The legal industry is marked by an interesting paradox: there seems to be no directly proportional relationship between the value created by a lawyer for a client and the time spent doing so. Clients often receive significant value from lawyers on things that do not take a lot of time. Conversely, lawyers often spend a lot of time on things that bring comparatively little value. Nevertheless, “time spent” is still how lawyers measure their value and charge their clients.
In this episode, Senne Mennes, the Co-founder of ClauseBase, describes how legal technology like document automation software intends to restore balance and how some of the legal sector’s newer career paths play a role.
