It is that time of the Year again when the year has started, and we are Seriously trying our best to keep our new year resolutions.
Many of us have set goals for the year and we are energetically striving to bring it to pass.
A surprising fact I found whilst researching statistics around new year resolutions was that about 70-60% of people abandon their new year resolution within 2 weeks of setting them
Another surprising one is that only about 20% of people set goals in their lives. 80% of people don’t have any goals in life.
A person without Goals is like a Sailboat on water with sea currents and winds with the sail up and without a destination
A person with a Goal has a destination without a map to guide to that destination. So sometimes this way and sometimes the other way
A person with a goal and a plan is like a Boat with a Destination and a map

Many times, when we pray, it sems like God is not there to Listen, or that he will not hear us.

Perception is more important than Reality
Perception: “The way of regarding, understanding, or interpreting something; a mental impression.”
Reality: “The world or the state of things as they actually exist… existence that is absolute, self-sufficient, or objective, and not subject to human decisions or conventions.”
The problem is that the lens through which we perceive is often distorted in the first place by our genetic predispositions, past experiences, prior knowledge, emotions, preconceived notions, self-interest, and cognitive distortions.
Perception acts as a lens through which we view reality.
Just like we can take pictures and adjust the way the picture looks through different lenses or filters so we can adjust our perception through certain deliberate filters that we can use in looking at the situations and circumstances
There are some filters I have discovered which I can deliberately apply to my Perception of things and circumstances to give me another view of it.

A power of attorney is a legal status granted to somebody that allows them to act on your behalf.
The person given a POA may have either broad or narrow legal authority
Having a power of attorney to act on behalf of someone else in a particular context, means that you have as much power as the person has when you act in that context
Jesus Christ has given us the power of attorney and full authority to act on his behalf in a broad context once we are believers.
Whatever Jesus could do on this earth when he was alive, His name can do it because he left us the POWER OF ATTORNEY to use His name

Nonverbal communication is the act of conveying information without the use of words. It represents about 75 to 80% of meanings conveyed in a communication
How we carry ourselves reflects our feelings. When we’re sad, we tend to look down and frown, when anxious we might tap our feet or shift our eyes and when happy we may smile
A downcast look is nonverbally communicating shame, disgrace, guilt, insecurity and low self-esteem
As your feelings affect your posture, so your posture affects your feelings This is called Embodied Cognition.
Embodied Cognition is a form of communication between your mind and body and works both to send signals form the body to the brain, and signals from the brain to the body. In simpler terms, how your body is positioned can directly impact your mood and vice versa.
So how we position our bodies can also change how we feel. That is, if you act confident, even when you’re not, you may begin to feel confident

State of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances
There are two circumstances that cause stress in the body
Adversity
Any situation that places extreme demand on the body
Physical results of the stress response
heart pounding
breathing quickens
Muscles tense
beads of sweat appear
This combination of reactions to stress is also known as the "fight-or-flight" response
Over time, repeated activation of the stress response takes a toll on the body. Research suggests that chronic stress contributes to high blood pressure, promotes the formation of artery-clogging deposits, and causes brain changes that may contribute to anxiety, depression, and addiction
Most times we look at stress as a negative situation, but stress plays a role in both positive and negative circumstances
Two concepts:
Distress: this is negative stress with all its emotions
Eustress: this is positive stress with its associated emotions
Distress can be used positively as a warning sign that something is not right with us and for us to do something about it.
Eustress can be used positively to enhance our performance in positive circumstances that we find ourselves. Like when you are doing something outside your comfort zone. It can be used to make us grow.

There is a mathematical Principle in which you know one value and you use it in deducing another value because you Know a part of it commonly referred to as the if then principle.
It is used in solving problems on finance and interest
If the bank interest on your savings account is 5% per annum, It means that as you keep 100 dollars in your savings account for one year, you will be paid an interest of 5 dollars

We need to Meditate on the word of God
We need to Memorize the word of God
We will be looking at a simple method of how to Study the word.
Apart from reading the word, studying the word gives us a better understanding of it, enabling us to recognize and apply it in circumstances and situations in our lives
There are many ways to study the word, but today, I will share a simple method that has helped me get a deeper understanding of the word, and that I have found is easy to apply to personal and group study, Young Christians, seasoned Christians, young and old persons in terms of age.
HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE, A SIMPLE METHOD

Choose a chapter or verses you would want to read.

Use a notebook and pencil or pen when you want to study.

Pray for God’s guidance to help you understand his word.

Summarize the passage you just read in your own words. If you cannot do so then read it again, as it means you have not understood the passage clearly

What do you like in the passage? Make a list of the things you like in the passage.

