Waterford hurler Jack Fagan has been honoured by his native county, Meath as he scooped an Outstanding Achievement Award at the Meath Sports Awards (organised by the Meath Chronicle Newspaper) which were held virtually last week.
Jack who hails from Rathmolyon hurling club in Co. Meath picked up the accolade after a remarkable campaign which saw him burst onto the Déise team in 2020 as Waterford reached the All-Ireland SHC Final for the first time since 2017.

Glen Power from Rathgormack, Co. Waterford and Conor McGowan from Piltown, Co. Kilkenny who are two of the guys undertaking a collective run of 1000km (the lads are currently into their third of five weeks running) to raise funds for Pieta House, and remember their close friend, Rian Anthony who sadly died late last year.

Waterford Camogie duo Lorraine Bray and Jenny McCarthy completed their 5k run on Saturday afternoon as part of the VIRTUAL RUN TO CROKER to raise funds for the Deise Senior Camogie Training Fund, the girls chatted to Gavin Whelan after the runs were completed, and including our own Gavin Whelan clocking up another 5k!
Waterford GAA last week launched a 10 year strategic plan called ‘Waterford Rising’. Sean Michael O’Regan, Chair of Waterford GAA said “I am actually delighted that we are launching the plan at this time even in the midst of a pandemic. In some respects, the past year has given us time to consider the future and reappraise our priorities and this plan is all about taking stock and focussing on the things that can make most difference to our future. I am proud of the efforts of all our clubs and volunteers in supporting our communities and today is about giving people a vision for the future to motivate them and assure them that Waterford GAA is alive and well and getting ready to move forward”. I am really grateful to the Strategic Review Group and the many others who have committed so much time and effort to this process.

The story so far:
On Thursday, December 3rd 2020, Mark Dalton, his twin brother Tom, and three friends were involved in a serious car accident. Mark received exceptional care from the first responders, paramedics, staff at Cork University Hospital and the Spinal Unit of the Mater Hospital. Despite their efforts, he has been left with major trauma to his spine.
Mark is currently at the beginning of his rehabilitation journey which will continue in the National Rehabilitation Centre in Dun Laoghaire for the next considerable period of time.
