So many of us are going through life on default, reacting to what happens to us and assuming that’s how it is and how it will always be. And so many of us are aware that something different, or better exists.. But we might not be aware that the different or better existence is available to us- RIGHT NOW! Or, even if we are aware.. We might not take action towards it, or believe it’s available to us because of our resistance. Over the episodes in this podcast I’ll teach you how you can release your resistance. By doing this for myself, I have become valued and respected by myself and in my relationships. I’ll tell you how I found my purpose, how I’m happy, and why I feel more self-sufficient now than ever before. Right now, there may be a barrier between you and a relationship with yourself and life that you love and appreciate, but that barrier is self-created resistance and totally optional. This podcast will show you how I broke through that barrier, and how you can too! I’ll show you how you can release your resistance.

Sheridan recently decided to get started with journaling.
So I invited her (back) on to the podcast to tell us all about how her new journaling routine is going
In this episode, Sheridan shares
💖 The benefits she wants to get from journaling (aka the reason she decided to start journaling)
💖 The real-life resistant thoughts she had about journaling and how 2 conversations with journalers helped her to drop the “should” and just start
💖 How perfectionism tried to sneak in to Sheridan’s journaling practice
💖 The specific, exact ways she is overcoming resistance and embracing imperfection in her own consistent journaling
The 2 of us also had so much fun talking about
👯♀️ Our strongly held beliefs about the importance of “the right pen” for journaling
👯♀️ Our theories on why we it might not be “the pen’s fault” but what we’re thinking as we’re journaling
👯♀️ Why and how to use bullet points when you’re pressed for time or have a lot to remember to write about
👯♀️ What you can tell yourself if you worry someone might read your journal
👯♀️ The awkwardness in journaling and re-reading journal entries
👯♀️ What we imagine it would be like to hear our journals read outloud
I’m so thankful Sheridan took time to talk with me about getting started with journaling. Our beautiful conversation is all about embracing authenticity, overcoming resistance, and finding joy in documenting life's journey.

My word of the year for 2020 is Resistance!
Seems a little strange- right? People choose words like strength, or possibility, or belief..
But this year Resistance is what’s on my mind - literally- like I’m recognizing so much resistance! And in the past, this would have been terrible news.. I would have resisted the resistance.
I would have had negative thoughts about having resistance.
But now, since I’ve decided I’m studying and learning and growing from resistance this year.. I’ve become so curious whenever I notice my own resistance. I’m noticing my resistance in my own thinking.. And in other people’s thinking.. Read more at http://bexb.org/resistance

Here’s a concept that you may have heard about.. or imagined.. but that you may not have thought is possible for “normal people” ...
This concept produces so much FREEDOM and CALM about money and working.
And when you think about it.. Aren’t those 2 of the main stressors in our lives?
Financial Independence solves problems stemming from both work and money. Financial Independence solves the symptom of “needing to work” by solving the cause which is “needing money. Read more at http://bexb.org/financial/
Have you heard of Mr. Money Mustache? Strange name, right? It is the alter ego of a gentleman in Colorado named Pete. At a young age, like while he was still in college, or maybe before, he realized he could make short-term decisions while he was young that would have life-long outcomes for him.
He did the simple math and figured out if he saved like crazy for the first 10 years of his career, he would be able to retire after those 10 years of working and saving. Hear more about the surprising - non financial - lessons I’ve learned from him at http://bexb.org/mmm/

Some people might have a knee-jerk cynical resistance to my suggestion that you can create the life you want for yourself. You want a specific life for yourself, that you have wanted for a while, that you have taken a few steps towards and thought a lot about, but maybe it seems like that exact, specific life is out of reach for you, or too far away, or would take too much time, or money, or effort.. THAT is the life I’m suggesting YOU REALLY CAN HAVE!

What you habitually say to yourself is a clue to what you habitually think.
So, for example, if you notice yourself saying “that was dumb!” about yourself or if you confess “I’m bad with names” when you forget someone’s name, maybe you’re subconsciously re-affirming to yourself that you think you are dumb or forgetful.
Have you read the quote that suggests if you wouldn’t talk to a friend that way, why would you talk to yourself that way? It makes a good point.. Why would you?
I have decided to be very mindful and selective about what I say to myself, so I’ve collected a few mantras that I’ve created as habits. Read More at http://bexb.org/mantras

Think about, in the past few days or week, what was the last best thing you did? Can you think of something?
Got it? Ok. Today, I want to tell you about a variation of self-coaching I like to do to notice the thoughts that produce great results in my life. I call it the Last Best Thing Model.
The last best thing model reminds me of my “default” thoughts that give me the results that I really do want. It shows me the thoughts I naturally think that produce the best things in my life for me, naturally! And since these thoughts already work for me, without any effort or intention on my part, I want to notice them, pay attention to them and replicate them in other areas too. Do you ever start thinking about what you “have to do” and think the thought- "I don’t have enough time." Or, you daydream about something that would be so amazing, like a vacation, or a renovation, or quitting your job to volunteer full time, or whatever- but catch yourself thinking - “I don’t have enough money for that.” Or, maybe you get excited about a new idea or passion-but then you don’t take the first step to pursue it because you know it will take a lot of energy. Does that sound familiar?
Believing that I didn’t have enough time, money or energy is exactly how I have been thinking for decades - but now I’m on the tail end of that belief system and it feels so good! It is so freeing! I have my whole life ahead of me with all the time, money and energy that I need!
I figured out how I can always feel like I have plenty of time, plenty of money and plenty of energy. Read More at http://bexb.org/energy
I love the model because it’s easy to remember and it gives a starting place to organizing what’s going on in my brain- and you know.. I love organizing things! The model has given me so much awareness, and therefore power, over my own brain. Having a memorable structure makes it easy to use, share and talk about.
Whenever I get coaching, the conversation is centered around the model – but it really just feels like a normal conversation with talking and questions and answers and going back to what we said a minute ago, and refining what I meant.
And, whenever I coach someone using the model I love having an easy to remember “agenda” and road map for what I want to ask, dig deeper on, point out, and review. It is so simple, but it is so amazing.
So, what is this model I’m gushing about? Read more at http://bexb.org/model