What don’t you like in the passage? Make a list of the things you don’t like in the passage.

Is there anything you don’t understand? Note it down and ask someone who knows.

What does the passage tell you about God and understanding his nature? list the attributes, the character, and the nature of God you have found out through the passage
-
What does this passage tell you about life and how to live a successful Christian life? List these points down

The word (you know) works
There are three scriptures I use, to remind myself of the power in the word of God, and the fact that the word works.

The Lord watches over his word to confirm it. He has released enough power to bring every word and promise he has written in the Bible to pass.
the Word does the work, not the one holding on to it.
It works for anyone who will apply it to their circumstances.
You just have to remember what is written you do not have to accurately quote what chapter and verse
USING the Word will not always easy.
No matter what Satan tells you, refuse to let go of the Word.

Do you usually finish what you start?
If you are anything like me, you will be extremely excited when you start any new project or goal, you hit some problems or difficulties while carrying them out, and you get excited about another new project and abandon the other one.
We are now at the middle month of the year, halfway through the year. How many of our new years resolutions and Goals have we completed, or are we still pursuing?
How we finish or complete what we start is better than how we begin

One thing I have observed in the Bible is that there are some Patterns God placed there for us that are repeated over and over for us to learn from.
One of those Patterns I have found to be true, is that God prepares His vessels, and tests them before he uses them to His Glory

Before using Moses, He arranged for him to go through formal education in the palace of Egypt for 40 years.
Moses had to go to the wilderness for another 40 years training, to learn what the best education could not teach him.
Moses spent 80 years to prepare for a 40-year long ministry. This means that years of preparation may sometimes be twice as much as years of service

I had tried many times to read through the bible, but stopped somewhere along the line. One of the methods I tried was reading the bible in a year.
What I am sharing is the method I found which works all the time for me.
In order to stay consistent and successfully read the bible through, we have to make it a habit

HOW MANY PROMISES IN THE BIBLE?
There are over 7,400 Promises of God to man……………..Some Researchers say there are over 30,000 promises, including Man to man God to man and other promises recorded.
Whenever God makes you a promise, or gives you a word of prophecy, never belittle it. While it is unwise to base your expectations on the promises of men, you can safely depend on God's promises
Num 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
Some actionable steps we can take to claim God’s promises to us in His word and watch it come to pass in our lives:

Many times, Jesus compares the kingdom of God to examples or circumstances people can relate to so it will be easy to understand.
One of the times He did this, He compared the Kingdom of God to sowing a seed
Putting this in context, God solved many Problems by Sowing a seed
When God lost man in Adam and Eve, He had every option that exists to choose from to redeem what He’d lost. He had all wisdom and all power available to Him. Out of all that, the law of giving is what He chose to use.
He gave the most irreplaceable thing He had: His only Son.
Joh 3:16 KJV For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
He backed that gift with His own faith. And when the law of giving and receiving had done its work, the Almighty Father God received not only His first-begotten Son, but millions of other sons as well.
Give what you would like to receive from God. Whatever you sow you will reap if you want money, give money. If you want love Give Love, If you want a smile, give a smile. If you want to be happy, make someone else happy
Money is a universal seed
Most of us feel like we are under pressure these days.

Comfort Zone:
A situation or position in which a person feels secure, comfortable or in control.
A comfort zone is familiar, it is habitual, and can prevent one from moving forward towards their dreams.
This does not mean that a Christian should not live a comfortable life, or not be satisfied with what God gives you.

PRAISE May be defined generally as an ascription of value or worth, the act of expressing approval or admiration; commendation; laudation
Praise is faith in action. To praise God we must first believe in God. That He is. Then through believing (praising) we seek or come to Him.
Heb 11:6 KJV But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
If we diligently seek Him through praise, our action of faith, the reward is that He will reveal Himself.
Praise is a decision. When we make that decision, we not only give action to our faith, but we open the door for the manifested presence of God. For God inhabits the praises of His people.

How to be transformed

we learn more about the things of the Lord by interacting with His word and learning about Him and the Holy Spirit
As we spend time renewing our mind, our outer being will be transformed in much the same way as a caterpillar is changed into a butterfly. Instead of conforming to the image of the world, you'll begin to conform to the image of the reborn spirit within you which is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Take time to get away from the world and study God's Word. Meditate on it and let it change you from the inside out.

