility had been compromised, and she had gone into early menopause. The news struck her like a sledgehammer, shattering her dreams of starting a family. Tears streamed down Harjeet's face as she struggled to process this devastating blow. She couldn't help but question if an earlier diagnosis could have preserved her chances of becoming a mother through egg freezing.
As Harjeet grappled with the reality of her infertility, her journey took an even more harrowing turn. She found herself sitting in the bustling offices of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, surrounded by a team of medical experts. They outlined a plan of action that involved aggressive chemotherapy sessions every week throughout January and February 2020. The objective was to induce partial remission in preparation for a stem cell transplant.
The weight of the upcoming battle pressed upon Harjeet's shoulders, but she refused to let it consume her entirely. She had always been a fighter, a resilient soul, and she was not about to let cancer defeat her spirit. Supported by her loved ones and the unwavering dedication of her medical team, Harjeet steeled herself for the road ahead.
The chemotherapy sessions proved to be arduous and physically demanding. The toxic chemicals surged through Emily's veins, leaving her feeling drained, weak, and nauseous. The sight of her hair falling out in clumps only served as a stark reminder of the battle she was facing. But Harjeet persisted, finding solace in the knowledge that every session brought her one step closer to remission.
Throughout the weeks and months of treatment, Harjeet confronted her mortality head-on. The uncertainty that loomed over her became a constant companion, accompanying her through each chemotherapy session. And yet, even amidst the fear, a glimmer of hope seeped through. She held onto that hope with all her might, knowing that it was the lifeline that would guide her toward the light at the end of the tunnel.
The day of the stem cell transplant finally arrived, and Harjeet felt a mix of anxiety and anticipation. She lay in the hospital bed, her heart.

The afternoon show will celebrate the following categories: Class Awards – Public Service Announcement, Promotional Production, Narrative Game/Interactive Project, Corporate Production Under $30K, Corporate Production Over $30K, Educational, Fil Fraser Student Production, Children’s Program or Series, Commercial Under $20K and Commercial Over $20K. Craft Awards – Host, Narrator, Animator/Motion Graphic Artist, Make-Up/Hair Artist, Costume Designer, Screenwriter(s), Editors, Visual Effects, Production Designer/ Art Director and Stunt Performer.

Northern Gateway Films (Edmonton), SEVEN24 Films (Calgary) and Sticks & Stones (Edmonton) had the most overall finalists with more than 15 nominations each. The top two individual productions with the ten nominations each, are Dark Nature from Peterson Polaris Corp & Nika Productions and Father of Nations from Thousand Year Films, both from Calgary.

After presenting a digital, online streaming event for the previous two years due to COVID-19 restrictions, the YYC Music Awards Foundation was thrilled to host a live event for the 2022 Awards Gala at the Grey Eagle Casino Event Centre.

One of the people Behind Alberta's booming film industry is Luke Azevedo, Vice President, Creative Industries, Operations and Film Commissioner. His leadership and dedication has helped propel the province of Alberta and the city of Calgary, into the global spotlight, attracting major productions that create investment and job opportunities. In our exclusive interview with Luke for our Chapters/Indigo/Coles distributed 12th issue, Luke shares his insights into the industry's growth. He energetically shared about his role in securing investments and the true essence of Alberta's film community, just before he flew to the Cannes Film Festival.

In 2007, Luke joined Calgary Economic Development (CED) as the Commissioner for Film, Television, and Creative Industries. Luke works with studios, government, unions & producers in Southern Alberta to facilitate and develop local projects and to attract new foreign film, television & digital media productions to Alberta. Before joining CED, Luke was the Director of the Creative Electronic Environment, as well as the Banff New Media Institute and the Acting Director of Literary Arts at The Banff Centre, where he developed and directed television and interactive media facilities and personnel. Before Banff, he was the owner-operator of VisionWorks Commercial Productions and worked with Hockey Canada through four Olympic Games as well as numerous Junior and Women’s World Championships. During this period Luke was also the broadcast liaison for the Calgary Flames hockey operations.

In 2023, Luke was elected to the Board of Directors of the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI), a global consortium of over 300 film commissions across six continents. As one of 10 board members, Luke is the sole city commissioner among country, region, and state commissions. In addition, Luke has been awarded the Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal by the Province of Alberta, recognizing his work and dedication towards elevating not only Calgary, but Alberta’s, reputation as a global production center for the Creative Economy and for content creators of all platforms and genres.

In conclusion, Luke Azevedo's visionary leadership and inclusive approach have been instrumental in helping shape Alberta's thriving Screen industries. Under his leadership, the Stampede has experienced significant growth while maintaining its strong commitment to the community, the environment, and animal welfare. Cowley's strategic vision and focus on innovation have helped the Calgary Stampede navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and emerge stronger than ever. When Jann Arden met Charlie Kerr at a dinner party in Vancouver last year, she immediately wanted him to play Nate, the younger boyfriend of her fictional self, on the third season of CTV’s Jann. However, the pair almost didn’t cross paths that night.
.
Arden was staying at a cottage owned by Kerr’s father on Bowen Island, B.C., and Kerr—who fronts alt-rock band Hotel Mira and has appeared on TV shows such as iZombie, The Magicians and Supernatural—says he was worried the iconic singer-songwriter would think he was just “another actor-musician … with ulterior motives to collaborate with her†if he turned up at a dinner they had both been invited to. So he initially declined to go. In the end, a friend convinced him to attend the gathering, but he “purposely wore ratty clothing†so it wouldn’t look like he was trying to impress anybody.

Little did Kerr know, Arden was already impressed with him.
.
“I sat down and [Jann] already knew who I was and started talking about music,†Kerr says. “I had a song that was doing well on the radio at the time and we were kind of relating to each other on that. And then the subject of her TV show came up, and she started talking about this character Nate, and I think she even said [he was] ‘kind of somebody a bit like you,’ and I was like, ‘Well, I’m an actor; I’d love to audition.’â€.
.
Soon after their encounter, Arden began championing Kerr to play Nate. In response, the Vancouver native started an intense workout regimen to change his appearance because, as he explains, the character is “a star in an action TV show, and I have the body of a 13-year old girl.â€
.
Following a lengthy audition and network approval process, Kerr finally landed the part. “Between going to that dinner and filming, I think it was like seven months,†he says.
.
Last week, Nate made his debut on the show. Matched with Jann through a celebrity dating app, the TV star—who plays a fantasy action hero called Dark Cupid—at first, appears to have little in common with her. For one thing, he’s a younger man—to the horror of Nora (Deborah Grover), who protests both his age and gender. For another, he’s grounded and isn’t into relationship drama, which makes him wary of Jann’s over-the-top antics when they run into Cynthia (Sharon Taylor) on their first date. But despite this rough start, the episode ends with Nate making pancakes in Jann’s kitchen after spending the night, indicating there might be hope for this odd couple after all.

PIPE NATION - An oil and gas community comes together as they navigate a changing industry.
Natallie Gamble had no problem taking on the role of a debt-ridden, single mom working in the oilpatch in the pilot for a planned new TV series called Pipe Nation.
“This is me. I am ‘Pipe Nation,'” she said with a laugh Monday during an interview with The Canadian Press in Sundre, Alta., a picturesque oil town nestled near the Rocky Mountains.

“I’ve been working in the oil and gas industry for about six years. I took a break when the bust happened and did a little serving, a little bartending. but always went back to the oil and gas,” added Gamble, who is 24.

“My father, my grandfather, and my great grandfather were all in the oil and gas industry as well.” Natallie.

