Brittney Fairweather is a Licensed Real Estate Agent who managed to sell her company to institutional buyers. Her journey in the real estate world is an inspiring story of identifying opportunities, adapting to market shifts, and consistently delivering solutions that meet investors’ evolving needs. Despite her unconventional start as a musical theater major, Brittany’s entrepreneurial spirit and listening skills lead her to establish and sell multiple successful companies.
Trixy Castro is the true definition of the American Dream, showing that hard work and perseverance pay off. The daughter of Cuban immigrants, her parents strove to give her a life that was better than theirs. Growing up at a young age Trixy didn’t at first understand that she had less than those around her. Her mother worked as a live-in caregiver for an affluent family in a suburb of Los Angeles, California. Living in the family’s guest house, Trixy’s mother worked extremely hard to afford opportunities for her daughter and to expose her to experiences and people that ultimately shaped Trixy into who she is today.
Trixy never took no for an answer and created the means for herself. Lightning Round1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
Prior to working in financial services, I worked in college in professional athletics. I had a cool background where I worked in college athletics, in facilities, and operations. I side-hustled a lot when I was in grad school and one of the coolest jobs I’ve ever had was working for the Miami Dolphins Organization in their event group and we got to coordinate the jet flyovers at the football games.
Definitely my kids. I think a lot of people come on here and say they’re kids, but they truly make me want to be a better person and make the world a better place through their eyes.

I think with social media especially, comparison is the thief of joy. Social media makes it seems like everyone is an overnight success, that everybody is making a million dollars, and if you’re not, your complete failure. I think that comparison is a thief of joy. One piece of financial advice is to remember to be good to yourself. It’s not so much financial advice, but when I think of moms and how hard we work in the house and outside of the house. Take some time to relax a bit and allow yourself to have some time where you’re not feeling guilty about all the things that you’re not doing because you deserve it.

AboutNatasha is co-founder and creative mind behind Black and Brown Make Green, a financial education podcast, that she co-hosts with her husband, Damian. Natasha brings her positive attitude, in-depth knowledge, and background as a teacher and instructional coach to educate and empower those who are Black, Brown, and Beyond to manage their money with confidence. Her journey to financial independence has been fueled by her desire to live a more balanced life, and she strives to help others do the same.
Natasha volunteers as a financial mentor with 3rd Decade and provides coaching though Black and Brown Make Green.
Lightning Round1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
Damian: I’m a black builtin karate and I can draw, well, that’s two.
Natasha: I am a three-time weightlifting champion.
Damian: That’s a little bit hard because I feel like I draw inspiration from a lot of different people for a lot of different reasons. I think that goes to say that you always have to keep your eyes open and try to always better yourself. But you know, like for me, I think that the people that have served that role most effectively have been both of my parents for different reasons. My dad has always shown me how to be a standup and respectable man. My mom showed me how to be a nurturer and a caretaker.
Natasha: Damian inspires me the most right now. He’s the one that I spend the most time with and I get to really see how he does things. I think seeing his work ethic and the way that he approaches things is really an inspiration.
Damian: The Happiness Hypothesis: Finding Modern Truth in Ancient Wisdom by Jonathan Haidt
Natasha: Psychology of Money: Timeless Lessons on Wealth, Greed, and Happiness by Morgan Housel
Damian: Don’t let the lack of knowledge make you take inaction. Don’t let that prevent you from taking action. You have to continue moving forward. You have to continue bettering yourself, and you have to do it incrementally. If you don’t know, go seek it out, go find it.
Natasha: There’s a philosophy I came up with a couple years ago. There’s a book by Michael Pollan about defensive food, and he uses seven words to define how people should eat. I took his idea of using seven words to define how I think about money. My seven words are: spend money, not too much, and invest wisely. I think the purpose of money is to be spent. It’s to make your life better, but you also have to do it in a balanced way, so not too much of it. Make sure you’re saving and then invest wisely. Make investment decisions that help benefit your life and benefit your family.

Look to see how can you use the tax code to your advantage. For a mom who isn’t even thinking about location independence or anything like that, should also look at the implications of hiring her child as an employee for her business. If you are self-employed, it could be beneficial to set yourself up as an S-corp tax status.

People that have a goal, write it down, and then they work towards that goal every single day. Regardless of your goal, if your goal is to be a billionaire or if your goal is to lose 20 pounds. If you write that goal down and then you start working on it, I’m inspired. That really fires me up and I need to be around people like that.

She’s passionate about Buddhism, meditation, the environment, eating plant-based, the outdoors, running, and lots of other things. She loves to read, listen to books, and listen to podcasts. I mean, why not? Maggie’s ultimate desire in life is to raise happy productive kids and live in a tiny house (after those happy productive kids move out). Maggie recently started a passion project Mostly Minimal Life, which is a blog and coaching business focused on finding happiness through living a more minimal life.

Find the balance between appreciating what you have so that you’re not always desiring more, but also balance not being so hard on yourself. It’s tough being a mom and teenagers are a different level of toughness. I remember when I was working a demanding full-time job and trying to raise kids and just all these things. It’s tough. So don’t be so hard on yourself and don’t judge every little thing you do.