The inherent capacity for coming into being capable of becoming real
The thing with potential is that it remains as it is until a force acts on it.
An acorn is the seed of an oak tree. It is Small, but when it is planted in the right soil, and the right conditions are met, then its potential is released, and it will grow into an Oak tree.
The toothpaste will not come out without pressure
Unless a demand is made on your potential it will not come out
Gideon did not know who he was in God
Jdg 6:12-15 AMP And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, The Lord is with you, you mighty man of [fearless] courage. Potential is determined by God and it is Limitless
Potential is packaged in us
We discover our potential by Looking into the word of God to see what He has made us and what is possible through us
we have to believe the word God says concerning us
we must act on God's word and the power will be released to bring it to pass

As a believer, you have the power of the Holy Spirit inside you. But that power won't go to work until you put it to work! The Holy Spirit won't force you. He won't come in and turn down the television set and tell you to go and pray He's sent to help you to do the will of God, to strengthen you, to counsel you...but He won't do a thing until He's asked.

Believing is the way we tap into the very power of Almighty God.

Do you ever have trouble believing the Word of God? Not just agreeing with it mentally, but really believing that what it says will work for you?
There are times when the promises in the Word seem too good to be true in my mind.
An example is when I am faced with a really difficult task that Looks impossible:
Php 4:13 KJV I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
What do you do when your mind staggers like that at the promise of God? You meditate on that promise.
Scriptural meditation simply means thinking about and reflecting on the Word of God. It means pondering a particular scripture and mentally applying it to your own circumstances again and again until that scripture permanently marks your consciousness.
Meditation provokes INSPIRATION -- REVEALATION--FAITH-- MANIFESTATION
What has God been speaking to you through His word? Believe it and The power will be released to bring it to pass

When the Israelites were sent to spy out the Promised Land, their focus separated them.
It is very crucial you see things from the right perspective or else you may become a victim of poor perception. “And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight” (Num. 13:33).
What you focus on is what dominates you.
What you focus on is what determines the end of the matter.
Whatever you identify, remember this . . .
With focus you can achieve anything.

The fear of the Lord is where wisdom and knowledge begin

“the fear of the Lord,” does not mean you should be afraid of God. He’s your Father! You should be as secure and unafraid when you come before Him as a child who knows he is dearly loved.
But you must also have so much respect for Him that whatever you do, you place him first
The fear of the Lord is respect Reverence and esteem……………………..Honor
Honor means how much weight or respect you give something
When you don’t honor the Lord you can’t get much from Him
How do you honor God
By acknowledging who He is
Acknowledging what he is to you and how you cannot do without him.
His oxygen sustains us.
His Gravity holds us on the earth
He is Abba Father but we must not fail to show reverence and respect
Isa 11:3 AMPC And shall make Him of quick understanding, and His delight shall be in the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord. And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, neither decide by the hearing of His ears;
If you are in a situation that you do not understand, or it is difficult, close your eyes, worship God reverence Him and He will come through for you. Confess that He makes you of quick understanding.
Those who have disregard for the Lord will not hear Him, and will not receive from Him
As a student or anyone who wants to learn, I encourage you to worship and honor God before you seek knowledge whether physical or spiritual, and it will come to you.

Whatever you're facing today, God can use it to lift you to a higher level.
1Co 15:58 KJV Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Gal 6:9 KJV And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
The resistance you're facing today is preparing you. It's strengthening your character. It's building your trust and reliance in God. It's absolutely necessary in order to handle the growth you're about to have!
You may have to chart an alternate course to get to your destination. It may not be the route you planned or the time frame you anticipated, but you're still successful as long as you keep moving toward your intended destination.
Don't ever lose sight of where you were headed.
Romans 11:29 says,"The gifts and callings of God are without repentance."
What does that mean? God's gifts and calling for your life cannot be withdrawn, it's unchangeable and irrevocable. God doesn't change his mind about your destiny. Nor should you!

At this time of the year most of us think about Resolutions
Many people make New Year Resolutions - things they desire to start or stop doing in the New Year.
Unfortunately, these are usually vague and undocumented.
Almost invariably, the resolutions are forgotten before the end of January!
Ninety three (93) percent of those who set New Year goals or New Year resolutions go unfulfilled.
Goal-- the End towards which effort is directed
A person without goals in his life is like a ship without maps and a compass
You must have Vision/Goals for this Year so you can Move forward in Gods Favor this year
Goals are biblical. Paul said, Php 3:12-14 AMP Not that I have now attained [this ideal], or have already been made perfect, but I press on to lay hold of (grasp) and make my own, that for which Christ Jesus (the Messiah) has laid hold of me and made me His own. (13) I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, (14) I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.
WRITE DOWN THE VISION
For everybody, it is always better when things are written down than when we commit it to memory
Hab 2:2 AMP And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by.
You must write down the Vision in an easy way that you can see when you glance at it
ASK GOD FOR A STRATEGIC PLAN
As a redeemed child of God, your strategy should come from God, otherwise pressures and people can easily take you in the wrong direction.
He is waiting to whisper the plan for you succeed in your ears