Sundre is set to become the fictional community of Hardwell. The drama will focus on day-to-day hardships labourers face, with Gamble’s character as the leader of a pipe gang — workers who position and align the pipe, preparing it for the weld. In real life, Gamble has held a number of jobs in the industry including welding.

PIPE NATION is located in the boreal forests of Alberta and British Columbia.
Hardwell is a fictional town near the border of two provinces at odds with each other. Meanwhile, the camp Ashley and Ty work at is called Kilometer 72. They have just crossed over into a province whose energy values don’t align with their own and run into protests and antipathy. A single, debt-ridden mother takes a job as a pipe laborer at a remote camp near the town of Hardwell. FINALISTS and new event date announced for the 2020 Alberta Film & Television (Rosie) Awards.
The Alberta Media Production Industries Association (AMPIA) has continued to work through the delays and difficulty of this unprecedented time of pandemic. Today AMPIA is very pleased to be able to announce their finalists for the 46th annual Alberta Film & Television Awards, celebrating excellence and outstanding achievement in Alberta’s screen industries.
The 2020 Awards were to have taken place on May 23 but have now been rescheduled. The winners will be announced in a FaceBook/You Tube Event Production on Thursday, October 8, 2020.
As for who is up for the 54 prestigious Rosie Awards, a total of 623 class (215) and craft (408) entries were submitted for consideration into this year’s awards, resulting in 308 total finalists; 121 class and 187 craft. For this year’s awards 54 industry professionals outside of Alberta adjudicated the submissions.
These productions, from commercials, new media, and both long and short form fiction and non-fiction are vying for 21 Class awards. In addition, Alberta’s talented screenwriters, costume and production designers, cinematographers, editors, directors, make-up artists, special effects artists, sound technicians and composers are competing in 33 Craft categories.
Of all finalists, 189 are from productions based in the city of Calgary, while 100 are from Edmonton-based productions. There were also 20 finalists from other communities in Alberta. As always, some Edmonton productions used Calgary talent. Similarly, some Calgary productions employed Edmonton talent. This should be kept in mind when comparing the breakdown.
In Calgary SEVEN24 Films had the largest number of finalists with 18, while Bamboo Shoots had the second most, with 14 finalists. With a total of 14, Sticks and Stones had the greatest number of Edmonton finalists. Yardwork Films followed with 7 finalists.
As for individual productions, Calgary based Prairie Dog Film & Television’s production of “Tribal” has the most finalists, with 12. The production receiving the second greatest number of finalists is also Calgary based, SEVEN24 Films’ “Heartland,” with 10. The individual production with the largest number of finalists from Edmonton is Yardwork Productions of “Whiteface” with 7.
The Alberta Film & Television Awards, continues to be the oldest film and/or television awards event in Canada, honouring its provincial production industry.
In order to qualify for an Alberta Film & Television Award a production must be produced or co-produced by a production company based in Alberta. For any craftsperson to be eligible he or she must have been a resident of Alberta for the 2019 calendar year.

Joey Pringle a Canadian Metis Blues Singer & Songwriter Releases Devils Game When you first see Joey Pringle you go, who is that?! You instantly want to know more about the 6 foot tall Manitoba Metis blues singer-song writer. Joey's signature dressed in black look resembles a modern-day Elvis. They both come from Indigenous heritages, Pringle is Cree Metis and Elvis was Cherokee. What else they have in common is how they both shake their legs like crazy when they perform. What people love most about this thirty’s old soul, is he’s a excellent singer! People will stop talking and really listen to his booming yet controlled rasp which makes you want to hear more.
He has been working hard for years to sustain his love of singing and performing, he moved from Birch River, Manitoba to pursue his blues singing and song writing career. Joey built a big following especially online. We first met Joey through Allan Stickel, Neil Enock and Paul Fry at a boy’s night out almost two years ago. We all had the pleasure of listening to a solo song right at the table, that he played for his dear friend Allan Stickel, who past away in 2017. Joey made a truly gorgeous blues song about his friend James Allan moments after the news of hearing he had past which he called Heaven's Hero. He said it just poured out of him, it truly honors who Al was and it brings people to tears because it's very relate-able to anyone who has lost someone. Joey is a registered SOCAN member and is in the mist of making his first CD for his fans who keep telling him it’s time and they want a Joey Pringle record! His latest song Devil's Game sounds like a Quentin Tarantino soundtrack song!

William “BIGSLEEPS” Stewart or “BIGSLEEPS” as he likes to be called. Was born in Toronto, Canada, to an immigrant mother from Grenada and father, from Trinidad. Bigsleeps began his entertainment career as rapper, performing as an opening act for major recording artists, Pioneers from Public Enemy and Ice T, Naughty by Nature, Kool Keith, Maestro, Moka Only, Kardinal Offishall, Usher, 112 and Ludacris to name a few.
Bigsleeps was a Street Team Rep for BMG Music Group, which sparked his love for creativity in marketing and promotions. Bigsleeps decided to host/MC club nights that gave him the opportunity to get new promotional music and Swag, to a mass amount of people at one time. His career in film and television began on City TV’s A-Channel show, Island Underground, whereafter he haphazardly fell into acting, landing roles in independent films and the hit television series, Blade. Since then, he’s been seen on the hit series, Sanctuary, Pretty Little Liars as well as making appearances in the summer blockbuster The Day The Earth Stood Still and the Seth Rogan film, 50/50.
TRUE JUSTICE - Marked “BIGSLEEPS’” first leading role with action star Steven Seagal. His more recent claims to fame have been on the hit television series The LA Complex, Fear the Walking Dead, Grace Point, Impastor, iZombie, The Show, Arrow, Game Over Man, Good Boys and Bigsleeps plays Dee in the Netflix Movie Coffee & Kareem. Bigsleeps also wrote the song, produced by DJ Quiet Storm, Titled “Wud Up Doe” for the movie Coffee & Kareem, performed by his Co-Star Ronreaco Rico” Lee. Additionally, Stewart co-stars in two Drama films currently streaming on Amazon Prime, Torn: Dark Bullets (as Ethan Bell), and Genesis Code (as Charlie Miller).
To add to his multi-talented resume, Bigsleeps also is a writer and producer of the online comedy web-series “Cloud Van” and plays and exaggerated over the top version of himself. Luke Mock is an 18-year-old singer-songwriter from Auburn, New York. Luke has developed his own unique sound with an overall goal to demonstrate his own emotions and inspire others. Luke has opened for national acts such as Ryan Quinn, John Gorka, Paul Elia, Mark Doyle, Joe Whiting, Neyla Pekarek, and more. He also headlined Perform 4 Purpose In 2019, a non-profit organization which provides opportunities for musicians to perform while raising money for charities, benefits, and more. Bruce Blain has been a salesman, a bar manager, a managing editor, an entrepreneur, a carpenter, a teacher, but in 2004, while living in Thailand, he became a film, TV, and voice actor. Since arriving there, he has recurred on such TV shows as; Once Upon a Time (9 episodes in Season 7 as The Desk Sergeant), Riverdale (5 episodes and counting as VIC), Supernatural (as Dwight Charles and Coach Phil Evans), along with day player appearances in most of the usual Vancouver shot shows, and such films as Max 2: White House Hero, Leprechaun: Origins, Rampage 2 and 3, and a whole host of Hallmark and Lifetime movies of the week; AND he has been the Campaign Voice for several VO campaigns.

