Welcome to Adored Chaos!

Adored Chaos is a place where you can be reminded that you were created with a purpose, a passion & a story unique to you. You are Adored. In the chaos that live throws at us, the chaos in the word that we don't understand, that feels unfair, wrong, confusing, disappointing, there's still love and there's joy. That joy comes from God and He puts people in our paths everyday that He wants us to encourage. My hope with this podcast is that you are encouraged and feel that hope inside you so you can share what you have with the world. Because you are Adored! How's it going for you? Are you being intentional to care for your body along with me?

Goal 3 is to plan a weekly workout routine. Walking....lots of walking! That's my commitment right now. Doing better with sleep. Nutrition...eh. This is a spot I need to put more focus and planning..... BUT... my kitchen is currently torn out!! :). A hardcore trainer may not think I'm setting a 'workout routine' but I'm loving all the walking I'm doing and I had to wake up to how much I was sitting and what it's doing to my body.

How about you??

-How do you feel?

-What's been fun?

-What's encouraging you?

Oh....and we got a boxer puppy! Talk about AdoredChaos!!!

Thanks for listening friends! I love having you alongside me on this journey!

You'll notice (maybe) that this was released out of order... I needed some time to decide if I wanted to publish this one. But here it is.... I'm being a bit more raw & vulnerable on this episode. If even 1 person listens, I hope it encourages you to be vulnerable when you are struggling too. Sprinkle things you love into your week and believe the truths of who GOD says you are and how he wants you to live in the world. It's a recipe for joy!

Psalm 84 (excerpts), HCSB

How lovely is your dwelling place O Lord. I long and yearn for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh cry out for the living God... How happy are those who reside in your house, who praise you continually... Better is one day in your courts than a thousand anywhere else... For the Lord God is a sun and shield... Happy is the person who trusts in you, Lord of Armies.

You are so loved in the world. Make time to breathe and be present...there's just something about the name of Jesus who loves you, died and rose again for you and beckons your soul towards him.

Thank you for joining me as I sit down with my friend (and co-worker) Danny Oertli. He's a singer/songwriter, worship leader & Executive Pastor at Mission Hills Church in Littleton Colorado. We are both Enneagram 7's and I always have the MOST FUN with Danny- even when talking about something like grief.

A year ago this month, March 2020, Danny's newest album "Long Way Off" launched into the world....and then the pandemic hit. Go download this great album full of stories on Spotify, Apple Music and wherever you get your tunes!

(we mention the song "What Did You See" from this album and another favorite of mine is "I'll Tell Your Story" featuring his wife Rayna.

Here's a few favorite quotes from this episode:

"It's kind of like the ocean where the waves keep coming, where you never get a breath or rest. The chaos was just waves and if felt like there was never a break."

"What I would tell someone helping someone go through grief, find out if your friend is an introvert or an extrovert. Do they want to sit around and talk and hang out, or do they want you to do their dishes and not say anything and leave?"

"If you are going through grief, lean into it as much as you can."

Bible Verses:

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

There is a time for everything,

and a season for every activity under the heavens:

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

The Sermon on the Mount: Matthew 5-7

Lazarus is carried up to heaven by the angels: Luke 16:22

Hey friends! Chaos is going to happen....things aren't going to go right from big to small and it's been that way since the fall in the garden of Eden.  BUT- we can work to adapt to and live within our chaos with Joy.  The next few times we sit down in my living room together with our coffee, we are going to talk through 3 ways I have learned to "control the chaos". Today we talk about why its important to know ourselves.  Here are some resources I mentioned in the episode. Lisa Harper:

Cate is an expert in neurosurgery and shares her journey of feeling isolated, but learning along the way to become vulnerable.

1- Pray and ponder what word will be the filter you use for the upcoming year

2- Settle on the one that keeps rising to the surface

3- Commit and see what the year brings!

Will you share your word with us? Head over to Instagram- @AdoredChaosPodcast and post it in the comments!

Thank you for returning for Part 2 of Leslie's story! This conversation may not be appropriate for kids.

Leslie shares her favorite verse that helped her battle through insomnia, anxiety & postpartum depression:

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding;

in all your ways submit to him,

and he will make your paths straight.

Along with vulnerably sharing how God rescued her, Leslie has strong advice for women to listen to their bodies!

Part 1- Women have been having babies for centuries.  Many of us have this idea in our head of how it's all going to go, but life doesn't always play out like a movie.

Although people told her what she was experiencing was "baby blues', Leslie explains the darkest, most tortured time of her life.  Get to know Leslie and what led up to the darkest time in her life.

From an egg topic pregnancy the first time around to a quick 2nd pregnancy with anxiety along the journey, a traumatic birth story... something else was festering below the surface and about to rear it's ugly head.

Whether or not you've experienced this type of trauma, you will hear a vulnerable message of despair and hope through Leslie's inspiring story.  We hope you enjoy part 1 and will come back again for part 2!