AboutShang and her family live in NYC and became work optional when she was 31. They are high-income earners who lived way below their means for many years before starting a family. She’s overcome a birth defect that impacted her speech, work challenges, and infertility for many years. She’s worked extremely hard to get to where she is today, especially since both of her parents and grandparents grew up in poverty. Shang has appeared on Forbes, Fox, and The New York Post.
Lightning Round1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
I don’t like chocolate.
I think you can draw inspiration from many people over time but the person that inspires me the most is my father. He and I didn’t always see eye to eye when I was a kid, but I am so in awe and so inspired by how hard he worked to pull his family out of poverty and brought me out with him.

AboutI’m a financial coach who helps ambitious people manage their cash flow, pay off debt, work towards their goals, and live life on their own terms.
I also help other financial coaches start, launch, and grow their coaching businesses while getting paid for their hard work.
Lightning Round1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
I used to compete in bodybuilding competitions.
Currently, the person that is inspiring me most is James Clear with his book Atomic Habits I’ve been loving it.
Company of One by Paul Jarvis
I think one of the biggest tips that I can give people is to be surrounded by people that are similarly minded and on a very similar path to whatever the financial goal you’re trying to accomplish. If you’re trained to pay off your debt, follow people that are trying to also pay off debt so that you don’t get overwhelmed and feel like you’re so far behind.
So I would say, stay in your lane with whatever area you are focusing on in your financial life. And that’s where you can start to find some saturation and start to change your mindset and just feel better about your financial journey without that comparison syndrome.

Maria’s BioIn search of balance and financial freedom, Maria left a life of eating out, catwalks, and a killer job in Silicon Valley for a life of Dickies and tool belts; DIY-rehabbing, and renting apartments in Helsinki, Finland. And she loves it.
Maria founded a real estate investing company in Finland in 2018 in which she now works full-time as the CEO focusing on buy-and-hold rental apartments using the BRRRR strategy. She believes tenants have the right to live in a wonderful home they love which is why she designs the apartments individually adding some pizazz.
When she’s not busy keeping her two toddlers from eating paint or piercing each other with power tools, she loves running and laughing and inspiring others to act even though they’re scared.
Maria has written the following articles:
Maria is also featured in the brand new book:The Only Woman in the Room: Knowledge and Inspiration from 20 Women Real Estate Investors by Ashley Wilson
Maria’s Real Estate and Life Tips1. If you don’t know how to do something, find somebody, who does and can show you the results. Then model them. 2. Rock stars know rock stars, so when building a team find one rockstar first and they will lead you to the rest. 3. Don’t focus on what you don’t have, focus on what you do have. In real estate, there are three things you need, knowledge, time/hustle, and money. Focus on your strengths, what you can offer, and find others who have what you don’t have. I.e If you have time and knowledge, find someone with money. 4. Bring value to people first. What can I give to others v.s what can I get from others? 5. Better to be in the with an okay deal than waiting on the sides for the perfect deal. 6. Don’t compare you chapter one to someone else’s chapter 20. You don’t know how far they have worked to get to this point. All of us have different things in our past that’s happened. We can’t control that but we can control our actions and our thoughts. 7. Be normal. Find someone else’s pain point and solve it for them to help you get a deal. 8. I was supposed to leave my dream job for my dream life. 9. Purpose fuels persistence so find your purpose. 10. Before buying a property, identify your goal, that will help you figure out your best strategy, that will lead you to your buying criteria. Then you will know if you have a good deal or not. 11. To expedite her wealth-building journey Maria focused on her velocity of money by using the BRRRR method. Buy, Rehab, Rent, Refinance, and Repeat. 12. Find your strengths and focus on that. You will become purposeful doing the things that you’re meant to do because that will come the easiest to you. That will give you the most energy. 13. Live your life as if you already died.
Lightning Round1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
I can put both my feet behind my head at the same time.
My best friend Lena because she pushes me to be myself because I do things a bit differently when it comes to, the rental site. I put extra love and attention into each unit and use different colors unlike anybody else. She’s been inspiring and very concrete when it comes to interior decoration, but also when it comes to life. For her, it’s all about creating a life and a home that you love.
The Obstacle Is the Way: The Timeless Art of Turning Trials into Triumph by Ryan Holiday
Find your strength because typically when you know what you’re good at, that’s what’s going to energize you. That’s what you should be focusing on. Lightning Round1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
So a hundred thousand years ago, in 1999, I hopped on my bicycle with a hundred other people. We rode from Seattle, Washington to Washington DC in 48 days. It was a super fun time. It was a fundraiser for the American Lung Association because when you can’t breathe, nothing else matters.
My oldest daughter is incredibly inspiring because she is so smart and she’s so driven. She’s 15. She has the normal amount of 15 year old, the self-consciousness, but there are other parts of her where she’s like, I know that this is right, and I am not going to be deterred in any way. I don’t care what other people think about me.