Zyrack Dean Osmon has been a performer since a little child. Being mentored under the guidance of Lana Costea, while being instructed for 5 years in cello, voice, choir and acting. Furthering his growth attending high school at Walkerville Collegiate Institute & School of Performing Arts.
Understanding his strong desire for performance, Dean earned an International Fashion contract with MacDonald & Richards Model Management in NYC where he stayed for 6 years. Some of his NY achievements include but not limited to: Working with Robin K. Miller Prods. on a TV Pilot Series called “Gimme A Shot!” He later went on to co-found Full Blaze Records in Queens, NY – where he developed, recorded, and pitched artists to MCI Records. In 2001 Dean won both the NYC Daytime ABC network vocal competition and VH1 network’s “Celebrity Look-a-Like” competition, as Lenny Kravitz.
At the Producer’s Club Theater (Off-Broadway), he landed a role in the production of “Black Man’s Blues” before finally returning home to Canada. Transitioning into film & TV in Toronto, he was able to land a guest star role in the TV Series “Show Me Yours” while continuing his fashion modeling career with NAM Model Management and Giovanni Model Management. You may recognize Dean in Lava Life’s first Canadian National Dating Service Commercial in 2002.
In 2007 Dean moved to Vancouver to further his Film & TV aspirations while training with Linda Darlow before landing roles in a clearly contact commercial and TV series such a Human Target and features such as Tron - Legacy. In 2010 he moved to the agent/management side of his career. Creating and heading up InspirationALL Talent & Modeling Group’s film, TV, commercial, and background Divisions. He worked Briefly with “Top Talent” agency before launching his own talent agency Maijah Lewk of 8 years; along the way Dean fell in love with the development, management and mentoring of talent.
Then in 2020 after taking a break from management to focus on family (something we value very highly at Ignite Artists) he jumped back into his passion and joined the Ignite Team. We are SO happy to have his caring heart and vast industry knowledge on our team!

As soon as we heard Sandi was working on her passion project with Scott Lepp, we had to call her and share her good news with you all.
Independent award-winning filmmaker Sandi Somers is a native of Cape Breton Island who for over two decades has been residing in Alberta. She has worked in Canada and Europe for the past 25 years as a filmmaker, theatre artist, and educator. Sandi's work often revolves around challenges within human nature, discovery of truth, while addressing themes of connection.
Sandi's work has been featured across North America and in festivals worldwide such as The Lesbian International Film Festival in Paris, Los Angeles New Waves, The Melbourne International Film Festival, the St. John's Women's Festival, and The Calgary and Edmonton International Film Festivals. With over 70 films behind her and 40 nominations for her films, Sandi continues to create thought-provoking works in various genres. She creates dance films, music videos, dramas, comedies, video installations and has directed a documentary syndicated TV series. Upcoming projects include directing MUD, a CBC Digital Original series with Seven24 Films and designing the projection and video content for the live theatre production, Making Treaty 7.
Ice Blue (103 mins) with a release date this fall, is her first feature as director/co-producer. This psychological drama delves into themes of secrets and lies when a young 16-year old girl, living on an isolated farm with her father, asks to be reunited with her mother who mysteriously left ten years ago. Ice Blue opened to a sold out house at the Calgary International Film Festival and screened at the LA Femme Film Festival. There she won top honours with Best Feature Director, Ice Blue. Home (25 minutes, writer/director/producer) is a drama about a woman returning home to take care of her ailing and harshly strict parents in the 1950s. The Artistic Taxidermist (5 minutes) is a comedy about a taxidermist who, after discovering the Mona Lisa and fine art, becomes the DaVinci of the taxidermy world.
Sandi is the recent recipient of Alberta's prestigious Legacy Award from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts co-directing the auteur documentary on the pioneers of theatre in Calgary. She is a recipient of Alberta Media Arts Alliance's Spirit of Helen Award for her contributions to Alberta's media arts community and was invited to The Cannes Film Festival's Shorts Corner Program. Sandi is the creator of the revitalized initiative Herland, a workshop and mentorship program for women in film. She was also a finalist for Best Filmmaker in Calgary 2016 and recently received the Dave Kelly Live Force of Nature Award, and has served as current or past board member for the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers, Emmedia and Fairy Tales Presentation Society where she facilitates the Creative Workshop for the Queer Youth Media Project.

About the Okotoks Film Society
Originally established in March 2016 as the Okotoks Film Festival Society, the Okotoks Film Society changed their name in July 2018 to better represent the increasing scope of their goals and community involvement.
The Society is a group of board directors with the goal of making Okotoks and the surrounding area a viable and attractive place for film creation. They work to educate and connect local filmmakers while providing opportunity for filmmakers and the public alike to take an active part in film culture.
The Okotoks Film Society is also the home of the Okotoks Film Festival and partners with the Okotoks Cinemas to create meaningful film experiences.
Pushing for innovation in both filmmaking and in film watching the Okotoks Film Society is here to answer questions and provide programing to encourage professional development.
About the Okotoks Film Festival
The Festival is a three-day annual international film festival offering programming for all ages including a variety of film screenings, workshops, and galas. This international professional festival is a joy for audience and filmmakers alike. Trent McClellan is a comedian who has been performing stand-up across Canada for over 14 years. PAUL J. CHINOOK IS BREAKING THE STIGMA OF MENTAL HEALTH AND BRINGING AWARENESS FOR ALBERTA OIL FIELD WORKERS AND PEOPLE IN CANADA
What did you like most about playing Dale Walters in February’s Dog?
Dale is an extremely like able character. He’s very charismatic, charming, and easy going. There are layers to his character that the audience get exposed too as the story plays through. At first glance, it appears as though he doesn’t have a care in the world. That he’s just kind of like a big friendly dog eager to make everyone happy like he’s fed off smiles and laughter. We catch glimpses of the depth of thought he is capable of at the rare moment when he lets his guard down.
“Hopefully what we can do is draw attention to mental health issues and draw attention to the resources and get people talking about these issues.” - Chinook
February's Dog takes place in Alberta in modern time and is set against the beautiful and iconic back drop of the Canadian Rocky Mountains under a shroud of winter snow. It follows two uniquely different, yet typical men – Dale Walters (played by Paul J. Chinook) is a very charismatic and lighthearted man that works hard to enjoy a life of adventure and excitement. His work partner, Nigel Loggins, (played by Kevin Davey) is a military veteran who is quiet and calculated in his approach towards life. The film opens with these two men as they are finishing up work on a Friday. They get called into the office at the end of the day and are laid off by their boss Arthur Newbury, (played by Doug Wilson) a very clean cut, to the point, middle aged manager. Arthur is a friend and suggests that this is just temporary, and that they will be back at work in three months – just as soon as market oil prices recover. Dale and Nigel interpret this “break” quite differently and act accordingly. Ultimately though, both men find themselves in a merciless battle against desperation and depression. How will they get out? Or will they? The story is a hard one but one that needs to be told as it is far too common silent battle in today’s society.
The film stars Paul J. Chinook, Quinn Teechma, Kevin Davey, Will Webster, Sarah Wheeldon, Dan McDougall, Doug Wilson, Felipe Paredes and more.
Chinook has been in the Calgary television and film industry as an actor and writer since 2013 and wanted to take that next step.
“It’s really challenging as a Calgary or an Alberta actor to land those auditions, because nine out of 10 the production already has a Vancouver or a LA actor established for that role before you even go in there.” I started writing this story to keep busy and what a topic it was to write about. So many people have gone through this, losing their job in the oil field.”
“It’s got a very strong mental health aspect to it. We watch two of the characters go through some extremely challenging situations and sadly are far too real in Alberta right now with losing work and struggling and bills piling up.”
He has written five screenplay ideas and this is the first one that went into the production.