DIVINE FAVOR IS NOT EARNED, BECAUSE IT IS NOT GOTTEN FROM MERIT
Rom 9:15-16 AMP For He says to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy and I will have compassion (pity) on whom I will have compassion. [Exod. 33:19.] (16) So then [God's gift] is not a question of human will and human effort, but of God's mercy. DIVINE FAVOR HAS A SET TIME
There are different kinds of time, what is translated as time in the English has different words in the original.

KHRONOS – Quantity of time (chronologically) a certain period of time.

AION – A particular season e.g. summertime.

KAIROS - quality – set time
· Set Time
· Appointed Time
· Opportune Time.
· God’s set Time.
God is not governed by time. He was there before time began. He created time.
When His set time comes, nothing can stop it………………..

No matter how bad the problem you may be facing today, no matter how far under the circumstances you may be, in 24 hours you can be back on top!
God can make a way, where there seems to be no way Isa 43:19 KJV Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
The Samaritans thought in 2 Kings 7 that they were facing the worst possible situation in their life. It was bad.
Their land was being ravaged by famine. Enemy troops had surrounded them and cut off all source of supply.
Mothers were eating their own children just to survive
But right in the middle of that, the Lord told the prophet Elisha that in 24 hours the whole situation would change. Flour and barley would sell for just a few pennies and there would be abundance for all.
What did God use to turn that situation around?
Four lepers! Four lepers who, instead of sitting around feeling sorry for themselves and waiting to die, decided to arise and take their chances in the enemy camp. When they got there, they found it abandoned. All the warriors had been frightened away by the angels of God, and they'd left enough food behind to feed all of Samaria!
Stop looking at your problem and feeling sorry for yourself. That won't change anything!
Just like He did for the Israelites through Elisha, God is giving you a word today He's promised you victory. He's promised to make you an overcomer.
Don’t just sit there , Don't accept defeat.
Take that step, and see the deliverance of the Lord!

As Born Again Children of God, Let us look at our place in the family of God
Tit 3:4-7 KJV But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, (5) Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (6) Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; (7) That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Rom 8:16-17 KJV The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: (17) And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
A covenant of grace. That's what we have with Almighty God. If you could truly grasp the significance of that, you'd never be the same again.
The great Jehovah, God of heaven and earth, is your Father God. Can you understand that? If you're under the blood of Jesus, you've been made a covenant child of the most powerful being in the universe.
Take your place in the family
Look at the example of the prodigal son‘s brother he did not know his place in the family. Though he was the “good” or better behaved brother, since he did not know his Place, he did not benefit from the rights and privileges he had. The “bad” brother even though he used his privileges wrongly still knew his position with his father better than the good one.
Most of all, we should understand our place with our HeavenlyFather, be well behaved, and at the same time, use our position wisely.

one of the secrets of staying in the will of God, of keeping yourself from derailing is by not overestimating ourselves
HUMILITY is the quality or act of being humble.
Keep a watch on yourself, and when you catch yourself getting puffed up with your own greatness, repent and remember that every good thing you enjoy and every bit of success you've had has come by the grace of God and by His power.
Look back on your life and see how many times you could have lost what God had given you. See how many times, when you were floundering around making every mistake imaginable, His tender and precious mercy pulled you through.
Many times, Poverty or being poor is portrayed as humility. This is not always true. While it is true that Lots of people with pride are rich, I have met many Successful and Humble people and many Poor and Proud people
Biblical humility means believing what God says about you over anyone else's opinion, including your own. It requires embracing who you are in Christ over who you are in the flesh. To be biblically humble is to be so free of concern for your own ego that you elevate those around you.

When most believers are asked if they will become great in the kingdom of God, they speak as if greatness in the kingdom is meant for others and not them. If you enquire further, you are told that who will be great in the kingdom of God is not in anyone’s control
Some will say many of us are called to be simple.
While this is ultimately true, we each have a part to play in what we become in the kingdom of God here on Earth, and by extension what we eventually become in the kingdom of God in Heaven
2Ti 2:20-22 KJV Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. (20) But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. (21) If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. (22) Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
There are going to be some golden vessels in the kingdom and there are going to be some clay pots,
but we are the ones--not God--who determine which kind we will be.