Splitting her time between Alberta and LA since 2007 and finding successes along the way as an honor student at Musicians Institute (Hollywood, CA) 90.3 AMP Radio’s Rock Star, a Breakout Artist, winning YYC Music Awards 2017 – Female Artist of the year and George Stroumboulopoulos included her in his list of Top 3 Buzz Bands.
Life wasn’t always lived this ‘out loud’ for the now singer/songwriter/recording artist. The youngest of five kids growing up in northern Alberta she barely spoke a word before the age of 11. She had four other siblings who did all the talking for her. Her pre-school teacher hilariously thought she was deaf because she never responded to any of her questions – Amy didn’t realize she was supposed to.
Being a bit (understatement) on the chubby side as a kid with little or no confidence she stumbled on No Doubt and Gwen Stefani and their video “Just a Girl” – and everything changed in that moment. Amy knew who and what she wanted to be. She took up the drums, which lead to the guitar and songwriting. That’s how Amy found her voice and a way to connect with the world.
Shedding the weight and finding her music and her voice meant saying goodbye to all those childhood insecurities. This deep love affair with music coupled with her respect for all those who have gone before and those who continue to build her ever-expanding musical knowledge have brought her to this point.
With Amy’s natural talent, compassion and sense of humor, this multifaceted artist brings a truly unique, energized and interesting vibe to everything she does. Kelley's series "The Wedding Bells" for FOX and has recurred on the Showtime series "DICE" starring Andrew Dice Clay,"Satisfaction", "Californication", while making his mark as 'Krazee Eyez Killa' on "Curb Your Enthusiasm". He has guest starred on Ugly Betty, CSI: Miami, Hot in Cleveland, Monk, Weeds, and numerous other shows. A graduate of Georgetown University, he is a magician's member of the Academy of Magical Arts (The Magic Castle) and when not practicing as a 4ht degree black belt master in Tae Kwon Do or running marathons to raise money for the American Diabetes Association and Eye Bank of New York, he is a board member of the charity Special Kids Network. Chris divides his time between Los Angeles and New York.

MORGAN LEBLANC Stars In Cor Values Nominated For Best Feature At The Alberta Film Awards
The Murder Mystery film Cor Values is Nominated for The (Rosie Awards) for (2019). Written and Directed by Brandon Rhiness and Gilbert Allan.
While the story of Cor Values takes place in Idaho, the film itself was shot in several locations across Central Alberta including Red Deer and Lacombe. The film is nominated for Best Dramatic Feature by the Alberta Media Production Industries Association.

Co-producer Dean Busch (of Red Deer’s Bubbadog Productions) and Director Gilbert Allen (Link to the Past Productions) are both thrilled to be representing at this year’s Rosie Awards Ceremony, taking place April 27th at the Edmonton Convention Centre. Cor Values has already won for Best Thriller at an Ottawa film festival.
Cor Values stars Edmonton heartthrob Morgan LeBlanc and Erika Eleniak, of Baywatch fame. Cor Values tells the story of Cormac, a big city reporter who returns to his small hometown in the wake of his father’s passing. Cormac’s visit becomes turbulent when he reconnects with a former sweetheart, strikes up a new relationship, and becomes involved in solving a series of local murders. While the film hasn’t yet found a Canadian distributor, Cor Values is currently being streamed in seven other countries, including to American Amazon Prime customers. Cor Values is also available on DVD at Walmart and Target in the U.S.
The partnership between Link to the Past Productions and Bubbadog Productions continues with the movie No Apology, which has just concluded filming in Beaumount. According to Busch, it is their intent to use as much Albertan and Canadian talent as possible in their projects.

Kenyon, a leading authority on Shakespeare, has built curriculums and lectured at workshops across the US and Canada. Soul In Bliss Theatre Co & The Shakespeare Club Present Much Ado About Nothing, February 15 and 16, 2020 Proceeds to Benefit College Access Plan Pasadena CA – Soul In Bliss Theatre Co. and The Shakespeare Club present a fast and furious adaption of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. The one-day only performance on Sunday, February 16, benefits College Access Plan, a Pasadena nonprofit that provides free programs in college preparedness and success.
Drawing on the Shakespeare Club’s history and use as a convalescent home for soldiers recuperating from various injuries, this adaptation set during WW2 follows the story of betrothed Claudio and Hero, and the repelled-by-each-other though well-matched couple, Benedick and Hero’s cousin Beatrice. Ultimately, a joint marriage is planned where Claudio is made to marry an incognito bride, and she turns out to be none other than...well that’s the surprise!
In addition to the ticketed performance, there will be a pay-what-you-can matinée dress rehearsal followed by a Q&A with cast and crew on Saturday, February 15. This performance is free for students.

Talk about a triple threat! Music, dance and acting have always been a part of this starlet’s life. Brought up in the entertain- ment industry, Rachel has grown up around music, theater, film and dance! From the tender age of 3, she has been dancing, eventually becoming a professional hula dancer, competing in the top hula competitions and traveling the world enchanting international audiences.
It was actually thanks to her dancing abilities that she was introduced to the television and film industry. She was asked to dance in commercials for companies like Hawaiian Airlines, in televised parades like Disney World’s Winter Parade, for major televised events like The International Children’s Festival sharing the stage with the Sesame Street Gang and even at major football games like the Pro-Bowl for four years.
All this before she was even thirteen years old! It was around this age that she discovered her gift, passion and love for music! Engrossed with the rhythmic vibes of her culture, this Hawaiian Native began playing the ukulele, eventually writing her own lyrics and melodies.
Though her creativity was heavily influenced by her island home, her taste in music con- trasted the happy and light-hearted sounds of the islands. Instead, she found solace in artists like P!nk, Evanescence and Adele who’s music mirrored the hardships and realities she faced in her own life. Behind the lights, cameras and smiles, Rachel was haunted by traumas and abuses she’d been going through for years.

Kiley May is a Hotinonhshón:ni Mohawk multidisciplinary artist from Six Nations reserve and is now settled in Toronto. She is an actor, screenwriter, educator, public speaker and author of the upcoming book How To Love A Trans Girl.
She has a recurring role as assistant pathologist River Baitz on the hit CBC show Coroner and has recently appeared in IT Chapter Two (New Line Cinema), Woman Dress (National Film Board of Canada) and the upcoming Queer Haircuts For Everyone (Shaftesbury).
Being an Indigenous transgender woman, Kiley is passionate about education, representation, and diversity. As an emerging screenwriter and filmmaker, Kiley is working on creating scripts and roles for Indigenous and transgender women, focusing on positive, empowering and authentic portrayals.
She also does political education and awareness work through public speaking, workshops, facilitation, consultation and training in the areas of two spirit, LGBTTQQI, Indigenous LGBTTQQI, and transgender communities, identities and histories.

CHAINED, psychological crime thriller from Vancouver's award winning director, Titus Heckel, to film in Kelowna started Dec 5th.
Telefilm-supported psychological crime thriller, CHAINED, the latest feature film from Vancouver-based award-winning writer and director Titus Heckel, starts filming in Kelowna December 5th, 2019.
CHAINED focuses on Taylor, an abused and bullied 13-year-old and the friendship he forges with Jim, a criminal he discovered chained inside an abandoned warehouse. A violent betrayal between the duo turns the abused into the abuser. With the consequences-and victims of Jim’s crimes closing in, Taylor finds himself in over his head.
Starring Aleks Paunovic (VAN HELSING, SNOWPIERCER) as Jim and rising star Marlon Kazadi (CHILD’S PLAY and the upcoming GHOSTBUSTERS 2020) as Taylor, the film also features Canadian Screen Award winning actor Adrian Holmes (star of 19-2 and the new Netflix series V WARS) as Taylor’s father, Pete.
“We are thrilled to have this immensely talented trio on board to help tell this powerful, provocative story,” says producer Rachelle Chartrand. “With all the service work being done in the province, and country, it is a testament to the brilliance of the script and the complex characters Titus has created that Aleks and Adrian are doing a Canadian indie film at this stage of their illustrious careers. And to discover the young powerhouse, Marlon Kazadi, on the verge of breaking into stardom, is a gift.”
The film has already garnered numerous accolades and secured broadcast deals with Super Channel and Hollywood Suite. Winners of the Telefilm sponsored JETS Program, an international coproduction and pitching competition held during the 2018 Berlin International Film Festival, the screenplay was also a semi-finalist in the 2018 Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting, which is put on by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
CHAINED, along with producer Rachelle Chartrand, was one of 6 CDN features to be chosen for the Producers Lab at the 2018 Whistler Film Festival. CHAINED received development funding from the highly competitive Harold Greenberg Fund (Bell Media) as well as Creative BC, and is a recipient of 2019 Canada Feature Film Fund from Telefilm.
Titus Heckel’s 2014 directorial debut, WITH CHILD, was shortlisted for the Cannes Film Festival and nominated for both the Best World Showcase at the SoHo International Film Festival and the Flash Forward Award at the Busan International Film Festival. Titus is also a multi-award-winning writer.
Lead producer Rachelle Chartrand is an award-winning producer, screenwriter and past-president of Women in Film & Television Vancouver. Rounding out the team is 15-year veteran producer Chester Sit, whose projects have been distributed on APTN, CBC, Super Channel and OMNI Television.

Jay Montalvo has joined the cast of The Young and the Restless as Adrian Rosales, the father of Lola (Sasha Calle), Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) and Arturo (Jason Canela). Montalvo is an actor and producer who is known for S.W.A.T, Wasted in Babylon and Get Shorty.
Montalvo played the role of DA Benjamin Lazaro on General Hospital in 2013. His other acting credits include; Scorpion, Jane the Virgin, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and more. He makes his debut as Papa Rosales on August 16, 2019, be sure to tune in.

As she discovers, there are also many great talents in the Okanagan but they had no representation, there were no talent agencies here at all. It only took some business sense, a lot of connections, a bit of hard work to build the roster of talents. Teresa comes with over 30 years of film industry experience from the East coast to the West, living in Halifax, Vancouver, and California, and working as Background, Commercials, and Model in those days, and combined with her University Education, business experience, marketing skills, and community involvement.

This was followed by an exclusively curated exhibition of his nominated visual series "The Paris Perspective" in the Louvre Museum in Paris. Hey, I’m Shanelle. An overly sarcastic 24 year old who is wildly enthusiastic about love, mental wellbeing and all things confidence building.
I recently graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology – mainly because I wanted to feel somewhat qualified to speak on behalf of the mental health related topics that I am passionate about. I currently reside in Canada’s wine country, the Okanagan. And I spend most of my days digitally designing websites and brands for fabulous clients and pursuing many of my creative passions.
In my earlier 20s (because I’m sooo much older now) I took on many different opportunities that have gotten me to where I am today. In 2017 I ran for Miss Universe Canada and placed top 20. Last year I opened up my first non-digital business, Beauty and the Bronze, a spray tanning & teeth whitening company. And I’ve had the pleasure of being a pubic ambassador for many causes that I’m extremely passionate about, such the Elizabeth Fry Society and Fight the New Drug. I’ve even in digital marketing after graduating with a diploma in graphic design from CATO.
However, as of late I’ve been focusing on an older pursuit and passion of mine – acting. I’ve had the blessing of being cast as leads in a couple of short films and a TV pilot. This was a dream of mine since I was 3 and I gave it up momentarily when I was 19. I didn’t want to continue with acting without pursing the love of the craft – and I’m happy to say… right now it’s giving me genuine joy. Luckily, this talent and love for performing doesn’t stop there! Other creative mediums such as art, video production and writing provides me with immense amounts of happiness.
When I’m not blogging for my website or others, producing youtube videos, acting, or on the gram… You will most likely find me watching a psychological thriller on Netflix, spending time with family (love you mom & dad), and actively pursing my faith in Christ. I try to keep as level headed as possible and the little things in life are the things that matter most. That… and I think I really funny is also something you should know.

The Pacific Screenwriting Program (PSP) is pleased to announce Writer/Producer/Director Robert Cooper as Showrunner for the 2020 Scripted Series Lab. Cooper will be a mentor to six up-and-coming BC-based screenwriters selected to participate in next year’s program starting in January 2020. With Cooper leading the story room, they will work together to develop his original series in the PSP’s flagship training program now in its second year. Combining real-world story room experience, mentorship, boot camps, workshops and information sessions, the program equips writers with the skills, experience and connections necessary to establish a sustainable career in the province’s dynamic screen industry. The Pacific Screenwriting Program is a collaboration between Netflix, CMPA, the Writer’s Guild of Canada and Creative BC.
“We are tremendously excited to welcome Robert Cooper as this year’s showrunner for the Scripted Series Lab. Rob has been a key member of the PSP community from the very outset and has demonstrated time and again his commitment to developing and mentoring upcoming screenwriters,” said Brian Hamilton, PSP Board Chair. “Rob’s track record creating and showrunning world-class television series speaks for itself. We are extremely fortunate to work with him as this year’s SSL showrunner.” Robert Cooper most recently created, wrote and directed episodes of CBC’s Unspeakable, following Canada’s tainted blood scandal. A lifelong dream project, the mini-series recently won the Leo Award for best dramatic series. Previously, he served as showrunner of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency for BBC America, Netflix and AMC Studios, and is probably best known for having been showrunner of the record-breaking Stargate television franchise for MGM.
He co-created Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe and served as executive producer, writer, and director of multiple episodes of all three series and two DTV movies. Cooper has been nominated and won several awards for both writing and directing, including two Hugo nominations and a Canadian Writer’s Guild award for best dramatic screenplay. In 2009, he was presented with an Outstanding Achievement Award for contribution to the British Columbia television industry.
“It’s an amazing opportunity for me to develop an original idea with a room of eager, talented minds,” said Cooper. “Everyone involved with the PSP wants to see a more vibrant community of experienced screenwriters able to work and ultimately create home grown television series right here in BC. The passion for storytelling is clear in the applicants for this year’s program. I'm looking forward to us learning from each other.”
The Scripted Series Lab is a 15-week intensive training program providing support and career- advancement opportunities for active and aspiring screenwriters from across British Columbia, where they receive the necessary support to expand their portfolio and pursue opportunities in the evolving TV marketplace. Throughout the program, participants hone their craft, strengthen their collaboration and presentation skills, and obtain a deeper understanding of the global television industry and how to market themselves within it. As the Scripted Series Lab showrunner, Cooper will mentor the six selected participants within a real-world story room over 10 weeks, breaking stories and writing scripts for the original project he brings to the room and will subsequently be pitching to streamers and networks around the world.

Hi guys. I'm with rodeo royalty, right? It’s your buddy Chris Tutty, and I am here interviewing none other than Jason Glass. Now, I have been a fan of this guy for probably 25 years at least it seems like. I mean, the first time, uh, I came down here with, uh, Sheldon Kennedy and I mean, things were a lot different back then, man.
Like, I think we drove up in the Envoy and they let us park arrayed on the Gates. Uh. I'm just wondering how our things changed since that has changed a lot.
You know, I've been here for 48 years since I was born, and, uh, you know, it's a, it's a whole different world back here. It's a, you know, it's a lot more of a business.
Jason: Um, everyone used to have, I would say everyone still has fun, but it's, uh, it's not the party it used to be. You know, we put a lot of time and effort and money into race and wagons and, uh, taking care of horses as best we can. So it's changed a bunch. I think that both of us have grown up a little bit more, you than me, for sure.
Chris: You got the wife and the lovely kids twins too, as well.
Jason: Yeah. No, things have changed in my life too. I've got way more control over my life and, uh, you know, I've got a great family, uh, two twins that are eight years old and the beautiful wife. Brianne, so it's a, I live in a beautiful world. No, absolutely. I mean, like I said, the good old days, there was big campfires down here.

Emily Piggford is a Canadian Screen Award nominated actress born in Victoria, British Columbia, based in Toronto, and of Japanese and British descent. Directly following university, Emily starred in the short film Frost, which premiered at TIFF and was nominated for Best Live Action Short at the inaugural Canadian Screen Awards. Serinda Swan was born in West Vancouver, B.C., to a family of artists, including her mother, an actress, and her father, a theatre director with a well-established acting school. Serinda actually gravitated to the arts and at three was personally chosen for the role in her first motion picture, Cousins with Ted Danson and Isabella Rossellini.
Swan was introduced to the world in popular TV shows such as Smallville and Supernatural in Vancouver. She is most proud of her roles in Feud, Ballers, Marvels and Humans and Coroner.
She got her ’big break’ in Disney’s TRON: Legacy opposite Beau Garrett, Olivia Wilde and Jeff Bridges, as well as The Baytown Outlaws with Billy Bob Thornton.
She then made her move to Los Angeles, where she was able to work opposite the ‘The Rock’ in HBO’s Ballers and Jessica Lang and Susan Sarandon in Feud. Recently was a lead in Marvels and Humans which led her to her drastic change in appearance with having shaved her head for her role! Which allowed her to explore her new diverse starring role in Coroner!
Additionally, she starred in the thriller entitled The Veil, opposite William Moseley. Swan recently wrapped Blood on Wheels, a feature produced by James Franco.
Outside of her busy acting career, Swan’s true passion is activism. In 2011 she became an official ambassador of Friends to Mankind, an organization that partners with non-profits to raise awareness and funds through educational campaigns. Swan has cycled across Cambodia, installed nets in Africa, and skydived from 18,000 ft., the highest jump in North America, in hopes of encouraging others to take a stand and make a difference. She has helped raise over one million dollars to date for various charities and causes close to her heart. Swan is the CEO and Co-Founder of the education technology company, Deedly. Her belief is that education should be free, and through their specific month-long curriculum they educate students about world issues and the charities that strive to fix them. Congratulations on the Season 2 pickup of Coroner – which starts production soon. You’ve lived through a few of these, but it never gets old I’m sure; when you got the call saying you were coming back again to play Jenny Cooper, did you do anything special to celebrate?
I think I did a random dance in my apartment first and foremost, because you just want to celebrate and you want to let out some of the energy that you’re holding. Even though there was a good feeling from the get-go with this show, that it was going to go at least another season, you never know…this industry surprises you in good ways, bad ways and ugly ways. It’s an energy you’re carrying along, it’s another character…it’s another person. I have to keep Jenny close until I know that I can release her and so for me it was sort of that inhale of…’ok, here we go again’. I get to bring Jenny along for another year of life, which is incredibly rewarding and exciting.

Cold Lake's Petcharnin "Patty" Cowden is an actor, producer, and entrepreneur. She was born in Bangkok, Thailand and is of Thai, Indian, Malaysian, and Portuguese (from her paternal grandfather) descent. Cowden began acting as a child in various Thai TV shows and Films. She appeared in numerous productions throughout her early teens, including being a TV talk show host for Channel V Thailand. At age 15, she decided that she wanted to be a filmmaker and began to focus on production.
In 2006 Cowden completed her Bachelors Degree, graduating Magna Cumme Laude, from Brigham Young University-Hawaii with degrees in Theatre and International Cultural Studies-Humanities. She went on to complete her Master of Business Administration from Aspen University.
Cowden said, "I always wanted to work in two industries: Film, where I can show people what endless possibilities look like and non-profit organizations, where I can be a voice for so many people who have been forced to sit in silence."
Her most recent film Sweet Oil (Producer & Story) premiered at the Phoenix Film Festival in Arizona in 2017.

Rob Norman is the author of Improvising Now, as well as an instructor and director at the Second City Toronto. In addition to producing The Backline weekly podcast, Rob is a Canadian Screen Award winner for his performance on CityTV’s Sunnyside. And yes, Rob is tall but he doesn’t make a big deal about it.

Congrats on the upcoming season 2 of your Podcast – Personal Best. Tell us about the show?
Andrew – We like to say it’s a self-improvement show for people who don’t like self-improvement. Each episode is like a mini-documentary and people come to us with something that they want to improve about themselves and it’s usually something petty…something weird that you normally wouldn’t want to go to a “life coach” for. Over the course of the episode we try our best to find experts; to develop activities to try and get them better at whatever it is they want to improve on.
It’s a great concept…where did the concept for the show come from?
Rob – I was doing a bunch of storytelling events around town and Andrew saw a video and said ‘ooh…I want to make a little documentary about it’ so we filmed that, in about 2015 or something. Years and years later, CBC was looking for a comedy podcast and I thought it sounded like a great opportunity. I only knew one person who makes podcasts and that was Andrew. So I called Andrew and we met at a coffee shop…later I would realize neither of us drink coffee…and I threw an idea (out there) and Andrew did not like the idea, but together we kind of came up with something that kind of meshed together to become Personal Best. So a real mess of an origin story I’d say.
Andrew – Yah, there wasn’t like an ‘aha’ moment of a light bulb flickering on or something like that romantic.
So you guys knew each other before the show came out, the show didn’t really bring you guys together?
Rob – We were pretty much strangers when we were making this video and I was just getting into podcasting and Andrew had mentioned that he had done some so I was asking him a lot of questions about the craft, but yah…our relationship has all been through the show.
Andrew – We were like Facebook buddies for a while where he was the one person where “Oh…Rob has an improv show coming up…this guys on my Facebook…I forgot about that” and then a few years later he reached out. So we knew each other a little bit I guess you could say.
Rob – And for the record, Andrew has never come to one of my improv shows!
Andrew – Well Rob does a really good job of not glamorizing Improv as well!
Do you guys have any personal favorite moments from Season 1?
Andrew – The cow birth episode I would say, especially in hindsight. We were such ‘threading the needle’ or ‘out on a wire on that one’; I can’t believe we pulled it off. So much had to come together, where not only were we helping this lady who wanted to birth a cow, we were building her skills up, getting her ready to do that…(but) we were actually trying to find a cow that was going to give birth and trying to make that happen within that time frame. Even listening back to that, it was ‘whoa…that worked out really well’. That was an interesting one; a fun one for sure.

The Alberta Media Production Industries Association (AMPIA) is pleased to announce their finalists for the 45th annual Alberta Film & Television Awards, celebrating excellence and outstanding achievement in Alberta’s screen industries.
A total of 600 class (205) and craft (395) entries were submitted for consideration into this year’s awards, resulting in 323 total finalists; 129 class and 194 craft. For this year’s awards 59 industry professionals outside of Alberta adjudicated the submissions.
These productions, from commercials, new media, and both long and short form fiction and non-fiction are vying for 24 Class awards. In addition, Alberta’s talented screenwriters, costume and production designers, cinematographers, editors, directors, make-up artists, special effects artists, sound technicians and composers are competing in 33 Craft categories. Each winner shall receive the prestigious Rosie Award.
Of all finalists, 155 are from productions based in the city of Calgary, while 141 are from Edmonton-based productions. There were also 24 finalists from other communities in Alberta, including 12 from Red Deer. As always, some Edmonton productions used Calgary talent. Similarly, some Calgary productions employed Edmonton talent. This should be kept in mind when comparing the breakdown.
In Calgary SEVEN24 Films had the greatest number of finalists with 15, while Spotlight Productions had the second most, having produced or co-produced 11 finalists.
With a total of 19, Mosaic Entertainment had the greatest number of Edmonton finalists. Handful of Films was right behind, having produced or co-produced 18 finalists.
As for individual productions, Edmonton based Mosaic Entertainment’s “Caution: May Contain Nuts” has the greatest number of finalists, with 12. The production receiving the second most finalists is Calgary based SEVEN24 Films’ “Heartland,” with 9.
The 2019 Alberta Film & Television Awards took place as a gala evening presentation was on Saturday, April 27 at the Edmonton Convention Centre in downtown Edmonton.
This year the Alberta Film & Television Awards, the oldest film and/or television awards event in Canada, is celebrating its 45th consecutive year of honouring its provincial production industry.
In order to qualify for an Alberta Film & Television Award a production must be produced or co-produced by a production company based in Alberta. For any craftsperson to be eligible he or she must have been a resident of Alberta for the 2018 calendar year.
Fred Keating was presented by the AMPIA board a special AMPIA Ambassador award.

Chris Tutty and Lynda Cater of Wonder Woman and more!
Chris Tutty is a Canadian Celebrity Artist, born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. His love of the arts could be observed in every school he attended from poetry books, yearbook covers, coloring contests, large murals, paintings, and his participation in various school productions and talent shows. After high school, Chris stopped painting and drawing all together to pursue a Geology degree. It seemed more practical to follow his father's footsteps into the oil and gas field. Now it's his full-time career along with his charity work with Guitars For Vets and more.
Chris also sells real-estate and has worked on many different movie projects, tv and commercials throughout the years from The Assassination of Jesse James to Passchendaele. Currently, he is co-producing a tv show called the Chevy Boyzzz with co-star David “Shark” Fralick of The Young and the Restless.
Over the years Chris rarely had a spare moment to explore and express his truly passionate side through art. With the passing of three incredibly influential people in his life, Chris found himself drawn back to what always helped him convey his raw unfiltered emotions, art.
With several events, newspaper, magazine articles as well as showings under his belt, Chris decided to go back to school. He was the top student in his Graphic Arts and Design program and was awarded the class Valedictorian with top marks in his program. Currently Chris is also training and collaborating with Blake McCully of Cross-Eyed airbrushing, together they are taking art to a new level.
In 2015, over two hundred thousand dollars has been raised for local Charites in Calgary through a partnership with Bill Brown of Elevated Auctions, Chris and YYC Charity. Chris’s charitable activities were also recognized in October 2015 by Vigor International with a Humanitarian Award. Today, Chris has several celebrity clients and contributes to charities. Chris has worked with the Kennedys Waterkeepers Alliance in which he was the feature artist, and was able to show his work along with actor Pierce Brosnan.
Chris has an amazing ability to express art in a diverse range of mediums: from exact photorealism to the inimitable abstracts. More often than not his pictures are a unique blend of both. What I love best about my brother’s work is... the vivid emotions I feel when viewing his audacious color combinations. We have only seen the tip of his natural, raw, untapped talent.

February’s Dog Story overview February’s Dog takes place in Alberta in modern time and is set against the beautiful and iconic back drop of the Canadian Rocky Mountains under a shroud of winter snow. It follows 2 uniquely different, yet typical men. Dale Walters is a very charismatic and lighthearted man that works hard to enjoy a life of adventure and excitement. Nigel Loggins is a military veteran that is quiet and calculated in his approach towards life. The film opens with these two men as they are finishing up work on a Friday. They get called into the office at the end of the day and are laid off by their boss Arthur Newbury; a very clean cut, to the point, middle aged manager. They are told abruptly by Arthur that this is just temporary, and that they will be back at work in 3 months as soon as market oil prices recover.

Trent McClellan is a comedian who has been performing stand-up across Canada for over 14 years. Some of his most notable appearances include sets at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, St. John’s Exit Realty Comedy Fest, the Moncton HubCap Comedy Fest, the Edmonton Comedy Festival, and the YYC Calgary Comedy Festival. Trent has also appeared on CBC’s The Debaters, defended “February” by Lisa Moore on CBC Canada Reads, and has opened for acts such as Bob Saget and Gerry Dee. In 2016, Trent was a guest writer and performer on This Hour Has 22 Minutes and officially joined the show for its 25th season in 2017/2018.

The first thing I want to say is congratulations on season 12, not many shows even make it to 10 and you guys are on 12 already! Did you imagine the first day you walked onto the set as Dr. Julia Ogden, you will still be playing her 12 seasons later?
Of course not, that’s just not how actors think (laughs). It’s normally one day at a time…one year at a time, so that’s just not something that you expect. It’s not something that you expect anywhere in the world, particularly in Canada. We just so rarely get more than three or maybe four. It’s certainly not to be expected ever.

Francesco Antonio On track to becoming one of Canada’s up and coming stars
Francesco Antonio has landed a recurring character role on YouTube Premium's new original comedy series, Wayne, in what is slated to be YouTube Premium's “biggest breakout show of 2019”, according to Bleeding Cool. He will work alongside Deadpool writers, Rhett Reece and Paul Wernick, and star opposite Michaela Watkins. Wayne premiered at this year’s Tribeca TV Festival (2018).
The ten-episode series will be premiering worldwide on January 16, 2019 on YouTube Premium.
Born and raised in Toronto, Francesco has received nominations in Spain for Best Actor at the Barcelona Planet Film Festival for his role in Addiction (2018). Most recently, Francesco made a splash in Las Vegas where he received four nominations from the Action On Film Festival, winning the G.I.F.T.E.D award, making it the first time the award was given to an actor in the festival's history. Francesco was also nominated in the Hollywood Dreamz International Film Festival in Las Vegas for Best Actor (Addiction, 2018) and Best Young Performer (The Joke Thief, 2018) but was awarded the prestigious, Lewis Mitchell Award for Acting for his work in Addiction.
Francesco has already worked opposite legends such as Franco Nero, Danny Aiello and Giancarlo Giannini in The Neighborhood (2017). Francesco just wrapped filming for What We Do in the Shadows (2019) for FX network with Jermaine Clement. Francesco also played a memorable roll in the hit show Bad Blood (2017-2018) starring alongside Kim Coates. In 2019, Francesco is set to star in the short film Love, Sarah.

In Season 1 of Workin’ Moms, fans were immersed into the hilarious yet realistic lives of four women juggling motherhood with jobs and responsibilities. At the end of season two we meet Bianca played by Tennille Read. We’re getting a crash-course in the emotions and doubts that go along with deciding to get pregnant. And, of course, we’re shown the support system Frankie (Juno Rinaldi) can supply.
“It’s a great take on motherhood and starting from the very beginning,” Read says during a recent phone chat. “The fears, the anxiety, the uncertainties, especially showing it through the eyes of a single woman. Bianca is flying solo; she isn’t partnered with anyone and she’s deciding to start a family. I think that is unique to the show and hasn’t really been explored before.” Read teases viewers will see a new side to Frankie as well, because she’s in a place of more stability and can help. (Though, it must be said, Juniper did throw a curve ball at Frankie last week.)"
I’d like to start first by congratulating you on recently joining the cast of Workin’ Moms as the character of Bianca. Can you tell us a bit about the character and what she brings to the show?
Bianca is a friend of Frankie’s…their friendship was established in season 2, just at the end there, and she becomes Frankie’s friend. She is warm hearted and very generous; and she’s kind of courageous because she’s decided to be a single parent and Frankie kind of brings her under her wing since Frankie’s been through pregnancy and stuff before. I think what Bianca beings to the show is this new type of motherhood; someone who is flying solo with the process of getting pregnant and the challenges that come up within that.
Speaking of Frankie, you and fellow actress Juno Rinaldi have some great on screen chemistry, how did the two of you build that up so quickly?
(Laughs) How did we build that up so quickly? I think Juno and I are just pretty easy going people in general and so chatting with her off screen was really easy and so it kind of just translates very easily on camera as well.
It definitely comes across as some great chemistry and its fun to watch. Was it hard joining a TV show that is already established and showing some success?
It wasn’t, because everyone’s just super nice. I think it helped that most of the scenes that I started off shooting earlier in block 1 were just with Frankie, so it was a lot of one-on-one. I got to get to know a lot of the crew; there were familiar faces in the crew that I had worked with on past shows where I was doing those day player roles and there were a few of them like that so it was very comfortable to be on the set because I already knew them, so that was great. And over the few months that we were shooting, every so often I would run into a cast member that I wouldn’t have a scene with, or if I did it was very brief…like in hair and make-up or something. Like Dani Kind comes to mind, and she’s just so personable and nice. We could immediately start chatting like friends and that was across the board with a lot of the members. Also, Sarah McVie, who plays Val on the show, she lives in my building (laughs), so I got to know her before I started shooting season 3. So all these little connections helped make that transition onto the show smooth.

Congratulations on your new segment on CBC – Power of Your Voice. That’s so exciting. Tell us about the segment and what listeners can expect when they tune in?
That’s so exciting. Tell us about the segment and what listeners can expect when they tune in?
I’m a music student…I’m still in school studying voice at Memorial (University) with Edward Mark Murphy and basically what we’re doing is we go up to unsuspecting people in the street; preferably those without a musical background but we don’t really know until we chat with them, but must people I’ve spoken with have not had a musical background and we give them a quick voice lesson; a quick crash course on how to sing. People are really scared when they see me coming with a mike. People have been good sports about it, but there’s also people who kind of run the other way, which is to be expected. We give them a quick 5 minute crash course in how to sing and then at the end everyone sings a piece of a song, then we put together all of the clips of people singing the song and then we fade into the actual song. So it’s a really fun segment; its upbeat, it’s satirical, it’s just a fun experience for viewers and for people involved.

You star as ‘Will Sanders’ in the CBC show Unspeakable which has its season finale on Wed Feb 27th. For those who haven’t been following or are planning on doing some binge watching to catch up on CBC Gem…tell us a bit about the show?
The series mostly focuses on a couple of families in the 1980’s who both have children that were/are hemophiliacs who, through the Canadian tainted blood scandal, one of them contracts Hep C and the other one contracts the AIDS virus.
It’s about the fallout and the fight against the institutions that allowed it to happen. It sort of explains it to the larger population bases that really didn’t know too much about what was going on about how these families dealt with it and are still dealing with it and how lives were affected during that time frame.
s there anything you can share about the finale or is it best to just tune in and watch it?
I think after the first seven (episodes) it’s hard, there’s so many different story lines going on. I say it’s mostly about these two families, (but) there is a large number of people that sort of get picked up along the way that all the parties are dealing with, both friends and people that are associated with the battle; nurses and lab techs and others that are part of it. It’s kind of best to tune into it, but obviously for anybody that can’t it’s best to watch it all the way through, otherwise it’s kind of hard to pick it up on the fly. There’s so many different threads that’s ongoing, and it takes place over a 25 year period, so it’s quite a complicated story that way.

You have a very successful week with two shows premiering almost at the same time! Let’s start with the Netflix Original series that just debuted this week – THE ORDER. You play the character of LILITH BATHORY…tell us a little about the character and about what viewers can expect when they watch the show?
Yes, it seems like all of the projects I’ve done recently are coming together all at once! Lilith is a bad ass. She is a double agent between the two sworn secret societies. Lilith is really like not having this guy; she hates the order, she doesn’t agree with what Jack’s doing, but even though she’s kind of a tough character with a bit of a mean streak and some blood lust, she’s also a really good friend deep down. It was a really fun journey in exploring such a sassy character. It’s a fun show!

One look at your resume and it’s easy to see that you are a busy guy. Let’s talk about one of your recent projects – Hot Box. What can you tell us about it?
I originally wanted to shoot a feature length movie that I would direct myself; of course we didn’t have a lot of money so the idea was it was originally going to take place all in and around a car. There’s a car at some sort of house party or bush party and people would go to this car to smoke weed. All this drama and comedy would happen inside and around the car. That’s where it started, but it stated morphing into a bigger story where we would have inside stuff too, inside the house party, and so me and my co-producers started adding storylines and funny things that could happen and next thing you know it’s kind of taking on a life of its own and became a big story. A lot of it happens in a car, but a lot of it happens inside this house too and there’s all these intersecting storylines…kind of like love stories and a few other funny stuff, like a band breaking up and there’s a guy that’s trying to propose to his girlfriend and doesn’t realize that she’s cheating on him and there’s a drug dealer that’s having a crisis of conscience and decides that he wants to help the environment instead of being a drug dealer and all these funny, intersecting stories. That’s how it all came about.

February 26th principal Photography has officially commenced in Toronto for “The Marijuana Chronicles,” written and directed by Craig Pryce (The Good Witch Franchise, PSI Factor, Goosebumps, HBO’s The Dark, Zack Files, Life with Derek). Pryce received four Directors Guild nominations and two Gemini nominations and directed episodes of “Dark Oracle”, a series that won an International Emmy. This is Pryce's third feature film.
“The Marijuana Chronicles” is based on a true story that took place in 1972 over 98 days. It studies the scientific, social and physical effects of Marijuana use during an all-female group study. Pryce optioned this story from investigative reporter Diana Zlomislic, who acts as story consultant.
Director and writer Craig Pryce says, "After discovering Diana’s fascinating research on the bizarre and unethical experiments studying the effects of marijuana on females in Toronto 1972, I knew it would make for a fascinating movie. I'm very excited to tell this true story that focuses on five young women and how they used their unique strengths, resilience and friendship to overcome adversity despite several agendas imposed on them during their days in virtual captivity.”
“The Marijuana Chronicles” features an all Canadian female leading cast including Julia Stone (Weirdos, Wet Bum, The Killing, Everything will be Fine), Morgan Kohan (Ransom, Star Trek Discovery, Kim's Convenience), Tymika Tafari (Murdoch Mysteries), Brittany Bristow (Royal Matchmaker, Wildlife Quest, Shadowtown), and Kyla Young (Alias Grace). Luke Bilyk (Degrassi, Kiss & Cry) and Greg Calderone (Heroes Reborn, Saving Hope) will also play in the film.
